Define grow up with. I had a PS2 growing up but I also grew up with a PS1, Sega Genesis, SNES, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, and Dreamcast. Are there really people who only grew up with one console system?

Yes. Everything afterwards was stagnation in both fun and soul. I think it's more accurate to say about this specific period of years is that regardless of whether you gamed on consoles or PC: it was a good era in general. It's not even about brand recognition in this instance, the overall quality of niche games and triple A catering to a smaller group of people resulted in hobbyists/enthusiasts being favored.

Look it's a fine console, closely tied with Genesis. It simply never had a big dedicated following to fluff it up and keep it up there. It was beaten down by neanderthals praising goldeneye and banjo kazooie. PS2 only solidified its place and with formerly lesser known titles like god hand propelled itself into time as the greatest console, enshrined by endless challengers who always fall short. In 25 years there will be some dweeb saying the same thing you are but about the switch. Funnily enough posting many of the same games and begging people to agree like you are now. No one will truly be swayed.

Earthbound is probably one of the most emulated and dropped games solely due to how high on their own supply the fans were.

EB is a very orthodox JRPG with one interesting mechanic (health reels) and a (at the time) novel setting. It's not surprising the average pleb would get filtered, it's not a cinematic normalgroid kind of game like you see on the casual station 2.

You're going to have do to more work if you want people to take the cuckolds' RPG: Bahamut Lagoon over Devil May Cry, God Hand, Zone of the Enders 2, God of War 2, and Final Fantasy X. The more you impose the worse its going to get. You just can't stand up to the reality of it.

I wonder did you play it or were you unfamiliar with its reputation? I know it says Square, and Bahamut Lagoon *sounds* cool but the content of its character is what keeps it swept away. Unlike Shadow of the Colossus, it doesn't seal the deal, like so many other mediocre Super Nintendo games.

No, I actually got the n64 towards the end of the generation. I got the PS2 like 2 years later. Then I got the Xbox 360 whenever modern warfare came out. It got ringed of death so I got a Wii in 2009. That same year I got a PS3 slim.

After that I got the PS4 at launch day which was a first for me. I was at the line at GameStop. After that I got the wiiU strangely. Then I got the switch and the series x the same year.

I also had most handhelds except for the Nintendo DS. Pokemon died in gen 3. Don't let people bullshit you otherwise. I was there when it happened.

Of course I got to play other consoles at friends houses. We even borrowed the SNES for a few months.

I think I'm done with most gaming. I'm thinking of buying a mini PC or a steam deck and just emulate.
