My theory is that Noelle is going to go grimdark to heal Rudy, but will instead turn him into something horrible, like Cyberdemon or shoggoth. We will fight him and turn him back to normal, but this will weaken him enough that he will succumb to his illness. Worse yet, the condition was non-fatal to begin with, and it was all just one big tragic misunderstanding.

most of the Advanced Lore everyone's talking about here is completely baseless. 90% of it will be proven wrong and never spoken of again in 6 days. Even the stuff on the Spamton Sweepstakes website doesn't provide much actual information, just the fact that we'll need the Shadow Mantle to get the chapter 3 schizoboss, which we already knew from Seam explicitly saying it in Ch2

1. because the 3rd skeleton is implied to be gaster, so in the same vein as beta papyrus, semi's character evolves and becomes gaster in toby's head

2. gaster's experiments ended up shattering him across space and time so now he's in some meta purgatory. but it's implied he not only fucked off from the reality like the dwarves in TES; but deleted/escaped ENTIRELY. It would make sense that whatever turned Semi into gaster/HIM also purged the Semi identity from every file in the game. he can only communicate in indirect ways (wingdings, schizocode, FUN events) because semi serif was removed from the game files.

the shadow mantle is (most likely) King's cape, that gives him some sort of power to physically hitch his chain attack to the meta-layer holding the SOUL and drag it around. It's also probably the reason his battle theme has Ralsei's leitmotif in it
