Was it good?

I can't think of a ratchet and clank worse than the 2016 reboot

Fpbp, reboot fucked everything after it too

Secret agent clank
Size matters
Quest for Booty
Full Frontal Assault
Going Mobile
The PS3 ports, especially deadlocked

Anyway OP I think tools is actually pretty good, not perfect but good

Was it good?

yes

Was it better than the 2016 reboot?

yes

turn off motion controls, they actively work against you during skydiving segments

Main titles? Only size matters. Any spin-off? Then Secret agent clank too

All games post deadlocked sucked. Only Crack in Time was passable

It was better than the 2016 trashboot, but it was also basically a tech demo for the PS3 release and the beginning of the end for chad ratchet.

It was the first in the series that I played, so I hope so.

I loved it, it is indeed better than 2016. A lot of fun to have with this game, honestly.

My first game was Size Matters and I was so fucking disappointed that none of the games in the trilogy had the awesome armor system.

Talwyn sexo

Its decent, ACiT is the real motherfucker.
Its the best in the series, i like it more than the ps2 trilogy.

2016 was the worst game in the franchise

ACiT is the real motherfucker

This. They wanted it to be the best game in the franchise and they did it, it hasn't been surpassed yet. Rift apart tried too but it's just not on the same level... Rivet is really sexy though

rift apart was fucking horrible, wtf.
rivet was annoying and so was kat and garry.
shit ass game that just looks pretty.

I always want to say that the gameplay is fun, but how does that help when it's something you just cant fuck up anymore after 2 established it? It really is just an inferior way to tell R&C 1, at that point, I would rather have a remake.

Tools of Destruction is fun and has a lot of great levels but it probably has the most boring story and characters in the series. It really brings the game down and I see why most people lose interest in it.

It has better level design than Up Your Arsenal

ToD improved upon 3 a lot, it had the same formula of having only some levels with exploration and the rest being linear but did it better because the amount of levels you can explore is bigger and are really enjoyable. The hacking minigame is marginally better than 3's, still bad, but the ship sections make a comeback and are better than 2's. I enjoyed those a lot, the guns have a nice balance between wacky and grounded, like 2. And even if the story isn't all that interesting, I'd say that it is if you are playing it for the first time. Genocide was a cool theme to tackle kek

It's ok

It's not better than PS2 games but the closest to being that
Rift Apart is trash

What did you like about Rift apart aside from the lombax pussy?

Its always that, these retards only say they like that pos because of that shitty female character.
the game is fucking trash, kat is INSUFFERABLE, garry is insufferable, rivet is boring as fuck, none of the planets stand out, the story is shit.

Pretty much all of this. I hate furries

Just remind them that Rivet is permanently tainted by Sam Maggs and she'll never have breasts above AAA cup outside of cope-fueled fanart. It's like garlic to vampires.

Why did Ratchet get shorter after deadlocked?

I mean the character btw, he was taller in deadlocked I think

Crazy to think that motherfuckers simp that shitty ass character that was written by that fucking whore.
Alister was a far more likable character than rivet.

Talwyn too

Best parts about ToD were the helicopter drone and the claw weapon (though that came with the downside of showing off how out of its depth the omniwrench is at this point in the series), everything else was fairly forgettable.
RaC Future was the beginning of boy scout Ratchet, so even if the reboot was ages worse the decline started here.

Also Metropolis being relegated to a cinematic sequence with barely any gameplay was such a disappointment

IIRC Ratchet was taller in Deadlocked to begin with. He's not a big guy

That's what I mean, sorry if I made it confusing.
They made Ratchet a bit taller than usual in deadlocked but they made him short for Tools of Destruction again. Why?

Could be any number of things, desu. Deadlocked has a grittier tone than the other games and Ratchet's armor really emphasises his shoulders and narrows his waist, giving him a more adult body. Could be they tweaked him a bit so that he'd fit in better visually, to look stronger, or maybe they toyed with the idea of him growing up throughout the games. My guess is as good as yours.

The hacking missions don't get enough shit in that game. They go on too long and the little hacker robot is the most insufferable cunt in this entire franchise

the little hacker robot is the most insufferable cunt in this entire franchise

Worse than Zurkon?

Yes. Much worse. Talks throughout the entirety of every single hacker mission with just inane chatter about how nervous she is but she's totally gonna do it

Maybe they didn't enjoy the darker side of the franchise that much and therefore went back to the classic design so it would fit the jolly universe they offered again. Qwark came back and stuff to let people know they were still Ratchet and clank and not just Ratchet.
Would have enjoyed seeing tall Ratchet anyway.

Got a better take Rivet tainted these threads. Now every obnoxious idiot spams this unattractive character. Some midget with no assets and an amputee fetish. And Rivet's personality is terrible. Don't like her and the worst thing about Rivet is that its clear Insomniac wants to make her a central character for the whole franchise. I hope that Rivet leads to Insomniac dying.

Talwyn was a shitty ass character, WTF you on? All she did was nag you to stay in ItN. She had like 5 min of screen-time total

California writing

what the fuck bros I didn't know that Rift Apart was canon, I thought it was part of the shitty reboot. Is it worth playing? I may buy it

Tbf, she was in 2/3 of the future games quite a bit. ItN was just an epilogue of the series, it was cool just to see they brought back characters.
Rift apart is low on the list, but nothing is worse than the remake and I hope to god it stays that way. It was stupid and complete shit. Controls may have been new but in the setting they're not enough to make me like it.

It’s a lot of fun, but the writing is flat and the writing is the weakest part of the game. I kinda liked Rivet though. Angela remains my favorite.

It's kind of in the reboot timeline. At the very least it's written like part of it. Same retardation

I skipped them the first time I played it and never looked back. I did the Clank sections just fine but that spider was annoying as fuck and almost made me quit.
It's kind of worth it because of the R&C bits, but be ready for female R&C to shit it up. It's cool seeing the guys on PS5, and you get some nice customization.

Like I said, she only exists to give mission exposition and to nag you. They completely forgot the plot-line with her dad. Never really cared about her anyways.

They're absolute shit writers

Remember that one line they shoved in ACIT where they said "uuuh... Angela... escaped the galaxy... with Talwyn's dad.."? Literally just picking whatever elements and characters and mashing them together for the sake of it.

Here is my assessment of the series after playing through it over a period of ~3 months a while back.

R&C

Good. A bit clunky and janky, but still pretty fun to play. Fun story with good humor. Best RYNO in the series.

GC

Amazing. The leap in quality from a simple strafe lock mechanic is incredible. Absolute blast from start to finish with only a few minor gripes. Best played on an emulator where you can rebind jump to L1 and shoot to R1 to avoid the claw grip. Story kinda sucked but had funny moments.

UYA

It's hard for me to choose between UYA and GC when it comes to which is the better game. UYA has the benefit of having the most refined controls, but I found some of the missions kinda lacking and boring due to reuse of multiplayer maps. Still a fucking fantastic ride from start to finish. Best story in the series when it comes to humor.

Deadlocked

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but this is my favorite game in the series. Part of it is bias because it was the only game I played as a kid, but even upon a recent replay, it's still my favorite. The shooting, the weapon mod system, the mobbing, the maps, everything was perfected in this game in my opinion. Lacking platforming is a bit of a shame, but god fucking damn did the shooting make up for it in my opinion. There are some missions that are clunkers for sure, but this is the game I've replayed the most.

ToD

It's good. Great, even. But it's lacking a certain something that made it feel a bit underwhelming for me. It plays it a bit too safe, in my opinion. Still absolutely worth playing.

CiT

I am one of those people who sucks this game's dick. The story truly is a brilliant experience if you've played the series starting with the first game. Controls were perfected here, in my opinion. It has the cracks of an unfinished game, complete with half-baked side activities and features. But man, the story really carries this title a ton. I hold it right under Deadlocked, just a smidge above UYA and GC

Deadlocked is pretty fucking awesome. Not my favorite (probably would be 1 for the better worlds and the Metroidvania aspects, or maybe 3) but very solid.

ToD is kinda soulless and cold. I can't really remember planets from it.
CiT is very solid and a great time. It's the only time they nailed this weird "larger story with stakes!!" shit they went for. Still kinda stupid and full of retcons but executed as best as possible.

Good summary, bro. You still gotta play into the nexus.

Oh, and I didn't play Pirate's Booty because it crashes on RPCS3. I also didn't play any of the spin offs or the movie game.

Nexus

Has the best opening in the series, in my opinion. But from there, it's just kinda run of the mill. Has a lot of interesting ideas, but it was way too short to really flesh anything out. Still worth playing, in my opinion.

Rift Apart

I actually really enjoyed it. It just about met my expectations. I was surprised how much I liked the DS5 features when it came to how it reacts to different weapons, which made me glad I decided to go DS5 for a PC controller. The dodge mechanic made combat feel very different from the other games. I noticed enemies were a lot faster and smarter to compensate, and the result was a pretty fast paced, twitchy arcade shooter. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and am excited for whatever they have for the future of the series.

Still kinda stupid and full of retcons but executed as best as possible

I wouldn't mind the "Ratchet is the only Lombax left" angle if they didn't also go and make the duo the two most important people in the universe ever destined to meet and save it. Feels like too much.
I feel R&C1's story being about just a guy that happened to find a robot and that robot being the thing that made the difference because he wasn't blinded by the cynicism that plagued the galaxy is much more engrossing.

You're right, one of the retcons is Clank also being the chosen one, another retcon is Tachyon being endorsed by Azimuth and stuff. All kinds of dumb stuff

I feel R&C1's story being about just a guy that happened to find a robot and that robot being the thing that made the difference because he wasn't blinded by the cynicism that plagued the galaxy is much more engrossing.

Yep. All before they had "writing teams" and "professional writers". R&C1 is actually pretty fucking good in that regard, way more than a lot of the slop we eat nowadays. RA just can't come close.

I did them all and I regret it. I still think it's retarded to just let you skip chunks of the game

It's yet another continuation of the lost lombaxes plot and no it doesn't actually conclude it

Fuck this retarded cliffhanger

I think it's funny that the game tries to make Ratchet meeting Rivet this huge deal despite the fact that he's met two other lombaxes before this point

Azimuth has been memoryholed and Angela soft retconned

The writers are hacks shilling their OC

Yes I know

To think they created best girl in the second installment and they've been trying to pretend she never existed ever since.

Why does Drek need a planet destroying device to get rid of Veldin?

Using highly sophisticated technology, which you couldn't possibly understand, we will be extracting a large portion of your planet and adding it to our new one.

Unfortunately, this change in mass will cause your planet to spin out of control and drift into the sun where it will explode into a flaming ball of gas, but, of course, sacrifices must be made.

What the fuck...

wtf.png - 640x640, 70.79K

the only correct answer.

t. just replayed the series

This sucks she was supposed to be mine

She was fired before she made that tweet bee tea dubs

I like Sasha more

I hope that Rivet leads to Insomniac dying.

I think they're gonna be stuck in the licensed Marvel game mines for a long-ass time

My daughter tells me you're a man who's good with his hands

She was literally booted from the studio for being such an obtrusive twat lol
