I started playing Rogue Trader recently and I'm so fucking pissed off. Not only did they take away the voice acting after the tutorial, suddenly every single conversation is three times longer and wordier, I don't mind reading but it's so much fluff compared to the previous dialogue.

The game itself falls apart during and definitely post Act 3 though, so I'd say that's a larger issue with the game itself rather than just Argenta, though she did get hit hard with the grand finale of her companion quest which was obviously supposed to be a dungeon being cut so completely you don't even get a book segment out of it. Hopefully Owlcat has FINALLY learned from their mistakes in their past three games and this will be a much tighter game, what with them saying they've shortened the length of the game, so maybe for once the end game of their product won't be absolute trash.

It doesn't really make them better when you have limited points to spend on combat actions and the Psyker abilities or your class abilities become superfluous as a result. Having Crime Lords Sure-Fire Plan to buff attacks, for example, is far more valuable to several builds than anything Psyker offers.

Considering that one of the main combat mechanics they're advertising involves creating builds that force your enemies to surrender or flee in terror, it seems 100% confirmed there will be a Night Lords CSM companion, since that is exactly their entire shtick.

I always cheat to combine origins to have a better backstory, like my main build which is Crimelord Psyker Voidborn (he was born on a space station, eventually ruled it through his crime syndicate, then his psychic abilities appeared and he was betrayed by his people and taken away by the Inquisition). To balance it out I don't make him a sanctioned psyker but give him the unsanctioned abilities at the start.

It'll probably be based on them like RT was based on the TTRPG rules too.

So much of it would have to be written in. Its doable but there's very little in the Dune universe to actually go off of. Dune is almost entirely focused on its own characters with most of the wider setting basically just hinted at or glimpsed occasionally when it becomes relevant. There are two ways to play WotR: set the game on Story mode and casually right click your way to victory, or option two; set the game on Core or higher, buff your party before every fight (hopefully using the mod to save yourself some of the tedium), and casually right click your way to victory.

Pathfinder: WotR is a character builder. That's it, that's the entire appeal of the game. The companions are lackluster and nonsensical, the setting even moreso, the campaign just a power fantasy that actively hands the retard ball to everyone around your protagonist to make your PC feel "special", and the combat might as well be a cookie clicker for your buff spells, followed by an autobattler with how non existent any tactics or strategy are in the game.

The ENTIRE reason people like this game is because they find it enjoyable to build a powerful character, get the math optimized correctly, and watch their little creation utterly demolish everything in its path. Radical Inquisitors regularly have xenos in their retinue. It isn't unusual at all to have one or two even for more traditional Inquisitors. Inquisitors can do basically whatever they want as long as a bigger Inquisitor doesn't accuse them of heresy for it.
The real question is why an Acolyte, who you play in Dark Heresy, has xenos in their cell. That part is unusual. Not lore breakingly so, but unusual. But it seems like Owlcat is making you a full Inquisitor rather quickly, so its not that big a deal.

If you mean the main trio then yes. There are plenty of good/great characters besides them. Though it was personally kind of fun seeing Aradrian demonstrating merits of the Path system by going full retard after a bit of danger and smelling that Dark Eldar pussy.

Every other quest is extremely half-assed most likely because the game was rushed, this applies not just to Argenta (who, for some reason causes the most seethe) but to everyone, including Idira, Abelard, Heinrix, etc..

I don't think you can even 'romance' her if you are. It's not exactly a Strom Thurmond situation but in space. Whilst I really enjoy Cassia and Kibellah, a stereotypical racist-to-the-bone Imperial who abhors mutants and considers Voidborn to be only honourary really doesn't have any good option for a stable wife.

Ulfar is stronger than Argenta with his superior statistics and identical class distribution, assuming you're picking best classes for Argenta anyway, Jae is the 100% BEST class in the game, Yrliet with an Officer one taps everything, and Idira is arguably the strongest character in the game if you know how to perilsmaxx. Heinrix is also a stronger and more useful character than Abelard is and he's nearly 20 points behind him. The only character that is really bad mechanically is Marazhai because of how badly he's set up when you get him. And yes, I'm aware Jae has that issue as well but she's easily salvageable. Mechanical strength is not the reason for character popularity or lack thereof, in any case.

Battleshock in 10th edition is mostly a meme because GW gave everyone leadership stats several points higher than they probably should, if passing it wasn't a foregone conclusion then shit like the nid army rule would actually be pretty decent. Stuff that automatically battle shocks is still a significant punishment, since losing objectives and no stratagems is a real penalty, the problem is the actual percentage chances are so low it's never something you can plan on.
Another longtime issue is that damage creep means that units often go from 100-0 in a single phase so morale mechanics aren't relevant because damage creep means you're either fully alive or fully dead with little room in between

They were generically used with no unique dialogue for Eliphas' campaign as an enemy but even in campaign that is basically just a skin. They are in BFG2 but just as an option for a fleet aesthetic with no special lines. I heard Inquisitor Martyr might make a dlc for them but I don't know.

I never had trouble recruiting anyone in this game besides Calligos which I failed at. The dialogue options are incredibly obvious towards recruiting Marazhai unless of course it was lucky on my end I didn't research anything the only thing I distinctly remember sealing the pact was speaking to him in the Haemonculi's Anatomical Opera and I saw dialogue options for making a deal with him. Then during the arena fight you just remind him of the deal and he immediately joins you there was nothing complex about it besides 2 dialogue choices.

Considering RT let you recruit both a CSM and a SM and they took orders from the RT just fine, I'm sure Owlcat can come up with plenty of reasons for a Night Lord to work with and take orders from an Inquisitor if it's mutually beneficial for him to do so.

In other words, you are basing the decisions of what happens in the game based on knowledge that comes from outside the game world and setting you're being presented. You, as a Dogmatic RT character for example, would blam Idira/Marazhai, but you, the player, know that they are companions so you invent justifications to take them with you anyway because you want to see their content. That is metagaming. Which is exactly what you said you were doing, you altered what your character would do and say when you saw someone with a portrait, because you, the player, knows that means they have a higher degree of importance and may be a potential companion, rather than ignoring that and just doing what the character you are playing would do in the given situation.

Valedor is probably the best there is. Asumen and Jain-Zar are okay and detail some pre-Fall stuff which is interesting.
Path of the Eldar's main cast fucking sucks but you see a lot of things like how life aboard Craftworlds works, it's good for lore but bad for plot.
If you're fine with Drukhari, Path of the Dark Eldar is actually good.
The Forges of Mars trilogy has good Eldar bits although it's not about them, and Shadowpoint has the single coolest Avatar of Khaine ever written. The recent Lelith Hesperax novel was good too although some people will seethe about the gays and the trannies, as if Eldar weren't always written to be David Bowie.
