She is taking the route of literally every big name project director/lead producer/creative director. Games that spend more than half their development time in the pitch/pre-production phase and get cancelled before even being announced are the vast majority in the industry. There is an insane number of titles that are in some form of production phase right now and 90% never make it beyond the concept phase.
Either that game was in a horrific state that she rescued it into something playable or Netflix flat out sucks at identifying game dev talent. I'm not some rabid anti-woke chud either, Avowed is simply boring and unremarkable.

I really... REALLY wanted to love pillars 1, I was hugely anticipating it because I loved baldurs gate 1 and 2.
But Pillars kinda sucked, the art direction was horrendous, too furrylike.
Wish it was more traditional it would have helped a little, but the game itself wasnt fantastic outside of the terrible art direction either, so I'd say it was mid at best.
Pillars 2 was a bad game.
