That is the real filter for racing games. Brainlets only look a vehicle length ahead and then cry when they slam into barriers at corners. This is usually followed by a gormless, confused look and claims of "muh brakes" and "muh impossible racing line".

World of Warcraft has the same problem. The default camera position is fucking trash, and it gets even worse when flying.
Thankfully, there are mods and settings that let you adjust the camera.
Anyone playing with the default camera setup on WoW is a retard.

This is literally the same problem as in the OP
A narrow FOV makes the game feel slow.
But then we wouldn't have BEEG COOL CAR and EPIC SCENERY in all the ads.

The only problem with this is the camera is too tight. It's like they made the camera a child of the player object.
This is good though. About 2/3 ground, 1/3 sky is fine. The camera is nice and high and you can see the track for a long way.
This is why GTA3 has the best camera of the PS2 GTAs.
