Pretentious armchairs on Anon Babble are quick to pretend like they know what an engine is or what it's capable of because they saw cherrypicked screenshots on image boards of badly optimized games or because a youtuber made a 10 minute video explaining one aspect of the software.
This and RE Engine get shit on but they're perfectly good engines. Game just aren't optimized properly.

I actually managed to get Oblivion running okay on my 2070 Super. I didn't really expect it to do any UE5 game at 60+. There's a lot to hate, but I honestly have to wonder if it's other toasterfags like myself complaining the most.

I don't get it either. 95% of the time any issues are solved by spending less that 2 minutes tweaking settings. That 5% 9f exceptions are usually because the devs were ass, not because the engine was.

It's the Godot of engines and Godot is the Unity of engines. There's at least two layers of shit to wade through for a bloated game.
Shader cache stutters, horrible sharpening and traversal stutters.
You can argue none of this is impossible to get around because of two or three out of hundreds of games, but in other engines none or some of this doesn't even need "getting around" so it's still a problem with the engine.
It's full of anti soul features like anti soul fog, anti soul lighting, anti soul optimization, anti soul file size. It's fucking ridiculous. They need to be shot on the street for shilling this garbage but we all know that Epic have their hands everywhere espeicall iwth the jweish sponosrship that keep them alfloat for so long. Fuck them.
File size bloat really is wild. No other remaster increased its size by 25 fucking times.

every game on it runs like ass. the WRC games changed hands from KT to Codemasters and the first thing they did was drop the engine they used in Dirt Rally 2 and went with UE5. I would get a LOCKED solid 90 FPS in VR with the old ego engine. The new game had no VR support for a long time and when we finally got it, it was - no surprise - stuttery shit. They abandoned a perfectly good engine for a meme.

they're pushing ray/pathtracing because hardware makers are pushing ray/pathtracing even though nobody fucking wants it because "realistic" =/= fun. They're making ai upscaling required so 4k textures are meaningless but also raytracing looks like shit without genuine 4k textures. The industry is going to weird-fuck everything until everything looks like an anime game where cell-shading just doesn't give a shit.

Pidgeon holes dev studios into making the exact same looking thing. Deferred rendering, buy assets from UE store. All rook the same, all play the same, all have the same performance issues.
Basically when a game is in UE it screams like "yeah we're 150 artists and 5 programmers and game designers and this shit is designed to make money"

The funny thing is that the people who defend those issues will always say "it's not impossible to solve, the devs are incompetent."
Then why are the Epic devs not solving it engine-wide? Why are the default tools such fucking garbage? Why is everyone but the company that profits from the engine being used responsible for it being trash?
I'll add on that it didn't have the same stigma in 2018 when DLSS and other temporal slop techniques were not pushed so hard. Basically it's a symbiotic relationship between Jewvidias and Unreal that led us to this shit we're stuck in here now.
You take a look at titles running on UE 4.2X versions and you've got a much wider range of art styles and graphics techniques.
I dunno The Finals use UE5 too and it works flawlessly. I think it's not an engine problem but an incompetent developer problem.

I don't know the arc of the complaint on Anon Babble itself but for my case its because i can just fucking recognize it immediately and its everywhere. Especially if they don't do anything much at all with the default UI. You dont even have to be paying attention and immediately realize, oh, this is a Unreal's UI

Every dev sucks EXCEPT the UE5 devs. Why? Couldn't it be the very few games without those issues going above and beyond to solve problems that shouldn't be there? Why does everyone assume UE5 is flawless just because a minority of games work?
FFXIII ran pretty well on the PS3 and people still shit on the Crystal Tools, including Square-Enix themselves. Someone being able to fix up the mess to ship a working project doesn't make it not a mess.
