Yet another Bungie disaster

youtube.com/watch?v=D7wZ2tpjrmE

Leadership want to make Destiny charge a subscription fee

They are constantly getting mad in game armour is too nice looking and artists need to "think about their impact on eververse sales"

Multi Million Dollar rape penthouses to "crash in"

Anyone that says putting player experience over monetisation is insta fired

So they are fucked right? theres no recovery for Bungo this time.

Marathon.jpg - 2048x1152, 367.99K

Not really. The greedy fucks who pushed for these changes are getting a golden parachute.
The devs that are forced to crunch and sacrifice personal connections, while knowing that these policies and their messaging are stupid but are unable to do anything about it since they'd just get let go if they pushed back, are gonna be forced through another round of squid game for Petes last hooray.
The reason why it wont instantly implode is because you still have people out of the loop who are addicted/get their fix from D2 and nothing else. Who will be willing to pay for it since they more money then they do time.
And they arent gonna sacrifice that hour to do something new since they already bought in to D2 and are emotionally invested in the time and monotony it took to get the rolls in their vault.

Multi Million Dollar rape penthouses to "crash in"

AAA gaming has become unsustainable

with bungie you blame every single person in there, not just the higher ups

Nah, Im not gonna blame devs on teams that are trying to do something cool, and either get shot down by a manager being pushed to meet a quota or have to see whatever they're doing come out malformed because of a lack of resources, a engine that5 gets moody on compile, and time.

I hate Bungie so I am glad this is happening but remember these people laid off were most likely diversity hires who tend to exaggerate things but serves them right for hiring them

Bungie devs would routinely go on twitter and shit on customers so no fuck them

We've already gotten confirmation that decisions like how armor looks so it doesnt mess with the Eververse store and deciding on a what genre a game is (i.e. marathon) are directly affected by Bungie leadership. And that the on-the-ground devs get nothing if not the door for attempting to pushback on that.

Im not gonna trust shit on Twitter when context dies by design on that platform.
And i aint gonna make a value judgement on all the employees where contractors turnover like a kid discovering coke for the first time based on the whims of "Bungie Leadership."
DOnt even know how far that in-group of "good ol boys" goes and influences others.

People desperately want that feeling bungie gave them with halo 3 and it's never coming back, this company might as well be a corpse piloted by the specter of greed.

I will trust when the staff gleefully push woke shit and shit on their customers when they are critical with game decisions. They are equally bad. All those managers were ex devs

t. executive monkey trying to shift blame

Please show me which higher up told robert brookes to make his fanfiction about saint and osiris canon
All of bungie deserve to be fired

>Leadership want to make Destiny charge a subscription fee

This.
It's like biblical Sodom and Gomorrah, there are no longer any innocents there.

The funniest part is that according to law profits must go up yet at the same time they must also comply with ESG/DEI/CSR to compete in the market, they are in quiet a pickle.

How do you even fix something like this?
Would they have to look over and fix every single texture in the game, as well as make changes to the aesthetic? Would they still be liable for a lawsuit from the original artist?

And then after all that still hope that people will be interested enough in Marathon after the controversy? May as well just cancel the game at this point

everything about modern day is a sort of hilarious double hypocrisy/irony situation, like the movie Brazil where the biggest crime is illegally repairing people's air conditioners.

everything is like this, be a degenerate crackhead nigger and the system gets you 5 million chances, steal money from rich people and they put you in jail forever.

its just a joke, its all just a joke really.

they are absolutely liable for a lawsuit if that artist ever stopped being an Autistic Troon (just assuming they are since they are ""female"") who's too lazy or has too much naive good will to do it.

The greedy devs are also getting a pay check to make this garbage anon. Unlike your r*ddit antiwork moderador ass they don't do it for free. If anything the execs are more distanced from the end product and I can give them the benefit of the doubt.

nta but I'm pretty sure the troon would still lose on account of bungie having access to better lawyers, more shekels and probably some technicality in their favor about copyright laws since the troon afaik didn't copyright claim any of xer's art and posted it publicly on xitter but I'm not a lawyer so I dunno

Subscription fee won't fly with this game. I like D2 a lot, but I'm not putting thousands of hours into it. Some people do, and I understand why they are constantly so upset about the game. At the end of day it's not an mmo, and there's just not enough content to grind through that would warrant a monthly fee.

Didn't watch. Bungie has always been shit. This is the first thing by them that isn't. If it's good I'll pay for it.

Sony doesn't like good things though. It closed Home, cancelled The Getaway (3), stopped Killzone, killed Wipeout and the team behind Ico & Shadow of the Colossus. Let The Last of Us 2 happen. Returnal Devs are making Saaros.

Sony are the antiwhite when it comes to games. If it's good it deserves better than to be with Sony.

no, anon, they admitted fault on livestream, retard.

its over, they admitted damaging the artist, the entire point of a lawsuit like this is to prove damages and intent and that they even did it.

Bungie threw themselves at their feet and is just hoping that's enough to dissuade them.

I'd subscribe if they removed power and the artifact

i like d2 a lot

you disgust me

sub fee won't fly

we bought yearly expansion and seasons
the only difference is that it's not every month

Bungie has a thousand people or whatever. If not, at least several hundred. Most of those are just devs who want to make vidya, or people who don't give a shit and just want a paycheck. It's probably 25 to 30 people who are the execs and crazy DEI boosters that are bad.

Give me the qrd on the stolen art stuff
How much was actually stoled? Did they knowed?

likely hundreds of peices were slapped all over the textures of the game.

and this is simply the known theft, Sony will have to send an auditor to find out the extent of their theft now, and they have to redo all of it.

I'm not buying it, this crying about higher up is always what bungiedev use when shit goes bad to gather sympathy from people
they did it when they were under activision
they did it again when they were indie
now they're doing it again when they're under sony
Higher up are massive niggers, but they're not the only one to blame

mfw I remember Sony paid 3.6 Billion for this

they got the ole honey pot scam, Bungie hollowed themselves out and now when Marathon launchs as a complete dude, the C-suite people at Bungie will vanish like fucking mist, likely very very soon after launch, or whenever they get their bonuses.

Sony is the bag holder here, in a big way.

this lifecycle is absolute, its true of Governments, corps, everything, they always slide to failure because of initial success.

I've already said it but I'll say it again: it will only stop when the corrupt global financial system will completely crumble. Otherwise the fake FIAT money will bail out these corpos until everything else fails too, and then it will be too late.

This is what degeneracy looks like, anon. It's not the first time in history this is happening. How do you think all the former empires fell? The only questions are how much time it will take and how it will happen.

You can never break this cycle.

I wish it would hurry up, living in the decline is the worst of all options, the collapse is at least exciting and presents opportunities even if its rife with chaos and death.

as is, we are in the worst part of civilization lifecycle, where there is no opportunity, no hope, everything WILL get worse, but it will continue for our lifetime.

imagine seeing this and believing in god lmao

oh..

but you can.

niche artist (nickname 'antireal') makes a bunch of posters and logos in the 'vectorheart' style back in 2017 and posts them on his twitter

Bungie artists know about this antireal guy and start following him on twitter

Bungie artists like the style and (presumably) save a bunch of the guy's artworks for reference materials

something happens at Bungie and a bunch of antireal's art pieces (or segments of them) end up in game on Marathon assets and in Marathon marketing materials

people claiming to be Bungie artists/employees posted in earlier threads saying the stuff wasn't ever supposed to get in game, but some kind of mixup happened during the layoffs and the reference files got mixed in with 'ok to use in game, we made it ourselves' files

The stuff about 'Bungie stole the whole look of the game!' is just the usual internet hyperbole.

Hanlon's Razor, anon. It's incompetence and organizational dysfunction, two things nu-Bungie is infamous for. I agree that the higher ups deserve a lot of blame, but for different reasons.

Yes, and I laugh about it every time I do

“Bungie isn’t that kind of company”

it doesn't matter if its malice or incompetence, they are legally liable if this tard gets off their ass to swipe some money from them.

to be COMPLETELY clear, Sony would prefer Malice, as incompetence means they are not even remotely viable as an underling as they will do this again unknowingly, a malicious actor can at least "not" do it.

The biggest twist is that Activision were the good guys for once.

Yep, think about it the next time you reroll. A recent example of collapse would be the USSR, where things started to accelerate pretty fast once the situation got past the breaking point. It seems like things are accelerating right now. You can't fight reality for long, or society will stop working pretty fast. This is true for Bungie, for Ubi or anything else.

I'll be honest, I ain't re-rolling, my life has been one of lots of pain, physical and sexual child abuse from ole step-dad, ya know that old chestnut of having a bi-polar sociopath, nothing special, but devestating non the less, also rampant gamblers so they pissed away any savings, houses even cars they could have left me before death, just an overall net negative childhood for someone with a mild amount of above average/great potential.

then into the doldrums of working to pay bills and nothing else till now, nothing special (beyond the sheer extremity of the bad luck and I guess just how bonkers my abuser really was) but its left me completely and totally drained.

if Reincarnation is on the table after death, I'm just going to stay in heaven or roam the universe as a ghostly prescence or something, I always wanted to explore for the sake of it, maybe in death?

I'll be honest, I ain't re-rolling

Buddha spotted. Good for you.

but why is there a cum pond

I have entered the void.

The case for copyright infringement-based damages is tenuous at best, since you can't really argue that Marathon was profiting off of the artist's work. If Bungie had lifted the entire art style from one guy, sure, different case entirely. If this went to court, the likely outcome would be Bungie ordered to remove every instance of this infringement from the game (something they're doing now) and maybe pay some kind of small five-figure fine.

Sony

Sony just wants Bungie to make money, not cause PR shitstorms like this. I'm mostly interested in what Sony will do if/when Marathon flops, considering Destiny 2 isn't doing so hot either.

you can
you just are going to make a lot of people upset when you start whole sale firing management

xer coomed to death

Grim. But with that kind of karma you have a good chance to reincarnate as something comfy like a seagull or a carp, you shouldn't completely dismiss it.

Kotick always gets the last laugh.

Kotick rode his triple-golden parachute the fuck out after the MS sale closed. Sony should've just called him and said 'Hey, why didn't you aggressive pursue Bungie?' Would've saved em a few billion.
