Madhouse anime was good as far as story went, part of that was probably cause they had Bingo on the team, but it was the action that really lacked, so maybe with a bigger budget it would hit all the right spots. The DMC anime had the main problem of trying to be more supernatural noir and not having enough wacky wahoo pizza man slaughtering demons. It's trying to reconcile DMC3 and DMC1's Dantes, for better or worse.
DMC Netflix has the main problem of just ramming as much superficial elements, e.g. episode 3 where they just jam in as many DMC monsters from 3, 4 and 5 as possible, but otherwise having disdain for anything from the source material that isn't pulled from a youtube compilation of dante's funniest moments.

Devil May Cry the game is inherently goofy, it's trying too hard to be cool but that's its appeal, simultaneously freewheeling and melancholy. Per Kamiya it's meant to be deliberatily evocative of cavalier manga heroes like Space Adventure Cobra.

"Even when Cobra fights, he has a little smile on his face, it is cool. But, sometimes Cobra makes a serious face and it makes tension for the readers.
