Nvidia's overpriced with cheaper hardware and broken drivers

Nvidia's overpriced with cheaper hardware and broken drivers

AMD doesn't want fair prices now Nvidia is shitting the bed

Intel's best GPU is comparable to a 3070

Literally the worst time to buy a GPU ever. Gotta spend like fucking $700 for a mid-range card

Assuming money isn't even an issue, are the 50 series cards even any good? Seems like a lot of people consider them to be a horizontal replacement for the 40 series.

you also forgot that there's no games and you can get by with a fucking gtx card
nvidia needs to start throwing endless money at indie game devs or there's no point to upgrade
i remember nvidia used to have that trailer in a few games like borderlands 1

Works on my machine

Linux

Can't put computer to sleep

Who cares

at msrp the 5070Ti is the best of them in the sense of improvement over its equivalent 'number' in the 40 series
right now the 5070Ti settled at around 200 above msrp which is only pretty much paying for the same price to performance as the 4070Ti Super

The performance is honestly pretty underwhelming for all cards, including the 5090.

I think it's about high time you fuckers realize this is the reality now. You're not gonna get cheaper shit, this is what we get folks.

Don't look for AMD to save you, the 9070XT is supposed to be almost on par with a 5070 Ti, just $300 cheaper, and look where it's been at for months: at higher prices than some of the base 5070 Ti cards are.

They're still better, it's just people are salty because the pattern was that every single Nvidia generation, the lowered tier card used to surpass the next level of the generation is was replacing. Following this pattern a 5070 should be better than a 4080, even if it's only marginally so. The reality is that a 5070 is better than a 4070, but still bellow a 4080, and this is what people have been bitching about. That the pattern has been broken.

Is it worth upgrading my GTX 1080 to 5070Ti? I wanna play E33 and shit

is the b580 good enough for 1440p

You literally don't need anything more powerful than a 3070 or RX 6700 XT

if you're a poorfag you really should put effort into stopping being a poorfag instead of being the kind of retard that works at macdonalds and splurges on gaming instead of doing whatever he can to get a job that pays better

t. a poorfag that came to terms with the fact he'll have to cope with poverty gaming for the foreseeable future

the B580 isn't good, period
I wish that wasn't the case but that's what reality is

Another thing that pisses people off is the xx70 card is called xx70 when what it actually is is a xx60 tier card

Nope, your best option is to save a few hundred more and hope for a used 6800 XT on ebay for the cheapest 1440P gaming you can get right now. cheapest I've seen them go is $450-ish

my current 6800 xt died and i'm trying to find a decent replacement, and i hate buying used cards

I buy one computer every 6 or so years and I only put away 100 a month for a new computer
Guess how much you will have and what you can also buy to complete your setup by just doing that.

Sucks too that UE5 is such dogshit that the engine alone is skyrocketing game requirements.

The 50 series is pretty dogshit in general
The only okay card being a 5070ti which still isn't better then a 4080 super

Unfortunately AMD bowed out of the gpu race and only made mid tier cards, otherwise they would be printing money from how ass the 5080 is and how expensive and house fire prone the 5090 is

After 3 generations? fuck yes it is worth it.

The real question is are you willing to put down the money? cause prices are not going down, they're staying what they are. The absolute cheapest price I've seen for a 5070 Ti right now, in the day of our lord, 17th of may of the year 2025, is about 830 dollars, and that's only in Micro Center, where you cannot buy online, you have to go to the store, and they make sure to get all of your info in order to enforce a single GPU per household rule they have in place so they don't get overun by scalpers.

At least there are options. The crypto boom was a huge problem in 2017, which also shot ram prices to the moon

Well, then you're just gonna have to spread your ass cheeks extra far and impale yourself on your credit card or predatory bullshit like Klarna for your GPU.

why are you nignogs going on about how the 5070ti is a good card if it only has 8gb of vram? I thought vram is king when it comes to gaming and that's been especially true ever since the classic >3.5gb gtx970 fiasco

5090 is around 30% better than a 4090 which is around an average generational leap.
All the other 50 cards are around a 10% improvement over the 40 supers, and the only thing you get over a 40 super is more DLSS options.

16gb is fine for the next 3-5 years if not playing above 1440p

...turns out the 5070ti does in fact have 12gb vram
I should've googled before posting

Even after googling you're still a fucking retard.
The vanilla 5070 is the card with 12 GB
The 5070 Ti has 16 GB

I honestly don't care too much since I won't be able to afford a current gen gpu anytime soon

tfw 1070 8gb version

Should I get a 4060ti 16gb, go for a 50 series or just HODL for the rest of my life?

I got a 7600 XT for $300, and I run games at 1080p, so I'm satisfied.

saving for 6 years

The average anon can't fathom that, he needs the newest thing everytime there is a new thing. Because if he doesn't get it then other anons will call him poor.

If you're a poorfag: buy used.
If you're a poorfag, but must buy new: MSI Ventus 360 12GB
If money is no object, you're just cheap: Get any 7800xt
If money is no object: just get a 5070ti or a 9070xt

I got gtx 1080, i'm hodling until gta 6 is out on PC and then I'll buy a new PC.

I am Cuckstralian which means I have to pay 1600$ which is roughly 1000USD

Why did this faggot soulless engine become the industry norm?

GTX1080 is unironically on the best cards ever. Crushing 1080p for years, high-med settings for many more. It's like 8 years at this point an many of us are still using it, other generations last like 4-5 years max

Because UE4 and UE3 before it were the norm, in particular 3 since the 360/PS3 era where games went mainstream was heavily dependent on it. It's trash, and I want it to go away forever, but it won't so the best I can do is not play AAA slop.

Why did this faggot soulless engine become the industry norm?

It's so every studio can easily outsource to 3rd party shitholes in India and elsewhere instead of doing their own engines or using anything else that would require training.

Pity, that's about 3 or so gens but you'll always have enough money to buy the top end at any time.
I started my saving plan with a 5700xt and 3700x and by the time I was ready to upgrade I was able to get a 5090 and 9950X3D and a 4k Oled monitor with money to spare

I was looking for a cheap deal on a 4070 for a long time last year but couldn't find one for a reasonable price so I ended up getting a used 3080 for way cheaper than the 4070 was going for and it works great. 4k gaming is awesome up to 144hz.

Feels good getting a mid range last year for 400

AMD is also overpriced cheap hardware, you just pay $50 less in exchange for a worse feature set.

and that better feature set? no physx, worse drivers, and less vram

Is is $50 cheaper for hardware and features which should be $200 cheaper.

AMD is*

At least intel's best gpu was priced appropriately for the time.

Lets hope this new one is all it's rumored to be

Worse upscaler
Worse RT
Worse non-gaming performance and software support

amd dropped physx support ages ago

Better AI hardware and software, better RT hardware and software, better encoding hardware and software, better developer support, better DX11, DX9 and OpenGL support.

Amd has never had physx support. It always ran on the cpu. And in those 6 or whatever games nvidia removed hardware physx support from, now nvidia performs like amd always has. So I don't know where amd shills get these dumb arguments from.

Literally the worst time to buy a GPU ever

In 2020/2021 an rtx 3060 was like 800$ and an rx 6600 was 600$

It aint that bad

no physx

That is no true. I'm playing Control right now with Physx.

5000 series is just a relaunch of the 4000 series but the die is bigger so they can fit more cores (and power consumption)

are the 50 series cards even any good?

no. I planned on buying at least a 5080 but bailed when I saw those benchmarks without dlss. you're just pissing away money at this point.

You know how AMD drivers were always a laughing stock? Now that includes Nvidia drivers as well.

as others have said 5070ti is the only decent card. 5070 doesn't have enough vram for a 2025 $550 card and the 5080 is not powerful enough for $1000, it's a 5070ti +10% with the same vram amount.

9070xt at msrp is also decent but where I love they are almost the same price as the 5070ti so I'd just choose that.

the vram is the same now and amd has worse vram compression so amd cards use 15-20% more vram at the same settings as nv
