Series S/X

Is it worth it buying one?
Is the game pass a good deal, as they say?

Yes

I got it as a forza box. Snowrunner too, both are gamepass. It's a cheap gamepass machine and great at that.

Cool. Thanks bros

Also unironically a good emulation machine. Forgot to add

Series S is garbage. Either get a series X or don't bother. It's a good console in general, but games coming out in recent years struggle somewhat on it. Gamepass is a good deal IF you buy cheap codes or gameshare with somebody. I think gamepass is $20 a month right now, which is honestly pretty shit when it used to be $10. You can use the microsoft rewards bot to earn gamepass for free, but it doesn't always work and is a bitch to set up if you're tech illiterate. If you can get gamepass cheap, then it's very worth.

GamePass

Gamepass is shovelware central

the few good games are average at best

also multiplat by default

only worthwhile games are backwards compat games and not even the full library but a handful of old titles

Also old as fuck by now games that leave the platform due licensing

Ofc not, you'd be retarded to buy one for more than $10

Seething snoy lol

muh snoy

it's like a headless chicken running lmao

Depends on your TV. If you have a smaller lower res TV (like, 32 in 1080p or smaller) that you were using with a PS4 or Xbone S, yes. If you have a giant 4K TV, no.
I bought a small 23.6 in 768p TV and a Series S earlier this month. I use 1280x720 with black borders and Series S games look amazing on it.

As for Game Pass, yes it's an excellent deal if you're into subscription services. Personally I'd rather buy games but I'm aware that the average person loves subscriptionslop like Netflix and whatnot, so a subscription that gives you access to hundreds of games should be great for those people.

And yes, the price of the console is unmatched. At least in my country, anyway. I bought the Series S for 270 euro. For comparison, the Switch 2 is 470 euro and the PS5 Digital is 500 euro.

I think gamepass is $20 a month right now

Yes, I just looked yesterday. I get it every few months to play some games, but it's starting to feel more and more like it's not worth it. As the other anon said, it's shovelware central. There are a few good games here or there, but I'm finding it's better just to get a handful of games on sale instead of getting gamepass. There are a lot of Walking Simulators and "rogue-like Earthbound inspired indie deckbuilders".

I love mine, and Spencer has said there isn't going to be a mid-gen refresh on it (Like PS5 Pro) so it's probably safe to buy one. But, I who knows? These people tend to change their minds all the time. A few months before (pic), there was a supposed leak about hardware refreshes for the X/S codenamed Brooklin and Ellewood. Not sure whatever happened with that. But seeing as that leak was a year ago with no followup, it's probably not real.

One thing I will say, though, is that Microsoft is probably not going to fuck you over like Nintendo does by making you pay full price the same game you already own on an upgraded console. So it's probably okay to buy it this late in the generation if you wanted one, since the games would carry over fluidly to whatever they make next.

just get gamepass on pc if you have a decent one

Is it worth it buying one?

i love my series X

Is the game pass a good deal, as they say?

yes. Especially because you can buy codes on ebay for $10.

my xbox is pretty comfy, and it runs all the xbox one games basically natively. It's missing some games the ps5 which hurts, but the back compat makes up for it.

the state of PC gaming is such horseshit. games run like shit and GPUS are overpriced as fuck.

Can't you get banned for that? They keep nuking the hosts of the software you need for that

Or both. Being able to play a game on the couch, have progress automatically cloud saved, then load up the same save and play it from your desk instead (e.g., kids come home and want the living room) is a nice perk.

There is no best console. You gotta pick which one suits you and ignore the shills and the console wars and brand cultists. MS, PS, and Nintendo all have their benefits.

The main reason I bought an Xbox instead of PS5 is because of how it pairs with PC. IE: most of the games you actually want to buy, will give you both a PC and an Xbox copy for a single purchase. So you don't have to buy it on console then on steam. Buying it from MS gives you both for $60.

On the other hand, PS5 is guaranteed to get games sooner than Xbox in most cases, unless it comes from a MS-owned studio. Genshin impact and pretty much every Final Fantasy game (including XIV) come to mind. PS5 also has a better Japanese catalog. Xbox has the personas and yukazas and such, but not nearly as many nip games as PS5.

Nintendo isn't even in competition with PC/Xbox/PS because its offerings are so unique. For a price. Apples and oranges.

You can get Ninja Gaiden Black and 2 on it, so why not.

Genshin impact and pretty much every Final Fantasy game (including XIV) come to mind.

I should clarify this. I mentioned those games because PS got them 2+ years before Xbox. Death Stranding, as well. Just remembered that.

No? Just get a xbox dev account for twenty dollarydoos and you can download some exceptionally good and customizable emulators.

I genuinely feel Xbox could be more successful (albeit still in 3rd place lol) if they changed their image to something like the OG Xbox. Powering up your console should feel like powering up a nuclear reactor. The whole vibe of the console and first party games should be edgy, fun, irreverent.
Xbox's current vibe is extremely corporate and sterile, I think that's just not very interesting. But I guess it's necessary with all the DEI policies internally, no fun allowed. Hell, I'm pretty sure the Xbox code name internally was "manhattan", as in the manhattan project, since they planned to "nuke" the jap game industry. No way anything like that would fly nowadays lol.

I know people will say that exclusives are Xbox's biggest problem right now. But I'd argue the brand's image is more important. That and the fact that "Series S and X" are ridiculously bad names (who the hell thought that would be a good idea?)

Isn't just better to change region and buy it from there?
A friend changed hid Xbox region to Japan and it's like 10 bucks cheaper.

Whatever works, man

Xbox's current vibe is extremely corporate and sterile, I think that's just not very interesting.

Sorry, I'm gonna have to disagree a bit. Xbox feels like an adult-oriented console. That's the image I get. The console itself looks sophisticated under the TV, unlike the PS which looks like a child's toy. The UI is sleek without unnecessary clutter. I don't want or need a console that constantly reminds screams "Lol look at this faggot, he's 30 years old and immersed in a child's hobby." or a console that a girl sees in my living room and causes her pussy to dry up like it just got wetvacc'd.

A non toxic videogame thread on my Anon Babble?
Holy shit!

Never was worth it; you just got played like a fiddle due the low cost. Now they can raise it at will and take your money if you're fallen under the service's iron grip. GP is only good at $1 but MS is blocking that now it served its purpose

Microsoft is probably not going to fuck you over like Nintendo does by making you pay full price the same game

lol lmao this implies microsoft games have any value

I know people will say that exclusives are Xbox's biggest problem right now. But I'd argue the brand's image is more important.

Save it. This has been solved for years and the solutions are obvious; but ms doesn't care in the slightest so won't improve.

Nothing screams "inmature" more than a grown up caring about what other people thinks

I'm reading switching region to Turkey puts it at $1.50

I have no idea why the old emulation guides for Xbox S involved downloading some shitty pirate software that would get you banned from xbox live. Wish I knew of this method.

Complete opposite. Only edgy highschoolers run around talking about how they don't care what other people think. Your reputation matters and the opinion/respect of others affects careers, relationships, everything. Go wash your fucking hair and put on a nice shirt, toddler. The difference when actually participating in society is instantly perceivable. Saying no one else's opinion matters only applies if you don't actually see anyone else ver.

Is it worth it buying one?

Fuck no, I would rather buy a Steam Deck instead. Yea the specs are probably worse but at least you'll get to grow your library on a non-shit platform. One thing I'm glad I did after switching from the 360 to PC was not bothering with any consoles at all.

Stupid abstract metrics below money's arbitrary worth.

participating in society

Stockholm syndrome if you don't begin niggering out at 20 yo

Be careful with that, xbox took notice about Argie and Turk IPs taking advantage from regional pricing

Only edgy highschoolers run around talking about how they don't care what other people think

says a "grown up" trying to convince other his electronic toys below his tv doesn't look like an electronic toys because he doesn't want to

Played like a fiddle? What are you talking about? I would spend $15 to get Gold with Gamepass for a single month and then just not renew it after playing a few games. They can raise the price all they'd fucking like, I don't have to keep getting it. It just gives access to a library of a few hundred games to test play for a month that you'd never otherwise play. You're not locked into a contract or anything.

service's iron grip

wut

he main reason I bought an Xbox instead of PS5 is because of how it pairs with PC.

i was actually surprised to see how many xbox games I bought come with a PC version. GOAT

Played like a fiddle? What are you talking about?

You know how services operate, or at least you should if you're going to talk about them

Gamepass is objectively good value, but it's still just a subscription service at the end of the day. Also, PS Plus Extra and Premium offer similar value

buy gamepass ultimate for one month

it's $15

they have some fun games to test play

don't get it again for a few months

they release some new games you want to try out

pay $15 for another month to test play

a few months go by, and you look to see if it's worth getting again

X-Box raised the price per month

game selection isn't as good as it was

don't get gamepass again

"YOU GOT PLAYED LIKE A FIDDLE AND DON'T KNOW HOW GAMEPASS WORKS!"

okay

If decided to buy a console again it probably would be this. Value is good for the price and I've been all digital for a while anyway with games.

Cancel it right now, it should be a no brainer if you haven't fall into services' iron grip. A second of doubt means you're falling into it. Then open a new account for the free trial

paying for glorified test plays

JUST

Cancel it right now

I only get it for a single month, every few months. That's it. That's all Gamepass is good for. Every few months I get Gamepass to play some interesting looking games that I don't want to buy. After 30 days I DO NOT RENEW. Then I wait a few months for them to add some new games to their catalog. I'll check it out and see if I want to get it again for a single month. This month was I was thinking about getting it...for a single month. HOWEVER, they raised the price to $20, and there isn't any good games. So I didn't get it, and I won't get it. I haven't had Gamepass in six months. I don't know why people don't understand that you don't have to get Gamepass for a whole year. Just get it for a month to test out some games and don't renew it.

I don't know why people don't understand that you don't have to get Gamepass for a whole year

It's the same people who also think you can't buy the games you play on gamepass and that it's only a rental thing. I do the same thing you do. I sub for a month if there's anything I'm that interested it that month, turn off recurring payments, and then when the month is up I don't pay anything again unless another game catches my interest enough to drop another $12 (I do PC gamepass, not Ultimate).

I only get it for a single month, every few months. That's it. That's all Gamepass is good for.

You seem to get it right, but I'm not seeing it worth beyond a trial period every 6 months at least.

Sadly it isn't designed for that and most of people as majority aren't going to operate under logic and they'll renew it and become dependant of it

they raised the price to $20, and there isn't any good games

Part of the plan specific to GP; its better years were at the start for obvious reasons

A lot of the times the games are on sale as well.

You seem to get it right, but I'm not seeing it worth beyond a trial period every 6 months at least.

You're right, it's not. I used to enjoy getting it for a single month every few months. They have a lot of games on there, and I play a shit ton to see if any are good. Ones that I like I'll buy, like Project Wingman. I checked it out yesterday because I was thinking of getting it again and noticed they raised the price. Didn't want to get it, didn't see any games that I was interested in playing.

A lot of the times the games are on sale as well.

locking out discounts behind gamepass

you can always trust ms to bring cancer into gaming. I guess I'll wait to christmas or the next big sale then
