Dude, Dragonball is a series that has, at it's core, always been the Goku show. The only characters I can think of that mostly stay cool and aren't TOO embarrassed is Future Trunks, despite having some fights in History of Trunks and the whole Grade 3 fiasco. Trunks has some sick as hell fights. "Our" timeline 17 and 18 are pretty protected, with their only real loses coming from Cell, the character created to just absorb them. And that is kind of it, honestly. Frieza is back on the uptick, obviously characters like Grand Zenoh, Whis, and Beerus are protected. But the "Z fighters" all, Gohan and Vegeta included only exist to make enemies look strong. Broly is one who seems to MAYBE escape just being a jobber.
It's been one of Dragonballs biggest issues in my opinion. If you are a Vegeta fan, just remember that Gohan fans exist.
