I'm on the fence about voice acting and the edgy tone but its trying something combining metroidvania elements with the pacman formula, it might be fun i dunno
I loved pacman ce1 and 2 and hearing those same sfx in here brought a smile to my face
not leveraging the pacman brand name is certainly a marketing choice

I mean it sort of makes sense if you think about it, metroidvanias are basically about navigating a maze. Pacman's about navigating mazes.
But I'm not really sure if they could make a new metroidvania without ass gameplay these days.

Funny you mention that, just the other day I was playing the PS1 frogger also it got an apple arcade game 3 years ago that croaked. (Because Konami forgot to advertise their games, again)
I got it and thought it was pretty alright haven't replayed it or the PS1 version recently yet so I wouldn't be able to give you a straight up verdict right now, but I don't remember it being so atrociously bad that I would recommend avoiding it entirely.

Its most likely a shot at a brand new IP but they are using pac man as free advertising an excuse for a celebration game, if it does well there might be a sequel where they try to reduce the pac man prescense.

I've had some success with Parsec, but in general it's a pretty loose bandaid compared to even the grungiest of delay-based lockstep netcodes. Ultimately I'm not hurting too much because one can always just play Pac-Man Arrangement via emulation netplay and it's arguably the most fun multiplayer Pac-Man ever made, but nevertheless

Agreed. It doesn't really stack up the way it should in both selection and presentation. Even if you make concessions for things that obviously got cut due to wanting to sell standalone releases or the attempt to keep Ms. Pac-Man's value low to stick it to AtGames, there's so much left off the table.

At the very least it has the Jukebox, even if I'd prefer full soundtracks for the games.

if they wanted "pac man metroidvania" they could have easily just used his classic cartoon look and give him pacland abilities or a lazer gun as well as turning into 2d pacman for morph ball analogue and other abilities and it would have worked fine,

The difference is the pac man one looks like it will be a good game. Act zero would have been shit even if it used regular bomberman designs, it had much deeper problems then MUH EDGY REBOOT.
