It was just a dream

It was just a dream

It was just a fake world

Games like these are inherently shit. You undermine the characters that are first introduced to you. They're rendered pointless and meaningless. You've now created situations to where if you try to praise something before the reveal, people can just shit on that by saying its not real. For example, lets say you really liked Lune or Sciel, you could try to express how their words and actions resonated with you and then you have some asshole going 'HEHEHEHE THEYRE JUST PAINTINGS, IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER, THEY DONT EXIST". You are now forbidden to like these things simply because they are labeled as fake. It's bull shit and it's bad story telling. This is why E33 is a bad game, it threw everything away just to tell a story about a dysfunctional family that consists of awful people.

1kt2x.jpg - 2560x1440, 912.81K

I can tell you haven't actually played the game because E33 does literally the exact opposite of what you describe. The game quite literally tells you that the world in the painting is just as real as that outside of it.

Who cares? This game is ass

its real!

its a painting

nuh uh they have FEEWINGS so its a real world!

buts its literally shown to be contained within a magic canvas that exists in the ‘real world’, and all people from the real world in the game acknowledge this phenomena as fake and delusional to accept as real

but the FEEWINGS!

OP is correct

No YOU are not. You're a retard

and all people from the real world in the game acknowledge this phenomena as fake and delusional to accept as real

Because they see it from god's perspective. The only one who understands is unironically Maelle/Alicia because she got to live alongside them for 16 years.

It's a great game with a not-very-good story. No need to be so dramatic and hyperbolic.

Stop being that the your asian waifu is just an imaginary waifu even in her own setting

OP's experience isn't real

if you don't play a gaym for 30 hours, can you really even have an opinion on it?

LMFAO
I played the game and deleted it because it seemed like pretentious garbage. I really don't care what retards that actually think this slop is worth anything think.

But thats wrong, those stories go like "we might live in a simulation too", which i think its boring, but it not the "everything is fake" route

implying I care for the characters

missing the point

play it again when you're at least 10 years more mature

missing the point

It threw away characters to poorly tell a lesson of

ESCAPISM BAD

I dont need your fucking pretentious lessons, you piece of shit game company.

ironically this game is the solution to the AAA bloated budget problem. The 400 million dollar Concord or AC Yasuke model is obviously no longer sustainable. How do we get gamers to buy AAA slop at half the budget? Shill expedition 69 as game of the year, have a bunch of tasteless normies exclaim how they would gladly pay full 100 dollars for it and boom we now have AAA slop at a fraction of the quality and cost, suddenly profitable again. Gamers are the biggest retard consumers. The same people who bought DLC while bitching about it.

All characters from all games are in fake worlds. Characters from any Final Fantasy game or from GTA5 exist as much as the painted Verso does.
You're just mad because you like some characters, but can't grasp the concept of reality. That ‘real world’ where the magic canvas exist may itself exist inside a canvas. And we may as well be living in a painting too, and it changes exactly literally nothing.

the writer and creative director admitted they left how it works purposefully vague so retards like you would lap it up

I pegged it was a fake reality when they called her the Paintress and you saw all the motifs even the beginning guy who painted Gustave and the girl before the expedition.

The only thing I don't get is who the fuck the "Writers" are.

You're mad at people you literally just created in your head, my friend. You say that "Gamers are the biggest retard consumers" but they just bought a good game for a good price. The game is good and big enough that they could have sold it for $60 + $10 for costumes that are unlockable in the game + $20 for the optional content cut from the game.

Explain how what I said is retarded then. Everything is only real in relation to other things. And you can never know there isn't a next layer of reality above yours.

Presumably they utilize Chroma through the written word? Like writing a passage and then manifesting it into reality temporarily?

because there's an actual story in the game where the complete opposite interpretation is valid. this game is just retard bait to get retards to organically drive up engagement. half you retards aren't even being paid

Writers

just a different branch of "artists" in the real world (who may or may not have the ability to create "worlds" as well)
would be a nice premise for a sequel to explore a world of literature

Yeah I was disappointed with the direction it took, turning it into a typical family drama over grief
Still an amazing game, but it didn't quite live up to the hype I felt for it in act 1

The characters were written so well the "It was all a dream" reveal didn't really matter but enhanced the story.

lol

the hype I felt for it in act 1

You literally have the end of everything set up in act 1 in act 2. Everything is there.

doesnt make sense

Yes, and that's the point. You can decide whether made up things can be considered "real". And you did decide, (You) decided that they are real, though you say they aren't. How? Because you literally care enough about characters from a video game, made up characters, enough to argue about this.
You care enough about characters from a game, then why could characters from a game not care about characters from a painting?

the premise of the entire world was too weird, so I already expected some meta twist

I just mean the mystery in intrigue as I progressed through act 1. The pieces are there, but it wasn't until a little bit through act 2 that I guessed where it was going completely, and when act 3 started I realized I guessed right and was disappointed

Reminds of Danganronpa and how people were mad when it turned out the fictional characters they liked were actually fictional characters.

dr2 game.jpg - 1280x720, 257.79K

Paintlets seething at realitychads.

dude let's destroy DR's legacy for the lolz

I'm still fucking pissed 1 and 2 got shat on in favor of the worst cast imaginable in DRv3

2 twist was actually good, V3 twist was shit and Expedition 33 is literally a better version of that.

Act 2 reveal was pretty fucking bad, the ending of the game almost saved it but the damage had already been done by that point

Well, for me it's V3 > 1 > 2, mostly thanks to the ending, but in terms of characters: 1 > 3 > 2.

Cogito ergo sum

HYPOCRITE THAT YOU ARE

How come this game gets praised for not containing any anime non sense but every post that try to spoil it is describing anime nonsense?

Whoops, turns out there isn't another way, we should all just die

Verso is an idiot and his biggest mistake was not saving Gustave.

What if I sided with Verso BECAUSE I wanted to kill everyone in Lumiere, force Alicia to live as a cripple, and shit on Aline?

file.png - 1080x607, 229.3K

it's all in the presentation

no boys that look like girls

no KYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHs

no weird camera cuts that show every party member go "UGH"

The game quite literally tells you that the world in the painting is just as real as that outside of it

Counterpoint : if that had any smidge of truth the Dessendre family wouldn't be so assblasted about Verso dying, they can just bring him back, or something equivalent to gestral resurrection exists in the real world.

That part of the letter is addressed to Maelle you dingdong.

i still remember the retardfest that was drv3 ending discussion when it came out and how all the dumb faggots here defended the ending by pretending it was illogical to dislike the metanarrative of prior events possibly being fake because "it's just a video game series it's already fake lmao"

it's just a video game series it's already fake lmao

And the funniest thing is that nobody has ever managed to debunk that and people who couldn't grasp concepts such as "reality" just kept calling others trannies etc.

You're a fucking idiot with negative IQ.

Yup anyone who tries to defend v3 is practically brain dead.

Maelle pease, your people believe we should die but I think you can find a way where that doesn't have to happen

kills Alicia

What did Maelle mean by this?

Maelle

White

Hebe

Lune

Asian/Hapa

Cunt

Sciel

Gypsy

Slut

I feel like there was room for another waifu.

if that had any smidge of truth the Dessendre family wouldn't be so assblasted about Verso dying, they can just bring him back

They don't give a flying fuck about Painted Verso, it's the real Verso's soul that is the problem, that's why they are stuck to that specific canvas and not fucking off to another one.

Which, again, would not be an issue if the real world allowed for them to bring Verso back to life in the real world.
The fact that they can only retreat into his painting to feel any semblance of him still alive proves that the real world and the painting are so different that one is not as real as the other.

you will respect the boundary between real world and not real world in my video game story

lmao

if this pocket universe is real then why don't they revive their dead son

What kind of leap in logic is that?

The whole point of you playing as Gustave in Act I is to appreciate that it is real.

Also it's a fucking videogame. If you're going to let something not being "real" prevent you discussing it seriously you need to find a different hobby.

Wake me up when someone has done an Expedition 60 run of the game (no level ups, all swimsuit)

Where's the leap? The claim was that the painting was just as real as the world outside it. The painting allows for resurrections and reincarnations, why does the world outside of it not allow that? The two worlds are as real as each other aren't they?

The claim was that the painting was just as real as the world outside it

It's a disagreement on what "real" is. Of course, the world outside the painting is cosmologically privileged, if you want to call it that, they operate on a higher dimension of existence. But it doesn't invalidate the lives and struggle or will to live of those inside painted worlds.

real means they have to follow the same rules

Why?

Because the discrepancy is what allows for a segregation of what's real and what isn't. If fake shit is as real as real shit then every single person on this board would be seeing visits from the FBI for lusting over Maelle, a fictional underage girl.

It's called having respect for you creations, your artwork and E33 doesnt have that. Instead it tramples on the characters in the game and it insults the intelligence of the player.

Bro you are playing video games it’s never real

I don't really care that the world is a painting. The really retarded thing is you walk around with a guy who knows everything for 2/3 the game. Every time something is revealed the other characters are mad at him for like 5 minutes because he didn't tell them and then they forget until they realize he is still lying. Insanely stupid plot.

They can't kill the paintress without him, so what else are they supposed to do besides seethe for a bit?

Because the discrepancy is what allows for a segregation of what's real and what isn't

So you aren't real because I can lust after 16 year olds in my country but you can't. Good to know.

The devs could just not add such a stupid party member to the party

You're so fucking stupid. With that logic, you shouldnt criticize a game at all, but you know what? Review sites exist, where you submit your thoughts and feelings on games. This is my review. E33 is dog water for pulling the "OOPIES ITS NOT ACTUALLY REAL XD" bit. Its not clever, its not funny. It ruins the experience and makes me never want to play it again.

ok retard

ETA until Clea finally gets porn made of her?
Asking for myself.

Sure. To you I may as well not exist. But if "le not real things is as real as real things" then you wouldn't be allowed to lust after 16 year olds in your country, now would you? Because some fake ass country has laws against it and fake is as real as real things.

be the change you want to see

No retard you have no logic. It just means

hurr dey sed it isn’t real

Isn’t a valid criticism. Employ your brain and come up with a worthy reason before you yap on Anon Babble

You're absolutely right. Which is sad because you're not real, so your argument is fake.

But you only acknowledge that my argument is fake because you apply my argument of there being a difference between real and fake people.

FUK ALL DAY SHIIIT NIGGA IMA KILL MYSELF

Bravo Verso

apologize to star ocean 3

Yes I acknowledge that you're not real. You don't need to convince me anymore.

I accept your concession.

Only missing two skills for Monoco, the one in the upper right corner and the one just below it. Anyone know what/where I can find these?

Ciel asks Lune does she trust Verson and she says and I quote “I trust he wants to destroy the paintress so our goals are aligned”. What the fuck were they gonna do? Question him about fucking everything when they already knew he was shady?

Alicia already wanted to die by that point because Verso ruined everything by being a faggot.

yeah dude, it's so unrealistic that people would stupidly follow somebody shady, even if they have misgivings. it's especially unbelievable that they would reason themselves into it. totally ridiculous representation of human behavior.

When the lies and manipulation catch up to you

No U

Typical e33 shill has no argument.

Verso doesn't really have anything to do with it. Even if Verso opened and read the letter then gave it to Maelle in the same night that he received it the letter explains fuck all and all Maelle would see of it is the creepy girl that's always around the old man who killed Gustave is going "NO KILL I" like a fucking horrta.

girl named Alicia

goes into a land full of wonders

Oh, I see...

it has inspired a story or two

Anyone know what/where I can find these?

Flying Manor

If the context was different I bet it would be his pleasure.

Maelle already knew something wasn't right with all the visiona she was having.

Either that or the Infinity tower.

It was just a dream

the dreamer chooses to die to preserve the dream world they created

Teenagers killing god.

This is bad.

Teenager IS "god"

"WOW THE WRITING IS SO GOOD!"

The entire human experience is nothing but feelings you absolute fucking mongoloid

Are you guys retarded or what? I'm not saying the characters did anything irrational. I'm saying it was completely fucking idiotic from a story perspective to put someone like this into the party in the first place. Every single story twist revolving around a character who just doesn't say anything is shit writing.

So what did you fags pick?

IMG_4087.jpg - 3840x2160, 472.25K

Yeah but how much would that change things though? She was still out on a quest of revenge against Renoir even after the big pointless reveal that he's Verso's dad.

I think you forget what website you're on. Majority of posters here are socially retarded so games like this fly over their head so in order for them to feel "smart" they bash the game.

I told her the truth why would you lie

ITT "I read a synopsis so I can shit on a video game I'll never play"

appeal to triviality

The letter mentioned Maelle being related to The Paintress and Renoir/Curator. If that returned her memories she could have fought for the Canvas control before Renoir used his death wave.

You can press CTRL to walk.

She will probably create another world
And there will be another Verso
Maelle is the true villain

maellefags say that the painting people are real and have agency

they also say that Verso shouldn't have the agency to die and should be forced to entertain Melle against his will

Huh.

Vershit is paying his prison time for global genocide. He deserves it.

Verso shouldn't be allowed to kill the others. Maybe you'll understand this one day.

Nobody says that lol
Those that meme about the piano man usually hate both Alicia and Verso and want them and the other Painters to suffer.

That'd come at the cost of letting painted Renoir live though (because they'd be going after Renoir rather than Aline in the monolith) and I just do not see her abiding by that at all.

lol she really did paint papa go home

IMG_4088.jpg - 3840x2160, 474.35K

That'd come at the cost of letting painted Renoir live though

Literally just go after painted Renoir before kicking off Aline, how is he gonna omelette du gommage if Aline is still restricting him?

That wasn't the argument.

So what were Maelle's nightmares early on in Act 1?

Why did Aline not paint a more comprehensible message than just a number for the people of Lumiere on there?

vagueposting
farming aura
ARG

She's an idiot and probably thought they got the message.

Simon is kicking my ass even on easy mode

BUNDA.jpg - 3840x2160, 1.06M

Everything in the story can be summarised by Aline and Alicia being fucking morons.

Don't 1 shot him.
Only faggots do that.

What is that hair on Maelle? It looks dyed over the white, like Verso's.

not enough space
it would have looked like writing on CDs back in the day and misjudging the letter size

When was Alicia a moron? When she preserved the lives of the people in Lumiere?

Aline and Renoir*

You seem to be confused. Renoir is the one that gommaged Lumiere. Painted Renoir is the one that killed Gustave. Aline isn't holding painted Renoir back in any way.

Name one thing Renoir did wrong.
Besides maybe torturing Simon. That was mean.

This.

like what? hello my little minions please attack this other demigod, the one that is wiping you out, so we might live a little longer
I don't get this argument

FUCK THE CLIMBING CHALLENGE

after like 20 fucking tries, I finally got to the top, and then fell off the edge while talking to the gestrals before getting whatever the fucking reward is. This is BULLSHIT!!!

Aline based Lumiere on her experiences in Paris

it has a disproportionately high amount of Black Africans (Paris did have thousands of them in that time period, but not that many)

the French high society was already very interested in African art and culture in that era, but it only became mainstream after WW1

Aline was a black hipster

woman sending mixed messages and expect you to be clairvoyant

Most realistic thing about the setting.

The game was cut, they didn't have the budget to finish it. It was based on some French book the CEO likes but the story was too complex. Now they have money and can make Clair Obscur Grais Edition and sell the real vision for another $40 and I for one would gladly pay for it.

When was Alicia a moron?

When she trusted the writers, leading to Verso's death.
When she lost her calm entering the painting, leading to taking an extra 16 years before she could be useful.
When she ran towards painted Renoir, leading to Gustave having to try to protect her even though he was hopelessly outmatched instead of the both of them jumping over the cliff to Esquie down below.
When she still went after the paintress after they had gommaged Painted Renoir in spite of Verso saying that they need to kill the paintress first before they can kill him.

Genocide.
Insisting on a second genocide and death of a universe despite her daughters pleas.

For me it's the melodramatic teenager who thinks her life is completely over because she's somewhat disabled

because she's somewhat disabled

Anon, let's not downplay stuff here. She has horrific injuries.

When she lost her calm entering the painting, leading to taking an extra 16 years before she could be useful.

Dude she gets swarmed by Aline's chroma the moment she goes into the canvas. Didn't even have a chance to repaint her throat. She was a severe disadvantage.

The story shifted hard after Act 1. That was probably already made and they used it because this was a day one game pass game, they never thought people would care this much.

She can walk, she has complete agency over her limbs. She has her sight.
Losing her voice sucks, but that's it.

Dude she gets swarmed by Aline's chroma the moment she goes into the canvas. Didn't even have a chance to repaint her throat. She was a severe disadvantage.

What is it with people getting spawncamped in the game? Same shit with Normandy and Painted Renoir

Monoco

If her lungs are scarred then every breath is agony. You can learn to cope, but it doesn't get better.

For me, it's the fact that une vie a taimer doesn't make sense for a battle against Painted Renoir.
I bet they wanted a big battle against Renoir and Aline and couldn't fit it in but already had made the song.

Dude she gets swarmed by Aline's chroma the moment she goes into the canvas.

Yes, and Clea tells her to just stay fucking calm through that, which suggests that keeping your composure plays a huge part in not getting swept up by a paintings chroma.

How is the same shitpost still getting so many replies
This place only has 50 users or something

Woman moment

What level are you anon? Like did you not even do sidequests?

I'm an honest man and would obviously choose Truth, but Verso is not capable of such thing, so it more in character for him to Lie.

pretty sure one of them was verso killing his gf from an older expedition, julie i think?

Wow, you're retarded

face fucked up

mute

half blind

somewhat disabled

Pretty sure she is fucked up a lot anon just one of those things is bad

i beat simon using monoco's break gradient. i put speed on everybody, combo attacks, and fill gradient on attack/crit. i had everybody attack to fill the gradient bar as quickly as possible, then monoco broke him. simon got to attack twice in the entire fight, which i was able to parry/survive. i think he did 30k total damage for the fight. i also had a comb of like powerful on attack, guard on powerful, and something else on guard (or some chain thereof). he didn't get to wipe the party, because he was stunned.

Guessing this must be used for some super op no hit build?

IMG_4089.jpg - 3840x2160, 418.69K

I acknowledge that you're basically a fake person.
You're lower than a hylic.

nope. it reduces max health to 1, so all of the % of health pictos don't work with it. as far as i could tell from looking around online, nobody had found any significant use for it other than increasing difficulty.

Yes. Felt like he was betraying them though.

Yeah I'm sure the girl who has been horribly disfigured and has no will to live and doesnt even know if she could trust her cold sister's words is going to stay calm while being attacked by her mother.

Because he did betray them instead of telling them the truth.
Painted Verso is unbelievably Machiavellian

That’s silly then, know I see some people using death stuff to make your other characters get a ton of buffs so thought it was something like that

I can't do Simon phase 3 yet

If we're operating on the premise that she actually did play with Verso in the portrait then that wouldn't have been her first portrait insertion. She should know how it works already.

oh no, painted verso lied to guard the truth. why didn't painted verso do what kindergarten teachers tell us to do, and always expose our motives so we can be manipulated by others. :^( dude...painted verso should have just been honest so the girls' feelings wouldn't be hurt. :^((((

I oneshot simon
I got the achievement
Therefore I beat him

How would she have known that? You're saying another one of the family members tried to paint over Alicia long before the fire? lol

Can't you use it to setup low health% before a fight by equipping and then unequipping?

oh yeah, i also had the 'fill gradient on gradient attack' skill equipped, which is what allowed me to keep him stunned. otherwise it took an extra turn to attack and fill, which often resulted in monoco being in the wrong order to stun him before he could attack again.

How are you so sure that being awash in chroma isn't a regular part of the insertion process? Your psyche is straight up diving into a world of paint.

When she trusted the writers, leading to Verso's death.

How do you know this?

Because Clea didnt say anything about chroma instantly attack before hand, she was more like oh shit you're suddenly being attacked by mom

every anon ITT would be willing to marry her

that's possible. the game does set health relative to the ratio of current health to max health when equipping health-changing pictos, though, so i wouldn't be surprised if instead of getting 1 health out of x after unequipping you get full health. it's worth trying.

He fucking killed her nigga, betraying his own oath that he'd bring them all back and fix Lumiere

I wouldn’t, way too small and I like a woman that can yap

I don't even know who or what that is.

That`s all true but Clea mentions that Alicia was locked in her room while her and Verso painted this canvas. I feel like her issues go beyond her brother's death.

awww, poor painted people are all gone now because evil painted verso didn't tell the truth. :^(((( he should have lied so the real world governments could form an organization to maintain the canvas in perpetuity and change alicia's diapers for the next 60 years. lying is ALWAYS WRONG

yes? it's just a rhythm game why are people making it out to be harder than it actually is? yeah it will take a few dozen attempts but once you get it "down" you can basically farm him for fun

it's Isshin and Malenia all over again it's not that crazy

Epilogue Alicia tells us that her naivety is what allowed the writes to use her to kill Verso.

k nigga

Just play the piano, bro.

i accept your concession, brainlet

contractures from the burnt healed skin

nerve damage leading to chronic pain and loss of sensation

trouble breathing due to scarred lungs

temperature regulation problems

half blindness, muteness and disfigurement affecting any prospect of a bright future

I think she's fucked.

He’s giving me more trouble than either of them. Of course he can be learned but also doesn’t need to be downplayed how ridiculously punishing he is.

Those fuckers lvled up, otherwise they wouldnt have made it to the paintress, needs to be a dlc or expansion around those guys tho

Talk like a retard, get no real reply.
Go waste someone else's time

Yes. It took a few tries and the phase where his sword does 2 extra swings per swing threw me for a loop, but I did beat him on the same difficulty.

i gommaged that nigga lmao

lmaaao.png - 1870x993, 1.24M

way too small and I like a woman that can yap

anon what the fuck is wrong with you

mate, people just make things up on the internet, especially retarded losers who suck at video games. simon is harder than sword saint and malenia, and seems to have been well-designed to force you to fuck with pictos and character setup to maximize engagement with the systems.

i am a retard

ok retard

The game could have just skipped straight to chapter 3 really, everything else is just time wasting since none of this is real. Nothing you did matters.
What a shit fucking twist.

I will never play this game, but I've been watching a few parts on youtube. The game looks the same from beginning to end, same colors, almost no change in the environments and always in a serious tone. It looks like a snooze fest, hard pass.

it's unironically about the journey you tard

why did they even make the game at all lol like just go outside and eat dirt lmao

Atleast we can all agree that they fucked up balance in the game right? Like genuinely capping damage is a pathetic way to balance the game? In the process of making sure you can't cheese Act 2 content, by capping damage it makes abilities with less than 3-hits fucking useless. Which is like half of the skills in the game.
Also why do you even get Painted Power after Act 2 rather than after beating Renoir? Final boss is obviously still balanced around damage cap. If you use Painted Power you basically just fucking DESTROY him.

You failed the IQ test just like all Marchecucks.

even considering this, and agreeing with it, i enjoyed the game for the combat, exploration, some of the characters and story, music, and animations.

More like I'm just too inteligent to give a shit about make-believe people that aren't even real in their own video game.

it's an homage to jrpgs, kiddo. they didn't fuck up the balance by adding painted power, you fucked up the balance by using it.

There is this really famous deaf musician dude, i think alicia with no speaking capability and one eye missing can overcome these minor issues like he did

You've breached level 1 of understanding. You have two more to go.

except the destination makes the journey pointless

So, couldn't Maellicia post Verso ending epilogue just paint a new canvas with all of her friends in it?

beethoven wasn't deaf for most of his life, moron, and his life was even more miserable when he began to lose his sense of hearing.

She could paint her own worlds and such

Yeah but she can't cope with same-but-different

"you fucked up the game by using the thing in the game"

"and not just like some turbo secret glitch that developers didn't intend but actual fucking ability a MAIN STORY BOSS awards you with"

so they are just retarded? alright then

Whatever you say Marchecuck.

They hated him, for he spoke the truth.

Story literally involving magic powers that can create realities and life

It cant be real because magic isnt real!!

Do you also watch Harry Potter and cry everytime someone uses their wand?

Painting.jpg - 1541x744, 417.87K

Not the same chroma, not the same people.

Different canvas, different chroma, different essence, different soul. Probably not, they could be convincing fakes, but not the same beings. Also Alicia is a lousy painter, in her endings you see she couldn't fix Lumiere, she poorly made a few people with wrong clothes then dozens of cloned NPCs, unlike Aline who made original people with free will.
Maybe in the Verso ending it's implied she still carries their memories and maybe if she improves she can give them a better life somewhere else. Or not. It's ambiguous.

no, it doesn't. the destination informs the participants outside of the canvas. let me guess, you didn't have breakfast this morning?

should just done drugs and blow her head off like all the artists usually do

So did you guys cry at any point in the game? I was expecting Gustave death to get me but it didn't. What end up getting was Esquie and Monoco hugging Verso

your kid dies

just have another kid lol

because she has the mentality of a 16 year old girl who had become attached to her delusions. she's a flawed character, not a vessel for your ideals.

Jesus Christ i did notice something was off with the people in the piano ending. I guess at no point we were guaranteed Maelle could actually recreate everything the way her exact mother had done. They looked outright soulless.

I feel like I have to play the game again. I didn't even remember that Aline and Renoir fought in act 1

Not that anon but the destination is rather irrelevant even with the journey provided. Nothing about them knowing that their painted people is ever applied to the story. It would have been better if the Maelle ending wasn't that retarded "play the piano whiteboi" nonsense and instead showed Maelle being a bridge between the painted and the outside worlds, like how she told Lune she'd be painting sceneries of the world outside.

Why would anyone cry for annoying Esquie, or Monoco who is guilty by association for killing of the Lumierians in the non canon version.

I felt moved by everything but didn't shed a tear until the choice fight at the end. I picked Maelle because she's my favorite and immediately regretted it once i realized what i had done.

I stopped caring enough to cry about anything after getting to chapter 3.

I guess at no point we were guaranteed Maelle could actually recreate everything the way her exact mother had done. They looked outright soulless.

The problem isn't that she's a poor painter, is that she also won't improve, she'll keep her few prisoners locked in endless concerts as long as possible.

Aline tells Alicia to fuck off from the Canvas back home

yet Clea points the blame on Aline when Alicia is being painted over

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......

hmmmmmm.jpg - 698x800, 119.91K

Lune reaction to her first and second Gommages. Verso deserves the piano.

you think you're making a point, but to anybody smarter than you you're just showing your limited ability for hypothetical conception.

I played it while my wife watched, I teared up more than she did. She said it was cute and hugged me.
Before you call me gay, I put my penis in her vagina later.

Supposedly Aline and Renoir doesn't know that Alicia is in the painting until painted Renoir does a bad touch on Maelle at the end of act 1.

neovagina

ftfy

As Lune would say, Verso and his fags are fucking cowards.

I feel like a talented artist should be able to create very close copies if not the same person. When Verso teached her how to bring people back he told her that she has to understand the person's essence and it seems Alicia could do that, at least in Verso's ending.

If god is real. Did your life not matter?
I genuinely find all of these

it didn't matter!

claims to be really odd.

Even the characters in the game agrees that it matters. Clea is like the only one who claims it doesn't actually matter at all, and even with her it seems like she was of a different opinion when she was younger.
Renoir repeatedly describes his actions as cruel and apologizes. He is just of the opinion that it needs to be done anyway.
While we never get many lines from Aline directly, she appears to be fully of the idea that the painted worlds matter.
Alicia too considers the painted world to be just as real as the outside world.
Young Verso was of the opinion that painted worlds have souls and matter. And nothing suggests that older and painted Verso ever dropped that perspective.
And the Lumierans obviously consider their reality to be real.

Why would you ever be of the opinion that it didn't matter?

It's not like she has a good life otherwise. Alicia will enslave her.
The whole story is a tragedy

Anyone have a good chroma farming spot, I'm stuck on Simon and want to fill out my picto options for better builds.
Right now I'm farming the last two fights in the drafts but a single merchant will take 80000 chroma to get all his stuff.

There are entire lines of philosophy exploring how life doesn't matter in our world (absurdists I think), so I don't see why anons wouldn't apply this same belief in a world like that.

the best spot i found was in renoir's drafts, right after the entrance flag. go down the ramp to the left & up the grapple point. past there is a triple blight stabby monster fight that gives like 28k chroma.

I felt pretty sad after Gustave's death but then the game revealed its dogshit twist about nothing being real and then I just felt pissed off until the end because I fell for it.

Alicia only slaved Vercuck.

i felt bad about this unreal death in a video game because in the video game reality it was shown to not be real

are you retarded?

You really think with how Lune kept going on about her parents that she'd fuck off watching a piano performance without them?

Look at the absolute state of Lumière in Maelle's ending, and the consecutive piano performances by Verso.
I don't think anyone is allowed to leave.

Nice, should be faster than fighting the creations.

It forced me to feel something about someone that doesn't matter at all. The scene was forced in hindsight.

She just enslaved one guy I swear!

it didn't force you to do anything. you felt something. the point i was making was about the irony of you being upset about feeling something exposed as not real that is part of something that is 'not real': you're feeling something about a video game. it's funny.

There are entire lines of philosophy exploring how life doesn't matter in our world

True. But then they'd say the same regardless of whether or not the world of Expedition33 was in a painted canvas or not.

you're playing a video game, none of it is real, retard

So fresh after beating the main story, what should be my next step towards doing a bazillion damage?

Who the fuck said Maelle brought back everyone? She clearly only brought up 33, MAYBE 34 and that's it.

Get the Cheater picto

Well I wouldn't have cared if I knew Gustave is some fucking painted OC of a schizophrenic old hag instead of a real character and the game knows this.

what should be my next step towards doing a bazillion damage?

Farming enough lumina points to slot in all the abilities that would boost your damage.
Also levelling up your gear to either 32 or 33.

it's almost like the game subverted your expectations by presenting the unexpected while subtly foreshadowing it.

that's a retarded answer and you know it

Nobody there looked sad except Vercuck. Everyone got their happy ending and Marche got to serve prison time for being a faggot.

Im thinking about Lune feet now

She brought back Gustave and Sophie, with the latter not being an expeditioner.
She brought back Gustave's apprentices, they're not expeditioners either.
Moreover, how fucked in the head is Maelle then that in spite of Lune going on and on about her parents that Maelle doesn't bring them back for her? It'd read as her not giving a shit about anyones happiness but her own, like the people she's around only matter for the joy their existence can provide her.

if I knew Gustave is some fucking painted OC of a schizophrenic old hag instead

But he isn't an OC? He's an established character in his world, he was born from a mother who had sex with his father, he is from a prominent guild with prestigious ancestors and was a man with his own goals and personality. Aline was a master painter and created humans identical to those anywhere else, like a God, generations before the fracture.
Aline doesn't hand make newborns, that's dumb, she can barely maintain them and protect them from Renoir. The Lumierians are autonomous.

Yeah, I wish it wouldn't completely invalidate my entire experience of the video game while doing that though.

retarded answer for a retarded post

it didn't invalidate your entire experience. your experience was valid. however, you (like maelle), are struggling to cope with the subjugation of your desires by reality. fascinating meta-consequence.

I'm sorry, I fucked up, I just wanted to show off

Is Monoco a good "person"?

Anon, I fucking despise Verso with every fiber of my soul and he needs to boil in shit for being a despicable lying snake that caused more suffering than he ever solved.
But I genuinely believe the Lumierians in Maelle's ending are lobotomized to fit her perfect unending stagnation. Without access to the same untainted chroma, Maelle couldn't recreate them as they are with the same mind, she isn't Aline.

They're not valid because nothing was real. The game was just wasting my time on purpose while silently laughing behind my back because I were such a dumb fool for falling for it.

they're valid because they're real. they're real feelings about a real game. you're hecking valid, anon.

Verso is a liar through and through, he's not capable of honesty, virtue, or goodness.

God I hate dogfags

Games like these are inherently shit.

I agree. The game is good but once I realized it was inside a painting, which was mid act 2, I stopped giving a shit about the story. Act 3 is fucking retarded both storywise and gameplay wise because everything one shots you so you are basically forced to do a 1hp build where you oneshot the enemy before it can attack. Which is fucking boring.

I picked Maelle ending just to make Verso suffer for being such a lying bastard his whole life

No I couldn't be bothered.

If his attack strings kill you in two hits, you die and then can't parry the next attacks and so you can't actually learn his moves.

It's basically one of the biggest flaws of having high damage comboes in this system. I don't mind being expected to parry an entire string but I need to actually get an opportunity to learn the timings - by having the first string be weak, or letting my ghost block it or something.

They're not valid because nothing was real.

Characters who disagree

Verso

Kid Verso

Renoir

Aline

Alicia

Characters who disagree

Clea, because she's a ruthless chuddette and wants to use them as tools

The story is a Greek tragedy, and it plays like that exactly because those people have a valid existence but their fate is toyed with by petty Greek gods and their drama.

Nevermind I found them, they were in Lumiere

Aline was a master painter and created humans identical to those anywhere else, like a God, generations before the fracture.

No. She only made the people of Lumiere with thoughts to coincide with that. Maelle calls Gustave a cartesian engineer even though Descartes should not be a thing within the painting by the mere fact that Descartes was not from Paris, which Lumiere is based off of.

imagine being such a direction brained retard that you can only like dogs OR cats

After all of him being an absolute goof, that line with that delivery was sad as fuck. Poor bastard.

I didn't mean that Aline created her humans as direct clones of people from the outside world, aside from her family, I meant that she could give them the same depth of existence/consciousness and inner mind as normal humans.
It's doubtful Alicia can do it, since the one time she tries without fresh chroma, she makes mindless puppets.

yes, because it doesn't matter. people out here still can't prove the universe is actually real. we could be a simulation. and if we are, does anyone give a shit that it isn't "real"? nobody is just going to voluntarily turn off just because jesus comes back and says "haha this is all a dream so you can vanish now and save me the trouble of erasing". and even if you live to old age, you still die and within a few decades not a single person will care or remember that you even existed. and even if you somehow make the history books, none of it will survive the death of humanity, the death of earth, or the death of our star. being real is just as pointless as being imaginary. either way you have no control over your existence or your legacy, but to you, it's the mere act of living that matters, satisfying your own desires, just as it would for a simulated person. which you might be.

Anon I don't care if some characters disagree, the entire world is objectively not real. It's a fucking painting, end of story. Every character that doesn't have someone based in the real world of the video game (the one where the Desandres live) behind them is just some painted being that can be snapped in and out of existence at will. I don't care about them. It's all just forced drama.

>It was just a dream

I used to read Word Up magazine.

What helped me is that the moves don’t cancel out after a character dies so you still get to see its full pattern every time.
What I couldn’t stand was the phase 3 kill and randomly being forced to use my benchwarmers to finish the job, something you can’t possibly anticipate and weren’t set up for it. Actually frustrating after finally making it that far figthing him fairly.

iirc they mention that Renoir and Verso did try to tell Expeditioners the truth at one point, but they didn't believe them so they stopped trying after a while.

Yes, I use a mod to double all chroma received. And yes, I will beat the game.

that can be snapped in and out of existence at will

That's the thing, this could be applied to anyone.

Should've unironically founded a religion.
You're immortal too, it would be self evident.

it's not forced drama. it's an accurate depiction of human power struggles over petty issues. it's a canvas, and a family is fighting over its outcome. that's what human beings do. you're fighting with people on an internet forum about a video game right now, and we're not even your family.

Dunno but he seems like the weakest party member by far, which is funny given his obsession with strength and fighting.

Simon's fight was so fucking good man. Directing, theme, arena, patterns, everything was perfect
I need more like this one

Gustave was the only interesting character and they killed him off super early, everyone else is boring as fuck and not engaging so I didn't really care what happened to them at all anyway

Which game has a chance of beating it out for goty?

25.png - 706x561, 893.42K

Just fight the merchant in drafts over and over takes like 5 min to farm enough to buy everything

Machiavellian

hope you know that Machiavelli's "The Prince" was satire and basically a high effort political shitpost, and only retards think he actually agreed with or encouraged any of those principles. Anyone who calls ruthless manipulation "Machiavellian" doesn't know shit

- Get Chevalam for Verso (from the Crimson Forest). You will mostly be using Steeled Strike and Phantom Stars
- Get Medalum for Maelle (either from Arena in Story, or from Golga in Act 3). You will mostly be using Stendahl.
- Ideally Sciel should have Litheson, but not required. You'll be using Intervention and Fortune's Fury.
- Load up on as many damage buffs on Verso and Maelle as you can, stacking them together. Utility like First Strike and Cheater are also needed.
- For Sciel, her job is to Auto-Death into Auto-Revive and then you give her a bunch of Pictos that proc on death/revive, to burn enemies/break enemies/give allies AP/give allies Powerful and Rush before the first turn even begins. Also it's nice to give her the ability to inflict Defenceless on attack, and the ability to Break with Free Aim.
- Win before the enemy can do anything.

The main goal in Act 3 is to hit up Sprong asap for Cheater, and then you're all set to scale further.

Only DS2. The reste doesn't have a single chance

Nah,

Pre-Painted Picto

Lune > Monoco > Sciel > Verso > Maelle

After

Maelle > Verso > Sciel > Monoco > Lune

That's retarded. That's like thinking our world, (You), the ones (You) love, etc wouldn't mean shit if a superior being created us

Only DS2 really.

Verso doesn't really have anything to do with it.

He didnt give the letter to Maelle BEFORE the group started going up the monolith

The "start in Almighty Mask" weapon for Monoco is great when you can open with the Duelliste skill to just delete an enemy immediately. That skill is fucking bonkers.

He did the pinky swear too. In Act 2 and 3 Verso is upset when people don't trust him. It was nice of Maelle to follow through on Verso's desire to play in the opera house.

Only Verso the rat got enslaved, and Lune was all for it.

Refer to

Like other anons said I can only see DS2 have potential and maybe Yotei? But neither first parts reviewed that amazingly so wouldn’t be surprised E33 already has it locked down.

They were killed by Nevrons so can't come back.

I wish more parts of the game forced you to use separate groups of fighters. Why would anyone spread focus on everyone when you could just have a team of elites?

This is a happy ending according to Maellefags

Their relationship wasn't all that smooth, AND she loves music but they don't, AND she likes Verso but they don't
Why the fuck would they need to be here? It's years after the ending you know, she had plenty of time to see them. I'm sure you don't do EVERYTHING IRL with your parents, right?

I enjoyed DS1 a lot but I would still put E33 ahead of it, but maybe Kojima can do some magic and surpass it with 2.

I spread across all five of them. It was fun, until Simon at least.

everybody hated this in ff9 though

Totally normal person btw, not being puppeted at all

Their relationship wasn't all that smooth

That's precisely why though. Their whole lives were spent in the attempt to defeat the paintress. Now that that's out of the way they can start trying to have a life as a family.

"uh, weird, why isn't Verso playing?"

I think that's a very fair and human reaction tbqh

That's genuinely Sciel wondering why that faggot Verso isnt playing the piano like a good monkey.

Did Sciel tell Pierre about you know?

About fucking Verso literally 5 minutes after learning her husband would come back to life in 48 hours tops? Yeah I'm sure she did, she's a respectable woman after all.

Sciel is a person who "notices" things. She does it all the time in the game, seeing things other only brush off or barely touch the surface.
I wander if she could notice something is not right in Maelle's repainted fantasy...

Verso creampied Sciel many times.
Lune made him pull out.

By far the best game in the trilogy and one of the greatest pleb filters of our time

Verso didn't romance anyone in my playthrough. I made sure of it.

DS2 is the only contender but I don't think it'll get it. Too weird and Kojima's stories tend to be fucking retarded. That and it being a direct sequel hurts its chances.

Only retards with zero intelligence think that.

Lune pre Act 3 is busted as fuck (Level is just cuz I did Frozen Heart and Dark Shore)

What would Gustave think of Verso fucking the women if he lived?

That it was bad and ruined the series? Agreed, absolutely.

No, because saying it was bad and ruined the series is the correct statement.

Verso cuddles with Monoco

Is Verso.. y'know...

I'm sorry you feel that way. I felt quite the opposite. There were many things about the first two games that were rather ridiculous and didn't really make sense even within the context of the setting, but V3's twist really recontextualized everything in a way where all those contrivances suddenly made a lot more sense. It was rather brilliant.

Yes he was fucking the family dog which is why he must play the piano.

So I just beat the game, Verso ending.
The Axon in old Lumiere... Is that Clea? Does Act 3 content explain just what the FUCK happened there? Because I haven't touched any of it yet.
Also any recommendations what to do next specifically?

She had already erased painted Alicia. There was no reason not to be blunt.

Does Act 3 content explain just what the FUCK happened there? Because I haven't touched any of it yet.

So you went straight to Lumiere when you entered Act3 is what you're saying?
But to answer your question. Yeah Act3's optional content does go into it. And it's one of the highlights of the game. Have fun!

It doesn't ever explain who the Axon was but you can infer that it's supposed to be Clea's axon

Visages is Verso

Sirene is Aline

you see the Reacher in Maelle's quest, it's supposed to be Alicia

All that leaves is the Hauler, who thematically fit Clea the workhorse

Also was killed by her Frankentein creation Simon

Visages is the coolest Axon

And by Recontextualized you mean trivialized everything that came before it. Kyoko, the ultimate detective? Not really her identity. She was just some floozy on the street that they kidnapped and slapped that name tag on her. Yeah real good, I love when characters I cared for get shit on my the works that come after it. But yeah no, DrV3 did irreparable damage just for the sake of it. Just to be different. No such thing as bad press right? If people are talking about it, they're talking about it. That was the mindset with the development of DRv3. Just make something so awful, so bad, that everyone hates and allows it to live forever in infamy.

I feel like it's pointless to discuss this game. People will keep whatever interpretation they came up with at the end of their own playthrough.

yjk

I've changed my interpretation of a lot of stuff after discussing the game honestly.
I don't know that I've had any full 180s on my view of anything besides Renoir's meaning behind the Axon's though.

Interesting. However, I disagree with your assessment.

I just got Cheater. What's a good thing to tackle next? Tried the big flying worm boss and got my ass kicked.

I think its safe to assume half the “its all fake lol at maelle fags” posts are just trolls who didn’t play it but read enough about it to shit on the passionate players who don’t want the world destroy. Typical childish /v nonsense.

That's fine. I disagree with yours. I will never advocate for making characters I like be shown in a bad light. That's just me.

Go do a bit of endless towers to get upgrade material for your stuff

Grind Clair Obscur for pictos

Discussing almost anything is like this, people rarely change their opinion, even more so in a story that heavily relies on your interpretation. I wish anons did more of the side content though. I feel like a lot of people are missing some important context you learn from there.

For as retarded as Mario 64 discussion got, no one argued that King Bob-Omb doesn't exist in the Mario world because Mario jumps into a painting first.

I think the best order to do things after beating the game is

Go to the red woods to get Verso's weapon

Do the quests for Lune, Monoco, and Maelle

do a bit of the Endless Tower

Dark Gestral Arena

Fight Golgra

Fight the flying serpent

Painter's Workshop

Flying Manor

Renoir's Drafts

that's similar to how I did things and I felt like it was a pretty nice difficulty curve throughout

I finished the game without doing any optional content in act 3 - just went straight for the final boss. I feel like the late-game combat is either bullshit or I fucked up. Once I reached the old Lumiere section of the monolith it became bullshit because I barely put any points into vitality and combat turned into nuke-or-be-nuked, as pretty much any combo by any enemy was a guaranteed kill, so I doubled down into damage % to nuke everything.

Did I mess up my builds or is that just how it is late game? Get OHKO'd until I master the rhythm game flawlesly>

he's never actually played it and never will

That's how expert works. Health and defense is nigh useless.

there are mods to make dodge/parry easier. But the general advice is to start with dodging since it's easier, until you learn the enemy combos. Also, there are almost always specific sounds that tell you when to parry, especially when the enemy's attacks are visually confusing.

Ok, but if I wanted a more normie-friendly experience, could I have actually put some points into vitality to make dodging / parrying at least somewhat optional, or missing it less punishing? Or does it just turn from "enemy kills you in a 2 hit combo" into "enemy kills you in a 3 hit combo"?

I'm having a gaming crisis. I'm looking at my backlog and all I see is garbage.

the secret is to watch their weapon, not their body.

I don't care about mods, and I did manage to do it in the end, but it was frustrating failing forward. It basically makes everything other than dodging / parrying meaningless as every fight is won by "learn the enemy attacks perfectly".

E33 got worse the longer I played it. Both story and combat. It's a decent game and I don't regret playing it but no second playthrough for me.

Stats don't do much in the end game compared to pictos. You can get some pictos that give you 2k health + defense. There a lot of options to make parry less mandatory but at this point you have to build for it.

I get that - I'm asking if I could have made dodging / parrying optional by making tankier characters or does that not matter in late game?

Depends on your builds. Since healing is useless in this game you can use Lumina like Confident, Solidifying, In Media Res, and Defensive Mode to reduce damage. That's what I did and my characters were usually able to take like, a couple hits on Expert aside from attacks from like Simon.

I just want Bracers for Maelle mod now.

So what was the point of the countdown? Would it reaching 0 mean renoir wins/alina finally reaches being in the painting too long and dies? Feels like it's never brought up again.

Game frames it as a warning but it's a reference to "La Horde du Contrevent" that counts its pages backwards.

The story went to shit exactly when Gustave got killed off

Your main male lead who is also reacting so realistically to all of this awful shit that he was gonna commit suicide found resolve in the way of staying alive to protect his adopted sister-daughter

He mans up very fast and keeps a cool head despite having a breakdown earlier

Doing very good, everything is going well

gets killed off by magical old man, humiliatingly too, a fucking one-shot in a cutscene and then you play as him dying in actual combat-gameplay

mysterious magical guy swoops in to save Maelle

suddenly everyone just welcomes him, he's the replacement for Gustave

the women wanna have sex with him

he just joins the team and he's very obviously shady as fuck but fuck it

suddenly PAINT PAINT PAINT FAMILY DRAMA PAINT PAINT

shady guy was a cunt all along oh wow who could have seen this coming

MORE PAINT, DRAMA, MAGIC, FAMILY DRAMA MAGIC PAINT PAINT CANVAS PAINT

At least the gameplay is very fun, but I hope they go the Final Fantasy route and every new CO game is a standalone adventure and they don't double down on the family drama and painting shit. The setting was perfect for a good story about this team of underdog expeditioners finally succeeding despite their awful circumstances but they went with awful family drama instead. The exact turning point was Gustave dying. After that, they introduce the self-insert male of someone from the dev team probably. Everyone likes him and he's super cool and mysterious and has a DMC style meter wooow he's totally not a shady cocksucker. At least the robot monkey thing is entertaining.

I feel like removing the damage cap was a mistake gameplay wise, so I agree with you. The performance also got worse for some reason. I still liked the story. I guess that last part depends how much do you end up liking Verso.

The countdown is Aline displaying the age of people she can still save as she is getting weaker over time. Once it reaches 0 then everyone would be dead aside from the Painted Family. Presumably Aline could die at that point but they never say the straight up

I suspect that people choose their ending based primarily on which character they mostly used while running around. AKA Maelle fags are literal fags who preferred running around as a teenage girl, while Verso fags are actual red blooded males.

The music in this game fucks

The sky serpent is tricky, but Leadership Verso makes him pretty simple. His one artillery attack is a pain in the ass just due to the camera angles though.

Nothing in the game made me cry until the Verso ending, in which I cried harder than I can remember doing since I was a kid, complete emotional wreck.

I agree with everything in this post. Sums up my feelings very well.

I felt the exact same way. And I have written way the game was made less without Gustave even if they kept the Canvas plotline, which itself I think less than a story about overcoming great odds and finding oneself at the end of the world.

Verso is a lying sack of shit so I picked the appropriate option but then I realize I fucked up and savescummed to max her social link

We love Marche here
We love Verso here

actually the most retarded thing i ever read

it made me feel but i realized later that it was actually fake feelings

you're the fake person retard

It's a video game so none of it is real anyway.

Yeah I pretty much agree with this. It wasn't long after burying Gustave that I stopped caring. Around old Lumiere is when I stopped giving a shit.

Do they explain anywhere why there are some enemies who are sentient and looking for a purpose?

Yes, the last white nevron explains it. They're located at the fountain

painted clea is a crazy bitch who is losing/lost her mind and sometimes paints fuck ups.

Okay so you're not allowed to like video game characters now. I forbid it.

I don't even have a problem with Verso showing up, my issue is that Gustave's death is actually pretty fucking irrelevant. It doesn't serve to teach Mael a lesson or anything, because Mael is actually Aliciia and her REAL brother died already. Everything becomes about the family, even the fucking Gustave's journal thing they could have used to explore how she can learn to cope or some shit really only exists to have her unlock a fucking gameplay skill. They don't even revive Gustave's kid students that were supposed to receive it or anything.

She revived gustave and his wife so the journal isn't needed.

Yeah in the bad ending you're not supposed to select, and he doesn't even get any dialogue lmao

I've been saying this but all I've been met with is "filtered" from zoomers and shills who think this is the most original plotline of all time as if this type of cynical subversion bullshit hasn't been done to death for the last 20 years. Gustave's determination and performance was the only reason I gave a shit about anything, to rugpull it into being a less interesting different story makes it incredibly hard to get invested, and none of the characters really make up for it in his absence

yeah true if you ignore half the game

You're mistaken. Bad ending looks like this

BE.jpg - 662x566, 29.25K

there's 30 minutes between Gustave dying and the Tulpa of Alicia's dead brother joining the party.

And you know the funniest? His death is like the death of the expedition himself. Sciel and Lune become practically non-characters, and while Maelle is a bit alive whilst she grieves for him, very clear we figure out she's more special than she seemed already.

To be fair for me the story picked up after Gustave died. He was a total basedboy cuck whose only role was to be an ally to the strong womyn in his life. Constantly apologizing and only continuing for the sake of Maelle. The mystery after they get rid of his whiny ass was far more interesting. Renoire is a much better written and interesting character.

Im not playing anything else for a while time to take a break

that's not even in the post i replied to schizo

clea is beating my ass

I think once the honey moon phase ends, people will come to terms with how bad the story really is.

must be hard having 1 braincell in your head

concession accepted

it wasnt tho

It was as real as this post you're reading is real.

Yeah this game is unbelievably bad, it's amazing how low IQ Anon Babble is

Filtered.

Being a contrarian and hating everything doesn't make you smart. Just a coward who is afraid of being sincere.

Proving me right

2 more weeks saarr

I meant 33/34 and down. She brought back Sciel's husband. Clearly Lune isn't as selfish so she just let things stay as they are, her parents died, that's it.

Nah I’m not a zoomer but I am going to judge you for acting like one

I know you are but what am I

Commendable effort, retard

Derp. I don’t know for sure that you are a zoomer but your inability to read does prove you are esl

Writers....

That image is funny, but real Renoir doesn't express this opinion once. The only character who seems to hold this viewpoint is Clea.

For those who come after, right?

That moment so quickly becomes meaningless that it is unreal. Especially if you take the side of the argument claiming that all painted people are just mindless npcs. No one comes after, all Lumerians eventually get wiped and then treated as afterthoughts, the torch that Gustave carried doesn't even get to be passed on to Maelle, since she effectively dies and just ends up being Alicia and only caring about 'muh Verso'. The Lumerians overall constitute a vestigial plotline in the face of the irresponsible and over dramatic creator gods, the Dessendre family.

It's presented in a more meaningful way than any other of those other games. We can thank Japanese shitty story telling for that.

once the honey moon phase ends

Already happening, even normies seem to be criticizing the direction the story took. Honestly surprising even, I wouldn't expect the average member of the current gaming audience to really think about the plot of a game they play, just consume and move on to the next one.

I'm sure being told to git gud by the family prodigy when you can barely hold a paint brush and are actively drowning in paint is helpful advice.

You had 5 characters worth of lives (plus any resurrects you can pull off) to practice per attempt, not to mention the attacks continue regardless of whether you've died so you can still learn the timing, and each attack is blatantly announced in advance.

I can tell you watched a streamer.

might as well be a bot post

Renoir

oh yeah damn you right he genocided for his little girl so it's noble

The only cases of people being controlled involve them being painted over, and that's by painters far more skilled than Maelle who aren't suffering from prolonged canvas exposure.

its just nihilism with a coat of paint, dont get your panties in a twist pardner

Anon... You were meant to dodge/parry.

my issue is that Gustave's death is actually pretty fucking irrelevant. It doesn't serve to teach Mael a lesson or anything

The lesson is for us. The entirety of Gustave's arc is to show you the painted people are real, based on your emotional investment in Gustave prior to finding out the truth.

HUEHUE IM GONNA SPOIL A GAME THAT JUST CAME OUT IN THE OP SO THAT PEOPLE THAT DON'T COME IN THE THREAD WILL HAVE THEIR EXPERIENCE RUINED I SURE LOVE SUCKING COCKS

hope you die of anal bleeding OP

file.png - 1615x806, 1.78M

I didn't care about Gustave and forgot about him immediately.

Shut up Verso.

I'm not hearing piano music.

He was pretty funny and cool, his death didnt hit me nearly as hard as the endings did though

since she effectively dies and just ends up being Alicia and only caring about 'muh Verso'.

Did you miss the part where she explains she's still Maelle? It doesn't take the smallest amount of literary comprehension to understand she wasn't just picking her preferred name.

Renoire is a much better written and interesting character.

lol I am fake and killing people to keepmy fake family alive. Wow. So deep.

said verso

She is but she isnt, because shes both now

Gustave is the only reason you can even get past Dualist and shit beyond that.

Sup Alicia

t. retard

Deeper than your neovagina will ever be.

I lost interest when Lune got angry at Verso about lying and his response was 'it's none of your business' and they just accept that and carry on. The characters are written as retards because anyone with a brain can see Verso is not trustworthy. Like Julie in the journal, who Verso killed and Maelle feels sad for Verso about it. LOL

I actually identify as Maelle

And yet her ending only really concerns Alicia's fixation, piano boy Verso. The point is everything Lumerian becomes secondary. Pretending that this is a matter of 'media comprehension' changes nothing.

I didn't care for him either, why? because his kit wasn't fleshed out. His death was coming a mile away. If he had a fully fleshed out kit that was strong, I would've cared gameplay wise, at least.

Once Verso admits he let Gustave die and Alicia TRUST HIM MORE because of it, I knew everything had become a joke.

spoilers in OP

its too late dog, all the spoilers are out at this point. Everything about this game's story is proving contentious in the worst ways, so nobody cares about spoilers at this point.

Everyone loves Verso so much they trust him no matter what, even after he tricks them into wiping out their people, even themselves. They get a little salty and just keep sucking his dick.

What's so great about this guy?

They get a little salty and just keep sucking his dick.

What's so great about this guy?

Well, going by your post, his dick.

I shot this Artorias motherfucker one hundred gorillion times in a minute and I don't feel bad after I got him to 40% properly and he went

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: HAKAI, NIGGA!

Even his mother was sucking it. What a gary stu

Literally what would the expeditions do besides suicide themselves into Nevrons and sap more of her power?

The one expedition that did make it to the Monolith apparently figured shit out and headed for Renoir - so maybe she did explain it to them. But they didn't stand a chance because Renoir and Clea/Simon aren't chumps

she actually lets him get away with it

tfw the painted world just becomes clown world

God forbid the character with the power to do so wants to keep her loves ones alive and give them the opportunity to experience normal lives.

I somewhat agree with the sentiment against the twist but at the same time everything you listed makes it work more. The Lumiere people are dealt a bad hand and suffer due to a grieving family too absorbed in themselves to give Lumiere any respite. To the very end they suffer and die and even if you interpret one ending as the happiest it can be, they are still on a short timer before their world is wiped. Its the great tragedy of the game and the focus shifting hard from saving all of Lumiere and the characters to just the Dessendres makes that tragedy sting more.

Verso is truly one of the best video game villains in years

what a gary stu

That nigga even broods and has a silver slick of hair and a cool eye scar. Whole story and most character motives virtually revolve around him by the end. He should've been identified almost on sight as a gary stu when he showed up.

Bruh, Maelle literally only met Verso.

Villain

is versofags vs maellefags going to be the new multi-decade argument?

I know this may be incredibly unrelatable for you, but it is possible to have strong fond feelings for someone in a short period of time, especially when you've just survived one or more apocalypses together.

Yes, that accurately describes a character who manipulates the main cast into destroying the world

No one takes Maellejunky AGP escapism troons seriously

HIS world
HIS soul
HIS rules

Dude, they all know that Verso isn't trustworthy and is probably lying about shit, but he's still a valuable enough resource that they just deal with it because they don't have any other good options.

It'll be right up there with the Skyrim Civil War and Edelgard vs Dimitri threads.

Sure, if the person does positive things that give you fond impressions of them. But like everyone in the thread's been saying, Verso's been feeding lie after lie after lie.

He is a painted copy. He has sapience of course, but none of those things are his. They belong to the real life Verso.

Well I'm not necessarily against her ending. But it still emphasizes yet more Dessendre drama over the Lumerians, so I don't really care for it.

Pretty sure Lune got a fond impression of Verso cock against her insides in my playthrough.

kys yourself to death

It’s funny how the twist explains why lune and sciel were acting retarded the entire 2nd act, Aline literally designed all of her creations positively towards Verso, he literally can do anything he wants

The real Verso's soul also wanted to stop. The Painted Verso was the only person looking out for his real self.

they don't "just deal with it" though they accept everything he says uncritically and give no indication of distrust whatsoever.
surely there's something between that and refusing to listen to him at all?

...who agrees with him

Its the kind of tragedy that I feel is more or less entirely unplanned in the context of how they intended the story to be told. It is nice that you appreciate tragic storytelling, I can as well, but I wouldn't rush to credit the writers for that.

Ah, people who picked Maelle didn't get the game stopped being about the expeditions and Lumiere after act 1.

Not one of the Verso souls throughout the game expresses this feeling, and only the mute one at the end who seems impressionable enough to go along with whoever's most forceful nods when asked if he's tired.

They belong to the real life Verso.

The real Verso's soul, given the choice, opted to hold painted Verso's hand and walk away from it all instead of swatting the hand away to continue painting.

Painted Verso didn't give a shit about Verso's soul until the very end. You think if the Soul wanted to keep painting then that doppelganger would gladly accept it?
I am saying this as someone who chose Verso's ending twice. Fuck Verso.

who seems impressionable enough to go along with whoever's most forceful

cope

Aline and Alicia entered this world and stayed because they supposedly miss Verso

Keep a tortured sliver of soul slaving away and painting instead of letting things run it course

The entire family is full of CUNTS. Verso didn't ask for any of this and Maelle is a cunt for not letting him die.

There are multiple little Versos that talk about being tired towards the end. I was considering picking Maelle but at this point I couldn't see a reason to do it anymore.

Yeah, everyone in the thread already agrees that it stopped being about the expedition and Lumiere after Act 1, obviously. So that degenerate Dessendre could whine into infinity about their trauma of losing a single member while taking out their grief upon all Lumierians, who have objectively suffered far more loss than the Dessendres. Just aristocratic frogs larping as gods and creating suffering much like the worst gods often do.

instead of letting things run it course

What is letting things run it course? If a sliver of a soul is entrapped to a painting the moment it's painted wouldn't letting things run its course mean the soul stays painting forever until the painting is physically destroyed in the real world?

Truly, the writers didn't go far enough

They should have written Clea erotica for me to read, those bastards.

I assume it could just stop painting without a paintress forcing it to keep going, then the paint would just rot away like any other normal painting. At the very least things would be much more peaceful for it without people forcing their will into the world.

What the fuck is the deal with all the weird hairstyles and outfits? Who would EVER want their characters to have gestral hair??

The real question is why there's no Gestral hair for Monoco

it's hard to miss

Verso?

nope, doesn't ring a bell

How hilarious would it have been if Maelle's response to this is to grab her by her shoulders and then spin her to face Verso?

I didn't quite get how much she despised Verso at the time.

Father - Dead

Mother - Permanently deported

Sister - Incorrectly presumed dead

Not to mention she's suffering from everything Maelle is trying to escape.

She was too pure for that canvas.

Renoir

Trapped beneath Monolith

Painted Clea

Trapped by Aline (or her Nevrons?) something something Simon. Also re-painted herself, or Clea painted over her?

And Clea made Nevrons to delet chroma to help Renoir against Aline? Who is recycling her oldest creations to keep them safe, or something.

"Are you winning, brother?"

"The fire happened years ago, it wasn't your fault, Alicia, you need to let me go."

Thanks, frogs.

Trapped by Aline (or her Nevrons?) something something Simon. Also re-painted herself, or Clea painted over her?

Painted Clea was painted over by real Clea, forcing her to act as a print factory for nevrons. She's not so much trapped as she is incapable of choosing to leaving.

Presumably Clea imparted a portion of her painter powers upon her which is how she is capable of creating nevrons, and also how she is able to commit suicide once she regains partial control once beaten, despite the painted Dessendre family having involuntary immortality.

She effectively changed the code of clea.exe and made it propogate viruses to fuck up the OS because Renoir wasn't as good a code monkey as Aline? Fuck is up with Simon anyway

This nigga got ridiculous powers from someone (Aline?) and saved Clea (by killing the Clea Axon?) and gradually got mindfucked by Renoir? Also can straight up rip your VR headset off

This nigga got ridiculous powers from someone

Clea. Whether it's painted Clea or real one I don't know.

After Clea painted over Painted Clea she pretended to be Painted Clea and convinced Simon into marching upon the Paintress while bestowing him with the power to do so (whether he realised he was given power at the time is unknown).

Simon destroys Hauler (possibly just because he's in the way), makes contact with the paintress, but learns the truth about the world and Clea's trickery. The Paintress convinces him to hunt down Renoir (and possibly gives him power also), but Renoir slaps him and attempts to control his mind.

He sits down there since the start of the game, fending off Renoir's influence and trying to hold onto his sanity. I would assume if Renoir had succeeded in controlling him he would have sent him out as a weapon. The fact that we find him just sitting there suggests he managed to hold on, probably ensure he isn't used to erase the canvas that contains his Painted Clea, all while knowing he will likely never see her again.

The story turns into a soap opera plot and it sucks. I don't care about crying mother and her husband who wants her to stop playing minecraft and cook dinner.

What is that stuff Clea tells him about saving her? Is that real Clea talking to him in that moment? As painted Clea is probably gone, as most people are gonna do manor before abyss.

My belief is that it's his imagination of Painted Clea motivating him. During the first phase you're fighting the shell of Simon who's just been holding on. In the second phase you're fighting Simon who remembers he is fighting for Painted Clea.

It could just as well be Clea though depending on what Clea actually said/did to him in the first place, but I like my theory the best.

I'm uncertain of what the significance of his hair going white is though.
