The issue is that modern Dragon Ball doesn't understand why people liked the fights in old Dragon Ball

It wasn't because of the transformations or the big energy blasts, it was the context surrounding the fights. Transformations had build-up and weren't just asspulls (until Super Saiyan 3)

We liked the fights not just because they looked pretty, but because we were invested in the story

DB has been dead ever since Toriyama decided to bring it back from the dead with Slopper and Toei/Shueisha/Bamco decided to milk it as much as possible from the on, though it's not like they weren't doing it already considering shit like Heroes already existed.

Its depressing that Sparking Zero and DBFZ haven't gotten this kind of support. Atop this, Xenoverse 2 has the sort of consistent PvE / Co-Op campaign content that is nice to see as well as just PvP faggotry; its a pity the other two didn't have the kind of UPDATED campaign depth that we saw with XV2 as well as stuff like even fighters like SF6 (or Soul Calibur VI for that matter); DBFZ for instance had a nice campaign, but did dick all with it with any of the new characters in any of the seasons post launch if I recall.
