The Switch 1 launch-day lineup wasn't amazing either. People have rose-tinted glasses for the system and forget the specifics. The rest of its Y1 lineup was good, but launch day and the first month was light, basically carried by BOTW alone.

First two months of Switch 2, with MKW and DK, are already better than the first two months of Switch 1. But have to see how the rest of the year pans out.

To be fair, the Switch 1 didn't release with any hard-hitters, aside from BotW (but that was also on Wii U).

First THREE months were light. SW1 had BOTW in March, a port of MK8 in April, and nothing in May.

It wasn't until Arms and Splatoon came out in the summer did the lineup start to steamroll.

Switch 2 will have MKW in June, DK in July, a lighter month with Kirby Forgotten Land port in August, then probably Prime 4 in September. That's a solid stretch there. The Holiday period in Oct-Dec is weak, with only Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors 3 announced. But they might announce another holiday game to flesh out the lineup.

Launching with the GOAT isn't bad, MK8D was great especially for anyone who didn't own Wii U, Arms was fun and then Splatoon 2, by then you had something to really pla all the time in my opinion. I think even for the Nintendo only hate JRPGs the launch year is still GOATED, getting a great Zelda/Mario in the same year is special.
