It's not open world. There are levels that are wider and more spacious but still levels. It's a mix of linear and open levels. The first two Doom games are linear.

I don't think anyone is really going to remember Dark Ages much. It doesn't do anything intrinsically interesting. So when people troll with Eternal threads someone might troll those people with Dark Ages as well, but it won't be remembered for it's own merits.
