Is it true people dont like to play as non humans?

In games with race options humans tend to be at worst neutral and at best they follow dnd ruleset and give you an extra feat. bonus to ability scores is largely just numbers autism but feats actually provide unique gameplay opportunities and every feat point you lose from minmax optimal is essentially crippling your character in some capacity.

If every character is a bipedal humanoid, then I'm playing a human (unless skeleton is an option). Simple as.

Yeah I don't like to play as non-humans. Part of that is the leftist tendency to make non-humans the good guys and also conveniently leftists.

They somehow even managed to make Turians look like shit in this game

humans are third most popular race in wow

yet to play single game where non human options are so bad your only option is going human
friend of mine however plays final fagtasy mmo, he refused to play anything but human in that game

yes

Soulless people don't like to play as non-humans.

She cute.

yes

Yes, but it makes no difference in modern games, because all races are humans wearing costumes in most games now.

If given the option to play a non human ill take it. If my only options are human elves or dwarfs then ill just make a human male character. Elves are fags and dwarfs suffer from shortman syndrome as a racial trait

OP here, thanks for the research...this is bad for my game I fear
Fucking off now

.

Just make NON-humanoid playable characters.
quadrupeds, slimes, insects, ominous floating cubes, anseriformes, bedsheet ghost, etc.

your playable options are

humans

human but short and red and also if you ever do physical labor you are breaking the established rules of the setting

human but tall and blue and also if you ever cast magic you are breaking the established rules of the setting

human but skinny and orange and also if you ever do a crime you are breaking the established rules of the setting

oh also, heres the important one, you dont know any of the established rules of the setting until after you leave character creator and play the game for 5 hours because menu loredumps are just so blasé, so instead we sprinkled them into the setting so that you will encounter it naturally over the course of your playthrough.

Depends on the game
Depends on the non-humans
Depends on how attractive either option is

Robot > Human > Alien > Niggers

Yes, people prefer the sense of familiarity they get from humans, they will romance non-humans, but the majority will still only play as humans. Elves come second because they're the most human-like.

I can accept fantasy races as long as staying humans remain an option

Is it true people dont like to play as non humans?

Probably. A lot of people self-insert into videogames. So that's a large portion of dudes playing dudes and chicks playing chicks. Then you have the dudes that want to see female ass, dudes that self insert as women, the chicks that wanna see dudes and the chicks that self insert as dudes. If there are animal races that are "earth like", furries jump right on that. Then there are all the other human but a different shade/color/exaggerated features ala elves, drawves etc.
By the time you get to the people that are just like I want an experience that is wholly disconnected from me, you're left with like 0.005 of the gamer population.

I have to do the raiden switch then, thank you for the info

game lets you play as a robot

I'm an ugly man in general and have been ignored for 99% of my life, so I don't mind being a Turian. I think they look cool.

I always play as a male human characters when given the choice.

liked to play non-humans as a kid

liked to play meta or build-synergistic races as a teenager

Now I only play human men

I'll just choose a human with robot acting range.

OP here, its so hard to be original. its over....

How stunning.

Getting to play different races in me3's pve mode was the best part of the experience.

I prefer to romance the non-humans, it appeals to me more than playing as one.

The head of agriculture did nothing wrong

Do you prefer playing non-humans in games? As for me, I usually play either when given the option. In the case like Mass Effect. I wish there was an opportunity to play a non-human character. Although I do get why in context of the narrative it was human centric. But what drives me crazy when it comes to most developers nowadays. Is them being unwilling to implement said option out of shear laziness.

Not me. I got bored of playing as humans ages ago.

I do prefer robots or other extremely removed contexts. Current vidya is too safe, too afraid to be strange.

Youre not exactly playing human in certain games, strategy, things more "technical" like Uplink. I believe the problem with identification can be solved if one twists the context, hopefully

Kenshi 2 will have every representative of the Second Empire present in all their glory before the explosion at the Grid sends them into a death spiral

everything still pales to what was lost when the First Empire fell all those eons ago

Mass effect 3 should have been Shepard siding with the Illusive man and exterminating aliens and fucking their bitches (mostly Tali).
All themes that will make RPG game cool are considered unsafe.

Mass Effect isn't 40K. It's not like humanity itself would've been enough against the Reapers anyhow.

DAoT was a fairly close approximation if you consider one off side stories involving the Men of Iron and the Spirit of Eternity as being a now long dead standard. Humanity wasn't exactly united but they weren't a bunch of shit sniffing savages worshiping some hopped up kebab sitting on a golden throne.

If someone made a competent Warhammer Fantasy MMO I would definitely have two characters. One human and one lizardman.

Kino game, kino lore

Soulless bug people and the low iq, yeah. See it requires basic empathy to play as a nonhuman as well as imagination to put yourselves in their shoes. Things browns and yellows lack.

Maybe people are just xenophobic by nature.

Low IQ apes and bugs are, yeah. They also can't understand that alien races aren't real so that logic makes no sense. It's sad really.

Then make them sexy females and there will be no problem.

You browns really are so sad and boring.

The fact that there are both wolf people and domesticated dog people has some uncomfortable implications for the history of this setting.

You whites are becoming extinct because you are so good at going against your self preservation instincts.

I tend to play a non-human if everyone else is human or near-human and a human if everyone else is non-human.
People will play as non-humans but you should moderate the amount of playable non-humans. If it's too close to human, most people will just pick human anyway. If it's too far from human, only weirdos like me will play them.
That being said, if a race is important to your setting and you want to let them be playable, just let them. A playable race option will still be useful for the GM for making NPCs and followers of the party.

Seethe harder, shitskin. If we die out then it won't be long before you end up back in the garbage dump eating literal shit.

Shit, I thought I was on Anon Babble.

If the game has non-humans or furries in it, I go human to enforce my human supremacy fetish.

If its a Tolkien/DnD like setting, Dwarf Paladin, always, accept no substitutes
anything else it depends on the setting, let me play as a robot and I'll do that, robots are cool

If

*when

Human Paladin of Asmodeus.
