As everyone said, Nintendo owns publishing rights of other games because nobody wanted to make a sequel to the game. They tried to pitch it to Playstation and Microsoft and they didn't want to do it. Only Nintendo stepped up. I remember a lot of people seething at Nintendo for exclusivity even though the other companies had the option to make it happen and they didn't. For better or worst, Nintendo was the only ones that funded the games sequels so they have a say to keep it on their console. If you want them on PC, either convince Nintendo to do it or buy it out from them.
Pretty darn important considering how much time you spend behind them in games.

The bigger issue is that Nintendo is antithetical to PC releases and cross platform the way the others are not. They probably could have crowdfunded a multiplat sequel especially at the time. Same thing with Astral Chain - legitimately well done title, but limited because its stuck on Nintendo systems.
