What game, Anon Babble?
Silent Hill 1/2
Resident Evil 1/2/3
Basically every classic survival horror
Last of Us, gameplay was mediocre as fuck
project nortubel
Homosexual concept.
Give me shit games with amazing gameplay.
No such thing unless you count VNs as games.
couldn't agree more for silent hill the games are so good yet the gameplay makes you feel like every character is an handicapped person trying to survive in the real world
gameplay
what a nonsense word
This book has good bookread.
This record has good recordlisten.
This movie has good moviewatch.
That's how retarded it sounds. In reality, a game is just its "gameplay", and that's the only thing that determines whether it is good or not. If a game plays like shit, but the story and characters are good, that just means that... the story and characters are good. The game itself is still shit.
Funnily enough, the game laniakea_out_of_zone is talking about is 9 Kings and it has neither a story nor characters. It is, in fact, 100% gameplay.
I used to think games can be like this but after I played Persona 2: IS, which was terrible, it made me realize I had just been too hard on the gameplay of games that I had considered games that are enjoyable on the whole despite their bad gameplay. Deadly Premonition would be an example of that, but in retrospect, being able to go around Greenvale, the car rides that facilitate the movie conversations, all the little sidequests and so on all add a lot to the game even if it also has a janky feeling to it all and the dungeon segments are a huge drag.
Even with Deadly Premonition's gameplay issues, there's a feeling of continuity between the gameplay and story and I think that, even thought most people probably come away with it thinking the story was the highlight, I don't think the story would be enjoyable if the gameplay just felt like a disconnected interruption that ruins it. That's how Innocent Sin feels and while I don't think it has an incredible story either, it does have some novelty in its setting and you can imagine it being a lot more enjoyable than it is, but the gameplay feels so low-effort and disconnected from the narrative, that to me it makes it feel impossible that it could be a game with a good story but bad gameplay. The gameplay being bad makes the story bad because a bad game is not a good platform for telling a story.
I've been saying this forever. Every single thing I bitch about in video games like clunky controls, shitty save systems, poor gunplay, even visual effects like chromatic aberration, film grain, and other noisy visual nonsense I completely forgive and even welcome in horror games. The game is supposed to be shitty, in some senses. I like the way this sucks: The genre
Factorio
Vampire Survivors
You're a brainlet and a faggot
drhgrd
No such thing, I'm not a plotfag, I play the games for gameplay
You are a gayfaggot
mfw elusive straightfaggot
What game, Anon Babble?
Ys IX, concept is cool, but game feels like a ps2 era one, but without the fun those games were.
that does not compute
Awesome book but bad story
huh?
Okami
any nabokov book
more like
awesome book but badly written (reads badly)
TR Angel of Darkness, my beloved
The Legacy of Kain games.
God of War 1 and Metal Gear Rising.
Love everything but the gameplay, which I just find serviceable until the last 3rd and then it's just bleh.
Actually, it would be
Awesome book but bad prose
God Hand
Sonic and the Black Knight
Unironically Concord
an awesome book can't have bad prose, because that would make it a bad book
gameplay is the flow of the game, how well it controls, how is it paced. unrelated to story or characters. but yeah, shit gameplay = shit game
Elden Ring and most jap games.
"really bad" is an overstatement but it's still pretty basic.
>Awesome book but bad prose
awesome book but badly written
That's what I said though
why do you guys need to use every opportunity you find to shit on a game?
MGS3
Morrowind, Arcanum, Bloodlines, Torment...basically any classic PC RPG.
Gungrave Overdose and 10,000 Bullets
Because I find it peculiar to myself that I can still like things I deem bad.
Phantom Brigade
One of best combat gameplay in XCOM like history
Utterly ruined with overmap and leveled gear
Any Bethesda game.
Warthunder
System Shock 1
Pathologic
RE6
a few Spider-Man games
Are you retarded, for real, for medical conditions?
This movie has good moviewatch.
This is almost a definition for a 'action movie'. pirates of Caribbean for example.
This book has good bookread.
Language or grammar would be more apt. You can have a neat story conceptually but deliver it in an awful way. Movies are the same, they can have absolutely terrible cinematography that drags everything down.
Drakengard
Star Ocean 4
E33
MGSV, both GZ and PP
Earthbound
The battels are pretty bad
Drakengard
Why did that take so long?
Bunch of idiots itt
Best answer so far.
This is bait obviously but I'm gonna interact with it in good faith.
Gameplay is just the word used to describe the facet of the game that is unique to it - in this case its interactivity.
Much like how in a movie you'd refer to the cinematography, something unique to that medium, separate from the movie as a whole.
Good or bad cinematography is not enough to make a movie good or bad, and the same applies to a game's gameplay.
Could we have chosen a less retarded way to refer to this? Sure, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles when an art form is seen as a toy product first for a majority of its infancy.
Witcher 3, no competition. Somehow W1 had better gameplay than 3
Drakengard
hurrr it's le kino
If you say this you've "played" this game through Youtube
