RPGS that are lumped in with earthbound

Why the fuck is OFF associated with earthbound and Yume Nikki despite having nothing to do with either of them

Batter.jpg - 1024x1024, 196.03K

Because it's a boring ass RPG Maker walking simulator that has awful standard-battlesystem-battles and is carried 100% by its art style. Nothing mechanically interesting, no cool custom battle system or custom menus, nothing. It's fucking garbage.

RPGMAKER slop. Though its good rpgmaker slop at that.

I wouldn't say it's boring entirely especially since there's a lot of fun moments and I enjoyed the puzzle solving of it.

he's fr*nch

gross

Nobody is perfect anon

tournament about Anon Babble and Anon Babble characters with similarities teaming up

Ah sweet!

winners are a boring nostalgic canon team who robbed a more interesting off topic team

Oh…
Every time.

Earthbound

Was posted by someone on Starman forum

Yume Nikki

It's also one of the first popular rpg maker games
Now post Queen's big elohas
Worse, he is french belgian

but muh side tournaments

I don’t care.

So OFF is only loosely connected to these two games

You're realising that only now?

_.jpg - 1082x905, 84.81K

OFF is kind of like CO Expedition 33 if Clea had gone into the canvas instead of Alicia

subhuman.png - 630x261, 142.67K

its subversive/postmodern

Where's the subversion?

Same as it ever was
Not really but I think it's funny how something so minor could end up latching onto a game's history and DNA

Destroying the dying world I guess? Or perhaps how abstract and bizarre the setting is, idk

I liked it

I hear "It's Killer7 inspired" all the time in regards to OFF, but don't see anything beyond the extremely loose connection of "Batter Kills ghosts", which you do in Luigi's Mansion. What in OFF specifically homages Killer7?

The puzzles and general weirdness was said by mortis himself to be killer7 inspired you fag

Still no preview of updated combat

Instead it's another indie video game creator inspired by OFF that made much more successful in profit vidya game to try boosting sales while making the most horrible ost replacement

I wouldn't be surprised if the only programmer working on the remake (which is on Unity apperently), is low paid intern who is here only because he was promised to work on something better.

Dick and Waluigi were shit winners top, Erika and John Silver were more interesting and people cared about their sources more

How the hell is THAT Killer7 inspired? You can attribute puzzles and being weird to a bazillion fucking games. Things specific to Killer7 are the smile laughter, the artstyle, the identity changing, and the blood explosions.

If I need to spoonfed how Batter and ending are incredible Garcianish I don't know what to say.

The Choice.png - 1920x1080, 487.01K

Okay that one makes sense, I never made that connection before

Useless niggers

Oxymoron

Based, Waluigi was a Wariofag pity pick and no one likes or talks about Wacky Races.

/tnt/bros...

How is the Switch version of this? I heard it came out a year or two ago but didn't pay attention since I didn't like OFF as much as other RPGmaker games.

Plus like, Mortis Ghost himself says it's inspired by Killer7. I don't know why you need really further proves than that.

OFF has no challenge, it's so braindead easy and boring, even the super boss Sugar can be cheesed so easily, the battle theme is the only saving grace.

You know, I actually don't know if Curtis Blackburn or Jeffrey Epstein are worse, both are evil to a cartoonishly stupid degree

but it has le atmosphere

Atmosphere only really saves horror games. Five Nights at Freddy's and FAITH would be considered unplayably bad if they weren't trying to scare you, but they do manage horror well

I don't play games for atmosphere. I play games for... wait for it... the GAMEPLAY.
But sure, be a good consooooooomer and pay $35 for a game that has literally been free for nearly 2 decades just because the developer has decided he wants to cash in on some slop he churned out back in the day.

dude it's like so le random and quirky but it's actually about dying to cancer and edgy, so deep

It used to get shilled a lot on the Starman forums back in the day. Protag also uses a baseball bat just like /ourguy/ ness I guess.

I mean, one is a fictional character based on real people (like Epstein).

Reminder that Curtis is voiced by Senator Armstrong

RAPED A LOT OF GIRLS YOU KNOW

COULD'VE GONE PRO IF I HADN'T JOINED THE ICE

The switch port of OFF is such a shameless scam that I almost admire it

just because the developer has decided he wants to cash in on some slop he churned out back in the day.

Like you wouldn't have done the same if 95% of work would have been handled by other people.
And there are no free games on switch

Hex Maniac would unironically make for a great winner. She’s memorable, fits the board, and provides a breath of fresh air compared to the nostalgiashit winners we’ve been getting recently on main

Did that lazy Belgium waffle at least added something to charge for that price?

Bait used to be believable.

I think jump rope challenge was free for a really short amount of time

OFF?

709029964

I don't why retards argue muh character when it's a video game contest first and foremost. Batter has no reason to be considered king here looking at his legacy here and the game itself.

TOURNEYBROS HOW THE FUCK DID YOU LET THE STEALTH HOMESTUCK THREAD STAY UP FOR LONGER AND ACTUALLY REACH BUMP LIMIT WHILE OURS DIED WTF WTF

Is Mortis working on his new game or doing the usual NEET stuff and living off the government, friends, and almost two decade old legacy?

Yup.

Unironically rope yourself tournament tranny.

any post that has an opinion I disagree with is bait

I think they're remaking the Battle system, but the original soundtrack will also be changed. The composer for the original said he didn't want automated copyright systems to take down fan remixes and he doesn't trust fangamer, which seems pretty based

Anon, he's doing the laziest possible cash grab by charging for a fucking previously free RPGM Maker game, the brunt of the work of which he is outsourcing to literally anyone else besides himself.

He canned one game ( it wasn't panning out as something he wanted ) and works now on another. Other than that, he is a comic book artist.

he doesn’t know

What can Mortis Ghost learn from Sandfall's Expedition 33? They're both French and JRPG makers.

Nothing because OFF has an entirely different aesthetic and feel

both French

Mortis is a waffleman, not frogman

OFF can use the improvement gameplay wise but fan made stuff already did that years ago. I don't think parryslop will work well in this style of play that fans are used to.

There's a difference?

Fang

You are not going to fill out the bingo that way.

Dedan

Queen's most strong and loyal soldier!

He's the only Zone master that was doing his job correctly he was just an asshole

I didn't feel bad for the Queen at all. I thought she was an incompetent ruler and a retard for letting her people turn into sugar by the thousands.

King of BITCHES seething and coping

If it's the only your gripe with her, than you would be surprised from where ghosts come from

Pepper Steak easily. I really doubt the new songs will be better than the originals, especially for stuff like Avatar Beat and Minuit A Fond La Caisse.

This again?

Yume Nikki is the progenitor of the entire genre of surreal RPGmaker games. So OFF fits right in, even if it may not have even been inspired by it at all.
Earthbound is seen as the godfather of all quirky indie RPGs, since Earthbound is very unique for a (then) AAA game for being an RPG set in this world which is so odd, in some ways mundane and others completely wild.

While OFF may not have been directly inspired by either of them, it is very similar in style to those that were. Hence the connection.

A big theme of OFF's which would be done better by later games is the moral culpability of the player. The Batter is (more or less) characterized as a villainous figure, the game over song is "Stay in your coma" there is an undercurrent of blaming the player, or saying the play was wrong to do what they had to to beat the game.
Which is subversive in comparison to playing it straight

It's not out yet

Pepper steak is superior

Recettey draws NO dimes.
