I am really sad for what American videogame publishers did to all Canadian videogame studios they bought. America pretty much killed all the great Canadian videogame developers. I hope Trump widens the rift between Europe and the USA so European developers don't suffer the same fate(sadly there were already a few victims destroyed by American corporations).

All of them except Canada got the first-mover advantage: entered the market early as pioneers and staked out their claims. Any latecomers naturally face difficulty to compete with the established "old money" of gaming, because they don't have the same resources, infrastructure, experience, public support etc to draw on.
