There really haven't been many graphically demanding games worth playing that have released in the last few years. You can run most indies on a toaster. The most graphically intense things I've played in the last three years are Nier, Deep Rock Galactic, and Palworld and even then those are only a little heavy because they're unoptimized. You'll probably be fine just playing older stuff and indies. Upgrades aren't worth the money anymore.

Not him but vram in games are mostly being used to store textures. The only games that require are lot of it are literal aaa slops. They will also be mostly unoptimized. On average, 8GB will take you from 5 to 10 years before it actually hinders you. Even 6GB can take you there if you lower the texture size.
