Why didn't you side with her, Anon Babble?
Why didn't you side with her, Anon Babble?
she a lesbo
Because I am not playing your slop, shillbot.
In the real world she isn't
There is not really any good ending.
The game shows us that the artist (child Verso), who is the origin of the work (Verso’s canvas), desires to bring it to an end.
It also shows us that Maelle refuses to listen to the very wish of the only part of Verso that remains in this world and even becomes physically aggressive toward child Verso to force him to continue painting.
So, the central question between Verso and Maelle is:
Do we consider that art belongs to the artist and that they have full authority over its existence, or do we believe that once art exists, it no longer fully belongs to them?
Should an artist be forced to continue a work even if it causes self decay? Should we allow others to decide the future of our creation?
EXTREMELY delusional and power drunk by the end.
You simply do not allow a 16 year old to play god.
Because I played this shit ass game for all of 15 minutes
Taking women seriously lol
I did. Fuck Verso. My only disappointment with the ending was that she let him age because he deserved to suffer forever.
How much are they paying you, Kumar?
I did but only because her ending isn't here yet.
Your thread is a flop, Ranjeet.
It is also a metaphor to The Crew's dilemma. Should devs (verso's child self) be forced to continue paying for the servers if one player (maelle) doesn't want to stop playing?
This entire game was made to make people debate about this. The Crew is a game made by ubisoft btw, and E33 devs are ex-ubisoft devs.
But I did side with her.
She's mentally ill and needs to face real life and stop being a neet.
You're both ignoring the fact that child Verso wasn't the only creative force inside the canvas and a lot of the world was made by others after him, before the game events take place.
Because she's a fucking idiot. Her (real) Dad makes a lot of sense and she needs to stop creating people just because her feelings are hurt and she can't cope with an inalienable fact of life (people die, you take it on board and move on stronger).
Gustave (who always knew what was best for her) would have tried to convince her but because he is a bit weak-willed when it comes to her he would have given in. The only way to make her see sense is the Verso option.
I quite liked her character until Act 3.
Answer the question, incelboy. Should Ubisoft keep "The Crew"'s server up and running or not?
WE WUZ HYLAINS AN SHIET
Shutting down the crew doesn't kill anyone.
Because she is a BBC whore. Typical French degenerate.
Tell that to the literal Anon Babble Anon Babble's anon that's suing Ubisoft right now.
What's more, you're not playing video games at all. Prove me wrong by posting titles of the 10 best games you've played in the last year. Otherwise, go back to discord/reddit/Anon Babble or wherever you came from.
And you're ignoring that Alicia is the entire reason this is all happening in the first place. All she had to do was not try to cozy up with the very Writers her family warned her about. And after she helped kill Verso with the Writers all she had to do was go to her mom and say, "I'm sorry, and I miss him too." But the narcissistic little bitch couldn't even do that.
you don't allow a 16 year old to play god.
Or women in general.
I could never not side with redhead female
The Dessendre familiy have been playing gods for their entire lives.
Killing their creations only makes things worse.
I did
Play xenogears
this made-up world is just as real as the real world!
if I chop my dick off, I become a woman!
what's the difference in maelletranny's line of reasoning?
Trying to beat Simon solo is really making me want to use my first color of lumina
Versofags are the ones supporting suicide.
she can't speak, only clea understands her chewbacca grunts.
The thing with Maelle is she got fucked over by Aline the first time she entered the canvas and was forced to live 16 years as a native. It makes sense she grows attached to it. Before that she was on Renoir's side.
To Maelle it's her home now, a much better home than the "real" one with a healthy body and a "alive" Verso.
Any anons wanna explain to me why white nevrons exist and who made them? Weren't the nevrons Clea's creation to prevent the chroma of Lumierians from going back to the paintress?
IIRC the first white nevron you meet says the paintress made him so he can bring light. I don't really understand that.
Also can an anon explain what caused the painted Dessendre family to break apart? Never really gets explained
It never felt like home to Maelle though.
it's almost like maelle/alicia was aline's puppet the entire time
If you found out we live in a simulation, would you want to die?
Clea did say she was gonna get painted over by her mother when she first entered cus she fucked up.
yeah, then she coincidentally lives a life which indoctrinates her into becoming unquestionably loyal to the painted world, including losing a loved one/a mirror to verso in that world
Part of her story is for her to realize that she was loved all along, that the people around her tried their best to provide her a place she could be loved but she was too immature to see that at the time.
Curious...
Aline didn't even know she was there. And she wanted her to leave as soon as she did.
When Verso is adamant to play the piano her face transforms into blue shit. Is she forcing him to play?
At the beginning of CH.3 during the flashback when Alicia enters the canvas, Clea tells her to take control and she fails, and she said because of that her mother is going to paint over her.
There's no way she didn't know.
It just how painters look while interacting with the painting. You see the same thing on Renoir's, Aline's, and Clea's faces.
You can hear a conversation between Renoir and Aline after Gustave dies and Painted Renoir pushes Maelle.
Renoir tells Maelle to stay and Aline tries to tell her to go home.
You're assuming the painting process is something she does consciously. Pic related is her realizing her daughter is in the Canvas in Act 1.
Why does your mind always loop around to trannies when no one's even talking about them? Are you in denial and going to become one yourself in a few years? Or are you just THAT obsessed? It's very sad to see.
Remember when Aline says, "I'm not crazy~!"
Well, she's crazy.
Yes and even before gustave dies, painted renoir and alicia show up at the camp and talk about how Maelle was just supposed to stay home. Alicia knew when she entered and repainted her nt omaelle so she could remain safely in Lumiere.
She's not talking about the canvas though. She's talking about bringing her along.
Bringing her along into the canvas. Obviously. To Aline "home" refers to their mansion in the real world not Lumiere.
Renoir even says "when this is over we will go home together". They are obviously referring to the canvas when they say "here" and to their real home in the outside world when they say "home".
Anon, you're making shit up. Rewatch the conversation if you can't remember the scene.
This is the most kino screenshot i've seen. I just wished the OP has used her canon hair for it.
Maybe my memory is bad then.
Aline is delusional and wants to live in the canvas with per painted family. Home means Lumiere, to her. Renoir is trying to drag Aline out specifically because he doesn't want her to consider the canvas home. To him, real home is home. Their fundamental differences are one of the biggest plot points of the game.
I think you're right, as evidenced by Maelle's first "nightmares" in camp.
most kino screenshot
Stand aside.
Aline is not as delusional as you want to portray. She literally talks about how Alicia is "too weak" for this. This only make sense in the context of being inside the canvas. Since we have seen no evidence that they can actually die by fighting.
Verso literally takes all of Gustave's shit off his dead body and walks into camp wearing his pictos
what the fuck is his problem
Home means Lumiere, to her.
is that why she's telling Renoir to go home later?
He's doing it for cause... It's different. It's different.
Talks about how Alicia is too weak as she, herself, is fading away.
She is very much in the grip of insanity. Having said that I just rewatched the scene and I think you're right, actually.
Because she's impulsive and delusional
Immediately after the Alicia flashback, they talk to real Renoir in the city and he also confirms that Alicia is already weakening and she can't stay too much longer in the painting.
fpbp
girl named Alicia
goes into a land full of wonders
Oh, I see...
demiurge does this to you
your response?
shid and fard and cum in my piano
correct there isnt really a good ending. which is not a bad thing. it makes it complex.
choosing maelle means choosing humanity. choosing verso means choosing the priority of the gods.
"Well, i only did what she told me to. Besides, Verso you have me now you dont need her" after erasing Painted Alicia
"You let Gustave die on purpose!? Yep i guess THAT happened. You are more important to me now so i forgive you. Want to paint something?" After find out the truth about Gustave's death.
"I know you are tired and want to rest but i cannot allow that. Verso You WILL stay with me and play piano for eternity."
Maelle is such a yandere imouto. I wont be surprised if she forces Verso to fuck her or do other kinky shits.
choosing maelle means choosing escapism
I don't know why maellefags keep pretending she gave a shit about the people of Lumiere. She literally only says one positive thing about them, and only after they die.
It's what I expect from her ending before she croaks.
Magically strapping verso to the bed abd fucking him in front of every single lumerian who is forced to watch and cheer.
Did anyone actually choose her ending for her or at least her alone? I didn't, it was all Lumiere.
Because i couldn't have sex with her
They did great to be honest. Put All niggers and faggots in the prologue, the only part that game sites reviewers play and then never show them again after prologue lol.
I don't know why maellefags keep pretending she gave a shit about the people of Lumiere
Her entire speech at the start of Act III pleading with her father is:
But I'm crippled
But this is all we have left from Verso
She not once argues the case for the lives of the people of the Canvas. They literally do not matter. They are ink.
So Lumiere won't last another decade in the painting
Good save.
Will my daughter actually fix the world?
The more time passes the more people on Tiktok start siding with Maelle.
At the start in the comments of every video about the ending where Versofags talking about letting go and now it's like
What the fuck man you can't destroy an entire world of living beings over a family drama.
No, Alicia killed her too.
She knew wasn't real and wanted to die anyway. The painted dessendres are the darkest among the fake, even Aline's masterpiece verso lacks critical memories.
She not once argues the case for the lives of the people of the Canvas. They literally do not matter. They are ink
And Verso doesn't care about anyone else, only himself. He's a hypocrite like Maelle. When he is defeated, he doesn't beg Maelle to run away from the painting and save herself, or plead to release child Verso's soul because he is "suffering", he is begging her to erase HIM.
His only words are about how HE doesn't want this life. Nothing about what's "right", or about Maelle/Alicia, it's all about himself being erased, and he's willing to take the world down with it.
Verso is a hypocrite liar who betrayed and got his sister to die from despair, he is responsible for the tragic endings as much as Maelle
Maellefags can't move on from a videogame
Checks out.
That world is doomed either way since it's just a canvas. You think after Alicia dies (and she will, very soon), the canvas who reminds the family of the loss of two children will be just abandoned in some basement?
I sided with gustave and lumiere, and the only one who lets that happen is alicia.
She's gonna need some help. A life to dream soon, I can feel it.
His only words are about how HE doesn't want this life
He actually asks her to make kid verso stop painting.
That's one more thought spared for any odt else than Alicia ever had.
Just STOP.
I haven't made this many threads about my favourite game of all time.
And I have been here since 2008.
He actually asks her to make kid verso stop painting
I'm talking about his last words after you fight as Maelle.
He doesn't actually care for soul Verso, he only wants the world erased so he dies with it.
Says who? Verso's ending is guaranteed to kill them all. Maelle's clearly isn't forever but perhaps enough to give them a happy life for a while.
Get BACK TO YOUR ROOM
I'm arguing with your father here.
And Verso doesn't care about anyone else, only himself
His entire dialogue in the end before the decision and duel is about Alicia and not himself. Play the game.
I'm talking about those
only you can do it
make him stop painting
Again, that's one more thought spared on Alicia and her state than she spared on the lumerians.
I played the game. He was lying, he always is. It's all a nice selfless moral smokescreen to hide his real goal.
When he thinks it's all over, he doesn't plead for Alicia or Verso's fragment, he begs for himself.
after Alicia dies
She won't. Her family isn't going to let her rot. It will be a Aline 2.0 situation, Clea and Renoir will have to do this over and over.
Again, that's one more thought spared on Alicia and her state than she spared on the lumerians.
And Alicia's "You can't decide this for everyone" is all the same. They're both selfish liars.
Dear Schizo troon,
Just leave—-we tire of you.
He says he doesn't want this life. This has many meanings. You can assume it just means he's tired of living because of tragedy he's experienced. This may also mean he doesn't want this life, the life of being a fake Verso used by his real mother and his real sister to refuse moving over grief and guilt. What makes Verso cross the portal is not the idea of living more in this world, it's the sight of his actual mother in pain, in real life, not just in the canvas.
As selfish as he is, it was also an act of selfishness.
but i did
You can't decide this for everyone"
That's during her fight, not her ending, don't up loving goalposts.
selflessness* not selfishness
Fuck off moralfag.
I'm not sure which is more kino
Last fight in the game is against the same person as the first fight in the game
or
Last fight in the game is playing as the person who was the first fight in the game
Maelle is for Gustave
LMAO LOONEYTROON SO FUCKING MAD
best part about the nogs in clair obscur is they all die within the first 10 minutes of the game
Why is Lune so much more popular than the other girls?
i'm a retard and missed why there is a countdown that removes everyone
i know the mom and dad are fighting over staying/leaving the canvas world and that clea made nevrons to help the dad but why is mom killing off everyone as well
She's not.
Renoir is the one causing the gommage but he can only do it to Aline's creations that are old. So she made a monolith to warn the people of Lumiere.
It's more that Renoir is trying to kill everyone and Aline is trying to protect everyone, but since Renoir is becoming increasingly powerful Aline has to prioritize saving the younger humans over the older ones, and each year she can save less and less.
The majority of Reddit picked Verso's ending so i am now a Maellefag
Stop loving evil women
R*dditors also breath, might as well stop now while you're at it
Aline in 30 years:
Yes, this makes sense. I'm saving the 3 year olds because I only have enough chroma, I must prioritize the important ones
Okay, hag, totally a great plan
Obviously the dumb bitch should have been prioritizing things like families and high performers, not "muh age" shit.
By the time she can only save teenagers Lumiere would already be pretty doomed
IRC the first white nevron you meet says the paintress made him so he can bring light. I don't really understand that.
He's confused, both groups assume the other is referring to the paintress. The nevron in Stony cliffs says that other expeditions described the "Mistress" to him, but that the description doesn't resemble his actual creator (Clea)
Also can an anon explain what caused the painted Dessendre family to break apart? Never really gets explained
It's an offshoot of the drama happening outside the painting, Renoir wants Aline out, Alicia is under Renoir's influence and Verso is tired of existence. Painted Clea was imprisoned, can't remember if it was by Aline or Clea herself, I think Clea to manipulate Simon into doing her bidding
wish for a golden ending
is denied it by V*rso
Gustave should've adopted her instead.
Why would I side with a whore?
alicia is haram
sciel is brown and ugly
lune is white and the least ugly
sophie is the best but barely gets screentime
Actually the only question is
Is slavery of men ok?
We know that you can and should enslave women, as it is morally right. But is it ok to enslave Verso?
The answer is no. Slavery of men is morally wrong.
Because she's retarded
I don't, the one I like can be harsh but fair
There is not really any good ending.
This is the point, but retards will still argue that there is.
my conclusion is that all women in this game are whores because they do not bear breasts large enough to feed our potential newborns
Wouldn't have made much of a difference, it was a losing battle anyway.
Gustave should've adopted her instead.
"Why did you bring her?"
"She wanted to come."
she was giving his brother a chance to see what he'd do, but he kept lying and betraying
then she placed her trust on her brother one last time, ignored again, and lost all hope
The game needs to win GOTY so we can see two Alicias Nier ending immediately. I do not give a shit what you think.
Verso isn't a man, he's a snivelling fraudulent traitor.
Not really?
In one we have enslavement and the other we have freedom.
So only one is morally right
The best ending would be just killing Maelle though.
Also can an anon explain what caused the painted Dessendre family to break apart?
Painted Verso had to kill his lover because she knew too much about the world. She and her expeditioner friends kidnapped and tortured Verso. This causes Painted Renoir to believe Julie is one of Clea's creations and thus helping Real Renoir in removing Aline from the canvas. Some unspecified time after this, Painted Verso starts to ressent his painted family. He still wanted to release Aline from the monolith, so maybe she could paint Julie back into life.
His status as a traitor doesn't effect his class hierarchy to women
>sophie is the best but barely gets screentime
Why did Gustave date someone who looked identical to his sister?
Alicia also enslaves Verso's soul, not the Painted Verso you have an irrational hatred towards. He wanted to stop painting. He makes it clear.
If you think about it, all the men in the real family are victims, but in the painted family it's the reverse.
Renoir: Victim. Painted Renoir: Abuser
Alicia: Abuser. Painted Alicia: Victim
Clea: Abuser. Painted Clea: Victim.
Verso: Victim. Painted Verso: Abuser.
Aline: Abuser. Painted Aline: ?
Kinda
Except that moment can't be abusers
It's morally right to hurt women
Verso getting put to rest and the family moving on seems pretty good to me.
Fuck I missed this, where is this told?
Gustave left all his shit for those who came after.
Verso came after.
Painted Verso starts to ressent his painted family. He still wanted to release Aline from the monolith, so maybe she could paint Julie back into life.
He didn't have to do his sister so dirty.
CEO-self-insert-kun, everyone lvoes him and the writing dickrides him.
It's the Verso journal entry.
Why is Painted Renoir an abuser but real Renoir isn't?
fuck the family. Lumiere matters more than that gaggle of sociopaths
Neither are
you are retarded
I had to make my narrative work okay, you'll see someone repost this on reddit for 2k updoots soon.
It is if you're not one of the people inside the painting. You are unplugging the simulation for all these fake people that wouldn't mind to keep living and have families.
Lumiere only exists through the enslaving of a dead boy's soul
TLD
Any anons wanna explain to me why white nevrons exist and who made them?
They are nevrons that Clea didn't paint properly. Clea is a perfectionist so she created one particular nevron to go and kill the white ones to erase them, you can meet him on a floating island and he explains the gist of it.
Kick the demiurges in the curb and out of the painting, and he'll be fine. It isn't like Painted Verso actually cares for him.
They aren't people to begin with. It's not like they're plugged in from somewhere else. They're completely fictional outside of child verso's soul.
because aline is an abuser and she painted him
Kick the demiurges in the curb and out of the painting, and he'll be fine
No he won't. He s still enslaved painting his eternity away.
The boy (Verso's soul) wants to stop. Painted Verso does not force him, he merely asks, the boy agrees and then Alicia pulls her weapon on them.
...
le plastic covid mask
she was always fucking insane
They're sentient, Renoir treats them as such and even validates their feelings, and he would know better than anyone else in the game. Calling them "fake" isn't even fair, they're just on a different plane of existence.
My GF calls me pah-pah now
First character in my gaming career I'd actually want to adopt
Renoir treats them as such and even validates their feelings
He mercilessly gommages people every year. He says Painted Verso's feelings are justified and immediatly tell him he's gonna erase him. That's not really treating them as real humans.
They aren't people to begin with
They have free will and fight back against the gods that created them, they were created through magic but they aren't mindless NPC's. The painters are guilty of genocide.
Child verso prefered music but he still liked painting. The conversations you can have with him after beating Clea and talking to the mother of sap imply he wouldn't mind carrying on with painting if his family would just stop fucking everything up and destroying themselves over it.
You and I could be fictional. Would you side with god and agree not existing at all is better if it was revealed we are in a simulation? It's like you said this isn't Inception. Pulling the plug means lights outs.
He mercilessly gommages people every year.
That's not really treating them as real humans.
The latter is untrue and it detracts from his character. He knows that what he is doing is cruel, he just has the conviction and strength of will to do it, because he believes it's necessary.
Shut the fuck up retard. People aren't disappearing and turning into paint around us.
He treats the entire thing as a regrettable act and difficult decision. He's not doing it flippantly like someone cleaning up their computer, but if you want to remove all emotional weight from his actions in your own mind, go ahead, but that is not consistent with how he acts in game.
The conversations you can have with him after beating Clea and talking to the mother of sap imply he wouldn't mind carrying on with painting if his family would just stop fucking everything up and destroying themselves over it.
Yeah, but his family won't stop fucking everything up and destroying themselves over living the canvas life, so his only solution is to stop. The ending comes after the optional content, and the very last scene Verso soul unequivocally wants to stop painting.
Notice how in the Verso ending, he offers the Verso Soul his hand and he willingly walks with Verso, but in the Maelle ending, it cuts to black and the boy is never shown again.
they're just on a different plane of existence.
It is a fake plane, however
What does that mean?
NTA but you're missing the point.
What you are arguing is that the existence of a higher state of being immediately invalidates all below it as having no value.
Flip the argument around, do you know if there exists a state of being above ours? If it is unknowable, is the value of our lives then unknowable? It's a poor philosophical foundation.
This is why the fate of the world was essentially sealed in the end of Act 2. Renoir won't budge, Alicia won't budge. Verso won't budge. The fate of everyone else are playthings in the hands of Greek gods full of character flaws and interpersonal drama.
If you ever wanted to route an alternate series of events, you'd have to diverge before that point.
are you fake if you were made by gods?
People aren't disappearing and turning into paint around us.
Neither did that happen for the people of Lumiere until one day it did.
No but I'll ask for fantasy and rpg mod packs
talk to soulVerso in Stone Wave Cliffs
he says he "knows us" and "seen us countless times yet never grasped our essence" because we "are not from here"
our essence is "familiar yet different" ... like everthing "she created" and "like the creature of darkness at the end of this path"
And then calls the enigmatic "her" as his sister, and obviously he's speaking about Clea, the creator of the "Dark Beast" (Lampmaster).
Huh, turns out the party really are all Clea's creations. Interesting.
You're arguing with people who made up their minds based on FFTA quotes and gigachad memes, m8.
yes.
I didn't see anyone pointing it out, but I liked the choice to show Palicia exclusively in black and white cutscenes at first, so when she shows up in an actual colored cinematic, it's striking to see her still in black and white.
They're all nameless sameface NPCs that have zero relevance and you never see again after the ten minute intro. The only black guy that actually goes with you dies a minute into the expedition.
Resetera was fucking boiling over it and it was fucking hysterical.
anon agrees with his own nonexistence to try to win an internet argument
If this game doesn't win GOTY, it truly is rigged.
He calls Verso "Aline's finest work". That's not aknowledging a person, that's talking to an artifact. A sentient, living, feeling artifact, but an artifact no less.
Renoir shows none of this remorse over erasing Lumiere as if they were real people. That is pure headcanon. The entire dialogue before the last boss fight is about the Canvas, Verso's soul, and what effect it will have on Alicia losing herself into it. Lune and Sciel talk some nonsense, he's like "cool, doesn't matter" and you fight.
Resetera was fucking boiling over it and it was fucking hysterical.
Are they? I read their Edge thread looking for a link to the E33 review and they were gargling its balls
kek
I did, im tired of these stupid lies of "suffering builds character" and "you gotta face the harshness of reality" when the very basis of civilization, from its inception to this very day, is all about building new ways to avoid both of those things; from artificial homes, modern medicine, laws of fairness, consistent sources of food, an even all the entertainment we now have.
This is the final stage of our evolution, a personalized reality that fits our very wishes with no adversity.
FUCK VERSO
FUCK MARCHE
FUCK ALL ANTI-ESCAPISM FAGS
you WILL suffer!
Every once in a while I get to have a good conversation that isn't interrupted by thought terminating memes, I'm chasing that feeling.
I want a sexy painter woman to rape me and dominate me in her canvas
sentient, living, feeling artifact, but an artifact no less.
Must be hard for him, considering what verso represents. No one thinks about Renoir in his family.
Go to bed Simon, Clea is not coming back
is the value of our lives then unknowable
As it is unknowable, it can exist.
For painted people, it's 100% certain that they have sentient creators who can erase and recreate them whenever they feel like it however they want.
Then he is overly apologetic to painted Verso and says he can only offer him oblivion. Oblivion being the loss of consciousness and sense of self, both of which would have to exist for oblivion to exist for any being.
Huh, turns out the party really are all Clea's creations
Nah Clea can only paint shitty ooga booga Nevrons
She looks like a Nevron
She can paint other stuff, she just thinks painting nevrons is fun, so she paints nevrons.
Expedition 101: Gustave and Painted Alicia are revived by Clea to take down Real Alicia, who's rapidly going mad with power with no one left in the canvas
would play
No one disputed painted people having consciousness or a sense of self. What is being argued is if Renoir shows any remorse towards erasing them, as he presumably would if he was killing real people, which he does not. None of the painters do.
Maybe they're all just sociopaths, but maybe it's simply because there's an ontological hierarchy and painted people are lower in it than habitants of the real world.
And he's not overly apologetic, he just apologizes for one line. Verso and Painted Alicia are the ones who suffer the most from what Aline did with the painted family, as they're aware of what they are and that their existance serves the delusions of their mother.
Verso journal directly mentions that the painted family thinks Julie is Clea's creation. She can paint people just fine, or at least the characters believe she can, even if we never see a normal person painted by her.
Clea painting ove Aline's humans
Would she stoop that low?
But seeing Simon form Gustave would be great unironically, give me more slopkino.
Despite a lot of her words, it's pretty obvious that Clea does love Alicia, so I think there's a chance that if she cmae back to find Renoir and Aline both ejected from the Canvas while Alicia was still in there fucking around, she might take matters into her own hands and come up with a way to force Alicia back out.
Because I am not playing your slop, shillbot.
t. a Writer
Clea tied up naked to a bed, as I Write slutty and humiliating sentences on her skin, which I thus manifest into reality.
It's not a bed, it's an ocean
There was a doujin with this plot I think.
he would've saved everyone
Hope only brings you suffering.
He didn't even have a passive on his weapons.
why did the writers firebomb Alicia?
Stupid teenager, easy way to wreck her family.
tfw no ending where Maelle is ripped from the painting but Monoco, Sciel and Lune break out and beat up all the painters and writers
They don't have physical bodies.
They can't even enter the core of the canvas without melting.
the gods of your world ending existence is good, actually
their patron saint is a whiny bitchboy
Versofags are cucks of the highest calibre
Was the writing team hating the rest of development teams supposed to be some kind of critique on the games industry?
They are just paint. They can't go out.
They'll get some outside help.
both writers and painters are no match for ... the khantent creators™
Your brother is dead, Maelle. Move on. Stop ODing on paint ink and go find a hushband.
Genuinely shocked by how many people defend the Maelle ending.
How the fuck can you defend that lmao
Spiting the demiurges, mainly. It isn't about Alicia, she deserves to suffer as well.
expedition 69 was the "climbing" expedition
French for climbing is escalade
escalade is French slang for "having sex with a very tall woman"
Why are the French so immature?
I don't think the dessendre's world is real.
I think all the painters are actually writers that got stuck in one their creations and other writers are trying to get them out.
I-it's her life
b-but she's a cripple
w-what about lumiere!
Only real argument is the third one and her ending shows it's just hollow.
Writing isn't real, retard.
It's Verso's world and he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it. Maellefags are the people who want to tell you how to live your life and also punish you for thinking about suicide.
painted Alicia and Gustave adventure in the Canvas battling leftover Nevrons to reach real Alicia
awkwardly throwing rocks together
helping him with his inventions
Teaches him painting
writing and reading each others journals
All the while she's smiling
She deserves the proper big brother experience after dealing with V*rso for a 100 years.
How can you defend Verso's?
t. P*inter
i need to hug and kiss her and then do a lot of unprotected hand holding. its stronger than me. also the same with real Alicia
Trust fund kid writes a story about the woes of a rich family, where the good ending is that the elite girl gets to live while the proles are destroyed to enable that
A bit on the nose, that.
Touched a nerve by suggesting the possibility your perception is limited?
How can you not?
after dealing with V*rso for a 100 years.
But he was a good brother to her before he left the family due to Aline's illness.
You can tell they got along well during the mansion scene.
Because weeaboos can't play games without hentai and Asian women (see: 33's sales in Japan) so they just watch porn all day instead. They will never play this game, just masturbate to it.
But he was a good brother to her before he left the family due to Aline's illness.
That did not end well...
The game's writing literally didn't want me to and went out of its way during her ending to drive home the point that I chose "wrong". Her ending felt absolutely hateful with the way it was framed.
Soul Verso and that clear BAD END narrative took all the ambiguity away in the last second, settled the argument, and took all the "choice" out of choosing the ending. Both didn't have good and bad points as far as the in-game writing was concerned, it was just black and white.
Alicia is extremely delusional
her ending is god complex overdrive
says she loves her brother but enslaves both versions of him
actively dooms the canvas by refusing to go out and not kill herself
People aren't really pro-Maelle, they're just anti-Verso. Look how butthurt they are about him. This is how you can tell that they're emotional and irrational like women.
Duh, he decides the real dessendres and Aline took priority over their fake family.
Aline wouldn't leave, ever, much like Alicia in her ending. But that's still like 50-60 years of a good sibling relationship.
Maelle = reddit
Gustave would side with Verso.
It's Verso's world
yes, REAL Verso's world, not the lying painted scumbag's
Verso's soul doesn't mind painting it as long as the rest of the family stop shitting it up and fighting each others inside it
NG+ after Verso's ending
can now see every single one of his lies, misleads, manipulations and withholdings of information
Nah, fuck Verso even more.
This is how you can tell that they're emotional and irrational like women.
Find a female that didn't choose Verso ending.
it all hinges on whether or not the people in the painting are 'real' or not, if they are then maelle's ending is unquestionably the best choice
For those that come after.
Just kidding lol painting lives don't matter lumiere was a mistake. "Die" for Maelle's hangups and Verso being tired
It's not so much anti-Verso as it is anti-Dessendre. The whole family is retarded and not at all equipped to handle the power they have.
painted Verso doesn't get a say because he isn't real
but all the other painted people are real and what they want matters more than anything
Once again Maellefags reveal their hypocrisy
Duh, he decides the real dessendres and Aline took priority over their fake family.
And he would be dumb for choosing the vile demiurges over this cinnamon roll who cared for him so much.
Verso didn't even give a shit about that, he just wanted to die, his final pleads before Alicia lobotomizes him isn't to save herself or save kid Verso, it's begging for him to be erased, only him. He doesn't want this life, nothing about how Alicia shouldn't also want it.
Women on ticktok love Maelle ending unironically
or so I've been told, I don't use that garbage
if they are then maelle's ending is unquestionably the best choice
copypasted npcs overdrive because she can't properly recreate them
not even their clothes
Lumiere is not fixed at all
canvas still has an expiration date the moment it looks like she's about to die
No, it's even worse, she doomed them AGAIN to live out a hollow fantasy.
Deserved. Verso was a fucking snake who lived so long he was not only tired of his life but everyone else's too. In another game, that sounds like a villain. In this one we just have to understand because these real people with hopes and fears do not matter as much as these other people because they were made wrong
This, sadly. If you want a "good" ending for Lumiere, you'd have to diverge in Act 2. Otherwise, a purgatory is all you can get.
Commiting suicide in a paralel dimension you hold complete control over as a Goddess is better than moving on from losing your brother and being with your real family that loves you
Not really.
Verso doesn't want to be a slave kept alive against his will for eternity
this makes him a bad guy
???
it's begging for him to be erased, only him.
He literally tells Alicia to stop kid verso from painting right before he starts begging for death. She literally sends some kind of shockwave at him as he tries to get close to kid verso.
Verso didn't even give a shit about that,
Literally ignoring the WHOLE reason he's hellbent on stopping the paintress.
That isn't true at all. Youre taking only his last, mortally wounded words instead of literally everything that comes before it, before the duel, etc.
Yes, and Alicia is inexcusable for dooming every being in that world to erasure because she refuses to take a break.
copypasted npcs overdrive because she can't properly recreate them
Is it implied that all the people that Maelle brings back at the end aren't exactly as they were prior to getting gommaged?
Kill 2 gods who can create untold amounts of life and trap a soul who wants to die for eternity
Or let a world that was already destroyed stay dead.
HRMMMMMMMMMM
If only the ending emphasized that even remotely instead of focusing on Verso and Alicia and how horrifying their fates must be. The painted people amount to nothing more than props
Why can't Alicia just be less of a cunt?
Youre taking only his last, mortally wounded words instead of literally everything that comes before it, before the duel, etc.
His last words are where his real motivations are shown. Before that it's moralizing, excuses, manipulation, all to frame the destruction of the world as a good thing, which would also take him with it.
All while watching his real mother and real sister commit suicide, and "his" real soul be enslaved to the canvas
why do I give a fuck about one girl with a burned-out face when an entire universe is (potentially) at stake
Every painting is real. The painters can make trillions of more people. Are their lives not worth living?
Verso was a fucking snake who lived so long he was not only tired of his life but everyone else's too. In another game, that sounds like a villain. In this one we just have to understand because these real people with hopes and fears do not matter as much as these other people because they were made wrong
It's a matter of framing. Verso is framed by the game extremely positively to invoke sympathy, so his straight up malicious actions are downplayed or absolved. I genuinely don't know if it's an intentional writing technique to add nuance, or if he was carried away with propping up his DMC OC.
it's ambiguous but yeah I agree that she made a shitty puppet world, but still, given it's ambiguous I would err on the side of caution before I commit mass genocide
Potential life is not counted in discussions like these, otherwise your ballsack would be more precious than a kindergarten.
why isn't anyone talking about this?
That universe is just ink and oil on a canvas, the dreams of a deceased boy and the heroin trip of a mother who can't get over his death
and every human egg on earth right now could be inseminated, what's your point
It is what it is. Thus works creation magic in this world.
Because the explanation is that the devs didn't want to waste money creating a bunch of high quality main character level models for characters who have 5 minutes of screen time total, so they changed the hair and outfit and hoped nobody would notice.
AGAIN to live out a hollow fantasy.
Sounds like they should have just given up before Expedition Zero. There is no hope, no point in struggling to fix or improve things, just accept the inevitable (but not you Alicia, things can get better for YOU!)
Anon Babble didn't side with Marche so why would they side with her?
The painters WILL paint. You wont ever fuck a girl to get her pregnant. Thats the difference.
okay, but are you sure about that? I'd need to be pretty certain before I pulled that trigger that collapses a reality that may or may not contain real living beings kek
But Verso is Marche.
People are sexually attracted to people who look and act like their parents.
Golden sequel soon.
Yes, pretty sure, everyone that exists in Lumiere exists because Aline wanted to populate her new home to live with her fake family, while punishing a simulacrum of the daughter she believes responsible for her son's demise.
There was no reason for his sister to have top quality model right?
Anyways it just threw me off completely and I kept thinking if it implied something that would later be explained.
Given all the other details and how these mattered it was a huge blunder from the studio, but I understand that sometimes deadlines don't work out so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
NOO VERSO DESERVES TO DIE HE IS SUFFERING
THATS WHY MAELLE THE STUPID BITCH SHOULD JUST ACCEPT SUFFERING EVERY DAY AS A FUCKING CRIPPLE IN A SHITTY FAMILY THAT HATES HER LMAOOO
Verso ending is a literal midwit choice.
isn't that Sciel's husband a bit similar to Verso? could that mean the painter is unskilled or is it something else
It's time to man up.
Sounds like they should have just given up before Expedition Zero. There is no hope, no point in struggling to fix or improve things, just accept the inevitable
Non-White? He looks nothing alike except that they're both White with dark hair and beards.
a 16 year old roastie might die, billions must gommage
c'est fini
I also thought Sciel was dead because her and Catherine look so similar, and I was confused by a few hours why no one was talking about her being alive when I saw her impaled
I will forever stand for those desperately fighting for their freedom against incomprehensible danger to their very existence.
Fuck Verso and fuck Alicia, eternal hell for both of them.
same guy as sciel saw in the flashback with the sirene
he looked like an arab here
Precisely. I really liked him and the story, warts and all, up until that point. But I just wish Lumiere hadn't become such an afterthought, and Verso hadn't been treated as the obvious and only correct choice for an ending. That's not a problem with the story itself its a problem with the way its framed. All the elements are there but I'm being told "that doesn't matter"
No because that would require the ending delve into their existence at all outside of them being props for Alicia and Verso's tragedy.
yeah ok, I agree. the same guy
I guess my Verso was using this hairstyle too much, I'm white I promise
IT'S NOT FAIR
she's messed up in the head by the time we get to pick the endings
I will not let go of Lumière, the only people who deserve dignity in their existence. It won't be robbed by a suicidal villain, not a psychotic teen demiurge.
Also I took all the gold from the Sierra Madre. Fuck you
and Verso hadn't been treated as the obvious and only correct choice for an ending
I would prefer it if Maelle's ending wasn't shown to be that creepy and sad. Perhaps by showing the people of Lumiere actually doing stuff on their own before showing that Maelle is directing her muppet show.
As for Lumiere generally being an afterthought, I think the tragedy of the painted people's fate being dictated by gods that don't even care about them was interesting in itself.
writers tease a compromise ending
never follow through
what the fuck did they mean by this
As for Lumiere generally being an afterthought, I think the tragedy of the painted people's fate being dictated by gods that don't even care about them was interesting in itself.
It's very Greek tragedy esque. Yay, there's catharsis for Alicia while everyone else fucking dies.
emotional moment when nobody gets resurrected[/spoiler
nah just gommage it all
Seriously what's the point of the entire game in Verso's ending?
SHE DESERVES TO BE HAPPY
Let her cook. She's already cooked as is.
I did it for her.
reminder that the maelle that truly loved gustave didn't exist after the total gommage of act II
Aline and Alicia stop living in their ideal false world and attempt to move on from Verso's death, as a family?
Compromise? 67 years I did in the monolith. I wanted to fuck a woman, I compromised, I jacked off to a sirene. I wanted omelette du fromage, I compromised, I ate grilled gestral off the canvas. You see where I'm going with this?
why didn't he show alicia/maelle the letter, there was no risk at that point and verso was still on board with completing the mission
How the fuck would the compromise even work? The woman moment is too powerful they cant control themselves
She saw the letter, it doesn't change anything
HE WAS A BRAVE LUMERIAN EXPEDITIONER IS WHAT HE WAS, AND IN THIS HOUSE VERSO IS A HERO, END OF SUBJECT
The white Nevrons are original Painted Clea leaking out.
if the residents of lumiere aren't real then why would renoir apologise to painted verso before he planned to annihilate them? seems like an odd thing to do to non-sentient beings
Because Painted Verso was given the real memories and essence of the real Verso, unlike other denizens of Lumiere who were painted just to be extras in Aline's Second Life game
Verso withholding the info was malicious. If it had happened earlier, it may have mattered
shadowfart VA
He opens the letter to read it himself mere moments before the mass gommage happens
Only if you played in english, In french however...
For starters, Lumierans achieving the agency over their own existence that they'd been struggling for since the first second we learned of the game's premise.
But how?! They're just data--er I mean, they're just ink!!!
They're capable of innovation, such as the Lumina converter. I'd have liked even the vaguest hint that maybe they could figure out a way to take control of their own lives and take the future in their own hands but, nope. Everyone saying they were doomed from the moment Aline painted them into existence is proven right, there was never any hope, these characters never mattered outside of Aline's despair, Alicia's angst, and Verso's sad little canvas gremlin
C'EST LA VIE
what a lazy faggot
Yeah, I meant to write Anon Babble sided with Marche, but then again who remembers those shitposts.
what does this look mean and why do women keep giving it to me?
real sister gives him a final shittest after watching him for a while
he fails
she kills herself
well done retard
He knew exactly what it was going to be about.
Everyone saying they were doomed from the moment Aline painted them into existence is proven right, there was never any hope, these characters never mattered outside of Aline's despair, Alicia's angst, and Verso's sad little canvas gremlin
This is why the story has been souring on me massively as I think about it over these weeks. There's nothing there outside muh themes.
I'll just headWRITE a less dogshit ending choice and move on with my life
I'll just headWRITE a less dogshit ending choice and move on with my life
True ending where Gustave solves all the problems
the only normal reaction to the entire verso ending, she got the only good ending by being true to herself
idk what the fuck sciel was doing (although that is true for her entire character)- let's do a little farewell embrace with the guy that just murdered me and my universe
If looks could kill. It's funny, I wasn't sold on Lune's hardass ride-or-die Expeditioner routine in the early game but at this moment, right at the end, I was on board with her 100%
Gustaf couldn't even save himself, how could he save anyone else?
Her if her hopes stay snuffed out, even if her brother and that tight piece of ginger ass he found to replace her continue to be retards, even if the devs aren't fans of Nier Automata after all and leave her thread cut in act 2, even if they win GOTY... At least she's the face of the OST.
Sciel was horny but second guessed herself showing affection like that in her las tmoments
it's just bad writing anon, idk why people here defend it so much
building up an entire universe and characters and then making them redundant in favour of the squabbles of some random family you only meet in the last portion of the game is just stupid
they could've told the exact same story with the exact same endings without compromising basic storytelling
He's being doing this for an hour.
building up an entire universe and characters and then making them redundant in favour of the squabbles of some random family you only meet in the last portion of the game is just stupid
I sure am glad I dropped AoT when it was "good"
I would like to unsubscribe from Asmongold updates.
But lol'd at chudführer being filtered by the strong independent woman.
Third option, take control of Lune and kick Alicia out of the painting and lobotomize Verso, take over the canvas and start working on an insane plan to transcend our reality.
The whole game becomes a secret prequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Cool World
this game isn't made for streaming because you're either going to watch someone get raped repeatedly while trying to learn enemy movesets or watch them grind
I care more about the squabbles of some random family than NPC #22 from Lumiere (created by random family to populate a make-believe world)
I understand Renoir wanting Alicia back but Cléa probably knows better considering Alicia's book is full of books and that she owns typewriters. Alicia is 100% going turncoat if she leaves.
that family you care so much about are make-believe too anon, the lumiereians being 'fake' doesn't magically change narrative structure
Gustave was a goofball and not above a bit of self depreciating humour, like him joking about being unable to woo girls, but calling him a pussy genuinely confuses me. The one time he tried to shoot himself he genuinely thought he was the sole survivor, and it's a greatly framed scene.
some random family than NPC #22 from Lumiere (created by random family to populate a make-believe world)
And for what purpose did God make you anon?
Maelle's mother gave her more love in 5 minutes than Alicia's shit family probably gave her her whole life.
it took me like 4 hours to beat golgra
With your peenus weenus?
They aren't. In the context of the story, there is a real world and one that characters themselves call "make-believe": the canvas worlds.
Or watch them workshop builds until they get the right combination of Luminas and abilities that lets them beat optional encounters and absolutely steamroll required story battles. Which can still be fun to watch on the side. Like watching a kid try to figure out the best way to arrange his blocks into a cool castle.
shooting himself because he was the sol survivor
That's exactly what I mean. He should've gotten fired up, angry, and even more committed to the mission to put an end to all this bullshit and make sure nobody else had to die like that.
and?
God created me to be like him, in his image.
I wasn't created by some random hag to fulfill the role of her crisped son and pretend nothing happened in a fantasy world she created half of.
it's funny how much of a bitch and an hypocrite pVerso is
dislikes painters for imposing their choices on painted people
wanted to do the same with pAlicia
wants to destroy the canvas and everythng inside it
acts like a bitch towards Maelicia when he sees pAlicia gets erased because "it's different"
Should i NG+? I'm kinda attached to my save but i wanna play again in french...
In the context of the story
There is opinions that characters hold, who can disagree with each other, and there is observable characteristics about life in the canvas. Both of those are "in context of the game"
They really needed a lore master for their worldbuilding and writing.
And if the fiction itself atributes one world as real and another as make-believe, one where consequences don't matter if you're a painter, then I'm inclined to care about the one where consequences exist, just like in the world I live in.
Didn't he just google meta builds off stream and pretend he thought of them himself?
When the crux of your narrative delves into the idea that the world you were introduced to is just the artistic creation of someone else, it then begs the question if the same doesn't apply to their "real" world being more of the same from your own perspective as the viewer
Same with you saying that he should be forced to suffer forever against his will and that it's okay because he isn't the real Verso.
Okay anon, the next time you are sitting in a mountain of mutilated corpses, don't take the easy way out.
God created me to be like him, in his image
How do you know that? What if he's having a mighty laugh clowning on humanity's ass? What if he's actually watching his Chosen People in the Andromeda Federation and we're just some ants?
He gave up
okay, so you're saying that the lumerians are a waste of time, so then why spend 2/3 of the game on them and their struggles if it's pointless?
who fucking cares
take it to an eceleb general
Finally some nice pubes
How do you know that?
He told me.
autism
i wanted to see him get his ass kicked by Simon
Sciel understood Verso's decision. She told him herself "if I could bring back my husband against your life, I'd do so in a heartbeat."
I don't watch Asmongold, but I did watch a much smaller streamer. And all evidence would suggest that no, he trial and errored his builds out himself and didn't even wind up with the optimal, simple and overpowered strats you'd find online. Else he probably wouldn't have struggled so much against Simon
So everyone is a hypocrite and just kills others for personal gain, we all know this. Both endings are hopeless variations on misery porn.
Because it's build up for the reality of the world and the drama between the Dessendre family members?
That's literally asking why not just start the game with a warning that you are in a canvas world and it's maintained by Verso's soul. Because the fun part is figuring it out, figuring out why, and seeing where the drama leads Alicia, Aline and Verso.
but it's not a build-up, it's a 180, the struggles of lumiere become essentially irrelevant
you don't 'figure it out', it's told to you as soon as act 2 wraps up
Life, uh, finds a way.
The struggles of Lumiere are essentially irrelevant, Lumiere itself was painted by Aline just to have a happy family she lost in real life. They are nothing more than props for her to have her version of a happy family back again.
This. If they want you to "let go" of every innocent and their half century of valiant fight for survival as some sort of hamfisted metaphor, while the perpetrators of the horror get to walk away, the writer has earned the Robespierre treatment.
If you remember in the last confrontation Renoir was talking about how he could see Aline dying in real time while he was trapped.
Verso is stuck living that life forever but Aline made him too well, so he can SEE what's happening to Maelle but is now powerless to do anything to stop it.
While also being unable to die because Maelle looked at what he hated (being fucking alive) through a childs eyes (maybe he just hates being young forever!)
The struggles of Lumiere are essentially irrelevant
And that's when the story takes a nosedive. It's unbalanced, clunky, and the writing feels spiteful. As if we are forced to mourn those we cared for as well, despite a mutually beneficial solution being easily attainable for a third of the game.
the way Sciel says "readyyyy"
mmmm delicious
They had to make The Reacher optional content because if it was mandatory everyone would've picked the Verso ending.
Sciel, the woman that tried to off herself but Verso's doll wouldn't let her. The woman who has an in battle quote that goes "If I die, then so be it"
THAT Sciel was okay with Verso killing her because he was bored with existing? I don't believe you.
How? It makes Verso appear as a massive hypocrite. Alicia ASKS to be killed and Maelle does it and he freaks the fuck out and then goes and decides to kill everyone without even asking their consent.
I came off that hating Verso more.
this is not the face of a stable person
she's so hot
why she had to be a slut wanting to cuck me with her dead hushband?
A woman looked wrong at me, millions must die.
Best comment I've read all Prairial.
wtf was clea thinking when she made mr stompy?
Verso's entire response is due to Maelle's response. And the entire fight is basically her begging to be allowed to stay in the painted world forever.
How many fucking years was she in the painting to develop Nasolabial folds on her true face like this? Would YOU let your sister fucking die in a fantasy land because she couldn't cope with your death?
PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP (but imagine this in rhythm)
coming up with this goofy fuck is probably the first time she smiled since Verso's death
Would YOU let your sister fucking die in a fantasy land because she couldn't cope with your death?
And your mother.
While you're forced to watch.
The Paintress is absurdly OP. I've been grinding for hours but she just stomps my ass every time no matter what
She understands his desire to end it.
Because she's a retard who thinks running away from her trauma means she's beating it... Oh my god she is literally one of those TikTok retards with 'decades of emotional trauma'
If my sister's life was pure torture? Yeah? It's basically assisted dying but better.
I fucking love The Reacher and what it represents.
youtube.com
Its existence is a proof of Renoir's love and hopes for Alicia/Maelle.
It's a representation of how hard she'll ride you
She can just paint another canvas for her to die in then. My mother can still learn to live with it, and my soul gets put to rest.
How many fucking years was she in the painting to develop Nasolabial folds on her true face like this? Would YOU let your sister fucking die in a fantasy land because she couldn't cope with your death?
How many years did she experience from her own point of view, and did she have a good time?
If she got to live 100 years inside of a simulation so advanced that it's host to people with lives and personalities that can't be discerned from what you'd find outside of it, while talking and going on adventures and making friends there, as opposed to 50 years as a mute cripple with a dysfunctional family she never really got along with. I would say good for her.
but outside of that simulation she wasted away over a period of days or weeks
That sounds like someone else's problem, not hers. She should do what's best for herself, not necessarily what YOU say is best for her. Alicia's life belongs to Alicia.
you wouldn't say that if it was your loved one
I'd do what's best for me. If that means ruining her good time. I'm a hypocrite, as are we all, but I can acknowledge that much at least.
You're not taking away her ability to live countless lives in countless worlds. You're keeping her from killing herself in one.
If we're going from the angle of the weight of a tortured soul. Verso (real) is in this painting. And he's fucking TIRED. Meanwhile Painted Verso was painted too fucking well so he has to deal with the existential crisis that is his mere existence causing everybody he loves to try and kill themselves to be with him.
I love that song. My favorite in the entire OST.
It's so good, and for a single random mob in an optional zone.
Absolute kino. Would pay more $40 for this.
Let's see little bro and his friends get past this creation!
I'd play a whole game that's just young Clea and baby Verso just playing with sketches in a painting world like French Scribblenauts meets Chalk Zone
If she got to live 100 years inside of a simulation so advanced that it's host to people with lives and personalities that can't be discerned from what you'd find outside of it
We don't really know how that works. But given how 'relatively' young Renoir and Aline are in the portrait you can put in the manor and how... frankly decript Aline ends up being after her second visit, we can probably assume the cons are pretty severe. By the time you get to Aline she's only partially lucid. Everybody in the painted family knows who Maelle is, but Aline couldn't see it.
And given the fact that Maelle is crying in the ending in which she gets what she wants, she's not exactly happy in that ending as well.
dating sim with Maelle when?
I beat her first try, are you playing on expert/hard mode or something?
I guess the Doom spell was spooky but if you have a setup that builds AP fast it is doable to out-race it
She should do what's best for herself
Rotting away in a false world is not what's best for her, even if she may believe it is.
We do not know what's in our best interest every time. We can be wrong. Alicia is wrong. Aline is wrong.
Do you know whats in someone else's best interest more than they do though?
Sometimes we do, yeah.
Sometimes, sure, but we don't know always. Maybe her living outside the painting would be better for her or maybe it actually wouldn't. Even the endings, skewed as they are, don't give you enough long term information
Has science gone too far?
Rotting away in a false world is not what's best for her
If there was a normal life waiting for her outside then I would agree. But she's crippled for life so that ain't what she's missing.
This is what's wrong with zoomers. They don't care about the truth, they only want everything to feel good no matter what. Get off of this fucking website until you're 18, and probably not even then. Bitch.
getting mad this easily
lol, you're the one who should probably get off this site, you clearly can't handle it
She can paint another canvas to experience a life without suffering if her physical disability is that bad. It doesn't even need to be this one.
The one thing this canvas has that no other canvas can have is Verso's soul.
But she grew up in Lumiere
She can experience birthing and forgeting her Alicia life and torment again in another canvas. She can forget her Maelle life too, if it's just about avoiding pain and waisting away in happy dreams while her brain ODs on ink heroin.
Is Verso pregnant?
Sometimes, sure, but we don't know always.
I mean, when people are abusing substances and living in a fictional world, that's a pretty good indication they don't know what's best for themselves anymore...
Remember what Verso says in that ending? "You don't have to suffer a life you don't want."
It's not that different from the lines you here in the journal (i'm assuming which were spoken to young Verso)
She can live incredible lives in incredible worlds. But what she's doing is a direct result of grief. Do YOU think she should never confront her own grief?
What about the constantly mentioned sliver of Verso's soul. That kid is suffering a fate worse than death. Forever. Does he not matter?
Beautiful
Shutup Renoir
Then what's the point of leaving this one that has all the people she cares about if she's just gonna go into another one?
What's the point of leaving this one
Letting her loved brother's soul rest.
It can rest when she dies.
Verso didn't ask for this.
That thing represented Clea.
Her brother was a two-faced backstabbing asshole though. Self sacrificing though he was. Maybe he should sacrifice himself a little while longer
Once again we see that Maellefags are selfish psychopaths.
NOOOO! HOW DARE YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT? YOU SHOULD ONLY CARE ABOUT WHAT I WANT!!!
This goes both ways.
GOTY GOTY GOTY
literally the only discussion of this game is the ending
Why is Verso thinking about his Onee-chan like this?
he's not talking about painted Verso.
he's talking about the ghost kid.
The one who wants to stop but can't stop. Who wants to destroy the painting but no longer has the power to do so. The last fragment of real Verso who, much like painted Verso, that wants to die and finally be at rest.
Given that souls are apparently tangible things in this games universe, that's one fucked up afterlife for Verso. All because your family can't move on.
Forcing his soul to watch you kill yourself
That's needlessly cruel.
Even if you hate Painted Verso, and he seems to be pretty much like an exact copy of real Verso, real Verso never backstabbed anyone. He died protecting his little sister. Let his soul rest without having to watch his sister and mother suicide.
He said Verso's soul, not Painted Verso. That sliver of Verso's soul is the last remnant of the man who traded his life for Alicia's in the fire, even though she'd gotten them in that situation in the first place. That remnant of his soul has to sit and watch as the rest of the family tears itself apart over the canvas, so I think his say that he's tired of painting weighs higher than everyone else being sad.
needlessly
no
real Renoir is a real man, Painted Renoir is renoir from the PoV of his wife
Yes, needlessly. He literally never did anything to hurt anyone.
The need is not his. It's of Alicia and everyone else who was painted in that canvas.
How many of the souls trapped like Verso would choose to keep living in a false reality if they knew the truth? Very few.
he's not talking about painted Verso.
Neither am I
Very few.
Most people are not suicidal.
Gustave still chooses to save Maelle at the end
Absolute cinema
Alicia wasn't passively painted in the canvas, she willingly entered it to participate in the feud between Renoir and Aline and lost herself.
That little boy still did nothing wrong. There is no right to torment him.
Doing one thing forever, that being the maintaining of a painted world and watching your loved ones die, would probably wear down most people I'd wager.
Why doesn't Verso just beat the shit out of Maelle instead of playing the paino and crying like a bitch
Eventually probably. But there's no way the world will last forever and most people would rather live out what time they have.
Fake Verso is the one to free his owl real soul from endless torment
kino
He does, as long as you pick the right option.
It's not a matter of right, it's a matter of need.
Either way someone's rights get infringed, either the Boy or the painted people. You're saying his plight outweighs theirs but that is not self-evident.
Except Maelle lol
His plight outweights theirs because he's the one thing that even holds this world together.
Why does that matter? Does the plight of the deer outweigh the hunger of the wolf?
There's no justification for any choice other than preference.
A person being tormented for eternity because he wanted to play in an adventure world while he was a kid hardly compares to the cycle of prey and predator in nature.
real verso never backstabbed anyone
You sure about that? Real Verso is the inspiration for Visage. pVerso is a liar because Real Verso was a liar
She was clearly too captivated with the power of playing God in basically what is The Sims.
Renoir was objectively 100% right
If you want to call someone a backstabber it's Alicia. She trusted wr*ters over her family.
It really sucks how Maelle turns out to be a lesbian. Shameless ripoff of The Last of Us.
she is a woman
that's it
She wants my baguette, she's no lesbo
how the fuck y'all not get tired of discussing the same shit
i personally lost my temper with the repeating topics a single day after beating the game and here's y'all repeating y'allselves like a broken record. just shut the fuck up incels.
y'all
go back
This. I hate all the "my choice is the morally correct one" fags. It literally doesn't matter.
ever thought that it's not the same people, fagboy?
Verso is the main character.
Consider this: By the time Verso and Alicia fight over the painting, the people of Lumiere were all vanished, except for Sciel and Lune whom Alicia resurrected on a whim. Why is "the people of Lumiere are real" even an argument? They're all dead at that point. The real question is whether they should be brought back.
Should they? So Alicia gets to play god now. In her ending she brings back the people of Lumiere, who shouldn't be there anymore. She even brought back Sciel's husband, an idiot who didn't even die in an expedition but in an accident. That means nobody can die now and they all live by the whim of some unstable teenage goddess who's going to die soon anyway, if Renoir doesn't decide to burn the painting when his daughter croaks.
The Verso ending is better imply because it cuts through the bullshit and gives Alicia an actual chance to do something useful with her life. Fuck Lumiere. They're doomed in all scenarios anyway. Furthermore, they're Aline's self-insert starter town and not even canon in Kid Verso's setting.
Other people cannot decide that for her. You don't get to define what another person's happiness is, even in this current retarded clown world we live in where people don't recognize facts as objective nor opinions/feelings as subjective
they don't care about truth
You might as well be calling yourself a zoomer if you honestly believe that YOU get to decide what another person's happiness is. For example, you probably think I should agree with you, but the truth is I think you sound like a raging dipshit with his head firmly up his own ass
if you honestly believe that YOU get to decide what another person's happiness is
t.
Is that image supposed to be some sort of gotcha? It lacks context and tries to make points through cheap shock value. It just shows me how you think of other people's lives and feelings in retarded bullshit extremes with zero nuance. Meaning you're possibly the last person who should ever weigh in on anyone else's idea of what makes them happy.
if it feels good then it must be right
lol
lmao
others' happiness is only what I define it as
What a sad way to live.
If only we could be as happy as drug addicts, together.
it was real in my mind so it's real
cuts through the bullshit and gives Alicia an actual chance to do something useful with her life
Literal slave mentality. What if she doesn't want to be "useful" to you?
Yes your retarded extremist example as very clever if you've nothing else to add then accept this (You) as payment for your brilliant insight into the human condition
Lumiere is very real, yes. Or are you talking about the concept of happiness in someone else's mind? Because that is also real, and definable only by the person experiencing it. Not you.
Based. Fuck Lumiere. The only town we mourn the loss of is Gestral Village, as in the original canon Verso painting.
insisting that nothing is real and feelings are the only thing that matters
saying other people have slave mentality
LOOOOL
She's a brocon.
Other people cannot decide that for her
Yes, not only they can but they should. Druggies get sent to rehabilitation against their will and it more often than not turns their lives around, against their own voluntary will.
I inside with her
Maellefag coping. Verso ending is the good ending. Lune got poofed into flowers. Grieve for her (in a healthy way)
Exactly, you can even see that she is clearly "happier" in verso's ending. Real smile vs fake smile in her own ending
Based Child Verso universe lore purists.
I never said nothing is real. I said that you/Renoir/whomever do not get to be the final word on what's best for another person, or define their notion of happiness. Your stupid little condescending comic demonstrates to me that you feel the opposite and I find that honestly really pathetic.
I'm beginning to think from the way you respond that you might be legitimately underage though, so there's also that.
This. Aline fucked up the entire canvas. What she painted is cursed and shouldn't be there.
you/Renoir/whomever do not get to be the final word on what's best for another person, or define their notion of happines
What if they've proven themselves incapable of doing it by themselves, like when you stop a drunk from killing themselves with booze
Your post implies that "whatever is best for a person" is "whatever she feels is best for her", yet you appeal to a sense of maturity that is completly lacking in that line of reasoning.
No, whatever you feel like is best for you is not what is best for you. It may be best for you, but may also not be. There are things that are proper things for a good life, even if you're not just feeling it at a certain moment.
Your entire philosophical concept is based off vibes and feels.
In the end it's up to the drunk to decide the way they WANT to live their lives. You can try to support them with advice or try to mitigate the damage but if you can't convince them to agree with you, you cannot force them to be happy with being sober. That's not how that works.
Maybe the drunk needs a firm hand. Maybe Alicia needed someone to snap her out of it and she is happier. Those are possibilities but they are not absolutes. The ending of this game would have you believe that they are though, and I disagree with its heavy handed verdict too.
Back to where I began with this: If Alicia gets to live a long life in painting-time and a short life in real-time, my only question would be: Where did she find the most personal fulfillment. Where did she find more occasions to laugh or smile or have nice relationships or spend her time doing something SHE believed in?
You would rather focus on Renoir and the others spending a week watching her wither away. But that's not where Alicia's mind would be. Alicia should be where SHE wants to be, whether it's learning to function and trying to get along with her (frankly quite shitty) family or in a simulation with people we know for a fact have their own lives that go through the same motions as people outside
Your entire philosophical concept is based off vibes and feels.
In the end it's all we have. Your sense of maturity is, what? Performing for other people? Achieving some historical feat? What if someone doesn't like that, what if that feels meaningless to them personally? Just do it anyway because "you're supposed to"? Sounds like bullshit to me.
What makes you think you get to decide what an objectively "good" life is for everyone else?
people we know for a fact have their own lives that go through the same motions as people outside
Not in maelle's ending they dont lol
What makes you think you get to decide what an objectively "good" life is for everyone else?
You're literally doing the same thing, retard.
By asking which situation between the two Alicia might find more fulfilment in? You lost me.
You're arguing for one option being better. It's all subjective.
Where did she find the most personal fulfillment. Where did she find more occasions to laugh or smile or have nice relationships or spend her time doing something SHE believed in?
Whose to say she won't find this in the real world?
Your sense of maturity is, what?
My sense of maturity is realizing that there are things we are incapable of thinking for ourselves, and that we rather need the opinion and wisdom of others that came before us to show us the way.
There is such thing as a good human life, and it's not subjective. It's not about feeling good. Sometimes it even feels bad to lead yourself into a good life. We all constantly fail in living up to it. But if we don't even have it as a target to aim at, then we're stumbling blindly through life and may only reach it through sheer luck.
If there was a normal life waiting for her outside
...there is, how can you subhumans not realize she's a fucking paintress
she doesn't have to be crippled for life.
In the end it's up to the drunk to decide the way they WANT to live their lives
Right. So if a person is depressed and suicidal, you just say "ok man have it your way, if that's what you want" instead of trying to help them even if they don't want to be helped (even though they'll likely appreciate it later and be glad you did)
lmao dude you're fucked
I think we're having a fundamental misunderstanding.
To be clear: I am merely arguing that Alicia should do what makes her happy. If the more difficult path of living her cripple life and getting along with her family is ultimately what she wants, then, as I said, good for her. On the other hand if she'd rather live with the Lumierans for (from her own perspective) decades going on adventures and making friends there, then good for her. I'm not going to dismiss this option because the "real world" is more important, or because Verso and the canvas are being a whiny bitch.
This anon asked if I'd let my cripple sister live in a happy cartoon land until she died irl to cope, and my answer is simply: If that's really what she wants. I'm not deciding shit, I'm entertaining the possibility that Alicia can make a valid decision (more than the game's ending is willing to do for her)
Holy shit. Can Maellefags even be considered humans at this point?
Right. So if a person is depressed and suicidal, you just say "ok man have it your way, if that's what you want
Yes but not if it's Verso. Go play that piano.
If you want a serious answer: Why did you ignore the part where I said you can try to help people but ultimately they have to want help? It's a tired platitude, but that doesn't make it not true.
If you listen to a single word, listen to this: You cannot define someone else's happiness only they can, whether you think that's fair or not, whether you think it makes sense or not, ultimately it's not up to you. Period.
kek
Maellefags are femoid brained
assuming entire future of what happens after any of the endings
You only say what you want to see. Your arguments are pointless.
MIND = BLOWN
You really aren't listening to a single word are you? Oh well. You can't say I didn't try to talk to you. Believe what you want.
I'm fucking your ass
You must be microscopic because I don't feel a thing.
You believe Alicia is "happy" in her ending based on things that weren't even shown. Stay delusional and accept that you can't assert any of the options as happy.
I speak in terms of what's possible, but you can only process the world in absolutes, even in fiction. Is this that apple brain meme in action?
Your possibilities deny anything that doesn't fit a "happy" narrative. There is no absolutes that's the point, you can't prove it's happy or not.
Your possibilities deny
Possibilities don't deny anything by definition. Try that again.
what if Alicia ISN'T happy?
That would be bad for Alicia. Simple, no? But that sword cuts both ways. You're the one refusing to see that.
You only want "happy" possibility in Maelle's ending. That makes you narrow minded. I'm simply pointing it out for you, retard.
You only want "happy" possibility in Maelle's ending.
I never once stated that. The only reason I'm focusing on the Maelle ending is because I think it was done dirty. The game itself weighs in and is abundantly clear on what it deems correct. I personally find it to be rather pretentious, but whatever. I never said Alicia could not be happy in the real world, maybe she'll find greater joy there than she could have in Lumiere, but then again, maybe not. The point is that Lumiere could be a valid choice for her, she could live a long happy life there in spite of cutting her life short elsewhere. But from her own perspective, it COULD be fulfilling.
There's a conversation that Alicia has with Clea at the Endless Tower. She actually puts it quite well there. This is before the game delivers its verdict with the endings, but I honestly wish it had ended on a note like that instead.
But it didn't, and that's fine. Won't stop me from thinking like it does some people
I'm in your ass
So you're just upset the writers didn't include an ending you like and you have to keep arguing about what ifs because you're obsessed with it. Ok have fun.
Get out of the world inside my ass! You have to return home, anon!
So you're just upset the writers
Fuck wr*ters
didn't include an ending you like
Not so much that, as the possibility still exists in those endings, but the way its framed is supposed to make the audience feel like they made the wrong choice anyway
and you have to keep arguing about what ifs because
Because thinking creatively is fun, and because regardless of my impression on the ending, I spent most of my time here arguing the simple concept of self determination with a bunch of nanny state ass narc faggots who don't understand personal liberty and think that there's an objectively correct way to live that can be forced upon people if they stray out of the bounds of their right-think
you're obsessed with it. Ok have fun.
I honestly am or I wouldn't be here. Think about that.
The point is that Lumiere could be a valid choice for her, she could live a long happy life there in spite of cutting her life short elsewhere. But from her own perspective, it COULD be fulfilling.
It could. But if Palicia's perception of things can be projected into Maelle/Alicia, since they are so similar (and Palicia is based on what Aline considers Alicia's essence), then the mere fact that Alicia now knows that her real brother is dead, that her real mother is lost in grief outside the painting and blames her, that her real father is desperate to pull them out, and that her sister is a cunt, the knowledge of these things already ruins the previous perception she had, when she was just Maelle, the weird kid from Lumiere fighting to avenge her older brother.
Even if all we consider is her happiness, could she be truly happy turning a blind eye to these things she know are true and are happening outside of the canvas? To people she loves?
She's only happy as much as she's able to numb herself to that reality.
I chose Verso's ending because it would make Verso and Renoir happy.
Again I feel that can go both ways. Everything you said could also color her feelings about leaving Lumiere to live amongst that hot mess, for better or worse. Have you ever had a problem you felt better off just not dealing with? Certainly before being forced out, Alicia didn't seem keen on the idea, so I don't see why that knowledge would then stop her from finding personal satisfaction in the world of Lumiere and making friends there as opposed to, possibly, reinforcing those feelings.
Also I sort of resent the idea what we need to put the world outside of Lumiere's world on a more important pedestal considering how things work there. We can say it's just fake or whatever but from what we experience prior to act 2 and all the logs we read, it's full of people that share the same full range of emotions and desires and flaws as those outside of it. So if staying in Lumiere is "numbing herself to the real world" I say abandoning Lumiere and the people there is also numbing herself in a way to that life.
Hey, ass anon, we're on page 10, I'm rooting for you to get the last post just so you know.
Again I feel that can go both ways. Everything you said could also color her feelings about leaving Lumiere to live amongst that hot mess, for better or worse
I really don't think it goes both ways, because the canvas world ceases to be once the painters and Verso's souls are out, but the reverse is not true. Notice that in the Verso ending, her friends from Lumiere are a happy memory, they're not torment. But from what we can inffer from Palicia, the knowledge of another reality, of a real dead brother, of a mother who so strongly resents her, these things torment her. I bet they would torment Alicia as much as it does Palicia if she just played pretend to have a happy family. She's cursed by this knowledge. There's no going back.
Also I sort of resent the idea what we need to put the world outside of Lumiere's world on a more important pedestal considering how things work there. We can say it's just fake or whatever but from what we experience prior to act 2 and all the logs we read, it's full of people that share the same full range of emotions and desires and flaws as those outside of it
They might appear to, and the game does say they're real too, but they are a subordinate existance. There is a world without painters as far as the outside world goes, but the inside world is the play thing of the painters. Quite literally. It's impossible to know this and take it as just as real as the other one. There is no begging Maman to repaint the kitty or friend that died in the real world.
her friends from Lumiere are a happy memory, they're not torment.
It'd be really funny if she remembered Lune as wanting to kill her stupid family and save her people but alas
I get what you're saying but I still can't think of it as cut and dry as the game's endings would like me to. To me, betraying the people we were fighting to save at the beginning still matters even if the ending tells me it does not. And to me, the idea that Alicia could have found some personal fulfillment and peace inside that canvas is still valid, even if the ending flashes dour and depressing imagery at me for picking that option. I guess you might say that while they tried to shoo me away from it they didn't slam that door hard enough.
but they are a subordinate existance.
Ooh I really don't like that line of thinking at all. But yes I can see why you and many others feel that way. Just because they were born as Aline's mistake, just because their world teeters on the brink of destruction hinging on if their hidden painting soul God is in a bad mood, does not mean I'll treat those people like they were nothing.
Makes Clea and Aline happy too.
Aline was very clearly killing herself.
Maelle will kill herself
Alicia, Verso, and Verso would lose.
Bump
