Do you think Square Enix is envious of Expedition 33's success?

Do you think Square Enix is envious of Expedition 33's success?

Nope

the only recent number i can recall from ff was xvi's 3 million shipped, i don't remember them even bothering with any counts for rebirth
33 is still sitting on 1 million last i recall
i think the only thing they would really be jealous of at this point is the overall positive reception to the game

Expedition 33

Is this game even "known" in Japan?

No, Expedition 33 is going to sell 2 or 3 millions then be forgotten. There are too many things that put off normalfags about it. Square is owning juggernaut IPs and is aiming for 10M lifetime sales across multiple platforms, editions and re-rereleases. Also to everyone claiming that Expedition 33 was a slap in the face for Japanese developers in regards to turn based, Square never stopped making turn based games, it's just that Final Fantasy was always an experimental series that tried to innovate with every new game and drifted more and more towards action as this is what normalfags and overseas players prefer.

But I think Square did notice the critical reception and will be more open to greenlight ambitious turn based projects in the future, but it's not gonna impact the future of Final Fantasy.

Buy and ad, squarejeet tranny

Yeah

Who cares what Squeenix thinks?
Expeditioners won bigly

Ubisoft most certainly is

ubishit is definitely having a meltdown right now

Between baulders gate and this. They need to realize turn based games are not dead. You put out a quality product, people will buy it regardless.

Ex Ubisoft devs make an actual FF game that is GOTY worthy while Square turns FF7 into Ubislop

The memes write themselves

Yep, in both Japan and China

No but they probably feel dumb for thinking you can't have an overworld when the graphics are too realistic, just for E33 to do it anyway

Remind me who's developer and publisher of pic related? Who's pumping all those remasters for those classic turn based JRPGs ? Who has recently announced Xenogears and Parasite Eve HD? What was that little game everyone went crazy for last year? Meta-something it was called? What genre was that again?

1583791.jpg - 7680x4320, 3.43M

The biggest playerbase of this game on steam is Chinese, what the fuck

FF is dead to me, who cares what Yoshitpiss thinks? He can double down on making XVII another DMC clone, frogs showed there are still ppl capable of releasing turnbased games with realistic graphics

The biggest posterbase too

Thats the case for most games these days, tbf.

Nog gonna put exp33 in the meme because it is actually a good game and the devs are clearly inspired by FF

but...

just bought her game
any cute outfit mods?

They need to realize turn based games are not dead.

You fucking retard, they made like five of those in 2024 alone, kill yourself you subhuman FF nigger

Adding the overworld was such a lovely touch

Chinese love frog stuff, so do nips btw, that's at least one thing they can agree on

well yeah, expedition 33 already made more money than remake / rebirth so they probably are envious

Square is owning juggernaut IPs and is aiming for 10M lifetime sales

optimistic numbers given they cant even clear half of that with their recent games

SE still has FF7 and FF14 fans to keep the company afloat until they all wither and die of old age so no

kek

And are any of them turnbased FF games? All of them AA budget games?

Is this list for sales in Japan or global?

It's like that for every game but the most western stuff like todd slop

Isnt their MMO not doing too hot right now?

Do you think Square Enix is envious of Expedition 33's success?

No. The Remake trilogy sells extremely well.

This list is retarded, because Rebirth and Persona 5 were console exclusives for a very long time.

Stupid niggers should stay out of analytics.

subhuman FF nigger

No Rebirth numbers?

profit = revenue - cost

Well maybe they shouldn't have been console exclusive then.

It's quite depressing how many times you've posted these and how many hours of your life you've spent fighting this fight for a major company that will never reward you for your efforts

I remember when Squeenix sold the Tomb Raider franchise because the reboot trilogy sold "only" 40 million and wasn't profitable for them

Also sold over 7 million because everyone who played Remake loved it

No, they should not be retarded and also include console sales. The gaming market is bigger than fucking Steam alone.

Why don't you talk about Jimbo anymore anon? You were the only guy who did and now that you don't namedrop him anymore nobody else does.

Is that the collectors edition?

Hi Jimbo. How are the janny duties going?

You can like rebirth and turn based games, flamewarcuck

Lol

I'm looking forward to Nintendo becoming our allies in the fight to boost 7R sales, but I am worried about no longer being able to dismiss 7R criticism as exclusively coming from jealous tendies who can't play the game. If Remake is available on the Switch 2 and we still see posts criticizing it, are we going to be forced to accept they're genuine, or will we create a new strawman to dismiss their nitpicks?

lmao you can tell he got insanely mad, he had to post FOUR TIMES

Tell that to the turn-niggers crying for 15 years straight, because Final Fantasy isn't turn-based anymore.

Final Fantasy would still be turn-based, if turn-based fans actually bought turn-based games. SE would literally go bankrupt, if they continued to make turn-based Final Fantasy games, that only sold 1 to max 2 million copies.

They should be, they just got shown by a small dev team showing you can still make HD turnbased games.

Not really no, and its full of suits who don't play games
Also, the sales numbers for expedition 33 would be considered a failure for square enix aswell, the scale is different.

Love how you didn't mention Rebirth only selling half that because all the people who fell for the hype was disappointed with Remake

Only in act 3 but it's crazy how bosses completely mog any jrpg boss of the last decade
sirene was more of a spectacle compared to any jrpg boss

The company as a whole? No. I'm sure some devs there are envious that other people got to work on something they had passion for though and turned out very well + is popular.

why do you guys keep talking about this game like you hope it'll make your ex-boyfriend jealous?

The only people with anything bad to say about Remake are turn based troons and tendies who never played it. Everyone who did play it loved it so Rebirth sold just as many copies. Somewhere between 7 and 10 million.

DQXI is not an AA game, neither was metaphor despite looking like a Vita game with 50 filters thrown on top
FF has been dead since XI and X-2 ruined the series identity 22 years ago, crying about it being a shitty cash grab series at this point when SE has been desperately trying to prop up literally everything else they can isn't on them, it's on FF fans being retards

Source?

You seriously need proof that every criticism of Remake comes from a turn based troon or seething tendie who didn't play it?

I played remake and disliked it immensely, it's on PC and easily pirateable. I liked XVI more

I think SE can't port a fucking game on PC

no grass.jpg - 4160x5164, 1.91M

Somewhere between 7 and 10 million

thats an impressive number
why is it you think squenix is so ashamed of their success that they refuse to tell us?

Isn't ubisoft dead?

I mean that is what a good chunk of people who hate modern FF have. The spiteful ex syndrome, it's not enough to move on and enjoy a new game you gotta hope the new hotness is like a middle finger to the thing you used to enjoy and can't get over. It's why Expedition 33 won't be the last "revival of the turn based" genre you see. It won't matter till Square Enix kneels and gives us the turn based FF we've waited 25 years for.

XVI was released on Steam 15 months later than on PS5... It was never intended to be a big seller on PC. Same with Rebirth and Remake. People still don't get this

shipped

sucks dick.png - 446x418, 135.46K

What I think is that I want an Aerith wife and a Maelle daughter

Lonely losers will continue to play games like FF7 and Witcher 3 in 10 years time. Frenchpedition69 will be forgotten in 3 weeks

Frenchpedition69 will be forgotten in 3 weeks

in 33 weeks

Is there any official data on the game's reception in these countries? I can't find anything online.

Who has recently announced Xenogears and Parasite Eve HD?

Xenogears HD? WHEN?

7 million copies of Remake are lying in Amazon warehouses

hurrr durrrrr

Cope and seethe.

get_help.jpg - 451x720, 62.43K

For real? Not french?

There should add a mini map mode

This is definitely a lie

Nah.
Get filtered, retard.

Dragon Quest is more popolar than FF in Japan

ff7 rebirth game of the year 2025 confirmed

I just play video games all this secondary melodrama is extremely feminine

SE still makes turn based games and a lot of them are reviewed really well but they all flop because FF ruined their image.

call it a remake

it's actually some fan fiction sequel

Why did SE do this, bros?

hmm3.jpg - 899x1080, 100.23K

Or turnbasedfags are posers/dramabaiters

They said it sold barely 3 milion

I liked XVI more

B-but that's not a FF. It's a pure action game

Trying to attract oldfags too

kek redditbirth is never getting a congratulatory message for sales like dq3 and xvi and they still have to waste even more money on part 3 which wont even break 500k multiplat sales

And what does that have to do with SE not doing turnbased FF games anymore?

You should play E33 instead of shitposting in E33 threads anon, you might like it.

it's too hard for me without a mini map

You mean compilationfags.

Because Remake's action elements just aren't very enjoyable for me, I would have liked it more if it played like KH and the atb element was like 2's MP bar or if it was simply turn based with movement/positioning elements, like Parasite Eve.
XVI was obviously just going to be an FF flavored product coming from the theme park XIV devs, but it at least has a little KH in it so it felt like something related to FF rather than a Frankensteining of ATB with action just for the sake of being something new.

Anon ff wont die, let it go

why would i want them to die? they are my favorite punching bag.

Because you are too old to still be mad at ff. We get it, you never liked ff7 success on ps1 but decades have passed. This is not healthy, you are going to cry in every ff thread even if they come back to be succesful
Dont act like a bitter woman

...why? Just use the map and compass

og is the best ps1 game and top 10 of all time. new ff7 is dogshit flopslop. keep crying about me in every thread.

I accept your seething and concession anon.

Makes sense. Remake is better and more focused than Debirth's ubishit.

more than half didn't return for part 2

owch

I like both Expedition 33 and Rebirth. Rebirth's action RPG system is something I want to see used more with Square games, maybe an original FF spinoff.

Well one reveleaded sales figures and the other one said sales were dissappointing in their investor meeting, I think that anon is right.

imagine flopping to shitsteen lmao

Same. Just make new games with it

All those people sold their PCs and became tendies.

They're seething, probably wondering how they can sue them.

FF is getting owned by everyone.
One of the hardest falls I have ever seen for a franchise.

E33 already has a movie coming and will obviously win GOTY now that GTA VI is delayed. You're coping hard, Clair Obscur is going to be huge.

jewtube

"insert game title" 実況

Poetic how both Nomura and Yoshida think JRPG is derogatory just to be btfo by an honorary jrpg made by some baguetteniggers.

I wonder if you will hide again if ff is succesful again

if ff is succesful again

lol

it's not a sequel, retard

Remake sold 7 mil, Rebirth 2-3 mil, Return will sell 1-2 mil at best

I dont like french melodrama

Why did this not happen to Mass Errect ?

Okay, keep shitposting to deal with your insecurities then

there is no map or compass in-game

Radeon gpu

Remake is also 3 years old. It was also at an advantage because it was the first... and it benefited from all the hype from longtime fans of VII who wanted a remake. Looking at it now, it's embarrassing compared to Rebirth. It's blatantly obvious how they stretched 4 hours of gameplay into 40 hours...

more then half of Rebirth wont return for part 3...

Anon said Rebirth sold like Remake...

call it a remake

its actually a psudo-sequel that has time cops to ensure the games story plays out properly as a meta-narrative on the concept of remakes in general

stretch a 5 hour section in the first game into 35 hours

Despite the presence of time cops, shit happens differently than the original anyway

characters from the fucking phone game no one plays

tip toe around Aeriths dead for the sole purpose of making players talk about it rather than deliver a meaningful conclusion to her character

its a shame, the remakes are fun to play, but holy fucking mother of christ, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?

yeah, people wanted a remake, when they realized it was going to be stretched into 3 games, they just played the first and dipped

Most of the negative reviews are complaining about the minigames and bloat.

Mass Errect

it'll a game that requires you to play Remake and Rebirth first. The base players is that big

you think they are envious of a game that sold less than every single numbered final fantasy game

look its a amazing game but you are really kinda entering delusional territory

Prime Minister gives 33 a shout out and not Shadows.

It sold well because the characters ugly, unironically. JRPGs serve a niche that get triggered by anime and pretty characters. Go on any forum and people are praising it for the realistic graphics and artstyle

comparing sales number from games that's been selling for 20-30 years to a new game that just came out 10 days ago

I think you're the delusional one here

They haven't even played the game. That's just tendies shitposting.

Actually most negative reviews are just performance.
Ps5 was flawless so it has decent player reviews.

quality review right here
the game is amazing
but the dialogue timer

file.png - 346x275, 58.44K

he open world in the first 3 areas were great, but after when you reach the 4th area in chapter 9, everything went downhill from there. It was like a totally different team designing the area compared to the previous areas. Fun got thrown out the window and it was more of a desperate attempt of trying to be different from other games, but failed miserably. Side quests became a boring and useless chore, the game also became like a maze just to find side quests and towers. The challenge in side quest/missions shouldn't be finding the mission itself. I used YouTube so much just to find how to get to the mission which in itself shows how badly the level design is. Reading the comments on those videos, clearly shows I'm not the only one who experienced this. It got to the point I almost decided to just drop the game, which is insane because I was excited for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth after how incredible Final Fantasy 7 Remake was.

oh boy i hope this guy doesnt play expedition 33, hes gonna kill himself

What would be a valid criticism of these games?

Dialogue timer of course
i also hated that in the walking dead, the game is amazing but THE DIALOGUE TIMERS, OH GOD

file.png - 339x292, 142.18K

No but really, what would be a valid criticism. I'm sure you don't believe there's no valid criticism of these games, right?

Dialogue timer IS a valid criticism, chud.

I was annoyed that someone pointed out the fact that Rebirth has a lower user review score on Steam than Remake so now I'm scrolling through every negative review for Rebirth on Steam in order to screenshot the stupidest one I can find in order to dismiss every possible criticism of the game.

What do think of me and my life?

9999.png - 941x480, 764.77K

FF15 sold 5 million in a day and FF16 sold 3 million in a week. Why would care about Expedition 33's success of selling 1 million?

33% of all Rebirth reviews are negative

Pottery

And that's from people who continued after playing part 1. Quite a bad result.

None of those people played the game. Tendies left those reviews.

incredibly grim

Sorry I was trolling you again

They need to play the game tho in order to leave reviews

That can't be true. Nobody could play this game and have a criticism of it afterwards.

that's a relief. if anyone was doing that shit for real it would be so incredibly sad.

If SE learn anything from this, I hope it's that they don't have to have massive budgets to make modern looking games.
The only recent SE game I know of that wasn't a budget handheld/digital game or a really expensive tentpole, is DQ11. And DQ11 was the only game they've put out in a long time where the vast majority of the fans were happy with it.

Do i need to remind you that many games like TW3 and Bloodborne started slow and then accumulated a lot of sales over time due to being great games? Meanwhile recent FF games had a lot of sales at launch and then dropped rapidly due to being mostly built on pre release fan hype and preorders. Barely anyone knew E33 existed before it came out

the combat is similar to recent FF games???

HOW? kek

You do realize 99% of FF players come from PS5?

and then accumulated a lot of sales over time due to being great games?

And FF15 sold 10 million. You think Expedition 33 is getting those numbers?

5666.jpg - 791x887, 230.65K

Yeah

FF is never going to be as big as it was again. SE biggest ally Sony can't help them, even PC ports can't save them. The only way the next FF and FF7R part 3 can get more sales than the ones out now is multiplat and even then it won't go above 10 million.
Going from selling consoles and itself to selling nothing.

lmao

Not even a contest

Exactly

45546.jpg - 1188x207, 47.25K

yeah lol like the bloodborne tv show right? and the MGS movie right? retard kek

Do the characters become visibly covered in their own blood when their health is low, or is it just part of their costume?

You doubt it? When was the 1 million figure? A week ago? And it's only rising in popularity while on the road to GOTY. 10M long term is not far fetched

Nintendo Switch will save FF7, mark it

comparing the sales of the 15th game in a series to a completely new IP

15th game in series was released around a decade ago

good job helping further illustrate the dire straits S-E is in

Possible. And it could do it without 5 years of giving the game away.
But even if it sells half of that, which is very realistic, I guarantee it's budget is far less than half of FF15 and 33 will be more far profitable.

And then if you take into account the next game each of them make:
33 devs will get a ton of attention and sales from reputation alone.
SEs next high budget FF sold half of what FF15 did.
Quality matters a lot.

I don't know, but the game mechanic introduced by Exp33 is innovative and a clear demonstration that the gaming industry, if given to people who are able to do their job, still has a lot of potentiality to express. It is not stagnating.

Ouch.

They got ass raped by Darkest Dungeon years ago and didn't change course so they are going to have to go bankrupt to understand.

FF7 being saved by Nintendo would be the funniest thing.

Winning.jpg - 1633x1257, 1.65M

envious

the word you were looking for is clueless

Dialog timer is derived from TW3. SE copied their way, but the problem is this: TW3 when released, was the first time it was released and the story itself is more focused on RPG, while FF7, when they released FF7Rebirth, had a story that was already written. It is completely useless to give "quick-induced" answers, if you already know how the canon story is going to end, or if the romancing you're in, is going to end with in a tragic way. In TW3 you can romance Yenn or Triss and in the end, Geralt has a different ending that brings both the protagonists on the reaching goal. In FF7, you already know that Clerith romancing is going to and end. Yeah, originally the story is that, but you choose that only because you already know how the story resolves. You're not really free to decide.

Will be fun to watch all the "pffth, 1 million sales? That's nothing" posters move the goalpost when it hits 2 million sales.

If SE wanted to do something really worthy this time, should have let the user decide even to save Aerith, to completely reject Aerith and goes only with Tifa etc. and have completely different stories, all new and never seen before. Instill some freshness on the game, still keeping its thriller way of storytelling with Sephiroth, while instead they messed up greatly, just for fanservice and in the stupid idea that, considering that Sephiroth is more famous than Justin Bieber, you can fuck up with the thriller/investigation part, and just bring a schizo here and there, just to see the places you're used to see in the OG, for nostalgia purposes. That's completely stupid and that's what ruined Rebirth and probably even Part 3.

It depends where they have been registered. Rebirth has been released even on EGS, not only on Steam.

If SE wanted to do something really worthy this time, should have let the user decide even to save Aerith

They already tried that with FFX-2 and that led to FFX-2.5

SE could learn from Exp33 and decide to release a proper FF7 redone version, using the new turn-based concept, but considering all the money they have thrown away on the Remake project, this is never going to happend. Mark my words. There's more probability they release FF17 with that concept, or a completely different serie game title, than another FF7. FF7 Remake project is doomed, at this point.

I lost all interest in remake when I found out the story is 95% the same. A massive waste of potential and creatively bankrupt.

Anyone?

You're just another insecure 7r fan. There are many more just like you.

yea: FINAL FANTASY 6900000 vs something fresh and clean

FF16 was shit SE is bad at making games it got nothing to do with turn based vs action

Idk but they should be. Rebirth was the worst game I played in recent memory.

Imagine conflating success with brand prestige. E33 has all the makings of a one hit wonder. That's all it's ever meant to be. A sequel will not be as good. The success around the game is fueled by an anorexic genre that desperately needed anything it could get its hands on. Now, whether the studio that I don't even know the name of will make other games will continue being successful is an entirely different discussion and that's dubious because once again, the game's success is heavily circumstantial and boosted.

they could learn from it to sell less then every single numbered Final Fantasy i guess.. not sure that is something they wanna learn

turn based

literally everyone praises the ACTION parts of it

what a dumb fucking comparison

Damn this game sucked too. Horrible, horrible music. I should have tried it in 2d, maybe the old school aesthetic could have saved it.

Why are you surprised? 50% of steam’s user base is chinese. Its essentially a chinese platform now.

not just known, it's selling out in japan
they even have their own name for it since they can't pronounce the actual title

But not enough for a good sales number

Sometimes sales figures matter a lot, sometimes they don't matter at all.
