It's better than the first for the most part, but if you didn't like that one there's a decent chance you won't like this as it's more of the same to a large extent. One of the biggest upgrades is you can skip cutscenes, I believe you couldn't in the original which was stupid because it gated so many things and wasn't a great story. Tons of QoL in general. But the fundamental gameplay is basically the same.

It's a series that's had several (mostly well-received) entries so it has much more brand recognition than Fantasy Life especially in Japan, but Inazuma Eleven is not very popular outside of Japan and Fantasy Life has a bit more mainstream appeal due to its surface level similarities to Animal Crossing so honestly I kinda expect Victory Road to not sell as well worldwide.

Yes, but the early game is the best part because the dungeonrunning and survival mechanics keep you on a razor's edge. Once you git gud the game becomes way more of a slog.

Dark Cloud 2 is better in nearly every way, but it also has a bit of late game fatigue with specifically the dungeons and combat feeling tiresome. It's mostly because you get so sidetracked that you expend all your fun when the game still has another three dungeons to go. Also, it fails to introduce new mechanics or minigames or twists in the latter stages that it uses at the early stages to maintain that "Wow, there's so much to do!" feeling.

People can say that someone like Yoko Taro or Uchikoshi are hacks, but the difference is that their stuff generally sells and they still have a fanbase who defends them, whereas I don't even think Inafune has anyone in his corner, especially because he coasted off of his reputation for Mega Man for so long despite him just being a glorified character designer and that it was the rest of the team or people like Akira Kitamura or Tokuro Fujiwara that made the games good in the first place. Mighty Number 9, Red Ash, his advertising NFTs of Mega Man knockoffs, and then him getting booted off the Fantasy Life team to the point that the dev team had to make a public statement to say that you're the reason the game was never going to come out, all of that just paints him as an egotistic dickhead.
