A hacked Wii was amazing to have in college from 2011-2015, especially with friends for easy GCN backup loading and Project M. PM may have been born from competitivefag autism, but it was genuinely fun as a casual game too, especially in the state official Smash was in. PM started making certain characters more viable and true to their source material (beating official Smash to the punch on a lot of counts), and introducing alt costumes to characters besides Wario (also before official Smash). All my non-competitive friends loved playing it too.

yup, that was me. i also had a used ps2 before xbox. i loved the wii, i still do, and it's a shame that we STILL don't have a good refresh/update to wii sports and resort. however, i realized even then that the wii was fairly underpowered and not meant for anything serious or remotely competitive. it's a fun console and it had some really great games, but its control scheme made entire genres like FPS completely unplayable, along with very lackluster online.
