It's ok. After initial hype I played demo and it was good. I've learned that they actually don't sell physical on relase in my cunt, so I bought it on sale physical after a while. After initial multi hour spin (Finished dragon country part, 70% of elves and a few missions in the bastoria for a cute archer) I just don't feel like playing that much.
I still want muramasa with dlc. One of my favorite games despite simplicity. Also too bad my favorite character (pic) didn't get extra love from Vanillaware.

People don't play them because they hardly get made. Me and my friends love couch coop games but they've become rare.

I think multi player use auto bots to fill a room which are the same as AI allies so it doesn't really matter. The game is pretty much a ghost town last I played it and it has cross play with PS3/PS4 and PSVita.

If they're done right they can be addictive in their own right. They have many variables and routes you can take. In Princess Maker 2 you can make her a beast in combat, magic or even into a prostitute. That game was made by Gainax of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame.

SOR4 is perfect as it is, my only complaint is that its a bit long for a single sitting. If you haven't got the DLC with the survival mode you really should. Unlocking more moves and customizing each character is so fucking cool, not to mention you get color palattes and a few more characters to play with (Roo is a secret character, you have to use a code at the main menu to get him)

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game. It's quite fun but it's still nothing compared to SoR 1-3 in anyway, shape or form outside of a few characters being used and even then the gameplay didn't work with them

Most of it is based around trying to keep the hit counter up to get the best score which isn't a bad thing but it's the opposite of how SoR always was

The devs openly said they were just making their own beat 'em up but couldn't get a publisher so tried making a SoR one and it worked but it was a different engine for a different game

I think the issue is primarily that due to air time being a thing, most enemies tend to play less logically and so do players in terms of strategy. Like 80% of the levels can be just done with spamming your blitz. And the balance is way off to the pont that the black with the robot arms is able to fucking range grab enemies. Cherry isn't as bad but I'd say estel is the worse, worse than Shiva since she literally just spams boot mark and it carries you in almost every stage
