So let me get this straight... A random french software developer who never did any game dev work before in his entire life just decided to create a studio from nothing and make a game just because he felt like it? It sold 1 million units in 3 days and now he is a multi-millionaire.

Uuuuh... Anon Babblesisters? Why are you not making your dream game right now and getting rich with it?

HAS STYLE

So let me get this straight
Anon Babble.org/advertise

he is a multi-millionaire

that's not how it works

A random french software developer who never did any game dev work before in his entire life

When did the narrative change from ex-ubislop schmucks?

A random french software developer who never did any game dev work before in his entire life just decided to create a studio from nothing and make a game just because he felt like it?

Then they sold the IP to a multimedia firm before the game even came out. The movie tie in is going to be awesome in how much money it loses.
I feel bad for the frogmontiers.

he meant he was a project manager or some boring shit and he started to dev his own game on his free time

Nah they still own the IP. Both "Clair Obscur" and "Expedition 33"

Only reason the game sold is it appeals to trannnies with agp who masturbate while running around as underage female protagonists.

wrong

this would be personatards

I refuse to make work garbage so it couldn't be me

A random french software developer who never did any game dev work before in his entire life just decided to create a studio from nothing

I thought it was a bunch of game devs who escaped having to make soulless bullshit for Ubisoft to pay the bills and decided to actually make a decent game without Ubicancer putting its stink on it

simply secure funding and talent bros and come up with a good idea for a game that will sell well its that easy

well when you put it like that
the average anon will not have the resources to put out a large scale game like this

It was just one french man at first. He worked on his side project for a year.
Here is the prototype:
streamable.com/fxo6p1

Then he started to need some help on gameplay, music, etc. Once it grew big enough they all left their jobs and created a registred company.

Zoomer's first turn-based rpg

black myth wukong devs came from tencent, just because the original studio was shitty didn't mean the successor developers were too.

the average anon will not have the resources to put out a large scale game like this

Obviously.
It requires having a civil conversation with other people. 90% of the people on this board can't manage having an actual person to person conversation, much less a civil one.

literal reddit writing

Yikes

Oh, that's really neat. Makes me even more happy the game did okay, much as Anon Babble wants to shit on it now for getting too popular in the wrong spaces. It was a fun little RPG, I really enjoyed the way the twist was executed. Moreso when similar virtual world real world twists were done in games like Star Ocean 3. I don't think its the best game ever, but it certainly wasn't bad plotwise or mechanically.

revolutionizing the FRPG

just copies jrpgs and adds quicktime events for parries like FF8 did for bonus damage with the gunblade.

A random french software developer who never did any game dev work before in his entire life

wrong. he apparently worked on such master pieces of shit such as Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and HoMM7. explains a lot about why Clair Obscur is utter fucking dog shit that I regret even wasting my time pirating.

worked on marketing on Ghost Recon

wrote some lore on H0MM

w-wow truly game design direction

OP is baiting but this BS information is getting passed around because that's what their PR is telling journalists. They're saying it was made by a "passionate small team of 30 people" when in reality it was 400+ AAA developers with hundreds of millions in funding from Kepler Interactive...

And journalists aren't verifying anything, just running what they're being told by Clair 33's PR team.

Give me an example of Anon Babble writing

Creator of Dark Souls was the same. He didn't have any video game industry experience before that. Not even a fucking programmer or skilled artist. He just had the balls.

You don't got the balls anon.

Why are you not making your dream game right now and getting rich with it?

Woketards don't create good games. i thought we already established that fact.

why do you consider yourself a woketard?

Five Night's At Freddy's spam threads all over again.

how do you think games are made stupid faggot nigger, brainlet zoomer you probably only played only games made after 2010

I didnt play it and I m retarded

who never did any game dev work before in his entire life

He is an ex Ubislop dev, has worked on AAA shit before.

when in reality it was 400+ AAA developers

But it wasn't. And yet you keep repeating it.

it's actually 46 devs and not 33 like the retards on the internet keep spewing

That's still a small team though.

A lot of the people who worked on this have it as their first game. That's even more impressive.
It's fucking great, too. And it has one of the best OSTs ever from a Literal Who from SoundCloud. If it doesn't win best music at the Pope Awards, it's fucking criminal.

30 frogs + 9 cuckreans

yeah that's a small dev team

the point still stands, those are his only game credits and CO sucks a crusty donkey dick in terms of game quality. not graphics quality, you stupid nigger there's a pattern if you're not too smooth-brained to see it.

If it doesn't win best music at the Pope Awards, it's fucking criminal.

The only way it doesn't win best music is if some other game coming out this year has the soundtrack of the gods.

It's fucking great

incorrect

it has one of the best OSTs ever

LMFAO, everything sounded like completely generic background slop you could have an AI shit out

I tried to challenge myself and not bring Maelle or Verso to the Clea fight and after Monoco got eaten (unavoidable) there LITERALLY was not enough damage to out damage her heal. Genuinely why are Lune and Sciel so fucking bad at damage? Lune in particular, her fucking Elemental Genesis hit for 300k max. That's fucking pathetic man. After 30 minutes I just reloaded my previous save.

scam every gamer with dogshit game

omg guys why don’t you get rich too!!!

Money is not games corpo

Is this actually worth playing?

It's great fun if you haven't played Mario RPG in a while.

not in the least. biggest troll currently ongoing.

Expedition 33 is basically a perfect game. I'd say my only complaints which are, really, total nitpicks is the story gets a little convoluted towards the end and the post-game content had too much boss rehashing. I would have much preferred more character driven quests like Esquie/Monoco/Maelle/Lune's and unique dungeons with unique bosses like The Reach/Abyss/Floating Manor (though Manor's side bosses were lame).

For me they could have stood to have a 6th party member just for the sake of symmetry when the game does that whole "last stand of expedition 33" thing. Also it's 2025, there's no reason that games should be forcing you to buy one item at a time when the store sells multiple in a stack.

If you like turnbased RPG with action elements yes. The game does everything right that a lot of modern gaming has forgotten like constant and rewarding exploration, consistently present and important characters, and a driven story. The visuals and music is also beautiful It truly is best-in-class for its genre.

Expedition 33 is basically a perfect game

literally did not take even 30 seconds

Yeah someone that twists the mechanics some - like a block mechanic or something. I wonder if we'll get DLC that tackles The Writers one day?

random French software developer

this is not an accurate description of Guillaume Broche

So which bucket are you?
1. Poorfag
2. Brownfag
3. All of the above

Everyone is enjoying this game. You aren't intelligent or some man of refined taste. You're hating on a game for literally no reason or gain. Just go post in a thread for a game you can afford/enjoy.

786341577.png - 1022x841, 324.58K

100% the game

turn it off

hours played: 101

this triggers my autism to an unreasonable degree

you're too mentally retarded to recognize the game is subpar

everyone else is wrong

#3 it is

It's almost if you focus on the actual artistry instead of the propagandistic gaytard slop, people will flock to it like a thirsty man to water.

The Asian chick he hired off Reddit rewrote the entire game for him. Given how much the writing would make or break a game like this, it probably would have flopped if he didn't have her help

who never did any game dev work before in his entire life

Last I heard, he worked for Ubisoft.

how many more ishikawas are hiding out there in the wild

Dude unironically hit the lottery finding someone so talented off of fucking Reddit of all places

omg they are on soundcloud YAAAASS!!

Many established and prolific composers and producers and DJ's have soundcloud pages. Get a grip.

It's a JRPG for "modern audiences".
Make of that what you will.

How can something that reuses everything from 30 year old games be "best in its class for its genre"?
The only way you can think that is if you haven't played any other JRPGs, which, the more i read about this game - seems to be precisely the case with all its fans.

Replay it, to 100%, but make sure you do it 1 hour quicker this time.

rewrote the entire game for him.

Guillaume Broche, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen and Victor Deleard are all credited writers.

Stop acting like she did the entire thing.

Game got a total rewrite when she came on board

I finished the game and now I don't know what to do with myself.
