The gameplay and item variety are the highlights, the mother base is basicly a useless prop, the story sucks balls the further you get into it, the open world aspect watered down all the locations to always have the same guards doing the same patrols and there isnt even any varied random events that could spice things up.
Its like getting a luxury car and a massive garage to customize it with to your hearts content but you only get to drive it around in a circle in your backyard.

The "bones" of this game are incredible, unfortunately the open world was a massive letdown. No NPC vs NPC battles on the map in the middle of Soviet Afghan war? And obviously we don't need to mention the bizarre plot and having to replay old missions to get the ending
