Most modern people are just that retarded. They don't use simple process of elimination or mild deduction skills, something paleolithic subhumans could do when hunting smilodons for lunch. tbf if I was testing a game, I'd get the dumbest people possible too because that would give me some insight I wouldn't have thought of previously.

Limb chopping is not universal. For Divider, you must shoot its head. For Lurkers, you must shoot its body because the tentacles can grow back infinitely no matter how much you cut them. Head cutting can be quite useful when you are low on resources because it makes the necromorph disoriented and you can just run away. Some high tier necros have yellow tissues as weakpoint ( original yellow paint right there ), you must shoot that.

In a way, yes. Necromorph tissues don't die, they never stop mutating unless you destroy the Marker. The dismembered limbs can very likely transform into something else.
