Was Civilizations 2 the one that let your combat units scale up with what age you are in? I remember one of them I had a spearman unit that turned into a spearman with a laser spear in the modern/space age and it was a pretty neat feature. I don't think any other Civilization game kept that feature of allowing you to advance your units to match the age/era you were in.

Pretty much. Heroes of Might and Magic, assuming he meant the first one, is the only one that is so-so whether one can call it a really popular game. Second game definitely was.

III had the worst cast, writing, ships, and story of the franchise. Also introduced the shitty live-action cutscenes, since Chris Roberts wanted to be a BIG HOLLYWOOD DIRECTOR.
If he'd said 1 or 2(preferably 2) it would've been perfect. I also would've respected 4, even if it would've dragged it away from perfection.
On the other hand though, he could've said Strike Commander instead, so at least he dodged that bullet.

Actually let me clarify, there is a good UT, and it's UnderTale.
Unreal Tournament sucks with the sole exception of Facing_Worlds which is the single good thing from that entire series.

The gameplay was a step back in pretty much every way, though admittedly the interactive movie aspect of it was very cool at the time. But the allure of FMV games died out pretty fast.

If he's gonna put a space combat game from that era, it should be Tie Fighter. Nothing else was even close.

Defense of the Ancients 2 is another "game-ified" mod. It's one Warcraft 3 map that was made 22 years ago scaled up visually and made into a single game.

Aside from the similarity to Warcraft 3, it's hardly real time strategy.
