Star Fox needs two things: someone with clout at Nintendo that wants to make a new game for it and a studio that's willing to develop it. I don't think the franchise has either of those requirements right now.

They team up with Monolith and the TotK team and make a pseudo MMORPG with clans and dogfights. Imagine owning your own capital ship and owning a planet or an asteroid belt or something and having to hold it off from other players as a clan, or like being freelance and doing jobs, or like working for the military and having to defend your planet from player clans and Andross.

I'm less enthused on centering it on multiplayer but a game actually based on doing spacefighter mercenary work sounds great

Starfox is an arcade game at heart, and I don't think Nintendo has what it takes to make those anymore. Instead you will get an 8-10 hour shit story no one cares about.

I'm hoping for a push, but I don't think it'll happen unfortunately.
My hope is Retro Studios gives it a go. Or maybe MercurySteam, given that they're actually a good developer.
To be honest though, I think that Star Fox's sales numbers have been declining too far for Nintendo to dump much money into it. It hurts, but I think Star Fox is relegated to smash and porn.

It's very good, a testament to the fans who are willing to put in this much effort to create a fan work. I feel like it's a weird coincidence that nintendo games had such a collective cultural impact that results in these things being created nowadays. My past of passing star fox 64 between my friends and beating their high scores and getting beaten myself and so on was a highly memorable part of my youth. I love that the games are still beloved to this day.

you have the fact that the hardware cannot even run either game. In fact I doubt Nintendo even has them, they probably have no idea how they were made nor how to reverse engineer them. One was worked on by Rare, which we know they can't equate to. The other by Namco, which they also can't equate too. Same goes for FZero GX. These titles are like NASA and the lost moon landing technology to Nintendo.
