Is there videogame this GPU can't play?
Is there videogame this GPU can't play?
the bad ones
Alan wake, Indiana Jones. doom the dark ages.
So just the shitty ones nobody should play?
Goal posts? Moved. You lost.
it can play all of those games
FFVII Rebirth
That fucking thing can play anything @ 1080p.
It is physically incapable of running great circle and dark ages in any capacity. Alan wake 2 doesn't achieve 60fps at 1080p lowest settings on performance.
these games.
idk about alan wake, but you can't play any rtx required games whatsoever.
halo 5
It can't. My old computer has a 1080ti in it. My new computer that I bought a couple years ago has a 4090.
tomsguide.com
It absolutely can play the games. You just aren't allowed to LOL
It can't. I played Quake2RTX on my 1080ti and it really really struggled.
1080ti is really good for VR. I started playing VR on my GTX780 and got good frame rates.
It can totally play the games
you're just physically blocked from playing them with no way around it.
Even with official support the very article you posted shows the 1080ti not running at a remotely playable frame rate for a 6 year old game.
Just turn on upscaling. I ran some benchmarks.
Native 1080p:
6700XT with hardware raytracing - 53 fps
6700XT with emulated raytracing - 22 fps
Vega 56 with emulated raytracing - 14 fps
1080p 50% scaling:
Vega 56 with emulated raytacing - 48 fps
Surely your fancy Nvidia graphics card is more powerful than a $50 Vega?
It isn't physically blocked, it's a software block.
reddit.com
Why are you defending a 3 trillion dollar company on a Japanese cartoon website?
its a great card which is why it still costs almost as much as anything new coming out
This was four years ago. I have a 4090 now. My big debate now for a dedicated VR desktop is 1080ti vs rx6600
Dude, just stop. You're embarrassing your self. Quake2RTX is not as demanding as Doom the Dark Ages.
Why don't you stop pretending to be retarded on this croatian basket weaving forum and show me what happens if you bypass this software block for these games?
Surely you have some benchmarks to back up your claims?
The 6600 is the better choice. The little bit of extra raw power is not worth the tradeoff of missing hardware features and drivers.
It is a great card but it's not hard to get a used one under $200 right now.
What do you mean what happens? You play the game? It's not a particularly good game from what I've heard.
youtube.com
The 6600 is the better choice.
Probably. It is 8GB vs 11GB though? 3GB probably isn't enough to matter for 2x 1080x1200.
With experience running Quake 2 RTX on a 1080ti sucked complete ass. Low Settings. Slide Show. Card wanting to burst into flames. Sure I could try and run lossless scaling or what ever these days for a few extra frames, but when it comes to running the game as it is. It sucks. Technically is can run it. That's about it.
Bloodborne
thats really cool, but has to be amd and linux apparently.
still, id is a bunch of stupid faggot retards for requiring everyone else to use RTX
Where in this video is a 1080ti playing Doom the Dark ages anon.
you could buy a fucking 8gb 3060ti for that price right now too.
It's just a video showing what happens when you have actual drivers for your hardware.
That's great on AMD's behalf but I then take it you agree that the 1080TI cannot run doom the dark ages?
It can run the game. You are just blocked by a malicious entity.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
ff7 rebirth
Id is now Bethesda/Microsoft. And pushing the market forward with new tech isn't a new thing or a bad thing. The only problem with today is the whole GPU cost/scarcity thing.
I'm sure people wouldn't have been pleased if games required the new transform and lighting engine that the original Geforce came with.
This is a valid example of a game it can't run because of the mesh shader requirement
If you really wanted to play it with hacked lowest settings and upscaling, but are you really playing the game at that point? What if you couldn't even see the green blobs in time to parry them?
yeah, half life RTX, probably
MS shifted DirectX support requirements a long time ago to mean "you have to support every feature of a revision or you can't support it at all." ATi and Nvidia were doing well, but ghetto companies like S3 and Matrox couldn't keep up.
The practice of artificially blocking it is ridiculous but it IS blocked and i'm not seeing any footage of it running these game bypassing it for all intents and purposes it cannot run those games. Sentimentality about how it COULD run it is a weird defense of nvidia in itself but i'd concede if the block were a) able to be bypassed AND b) it ran at at a playable framerate
I don't know if you need to call them ghetto. S3 made great cards that retained generations worth of compatibility. And Matrox made great cards that focused on superior display quality. They just couldn't modernize as they needed to stay competitive.
I can't show it to you because the device has no functional third party drivers.
this shit is going to go the way of physx and you'll be paying $300 for remasters of 2025 games in 20 years.
fuck off with that shit.
obviously it's not pushing the market forwards when a god damn 5700 xt can run the god damn game using linux at 30+ fps without a fucking problem.
It can't play any modern games at 4K.
I disagree
Then the 1080ti cannot run dark ages. GPUs are more than just their physical hardware.
I hope you're not implying that physx is dead and gone. It's clearly not. And beyond that I don't know what you're talking about. It doesn't make any sense. I don't pay money for remakes that come out today. Especially if they're also on gamepass. To me that's a free pass to pirate.
Counterpoint, forced ray tracing is a meme, pushes for forced obsolescence, and the games that demand it aren't worth playing.
PhysX was open sourced over 10 years ago
It seems like if I can find a 3060 on sale for around $200 that's the best bet these days on a budget, though a 6600 isn't far off it and is easier to find around that price.
mirrors edge can hardly run on a 5090 now, 40 series was the last cards that even had it.
fucking catch up.
Anyone who doesn't keep their old 4090 for PhysX doesn't deserve to play games anyway.
spend 150 more and just get a 9060 16gb.
anyone that doesn't keep their old rtx cards for raytracing doesn't deserve to play games anyway
anyone that doesn't keep their flippybippy cards for flipbipping doesn't deserve to play games anyway
anyone that doesn't keep their snartysnarfnext cards for snartysnarfing doesn't deserve to play games anyway
and on and on and on.
well you're stupid so I don't care.
you can get a dedicated physx card for what, $1?
hold up, i'm posting again? i don't remember creating this thread. #neverRTX #2KGaming #TheWayItsMeantToBePlayed
I completely agree about forced raytracing being actively hostile to consumers particularly given the current GPU market. I still enjoy dark ages but forced raytracing is an active mark against it particularly given that it looks WORSE than doom eternal for a massive performance hit. Id software gets away with it because the games are otherwise solidly optimized considering they're raytraced but other devs are going to follow along and be actively unplayable for a large array of devices.
I just went from a 1070 to 5090, whatever positives you have to say about your pascal card is just cope at this point.
Its nearly a decade old, can't you save money for a new gpu in that length of time?
8GB?
Sounds inferior, my friend. Get a load of 11GB GDDR5X with a 384-bit memory bus.
f(ourth)pbp
caring about AAAAAAA games
their old 4090
i appreciated it, anon
video games are not worth a $3k+ piece of hardware. nice troll though, upvoted.
1080ti is the greatest video card of all time but still rocking it in 2025 is noble but foolish. You are the Don Quixote of gaming, you admirable retard.
keep their old 4090 for PhysX
Wait... wut?
This is a good post.
5 series doesn't support legacy 32-bit PhysX so there are compatibility/performance issues with some older games.
you could just skip rtx entirely for what? The price of a used 5700 xt. and yet, he could play mirrors edge at a far far higher framerate than you can now.
Is it possible that support can be patched back in? I wasn't aware they dropped that.
Which reminds me of something else that Nvidia dropped. 3DVision. Is the 980ti the last card to support that? It's really sad that it was dropped so hard. It had great potential. Especially now that stupid fast monitors are the norm now.
not super knowledgeable about that sort of thing, but I don't think you can just "patch" in hardware.
but even if they could just patch it in, why would they? consume product and get ready to consume next product.
.... oh I just looked into it. It's the CUDA Cores. Fuck. I wonder what else that will effect. There's probably other software besides games that used that too. I had no idea.
It can possibly be hacked with a wrapper, but don't hold your breath. There's older 32-bit CUDA applications besides PhysX games, but most still in use have switched to 64 anyway.
It is one of those things that you can add in an older graphics card just for those CUDA cores. So if you have a large enough desktop with a free PCIE slot you can get that functionality back if you needed it.
Affected games:
Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Crazy Machines 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Warmonger: Operation Downtown Destruction, Hot Dance Party, QQ Dance, Hot Dance Party II, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason, Mirror’s Edge, Armageddon Riders, Darkest of Days, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Sacred 2: Ice & Blood, Shattered Horizon, Star Trek DAC, Metro 2033, Dark Void, Blur, Mafia II, Hydrophobia: Prophecy, Jianxia 3, Alice: Madness Returns, MStar, Batman: Arkham City, 7554, Depth Hunter, Deep Black, Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage, The Secret World, Continent of the Ninth (C9), Borderlands 2, Passion Leads Army, QQ Dance 2, Star Trek, Mars: War Logs, Metro: Last Light, Rise of the Triad, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Of the games on this list that are actually worth playing, the only one I've tested that doesn't play well is Mirror's Edge. Arkham Games, Metro, and Black Flag seem relatively unaffected.
Just upgrade. It's been 10 years.
Which Metro 2033 did you test though? I would think the OG would be pretty heavily effected.
mirrors edge tanks the fps when you break a window anon.
I still have plenty of old games to play this GPU can run just fine.
Ah I see you said that, my bad.
1. the list of 32bit physx games is fucking nothing and some of the funniest poorfag cope imaginable
2. it's 2025, playing at 1080p and thinking 60fps is acceptable is literally subhuman tier
get a fucking job, op. 1080ti was a legendary card but it's time to put it to rest for fucks sake.
what if it breaks?
thats a good thing though. why should developers cater to people with a decade old cards. times have to move on eventually.
Granted it won't last as long as my S3 and Cirrus cards if he doesn't abuse it and keeps track of heat it should last a while.
this is the worst time to buy a new card.
Nvidia doesn't give half a fuck about selling cards to gamers anymore, so I don't care about buying from them.
Last Light seemed more affected than 2033, but neither performed poorly.
Yea.
Metro Exodus RTX version
yes prices are bad but if you can't afford $500-1000 every 2 gpu gens depending on your standards, you should really find a way out of the favela
who am i kidding, you don't have standards, you're playing at 1080p and happy with sub 60fps on low settings in fucking 205
anon fucking look.
youtube.com
The game doesn't even need raytracing to play, IF you use linux and AMD.
So theoretically, couldn't the devs have just flipped a few bits and made the game play for everyone with an older card?
If that's the case, this wasn't about "pushing the limits" of anything. it was preventing everyone else from even playing it.
I can afford it, but there's never anything worth doing the upgrade.
I am playing on a 1080 because 24 inches a few feet from my face is enough, and a 50 inch 4k in the other port is also enough.
and 144hz, not 60. That depends on the game though.
spoken like a true consoomer
brown language in the title
not watching that video, sorry.
it's called having white skin, you should try it sometime. we have standards.
the only thing I'll add to this. When HL3 comes out I might have a real reason to upgrade, and will.
Until then I don't want to play the doom game everyone seems to hate, or the jew 33 game that is being astroturfed.
I just built 2 new computers recently but they were budget builds to sell if the tariffs actually kicked on.
someone else posted it first, and you can suck a nig dick.
(((white)))
You need hardware with drivers. It's not up the devs.
you realize that having a good gpu benefits every game in existence, right? you are still playing 10 year old games at a pathetic resolution and framerate, even if you can run them.
you are a spiritual consolefag and should just get a ps5.
ayo wyte pepo we finna get dat ps5, dem spinnin rims, dat new chainz, dat 5090!. yeeeeee boiiiiieeeeee.
nah.
whatever helps you sleep at night. i'll keep enjoying my games at 4k 120+ fps on my OLED while you cope like the broke bitch you are
go play capeshit 7 and cawadoody9 faggot. didn't ask.
There's a game called "the midnight walk" that came out recently, Since they 3d scanned everything the graphics look incredible. Runs on a fucking rx580 in vr even. Have yet to see any AAA game pull off textures and graphics that look that good.
well you sure fucking enjoy posting on Anon Babble on it so I guess you showed me huh?
nice try but i haven't touched a westoid game in years, faggot. very telling that you shill a western game in your post though, lmao. implying only AAA benefits from a good gpu is hilarious cope.
have fun wondering whether you can run a game and turning your settings to low, i'll be maxing mine out without a second thought
shill a western game
pretty sure the indie game I mentioned was made in europe but whatever retard.
Europe is in the west, dipshit
Kek. OP btfo
ok go play wukong, dogbreath.
I have the 1080 ti. I was looking to upgrade it 'for free' to the 3060 ti since it has better benchmarks. But I keep seeing the 3gb vram increase of the 1080 ti is actually really important nowadays
9060 16gb
that shit is gonna be 500 euro in my country
