I literally JUST got replaying the entire DoW series from DoW1 to DoW2: Retribution and they all still hold up remarkably well. The only thing I'd want for Dark Crusade is the ability to zoom farther, but I'm almost certain there's a mod for it if I bothered to look.

dawn of war is a 2004 game with a 2009 sequel, people born in 1997 and onwards have absolutely played it. Considering that a full 40k army is upwards of $2000 it was a lot of kids first experience engaging with the setting outside of books and shit, I now have a full Eldar army (not bought from GW lmao I got all my wraithlords for literally fifteen bucks secondhand) but for a long time I couldn't afford to play mainline 40k but did shit like WHFRP and Dark Heresy as TTRPGs and enjoyed Dawn of War

Try using Corax white thinned way down with Lamian medium. I used to have chunky shoulders on my templars, but after trying it, my whites come out pretty good. Also, I've had good luck with Vallejo white, but its too bright for my uses other than highlighting.

Old Lore stated the Necron Lord retained their personalities because of their loyalty so you can have these named Necron Lords and Overlords and maintain the old lore. DoW2 remastered feels like an obvious next step desu. I wonder if they intend to support this game further with expansions. Proper Nids and Admech in DoW1 would be great. I don't like Unification and UA in DoW1, I'd take proper expansions over mods here unironically. None that I tried were good enough in spite of how large and lively modding community there is for DoW1. DoWpro is ok tho.
DoW2 really needs more factions, basically second Dark Crusade with Tau and Necrons at least. But DoW2 Elitemod is so good, and will have Tau soon anyway, that I feel DoW2 remastered would functionally downgrade no matter what they do.

Most likely because the publisher wants some sort of reassurance that people are still willing to put down money for Dawn of War after the second game was divisive and the third crashed the series in a spectacular fireball almost a decade ago, and a cheap remaster is a good way to gauge interest.
