I just bought these for hardcore vidya gaymen. What should I expect bros?
I just bought these for hardcore vidya gaymen. What should I expect bros?
headaches
subpar jap garbage, should've bought german
they're good but expect the pleather to start flaking and getting over everything in a few months
They have good sound, get these brainwavzaudio.com
Gamer Dent, Tinnitus, brief pain in the ass + a crunch
buying headphones before trying them in person
couldnt be me
decent sound quality but with discomfort if worn for longer periods of time
gamer dent
Kek I forgot about this shit.
Plastic flakes everywhere
M50X are good over-ear closed backs but I ended up heavily preferring the sound and clarity of a pair of Drop HD6XXs
Also like the others say the pleather's gonna get everywhere after a while. A good part of the M50X is that pretty much everything on it is replaceable because they're so ubiquitous. Recommend getting different earpads made of better material
They were my first decent headphones. Just be aware they have terrible pads that go flat and start shedding the fake leather pretty quickly, both of which change the sound quality for the worse because being flatter makes the driver sit closer to your ear and the shedding makes it seal worse, resulting in less bass.
I later bought the DT770 Pro 80 ohm (don't buy the non-80 ohm versions, they have a different sound signature) and much prefer that in terms of sound quality, comfort, and longevity (you don't have to worry about the earpad material flaking and losing the seal)
Currently using the 6XX which I prefer the sound of, but I find it worse for games where you need to hear footsteps like CS or Valorant. It's also open-back which means it doesn't isolate sound as much, so it'll let some sound in and out.
amazing quality just get some new earpads
An overpriced uncomfortable headphone not really meant for gaming. I'd recommend anything else.
I did not find these comfortable. I'd recommend the Sennheiser 599s.
overpriced
you can get it for under $100 on sale
are you getting anything else around the same sound quality for less? (Except for maybe Koss KPH40 or IEMs, but you have some compromises there.)
trying them in person
where?
do they actually sound decent? I've heard some mid-forward sennies before and they were unlistenable
Some hi-fi stores will let you try out headphones, good luck if you're not in a big city though, and their selections are usually limited. A place near me lets you demo the Focal Bathys but you need to schedule it
these were a meme like 10+ years ago, there are way better headphones now.
they have bloated gaymer mid bass that makes them sound muddy.
Everything to start peeling. And being unable to fix the headband
tinnitus? what does that have to do with headphones, especially closed-back ones?
Ear aches from the pads being shit.
Ok sound
And a really fucking long cable.
I had the ath-m20x which are considered by some a bit better even tho they're a lot cheaper
I used to have the ATH-M50x, which are fine for the price on sale
but they fell apart after a few years and I bought sennheiser 599s also on sale which are definitely better
m40x with a change of pads is considered better than the m50x for some reason, seemingly down to the tuning
i think because he means the ath-m50xes have really fucking high treble
i want to try these but the lack of detachable cable is very cringe.
A detachable cable would make it 10/10, really wish they would do it. You can mod a detachable cable in, but that requires a lot of effort. They're still great though if you like a bright sound with a mild v-shape. If you're a person that likes a warmer sound you'll hate them.
How is it so hard for them to make durable pads? All my HyperXs completely lost their leather after a year, but then my random JBL headset has its pads properly intact two years later
should I get these or IEMs?
Heaphone are juvenile, once you leave your parents house a nice set of tower speakers and a subwoofer.
oh it's a normie Anon Babble thread "audio"phile (kek) thread. lmao so when's the turtle beach kids going to come out? there's probably some already here.
Total meme headphones, I was shilled these over ten years ago and they had the harshest sibilance plus they feel like shit
For the tiny little price of plastic that functions as the folding lock to break in a month and for them to never sit properly on your head again. Literally designed to fail.
happened to me, had to use superglue to lock it into the right place
I have some cloud alphas, what's a good upgrade from these? They are fine but I would like something better.
bought these on sale 8 years ago and still my GOAT headphones. I bought Sony XM5s for commute and work and these piece of crap broke on me after 2 years.
I honestly cannot recommend these to anybody anymore. Their extremely terrible build quality cannot justify the price point. The sound is decent, but these days there are so many better sounding cans with significantly better build quality for cheaper.
Buy a cheap desk mic (you can find ones that'll work well enough for $20) and get some actual headphones. What headphones to buy depends what your budget and preferences are. Generally the 6XX and DT770 Pro (80 ohm) are the safest choices.
recommendations?
these are really good
I broke my old ones and bought a new one
t. actually plays music
extremely tight clamp and uncomfortable for even short periods
The Sennheiser HD599 are basically the same thing but open back and way more comfortable
Based and Sennheiser-pilled.
I don't even think they sell these anymore, I have a backup pair though for when these break.
The ear covers will eventually start flaking, and I use Geekria (Geekira?) replacement covers and they are honestly softer and more comfortable than the original covers.
Its little brother the M40X is better for cheaper
Somehow the m40x pads are even worse than the m50x. At least the m50x pads are ok until they fall apart in a year, but the m40x pads need to be replaced right out of the box.
Wearing them RIGHT NOW, I've had them for the past 3 years. GAME ON BROTHER
yea I fell for the ATH-M50x meme too.
over time, the cushions will compress, which will cause the hard plastic soundstage (it's covered by a very thin fabric) to press against your ear, causing pain during extended use of the headphones. in the future, you will have to replace the cushions with something third-party that would not have this issue.
but really, I'd rather not have to do that at all. my pair currently sits in storage. I'm currently using a wireless soundcore space q45 headset instead.
post how crusty the pads are
The 50s may feel nicee but the 40s are more neutral and so better for gaymen
But anyways an open back headphone like the SHP9500 trumps both for that purpose, and for much cheaper
BIG thinking head here,
AKG K612pro for me
they are maximum comfy, light and comfortable, but require proper sound card with headphone amp
Every pair of headphones cuts off circulation in my head and makes me feel retarded.
Same, have had mine for nearly a decade now. Change out the ear pads ever year, and only had the change the wire once when i broke it like a retard. Why would anybody need more
No and fuck you
The 770 ProX's have a detachable cable.
Do they have the EXACT same tuning as the DT770 80 ohm though?
Hate these fuckin things, they sound like a fucking tin can and string phone.
Bought some phillips x2hrs on sale a few years back and it's night and day.
Are the Fidelio x3 good? I don't know much about headphones, but seem to be great for the price.
pads are supposed to be replaced periodically, aduionerds recommend yearly
horrible clamping pressure
sweaty pleather pads
2015 niggabass
would recommend pretty much anything else now, the era for these has passed
i know for whatever reason luddite Anon Babble tards are wirelessphobic and they infect all boards, but any pair of midrange sony wireless headphones will outperform these in comfort, sound clarity, modern features like noise cancellation, multi-point connections etc, and they typically include a 2.5mm cable to connect wired anyway. pretty much all the RND + money for midrange products go into wireless now
Where did you buy a new cable? The short one it came with is starting to die on me and I'd rather not use the long one.
