-amazing combos of factions
-actual balance between factions and champions
-slick gameplay mechanics where you can pretty much win with anything you wanna build
-very long and very replayable
-redo battle button if you made a totally stupid mistake instead of wasting your whole run

I put a lot of time into the first one. It was good but not as good as StS. I've heard this one is better and they port over the cards/clans from the first game, albeit the balance isn't there just like it wasn't in the first game.

I did a winning run on every combination of factions so far and they are actually very balanced. The first game was alright but this one blows it out of the water!

Understandable but some designs are pure Sovl like the shrooms faction with the cute shroomguys and the coomerbait shroomgirls

they got rid of all the draw cards (if the first one had draw cards i don't remember)
artifacts aren't as interesting as spire

they got rid of all the draw cards

wut? there is plenty of +draw cards, what are you smoking

First game had effects that let you draw more cards on the following turn.

everything needs to have coomer appeal when trying to sell me on a game

Fuck this gay earth

it's only like 3 cards in one faction man
but it's funny because it's the faction you least expect to have coomer designs

i'm only like level 10/9/4/6/6 and haven't seen a draw card

Go back to work on inkbound you lazy fucks

unlock more pyres

there is draw cards like pic rel and also many +draw next turn, which is pretty much the same
Really not hard to fill your hand to max every turn with the right engine

inkbound

is it any good?

Is that a normal winning run or all 3 titans winning run?

I keep jobbing with the shroomgang+banished

rally or decay feels like it requires so much investment when the late fights will not let you ramp up in the slightest and having no faction with free economy makes me realize how poor you end up throughout the game.

Any general tips from the vets for MT2s deckbuilding and economy?

I played the first one a bunch but it felt very unfinished, like there was a severe lack of events on the path between battles and you ended up just seeing the same ones over and over. Never bothering getting the DLC for it.

Is the 2nd better in that regard? I know the main point is the battles, but like Slay the Spire some of the wacky events that can completely change your deck/build for the run help to keep things from getting stale.

It isn't very difficult to be better than Slay the Spire. But MT1 was great; no strong desire to play MT2. I wish more people made SINGLE PLAYER CCGs like Cardaire which released late last year.

How does it improve on the first?

double the factions for a start.

The "events" are not very varied but some are gamechanging like the emberstones penitent

But MT1 was great; no strong desire to play MT2.

it's beter than the first one on all counts tho

I did 10 full titans runs which each one of the factions as lead. Didnt do the 180 runs tho because that's crazy

I keep jobbing with the shroomgang+banished

how? that's a crazy fucking strong combo.
Valor + Funguy giant stacks is free as fuck for win and require like no investment

That pic reminded me of an anime idea I had. Think Dr. Stone but instead of a genius you have an absolute retard by today's standards. He gets reincarnated (Isekai kino) to a land full of grugs and has the stupidest ideas, but the people around him are so dumb they think he is the smartest person to ever live. And all his ideas work but for reasons that are completely different from his intentions. That shit would be so kinooooo

Having to level up factions is suffering. I only play on all random but like half of my factions are so underleveled that a titan run is impossible on them so they never get leveled up and the cycle of suffering continues.

it's the most derivative, boring shit I've played in a long time

Does that just mean twice as much to grind in order to unlock thing or are they more distinct to play?
No point in doubling factions if they share gimmicks or exist purely to fill space

More factions/cards along with new mechanics and enemies, the usual stuff you'd expect from a sequel

Room and Equipment card types

Units can have activated abilities with cooldowns now

Selectable pyre heart which gives a buff to your entire run (you can still use the basic one from MT1 if you don't want a gimmick run)

Can transition into an Endless mode after you win (it scales up ballbustingly fast, unless you have an infinite you probably won't get past the third fight so I never bother)

More of a """story""" (this is a negative, but at least it's only a couple textboxes you have to click through every other run, they stop when you've unlocked all the pyre hearts)

The five initial clans from MT1 are unlockable after a few hours, unfortunately they have no significant changes and Wurmkin is absent for now, but more game is more game, simple as

It isn't very difficult to be better than Slay the Spire

name ONE deckbuilder better than Slay the Spire

You didnt play it, but thanks for the bump I guess!

no faction share gimmicks. some share the same win plans like spell factions or units faction but they all have unique gimmicks

5 new clans along with the old clans being unlockable
More events
Deployment phase allowing you to set units before the start of combat
Generally the game has made it a lot easier to build multi floor strategies, and with things such as units having activated abilities and different pyre with different effects, the game has also become overall deeper
So far it's been pretty fun to me. My main complaint is that new clans have a real lack of health scaling, it really makes debuffs like corruption feel that much more noticable.
So far from my experienced the Banished are the only ones with meaningful defensive since Valor gives armor. Outside of that, the shrooms can stack regen and that's about it
I haven't played Lazarus that much so maybe what I'm looking for is there

Tied for third highest rated game this year

Didn't expect it to turn out as good as it did.

(it scales up ballbustingly fast, unless you have an infinite you probably won't get past the third fight so I never bother

The third fight is insane yeah. I had an absolutely busted multistrike run and needed to redo fight 3 like 8 times to win.
But then I jobbed on fight 5 anyway kek

Sounds like they did improved upon it, thanks lads.

Banished + Underworld kind of lack in meaningful ways to clear units with spells. Stacking valor can only help so much when you run in to a fat stack of enemies with one of those curse guys in the back. Really makes you miss all those pyregel and explosive spells
That sad, proliferating damage shield is really fucking stupid

You probably havent unlocked the real busted cards yet my dude: after level 6 you get some crazy stuff.
Also Banished has a great permanent health stacker if you use second champion, my best run was with her and Hellbound secondary faction.

Monster Train.

so kinda like a reverse Idiocracy kek

wrong

Initially but you're investing too much into one floor to scale fast enough compared to the threats that start arriving. currently on cov rank9. My general experience with them has been they shred bosses but

Arnt able to ramp them up fast enough that the fungi can oneshot the 400+ units.

Can but dont have enough sweepers to deal with reanimate or the backline

Banished is filled with absolute shit cards and the ones you want get calcified every goddam time.

Same. Came out of nowhere, I decided to buy it on a whim while waiting for Nightreign because I remembered having fun when I pirated the first one years ago. Then I was blown by the quality so much I barely touched Nightreign (because it sucks)

242222772.png - 744x744, 418.92K

I was expecting you to reply with a game that's actually better than StS

*solos an entire floor by himself*

img_5673.jpg - 3840x2160, 532.03K

not this anon, but it's pretty obvious he could say any game and you would be bad faithing because you think StS is the best. A really pointless argument

Yeah they are fucking great.
I remember one run where I had Dualism + Multistrike on this nigga then I ran into the mirror and X5 him
Easiest win of my life

shrooms are fun

No, because there are games who bring other stuff to the table like Chrono Ark (a story, interesting mechanics and multiple party members that have unique gimmicks) that might not be objectively better but they are good enough to stand for themselves. The first Monster Train felt too derivative from StS so I do not think it's better. I just bought the new one, I'll have to see if it's actually better.

Play more games, faggot.

Is anyone using other pyres than the random free extra room after combat? that shit is insanely busted

I need to get back into KCD2, I might just wait for a year until all the DLC is out though

put on titanite and sap on attack

boss just flailing wildly doing fuck all

Poker.jpg - 725x1080, 99.84K

I enjoyed Chrono Ark too. I am allowed to enjoy other games than gay ass Slay the Spire. Gamecube DECKBUILDERS were better than that overtuned shitheap.

this guy doesnt give a fuck about the mad max thing. he just wants to purge the unrighteous.

Just got my first win with that combo a while ago, pretty standard rally stuff with bolette scaling like a god with valor helping keep people standing. Usually the rally win con is finding a cluster col to dupe and a good rally trigger like bolette's scaling or decay maxing. In my case my floor 1 is 4 cluster col, bolette, a quick bird and the shroom stack. Not much you'll actually want from banished except for the quick or multi-strike bird, cleave and the multistrike spear

I have personal preference for the deployment ember one since I usually spend a lot on deployment. Another good one is the savagery pyre, gives scaling to any unit that might need it

get 2nd part of the inscryption event, somehow

have volatile gauge

completely fill all 3 floors with this fucker and sweep the titans

Shrimple as.

on luna coven i like the starting energy. on little fade i like the one that lets you freeze cards so i can have a good equip ready. on exiles and frankenstein i like the heal or energy.
i dont want a fucking zergling egg on my train.

He's right. You have to rely on the Pyre Heart and artifacts if you want draw.

Monster Train

Is this an Indian nightmare?

get hipswinging Plague waifu as starting random

put multistrike on her in the first shop to double her hip thrusts

get Mirror event, get five more Plague waifus

get box event, stuff three of them in there

rest of the run is going to vents to copy the box

Orechi just ended up tanking lol.

This game makes me feel like a god damn retard.

best deck builder I played since Slay the Spire

Damn, that's a low bar. StS is basic as fuck.

can't put the ozempicstone on a 1-size unit

Damn, I wanted to give it Overgrowth so it grows infinitely and then play with only hand.

Booted up the first one to do some more runs with it since I never got every clan to level 10 or even used the DLC bug people.
The DLC clan is interesting, but man is it hard to pull anything off with them so far.

I know there's a lot of clans in the new one including all of the old ones and their champs returning, unsure on the dlc one and that things are better balanced and more clan pairings are viable, but did they ever give anyone a third champion or improve upon the absolute dogshit useless ones?

Since heaven and hell are teaming up in 2, is there a "winged" faction or is that blatant dlc bait?

Calcified cards aren't bad. The downside is so minimal that it almost doesn't matter at all.

If I wasn't doing random pyre every run I would be using the one that gives gold when pyre takes damage. It's so busted it's not even funny.

Looks like fun. Will metafags with copypasta decks ruin it like they did MTG and Yugioh?

Touhou Lost Branch of Legend, adding more defensive mechanics really made me appreciate the gameplay more.
But I also think some of StS's game design rubs me in the wrong way because there's a chink cultivation StS clone that's being developed I got really into when they released the demo for Next Fest.

The game feels too braindead easy.

Most of it just comes down to spamming a certain effect on a floor with a bunch of units that benefit greatly from it. It either pumps a fuck ton of buffs on all of the allied units or a fuck ton debuffs on the enemies. Because of this most of the clans don't feel very different at all.

dunno lol.webm - 700x498, 1011.37K

I'm tired of all these deckbuilding roguelites.
Not only are they unoriginal and boring for ape brain zoomers without an attention span, they also ALL copy the card and art style of fucking Hearthstone. It's all so tiresome

711261932

okay

too easy

Unless you're doing titan runs with over 50% win rate then it's not too easy. I bet you haven't even unlocked them yet.

Ape brain zoomers without an attention span

TBS games that require math scaling

What

Rougelike Card builder

ahahahahahahahh
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I will continue to have fun and you will continue to be mad. So it's a win/win for me.

They're not going to just add Wurmkin alone, they're going to add a new one to match the new clans. Since there's already 9 clans of hell + fallen angels and moon aliens, it has to be something outside those. Could just be Archus leading another angel faction though.

Honestly it should be an angel faction. Hell I'd be perfectly fine if they asset flip the hell out of all the old shit from 1.

It's something that would be right up my alley but I just can't get past the way it looks, it's so fucking bad. Same as Nidhogg 2.

Do you do all your Dimensional challenges first to unlock stuff, or do you unlock stuff then do your challenges?

You should do at least one dimensional challenge because it's needed for a pyre and features unlocks
Fortunately the first challenge is braindead easy, all the equipements cost zero

>Rougelike Card builder

yeah and? it's also a tower defense kinda

Actually started doing the higher covenants and jesus some of this shit just isn't fair. The fuck are you supposed to do about all this corruption? A boss that has geometric damage progression? And a normal enemy spawn that mutes all your fucking lineup? Enemy incant triggers that mean you are shit out of luck if you're a spellspam build?

I get that you can check the final boss out first thing, but there wasn't anything near this bullshit in the first game. I feel like I'm obligated to only play the most broken shit possible to have a chance sometimes.

Also it feels like none of the new decks have any card draw. At all.

How in the ever living fuck do I win with Wumkin in 1? I'm at ascension 6 or whatever and I can't even do it if I knock it down to 3.
They're cool, but they feel so fucking gimped compared to the others.

git gud or fuck back to lower convenants and stop whining.
The game is very fair, you can win Covenant 10 Titans with any combo and you can abuse the "redo battle" button too.
The only "unfair" shit is reaching Titans with sub 25 pyre because it's kinda instaloss due to the pyreroom Titan and the endless mode after round 3 and up.

Wurmkin has crazy econ with golden eggs and avarice, pick a second faction with strong units and boost them the fuck out.

I somehow won with this absolute dogshit deck. Ironically the titan fight was probably the easiest I've had yet. All I did was propagate conduit and regen.

Avarice? And I can look into eggs again; they're great when you can get some amazing upgrades on them since the unit spawns inherit, but man the hero takes up way too much space for what h does. I imagine the secondary you unlock is much better. I did decently pairing them with the rekindled to just loop units as well as god the blue wurm that hits like a truck and gave it quick, but still got washed because I just wasn't killing quick enough before they entered my pryor room.

Im talking about the golden egg loot mechanic, which gives you gold, minor and major artifacts every fight if you stack it (with stuff like Alchemy spell...)
Avarice gives you some gold on every attack from the unit.
Secondary hero is a funny fat bitch dragon queen who can spawn golden eggs to defend for big rewards or whelps

I beat the last dimensional challenge yesterday.
Also. I don't really give a fuck about cheevos. But I was surprised when the Entropy challenge, a seemingly random one, had its own achievement. And yet there was no achievement for beating all of them. So two surprises there.

1748799171.jpg - 1920x1080, 820.7K

Propagate adds Valor and Fungi stacks. And whatever other buffs you might have.
It's really good since propagate are often rather low investment.

He asked about the DLC clan in 1, not the dragons

ah my bad, i thought it was the name of the dragonkins

That doesn't look difficult at all. The only hard part would be dealing with blights and scourges but you get free ascends so you can just grab all the ember upgrades.

The Body Blocking challenge? Yeah one of the easiest.

I got this game a few days ago but barely played it outside of that first tutorial run.
Just finished Covenant 1. That last boss with weakness stacks was cancer, both his effect and cards that he crams into your own deck.

the old factions are weak

all you need to win is a big boy with multistrike

fiend.jpg - 2560x1600, 1.24M

The birds are a pain on that one

While I respect how the MT1 cards/decks are exactly as they were in MT1. I still think they should have made slight alterations/additions to the clans.

Like how none of the MT1 clans have their own equipments or rooms. If you play with two MT1 clans then the only equipments or rooms you'll find are the generic ones (which can admittedly be a benefit if you search for cards such as the mirror room or glass cannon or whatever but still)
The lack of the temples and fusion etc already kind of significantly alters how the MT1 clans function in practise. So they could have just as well made them ever so slightly more uniform with the new MT2 clans.

boss spawns alongside a birdfucker

can't just stall the floor until the birdfucker ascends

have to either kill the bird in one turn or simply take pyre-damage twice.

just beat the titans for the first time
had to fight through corruption seraph and then all that on cov10, it was fun but VERY stressful. If dominion had lasted one or two more turns the roided champion enemies would have made it all the way up and smashed the pyre to bits
there being no relentless phase in that fight is kind of weird, I can see it screwing over some strategies

not even the best Revenge unit in his faction

Sorry buddy, you're pretty cool, but Firebrand exists

The titans feel a bit too easy to be honest. The only preparing you need to do for them is to have a lot of pyre health or cards that restore it. The big fucker doesn't do anything and savagery is just a trash mob with a lot of health that never enters the pyre room.

STS is one of the ugliest games ever made

Where Wurmkin?

DLC.

STS is ugly but like Newgrounds flash game ugly, which is inoffensive compared to the Monster Train art style

Just mute or daze them. they give you stygian guard for a reason.

I disagree StS' art style is vomit inducing while this game's is more inoffensive even if it's bad

Thinking about fat
