I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
based Maelle. FUCK Verso
verso ending makes more sense but maelles ending is KINO
how the fuck does this image look so real.
moral of the story: women ruin everything for not being able to face reality
starting to think these devs are secretly based
verso ending makes more sense
Paintings has their own consciousness they aren't just puppets.
AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE ESQUIE SAVE ME
v*rso ending
forced to live a life of complete solitude as disfigured goblin abomination, unable to even speak without unbearable pain, despised by her own mother for killing her brother
maelle ending
I have to play le piano! ohnono!
do v*rsotards even
time for a swim swim :)
she can just paint another canvas afterwards, many different ones in fact, holding him hostage in his own is evil.
The Raped
Except Renoir is also a retarded and Clea is the only Dessandre member who's not a retard acting like a teenager despite having godly powers.
Renoir even painted Clea's Axon as this huge being completely carrying Old Lumiere on her back which probably means he also knows she's the only one actually wearing the pants in the house
FUCK YOU SIS YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY AND ENJOY YOUR CRIPPLE LIFE
I DON'T WANT TO PLAY THE FUCKING PIANO ANYMORE
Jesus Christ Maelle
His father won't let her
Verso isn’t the one playing the piano. Verso is the little boy painting. The only person she is torturing is the fan fiction her mom made that she continues to write new chapters for.
Somehow the devs managed to perfectly capture pure seethe mixed with unfathomable depression. Actual kino
But Maelle treats them like puppets in her ending anyways so thanks for agreeing it's a bad end.
Can other characters even come close to Maelle's damage?
Verso is pathetic.
He isn't even allowed to be fake Verso.
Rather, he's literally true Verso's mom idea of Verso.
He can't even be allowed to be real in his fakeness.
french are doomerfags

piano chads... not like this...
Sciel is the only character that can scale infinitely through Twilight and Foretell consumption so she probably can.
Watching their relationship fall apart was kinda beautiful I’d never seen anything like it in a video game
This game is cinema
This poster is an insufferable faggot
maellicia did nothing wrong
youtu.be
kojimbo would approve
Clea is the only sane Dessendre and would make the best wife.
Monoco can hit just as hard with lampkeeper and dualiste
I said No because I feel like Verso was still mad at Maelle
Monoco with his meme build can clear almost all encounters
what meme build
I love Monoco but he suffers from the classic Blue Mage jack of all trades master of none.
In terms of damage, Maelle and Verso have him beat at every stage of the game
In terms of support and utility, Lune and Sciel are measurably better.
He is basically just the based retard best friend in the party
verso lowkey upset maelle repainted him in that moment
masterpiece of a game
How long is this game, a Euro jrpg sounds like kino, but i dont have time for another 200 jrpgslop with 150 hours of filler
A perfect 25-30 hours
30 hours if you just do main content. 60+ If you wanna platinum.
Can't be bothered to list the whole picto and lumina set up.
But you use the cultist dude to bring his HP to 10%
You stack low health modifiers and shit like glass cannon, use the weapon that has him start in all mighty or heavy wheel.
You could probably beat the game in about 40-45 hours. Though there is a ton of optional stuff in the final act it's all skippable if you don't want to do it.
like 30 hours without the optional content at most.
20 hours of main story stuff & like 15 hours of postgame stuff
30 hours if you bumrush the story
60 hours if you explore everything and kill all the optional bosses.
Maelle is so broken. My other team members can't even keep up.
it's a tight campaign of about 40 hours, it felt like i played so much but my file said 33 hours when I unlocked the final dungeon, it has lots of side content though so I estimate 60 to get it all done.
sounds good anons ill check it out thx
being made of pure chroma brought into the real world, trained by the head of the painters guild how to paint
Verso is the second games villain, prob gonna make the musicians guild or something cringe forcing Painters and Writers into an unease truce
I got 54 hours out of it and 100%'d it including exploring every nook and cranny and prob letting idle for a good 6 hours.
You could definitely beeline the main story and wrap it up in 10-15 hrs but half the joy of this game is the constant expanding side content to explore.
Not sure about the Verso part but I 100% expect a 2nd game in the universe to explore Musicians as the 3rd faction
The Writers weren't explained at all and Clea was barely even touched upon. Still don't know if she's a villain
Monoco solo'd most encounters and does just as much damage as Maelle.
Dude the point of the game is “Verso’s dead, move on” bringing him back would just invalidate that. At most we’ll get DLC of Expedition 0
Haven't seen anyone address it:
Who's the little boy with Maelle?
Because the ending makes it seem like that's her son..... and that Verso is.....
I would enjoy a DLC that revisits the themes of Act I - sacrificing everything to pave a path for the future generations is kino and full of Hopium
Nigga why you talking in ellipses this isn’t a novella
Had zero issue one shotting everything in the game as Lune and Verso. Even more so with Sciel cheesing them
I thought it was supposed to be a piece of real Versos soul and what is sustaining the painting
sorry anon...... sometimes.... i use them for.......................... dramatic effect.
Holy fuck anon that would completely change the tone of the ending.
It looks like one of Gustave's apprentices..
ahh fuck, I think you're right.
I like this more though, because it would mean Verso's soul is happy and taken care of, and that Maelle is punishing painted verso for being a dumb piece of shit.
babby numbers desu
this is the female writer's favorite books
Verso’s soul is in his music. In the sequel they will probably have a writer be the protagonist and verso will probably be invading their worlds with his music. We never see his body, he may not actually even be dead. We just know he “died” saving Maelle.
Son wants to be a musicuck
Every female in your family is insane
Being Renoir is suffering
The only true perspective we get of Verso is from the little boy that talks in all the different dungeons. We have very little understanding of the 26 year old man that was lost in the writer’s attack.
She and the main guy like FF8 so they are absolutely based.
Clea's the reason everything went horribly wrong. She's as much as fuckup as the rest of her dumb family.
It seems like Clea made Lune and Sciel as her way to tip the scales against her mother.
She is barefooted and holds herself like Lune and both Lune and Sciel can unlock Cleas outfit as clothing options.
2nd page
Verso, please play the piano.
I want to marry schizo Maelle
remove alicia from the painting
check back in an hour to see if verso's soul is now cool with painting in a non fucked world
if not then nuke it
same with fake verso except just nuke him if he's still not cool with existing
story done
renoir and clea can strap alina and alicia in restraint chairs if they're too brain deflated to comply with this plan for one hour
GIVE US THE LORE WOMAN
dirty job is a cute story. kino.
Damn she seems autistically devoted to the story.
It isn’t literally verso’s soul. Its just a piece of him that was recorded and still exists. There are likely several other horcruxes all over paris. It’s just the piece that the mother loves the most. He could even be in that doll that they bury at the end.
According to Lune's VA she has like a huge book of lore she carries around.
the painters
the writers
where are the jocks to beat these weirdos up so they stop stirring shit up?
Not surprised Flowers for Algernon is there but the pendulum swing between slop like Sanderson and Cradle to kino like all systems red and sixteen ways to defend a walled city is crazy.
the model does look different than gustaves apprentices but i don't know if there is anything more to support my theory, i figured she repainted the fading boy somehow
Verso, I'm not fucking asking. Do it now.
I think there are lines in the game implying its the only piece of the real Verso's souls left, its why the mother will never give up trying to find it even if they did hide it
You vill play ze piano und you vill be happy
It's literally a part of his soul. This is repeated multiple times by multiple people and is the entire reason why Aline wants to keep it around.
Slop is good sometimes. I couldn't read Les Misérables and then jump into another massive book after. I recently read Tess of the D'Uberville and after that I read Animal Farm cuz I needed something lighter and "chill"
Oh boo hoo, cry me a river. Maelle will die at a rapid pace from being in the painting too long and when that happens he'll get to die too. He's already been alive for a century he can handle another decade or two.
That's a lot of effort to put in for a world when the endings push you to erase it and treat like it's nothing and that the lives within are worthless.

Did Maelle “kill” Alicia because Alicia asked her too or because she hated her real self?
You can tell she's real since she understand Wheel of Time is cool.
Dumb feminists whine about WoT as being anti-woman, but actual women know it's pretty evenhanded and deliberately exaggerated for the sake of its message about unity.
Big surprise then, that all the female characters in E33 are excellently written and the men don't just exist to prop them up.
I completed the main story plus other stuff at 35 hours. I 100% it at 60 hours
most kino character in the game
sauron tier aura
in the end he's just a literal who slave with no agency
heh, nothing personnel
I really hope someone interviews the writer someday. The director and the VAs is cool and all but I want to know THE LORE.
_____________________________Yes_____________________________
did they bury esquie ? i thought alicia was keeping it for sentimental reasons
and regardless of how much of verso's soul it is or isn't, whatever he is sustains the painting
so he should have some consent over whether he continues or not
if his willingness to paint is conditional on renoir and alina not royally fucking everything up 24/7 then giving him and his canvas some non-secondary painter time gives the people of lumiere the best chance at existing by way of his good will
it was fucking kino when he merged with that lion.
It is ambiguous to me but at that point Alicia had lost her family and only Verso was left who frankly seemed to shun her half the time. She had nowhere to go but solitude in her mountains.
It was like she was looking at walking garbage
Yeah I shouldn't have lumped in Cradle with Sanderson since Cradle is actually a fun read.
In that sense that you put your soul in all of your work. Renoir has painted hundreds of canvases, does that mean his soul is split in 100 parts?
She's looking at your filename, anon
her after finishing rimming me
oopsie
There is without a doubt a fragment of the real Verso in the painting. Its taking the metaphor of pouring heart and soul into art literally.
And the fragment LITERALLY agrees with what Renoir is doing
He is doing what must be done. What I can no longer do
Maybe you can choose what paintings you put a fragment into or not. This was Verso's childhood canvas he used to play with his sister, it's implied it was the most important one. We can safely assume he painted others yet this one's the only one with a piece of his soul.
Cradle’s first five books are good. It becomes slop once the author realized he can pump it out asap and still get money
Where does Chroma come from? The symbology when Alicia re-enters the painting seems to imply its outer god shenanigans
my guess is that he's really old and has seen Maelle reset everything except him. countless times
and Maelle is decomposing for being inside the canvas for who knows how long
my guess is that he's really old and has seen Maelle reset everything except him. countless times
Damn I actually missed that
Wonder if that lion was some kind of ff8 reference lol
it's just the fabric of life in the painting. chroma = chromatic = color = paint
The secret god faction: The Ballers.
how real are the act iii sciel and lune
Huh, Verso’s making some good points
remember pic related
Nah, fuck that cuck
And not two minutes after this
I'm actually wondering. If you don't do their relationship levels in act 2, are they the same if you do them in act 3 or do they get locked out. Because if they act the same exact same way then that would be sure proof they're real
It's not that quick in his world, since time dilation is a factor. Keep in mind Renoir and Alina had been in that painting for like 67 years and it was probably only a day or two in the real world. Verso probably has to suffer for at least a few more centuries before Maelle's real body finally bites it.
what has kojimbo said about expedition 33
I literally don’t feel bad for Verso though
Me rikey da sushi
sheeeet
Just finished.
Are you seriously still debating Final Fantasy Tactics Advance?
Are you seriously still debating Final Fantasy Tactics Advance?
no. everyone agrees that marche and verso were correct, the devs only included the maelle ending to reinforce that the verso ending was correct
FF8 is my favorite and this game is the best RPG i've ever played. very kino minded.
What's the name for this emotion?
That's really one of the most bittersweet aspects of the story for me, with perhaps a bit more emphasis on the "bitter". I feel like the world of Lumiere is detailed, well-written, and interesting enough to stand on its own, it didn't deserve the "lol it's all a matrix simulation" treatment. You read all the journals of the old expeditions and it fills you with this sense that you're a small part of something greater, that all these people's noble efforts and sacrifices will finally have paid off and pave the way for your success. Only to discover that nothing they did ever mattered because this entire world doesn't matter and the best ending sees it entirely destroyed.
Fem cucked
yeah this was definitely made for FF8 patricians.
He's ashamed of his words and deeds
Seethe
alicia was able to 'bring them back' as convincingly as she did because she 'saw' their freshly gommaged chroma while fleeing renoir's lumiere
but i'm not sure if restoring their bodies and memories as accurately as alicia found possible constituted as resurrection or cloning
even if the relationship levels carried over, which i'm pretty sure they do, what differentiates genuine resurrection versus some level of cloning?
part of me thinks reusing the same chroma that constituted the original sciel and lune means those two coming back was more akin to resurrection than cloning,
but the game overtly implies that reviving in verso's canvas only partially brings that entity back
narratively i like the idea that those two were more resurrected than cloned since it makes both endings more impactful versus thinking act iii's lune and sciel don't have the same souls as act i and ii's
so i'll go with that
i had him fuck sciel because lune is for me and when he dies i have a threesome with both.
They don’t have souls. They are just paint, in a game, made by a human with a brain.
The story is so good for the same reasons you should hate it. Killing Gustave, making the expeditions pointless; I don't even have words to describe it. The game is playing you as much as you're playing it.
Be Renoir

Maelle does say it's "Verso's only canvas" when Renoir says he's going to destroy it.
you ever look in a mirrour anon
i don't see why he wouldn't, considering it's primarily because this canvas being verso's canvas is the reason why alina and eventually alicia wants to stay in it forever. that's the only reason why there's so much conflict surrounding this one.
i do think the maelle side of alicia is more influential in her decision making, but once verso's canvas is nuked i don't see why she couldn't be allowed to make others in the future.
I originally thought it was a year, then an anon said it was 1 hour:1 year, but that doesn't really make sense when I think about it because Maelle has healed scars, but at the same time Verso hasn't been buried yet.. or maybe he was..
Another anon said we never see his dead body, so they might have "buried" him in an empty casket, which would make a lot more sense, as this would respect the time it would take for Maelle's scar's to heal while also "burying" verso in Verso's ending.
Sciels kid
Fuck Maelle what a little egoist cunt I saved Kid Verso fuck that bitch
fixes your old hag
Game is now a 10/10
Mirrors don’t show you what you are. They are just flat objects bending light that are interpreted by a lens in your eye that flips the light and reverses it. Your brain then just does its best to interpret all of this light into something. If we had better brains and better light and better eyes we could interpret reality more effectively.
hmmmmmmm...
that's a good question anon...
that scene is definitely ominous with the way Maelle looks at Verso while he's hunched down upset. her face was ambivalent, almost joyfully care free at erasing painted alicia.
she would definitely be able to make others
saying goodbye to the universe in which she has lived the more recent half of her conscious life would probably make her painting shy for a while
but she'd honestly prob shelve it entirely unless she had to use it again assuming she gets better psychologically
since she'd likely embrace writing instead (without engaging with the writers)
I want to kiss Alicia's crispy face.
absolutely NOT she can do 56,000,000 damage in one hit with the right setup
This is one of the reasons why motion captured women look so ugly, because the models don’t take advantage of all of the techniques that women use to bend light to enhance their appearance to our brains.
yea I agree, but anon might have a point.
I'm starting to think now that after Maelle gains Alicia's memories she actually enjoys... fucking with painted verso... like, punishing him.
They do have souls tho. Their souls are just different from real world souls and are made out of magic paint. When Maelle recreates Lune and Sciel they remember everything they went through before, even private conversations they had with Verso that Maelle wouldn't know about. So there is a central essence that houses their self, which is what we call a soul. Lune also alludes to this when she says she can feel the presence of the dead when she uses chroma.
there's barely any mandatory filler
having passion for something and working hard makes you autistic
The state of modern day retards
None of the painted characters resemble the real life people they are based on. They are just fantasies of the Mother. The closest thing in the paintings to the real children are the Axons.
what
how does this further the soul conversation
O_O
who is that? verso, Gustave or Renoir? I literally can't tell them apart
endless eight
But that's the whole point. If you didn't felt like the world in the painting and it's characters are alive, the Verso ending would carry absolutely 0 weight. The whole climax of the game hinges solely on your investement in these characters
do the tears only render on high end systems, it didnt look like he was crying on my ps5 copy
Honestly this.
Does it really matter if you agree with Verso when he admits to letting Gustave die?
Be honest anons.
Did you cry at the end? I wept like a fucking baby god damn, watching Verso hug Esquie and Monoco broke me
Nobody is able to observe the painting except the Painters. If a writer went up to a painting they would just see a zoomed out Lumiere. They can’t enter it. That’s why their eyes looked so fucked up, because no one is actually inside the painting, it is just a shared experience that they can share with other people with the same gift. It is no different than a writer writing a book that allows the reader to experience the same world that the writer imagined in their head.
None of the paintings have any of their own sentience, they are completely dependent on the chroma infused into it by the painter. If they aren’t being observed by the painter, they don’t have little lives they live on their own.
no but both of the endings overall made me realize i played a good game
No yes...
If they aren’t being observed by the painter, they don’t have little lives they live on their own.
They literally do, the game tells you that explicitly. It's not make-believe, it's an alternate dimension.
Because souls aren’t real. They are just the observation that is experienced by the organ perceiving it. If there is no observation, then there is no existence.
Agree completely. It feels feels empty now. Hate these endings. Also basically killed any chances of other games in this world, if they continue the IP it will have to be in the real world or other matrix worlds in other canvas or whatever the writers create (books, duh).
Maelles body is already withered and weak in the real world from the fire. Renoir himself said that she wouldn't last long in the painting if she didn't leave soon, it wouldn't take centuries for her to die even with the time dilation. That and she's painting constantly which puts more strain on her body, she'll be toast in no time. Not to mention she's been in the painting since her rebirth and did the expedition which put considerable strain on her already.
The story in this game was bad
can't see you
you don't exist
bye bye anon
When I saw the ads for the game I was like, "3 niggas in a row is one thing, but 3 of the SAME NIGGA?"
You seem like a pretentious cockcucker
Will someone please explain the Nevron with the rose?
piranesi
based
No because I chose the correct ending and everyone lived happily ever after :)
Yes, yes I did
Uhhhh Versocels, our response?!
interesting headcannon anon, but the world does indeed keep spinning even when a painter isn't present. Monocco and Esquie talk about this.
In the 14 years from when Verso makes the painting and he is lost in the attack, the painting is just sitting in a basement. There isn’t a little piece of verso painting adventures in there the whole time. If no one is experiencing the painting, nothing is happening. It requires input from the observer. That’s why Clea gives Maelle so much shit, because the real painting was something that her and verso made like a little roblox server they would build obbies in.
THERE FEELNGS COUNT!
but not versos
souls aren’t real
at the very least i think she'd be encouraged by renoir and clea to embrace being a paintress after her experience. she basically got lessons on how to be a decent paintress throughout the game. if not out of love then out of necessity, as the family is down one painter.
i could see her turning away from it though, yeah. it would be funny to imagine her taking up writing from the legacy of writing in gustave's journal and rebel against painting due to how much suffering it caused her
cope, seethe and dialate versotranny
Close to Maelle's 500m+ damage? No, but that is literally overkill territory
Enough damage to one shot everything on Expert? Yes, they can.
t. doesn't know how to use Monochad
Everyone thought Verso did the right thing when he lied about the Paintress, kicked her out of the painting, and got everyone snapped
He does the same thing a few days later, for basically the same reasons, and everyone loses their minds
they would just see a zoomed out Lumiere
Based on what? Every picture we see of the painting looks like a pool of twisting water. You’re talking out your ass
If they aren’t being observed by the painter, they don’t have little lives they live on their own
Not sure where you got this. Talking out your ass again.
There isn’t a little piece of verso painting adventures in there the whole time
there is, in fact, a little piece of verso painting adventures in there the whole time
im alright
He kinda lost that privilege after he merked Lune and Sciel
There isn’t a little piece of verso painting adventures in there the whole time.
Did you just not play the game? There is. They show him to you.
Bro I cried at the start, looking out over the harbor from that starting balcony. The sorrow of it all hit me like a freight train. I don’t usually react like that.
Damn. Could be.
So Renior kills everyone as planned, and its Versos fault?
Okay so i just finished it-
So after Act 2 i thought the gommage was a natural degradation of the world and Aline was the one keeping it in check, with her powers slowly fading away making the periodical finger snaps happen again and again.
But the actual cause is Simon whos beneath the Monolith? And hes like that cause Clea? What the fuck, so she was playing both sides or what, im lost.
why is this woman with 3 kids, 2 of which are grown ass adults, is not a young maiden
Yeah
Renoir is beneath the monolith, taking out everyone to secure their chroma and deny Aline the power to stay in the painting
Clea thinks everyone is stupid and is secretly sad that her fucked up parents are destroying Versos painting
is there any reason to keep the white nevrons alive? i thought i was going for a pacifist ending of sorts but it seems like it doesnt matter in the end. do they drop pictos?
Esquie talks about this in his camp conversations. He explains to Verso that he is nothing like the original little boy that he would play with. Its the same with Noco. He is never going to be the same even after his reincarnation. You are seeing all of this through the poisoned eyes of Maelle which isn’t even her true consciousness because it was overwritten by her mother. The mother hates Maelle because she wants to be a writer, and she only loves the young Verso that painted. She doesn’t care about the 26 years old musician her son grew into. She spends her time with a fake 26 year old son that still loves creation and adventure as if he is stuck in a state of arrested development as a child. We never get to meet the real adult Verso because he never enters the painting.
Renoir was gommaging from under the Monolith. Aline was losing power because she was dying in the real world so she kept having to give up ground by letting some people die off.
There's a side area that rewards you for how many you saved but I don't think there's a point letting them live afterwards.
He is only observed because painters are infusing their chroma into the painting. Imagine a roblox server with no users. The game doesn’t just keep playing itself when no one logs in.

multiple references to pouring heart and SOUL into the creation
Literal fragments of young Verso found around the world
Clearly conscious and aware of what is happening
Stopping the fragment from painting kills the canvas
Somehow this isn't actually Verso's soul
Renoir is gommaging everyone slowly due to Aline still having power, and is doing that as a way of denying her of Chroma so he can force her out of the panting to actually be a fucking mom to her kids and a wife to him instead of staying forever in escapism land, which is slowly killing her actual body outside
Clea just wants her parents to grow the fuck up and actually pay attention to real life and the fact the Writers are scheming to destroy them, and they already took Verso out
Simon was just some failed plain by Clea/Renoir to force Aline out of the painting
Alicia is just a dumb cunt, both before and during the events of the game
Grand ballet begins
Proceeds to be the hardest enemy attack in mankind's history
Yes, you need to entertain the gnostic demiurge against your will
oh cool, ill keep on exploring
Verso's ending has no weight. If you acknowledge the lives of the canvas as real and equal then his ending makes no sense, it's sacrificing thousands of lives for the sake of one family, that's not just a bad trade, that's evil. It only works under the context that the lives of the painted are lesser and don't deserve to live if it means the suffering of one family.
because you fought the gestral arena with someone other than maelle, also fleuret fury is a low damage skill
It's not even the sake of one family, just the dumb worthless whore that Alicia is who's also the weakest member of the family, both mentally and painter skills wise, and physically too what with her deformed self
Maelle is the best at damage in both Act 1 & 3, but for Act 2 she's kinda whatever
Anyways, Medalum is nice but not needed, still a big upgrade over most weapons she has in any chapter outside of maybe 2 of them, one for Act 2 and the other for Act 3
30 hours for main story, 60 if you want to see every location and fight every boss
because you fought the gestral arena with someone other than maelle
I did not
also it's high 1 target damage actually
Verso has an entire life outside of the painting. He isn’t willing the painting constantly into creation. It was just a playground he built as a child. If his soul was trying to keep anything going forever after his body died it would be his music. The mother doesn’t give a shit about music so she ignores the real Verso and lives in a fantasy. That’s why in the monolith you see her with her kids when they are small because that was the only time in her life when they all shared her interests because children are most dependent on their mother when they are young.

Alicia is incredibly strong. She is just a writer, not a painter. The mother just ignores anything else in the world that isn’t painting. She hates every part of her children that doesn’t reflect what she wanted them to become.
i could see that too, but i'm not sure how long it would take for their relationships to recover to the point their suggestions would have real weight for her
she's chill in the ending but i don't think she'd hop on the 'painting is cool' or 'need to keep the family business running' trains without some serious time, if at all
i like envisioning her as a writer ace-up- their-sleeve in the camp of her family during whatever war is happening, with a painting ability to boot
So i guess the next Clair Obscur will be about the Writers then.
The Verso ending is canon suck it up
Verso is a traitorous cunt
helps Monoco to revive Noco and support Monoco's goal of wanting to protect Noco, then has then all erased, and Monoco being a retarded Gestral, hugs Verso for doing this.
promises to help Sciel see her husband again, haha NOPE
Lune should have known better with how many times Verso betrayed them through out the game and shouldn't have allowed Verso the oppertunity.
on top of that, why the fuck was Verso helping everyone to fight Renior at the end? since his goal aligns with Renior. Was it just to give everyone false hope one before he stuck the knife in everyone's back again?
s*Nderson
You play as Renoir and get into the painting to beat the shit out of your retarded daughter.
Literally fucking NOTHING in this story makes sense.
Who painted Verso? Did the real world version kid paint himself before he died in the fire?
Why does the painted version of Maelle have a scarred face while the real one has a normal face? Why can the painted version talk while the original girl outside the painted world just grunts?
What happens to people when they gommage? Do they just cease to exist in that moment or do they go somewhere?
How does time work in the painted world? Esquie talks about how it's been "centuries"
Where do the real world people/objects go while in the painting?
Why are certain people immortal (or seem to be)? Why are certain characters immune to the gommage? So do all the characters with real world variants just have plot armor? Or are they marked as invincible at the time they are painted? How does it work?
Who are Esquie and Monoco? Do they have real world parallels? Were they painted for a particular reason? Why are they immune to gommage?
Why is it said that the Paintress is trying to "save" people by gommaging them? Does it just mean that if she wasn't in charge then Renoir would destroy the entire painting killing everyone and that they should just take what they can get?
Verso said he let Gustavo die, why didn't he just kill Gustavo himself then? I still don't understand how Gustavo dying benefits him, when Gustavo wanted to take down the Paintress, and had the same goal as Verso.
I am assuming the Renoir that kills the expeditioners is the Painted one, not the real one, because the real one actually wants to destroy the Paintress/painted world, while the fake one serves the Paintress?
Why does the Paintress have the year timer and why does it go down every year? Is it because there is a limited number of chroma, so you have to gommage some people or else run out of chroma, and this is the best system she could find? Why doesn't she try to communicate in some way that she is on their side instead of against them?
beating all these "don't you dare fight it" bosses with ease
get to the beach platforming
literally quit and just leave it
WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING
you already posted this
yes and no one could actually answer it. This game has like 50+ plot holes
Monoco and Esquie are made by kid verso to always be his friends
My verso was wrecking shit and maelle couldn’t keep up, but I didn’t build her to keep up. She just another strong character who does good damage like Lune and G/V, my main 3, unless you beat a certain tournament and get a certain weapon, and then use her insanely busted move that you wouldn’t expect to do insane damage so you might not buy it for ages unless you spoil this kind of info before you play it blind.
What would happen if Maelle and Maruki teamed up?
No, they are real world objects brought in. Nothing painted is invincible, only things that are brought into the painting
you lying nigger the 6th post does
he was on e33's side until he saw how fucked alina was irl and realized how deceitful alicia was being with renoir about not being mindcucked and living eternally in the canvas
the cherry on top was two minutes later asking the actual canvas painter, lil soul verso, if he wanted to stop and he communicated yes
What a hypocrite. He's nothing but deceitful the whole game
All of this is explained, play the game (or pay fucking attention).
My actual complain of the game is that EVERYTHING is explained, nothing is let to imagination.
Didn't Monoco say that kid verso made him to always be his friend and that's why he can't abandon him regardless of what he does?
wheel of time
based
Jap dub when? Or would they see it as a humiliation ritual?
Yeah there was an entire dungeon that explained this.
Nice
Who do guys wants for the inevitable dlc party member?
so why DID the gommage only affect humans? if renoir is trying to erase the canvas, why is he only erasing humans instead of everything
yeah but this deceit from alicia was fucking over his sort-of dad, sort-of mom, sort-of sisters and sort-of himself both soul- and fake-wise
alicia's deceit really only benefits her sort-of, and fully to sciel and lune assuming they were never cloned
the rest of lumiere is facsimiled from her subpar and degrading painting skills
which will likely fuck over sciel, lune and her happy ending anyway
He's erasing specifically what Aline created to force her out. Gestrals were made by Verso, Nevrons by Clea.
gustave
I think he was specifically gommaging Alina's chroma so so only her creations aka humans were targeted. Gestrals were Versos creations and Clea created the Nevrons.
diddy kong
Unfortunately, bringing him back at this point I feel would just cheapen his role in the story
We were robbed so hard.
You were beaten kek
Finally... I can kill myself...
Who'd you guys use as a third when having both Maelle and Sciel in the party?
i cant bring myself to wrap things up, it's gonna take hours........ and i dont wanna switch off expert, i probably wont be able to handle some of the stuff
SHE'S HOLDING OUT ON US
my wife lune even though she was essentially a cheerleader by the endgame
All of these except the lv 99, journals and music records are completed in normal gameplay tho?
And they fucking DIED. So what
imagine Expedition 60 with a Lumina Converter.
they would rip and tear their way into the reality.
She could still never capture verso's soul in the new canvas.
Why did the gommage happen after killing the Paintress?
Who initiated it and what are the specifics? Why was there such a massive delay between killing the Paintress and the gommage happening all the way back when t hey finally reached Lumiere?
Expedition 60: Escape from the Canvas
play the game, this entirely gets explained
The beginning of the first act up to Gustave almost an heroing was pure bleak kino made me wish the story was as straightforward as we were led to believe.
Gustave. I miss him.
Renoir is responsible for the gommage
Why was there such a massive delay between killing the Paintress and the gommage happening
cinematic effect
I already beat Act 2, this is not explained at all and makes zero sense. There is a ton of plot holes.
here's your card
Finish the game?
What the fuck are you talking about, You literally are told the gommage is caused by renoir. And it was aline holding it back, there isnt plot holes, you didnt pay attention at all
Clea did literally nothing wrong. Alicia is responsible for destroying the family and she deserves to be bullied for it.
So Renoir is doing all the gommages, but the Paintress just so happens to be able to conveniently manipulate exactly who he is killing with the gommage to be exactly this range of people she wants. How..?
Also, why the fuck wouldn't she gommage Axons, gestrals, or neverons. They are made of chroma all the same.
Paintress is trying to hold it back, renoir is intentionally targetting her creations with the gommage.
Reach the Monolith
Half the journals still missing
No one actually believed this.
What are the implications of that bit where the boss in the desert looking place mind fucks all the party members and makes them see people they love or care about or whatever and Verso sees NOTHING.
Engaging with a (You) whore
This guy literally made an entire thread to farm (Yous) with obvious bait and some of you fags still can't help yourselves.
Aline can't do the gommages, the power of death is only renoirs. The gestrals are verso's creation. Which both aline and renoir dont want to harm. The nevrons are on renoirs side as clea made them to help him.
EVERYONE PLEASE HELP US THERE'S AN THREAD WHERE AN ANON IS HURT WE NEED HELP
EVERYONE PLEASE HELP US THERE'S AN THREAD WHERE AN ANON IS HURT WE NEED HELP
Speedreader or literally retarded?
Aline kept Renoir locked beneath the Monolith to reduce his power, and she uses her own waning power to limit the range of people Renoir can gommage, starting with the oldest, also as a bitter warning to the people of Lumiere
why the fuck wouldn't she gommage Axons, gestrals, or neverons. They are made of chroma all the same.
Because Renoir is the one actually doing it, and those beings are of no concern to Aline, who cares only about her human creations, not shit shat by child Verso or Renoir.
Renoir is doing it because he wants Aline out of the painting so she stops killing herself and going mad and goes back to being a mother to her real children and a wife to him
Literally all of this is explained
Again retard: the husband is doing the gommage. So how the fuck is the wife just able to say
"nuh uh, I want you to gommage only this specific group that are humans that are this many years old"
And he just says
"ok, sure thing honey!"
Again, it's so fucking stupid and nonsensical. Also, if she can control it, why not direct it to gestrals, neverons, and Axons that have a shit ton of chroma all the same?
The gestrals are verso's creation. Which both aline and renoir dont want to harm.
If (real) Renoir wants the whole painting destroyed to save his real family, why the fuck would he care at all about (real) Verso's creations when everything will be wiped out when the painted world disappears anyways?
It means that Verso was lying when he said he liked trains.
What a bitch.
Alicia is a dumb cunt, but Renoir & most importantly Aline are the ones truly responsible for that.
At least you can excuse Alicia with the fact she's a literally deformed stupid teenager, what's Renoir & Aline's excuses? They're grown ass adults, to the point Clea is the only non mentally ill, still functioning member of the family at that point
Renoir and Aline (and Alicia later) are content to be in their make believe land fighting over nonsense while Writerchads are out to get them in real life and only Clea cares about actually protecting her real family
If there is a DLC, I hope it is about them. Either them or another of the expeditions, like 69.
Becausue thats all her power can protect can do. Every year she gets weaker, and instead of giving up she makes it target the older. Play the fucking game you dumbfuck. Calling other retards, when your stupid ass literally gets this shit shoved in your face and explained.
I mean up to that point who had he even lost? His entire painted family was still alive, his best buds were alive, and his new expedition friends were alive. I know he had a thing with a chick from another expedition but I think he was over her considering what she did to him
Renoir:
grrr I hate you, I am going to gommage a bunch of people to destroy your world.
Aline:
nuh uh, you can only kill humans that are this exact age
Renoir:
yes master
This is so fucking stupid and contrived.
And how the fuck does Renoir destroying people actually destroy the painted world? That is his end goal after all, to save his real world family. The only way to destroy the painted world is by destroying the Paintress herself, how the fuck is gommaging a shit load of people going to cause that?
this entire thing is retarded and i'm not going to deal with your shit
i'll be doing actual important work until you fucks are done with your little pity party
If (real) Renoir wants the whole painting destroyed to save his real family, why the fuck would he care at all about (real) Verso's creations when everything will be wiped out when the painted world disappears anyways?
Because killings the gestrals does nothing to get aline out. Their chroma is controlled only by verso, so destroying them does nothing to aline, while targetting her creations allows him to take their chroma and weaken her.
Clea looks like a man.
Make a post in reddit, maybe you'll get more upvotes than here.
He has lost way too much and is jaded as hell yet knows it's not real
oh so he is siphoning chroma from the gommages to gain power and weaken her? ok that makes more sense. The chroma thing wasn't explained very well.
How does Maelle recreate Sciel and Lune with such a tiny amount of Chroma, yet acts like it's inconceivable to recreate Gustavo no matter how much chroma they harvest?
Aline is more powerful at that point than Renoir, except she's slowly losing her power each year while Renoir gets stronger
Renoir isn't accepting it, he's just not strong enough to gommage everyone until Aline is out of the painting
And how the fuck does Renoir destroying people actually destroy the painted world
It doesn't, Renoir doesn't give a shit about the painted world, what it does is fucking force Aline out because she'll be out of Chroma and out of creations she actually likes, powerless to stop him from doing so and sending her ass back to the real world which is what she wants
he only has enough strength to destroy her oldest creations
it's a woman can't have a jaw episode
She will bear me many strong french children.
Clea is 33 and her sister is 16. Very large sibling age gap.
Maelle is still a painter, she has that power, however she is very inexperienced and limited. Gustavo has been dead for longer and its probably alot harder, in her ending she does bring him back though. So its a skill issue.
No that's not it according to other posters. The whole thing is just poorly thought out handwavey "interpret however makes even the slightest modicum of sense" so it doesn't really matter
bad ending.jpg
went with Verso even though still pissed about our guy dying because of him
he prob would have sided with Verso to save Maelle
she should have showed up and slapped everyone shit
just beat the game so gonna continue to explore
even after gommaging 67 expeditions, real Renoir is still too weak to take on the paintress?
Renoir wanted cute daughter, decided to make one
Honestly I hated Clea at first, but after finishing the game and going through these threads, I'm starting to think she's literally the only sane person in her family.
Is it just me or does Sophie look just like Clea?
If anything what's weird is Renoir didn't pump Aline full of little painters what with it being inspired by Paris in the late 1800s or whatever
Only 3 kids for a late 1800s rich, prestigious family sounds quite unrealistic
I still don't understand why Verso let Gustave die
Gustave was trying to kill the paintress with all the other expeditioners, he had a similar goal. And if that wasn't Verso's goal, why the fuck wouldn't Verso just attempt to kill all the expeditioners including Gustave himself?
Possibly he thought Gustave would get in his way if he was alive
Pierre was so lucky
Sophie and Gustave are reincarnations of Clea and Simon.
Yep, that moment summoned tears.
The revelation that Esquie and Monoco are Verso's childhood imaginary friends brought to life is just one of the sweetest, dearest ideas in the story. It felt like Christopher Robin having to say goodbye to Pooh and Tigger, with the Canvas as his Hundred Acre Wood.
She does and there's already a 2deep4u theory that there's a limited amount of chroma in the painting world pointing out how Sophie and Gustave are quite similar in looks to painted Clea and Simon
some anon always posts the comparison pics
You're better than this.
He saw him as irrelevant, yet another expedition member dying.
I'm curious now if you could throw people from the real world into the painting and trap them there.
Verso literally says why he let Gustave die in his convo with Maelle if you tell the truth.
They both have the same goal and he is an expeditioner like all the others that Verso literally starts working with five minutes after Gustave's death.
How the fuck does that make any sense?
Doesn't he say because it was easier to manipulate Maelle into what he wanted?
adachi please go
because he's a sneaky manipulative cunt and wanted to be able to groom maelle, he would have let the others die as well
No, in Maelle's timeline he admits that he let him die purposely. Even if he didn't really care, he would still want to save expeditioners because they have common goals (like, you know, the expeditioners he literally works with five minutes after Gustave's death)
theres only room enough for one older brother figure
Yeah this ending was just too sweet and perfect. A final sendoff for both the fake and real Verso. I can't bring myself to do the Maelle ending anymore, not even for the cheevo.
It makes sense that painting beings wouldn't give birth to new designs. It would take what is already painted and recycle it. Like how a gestral is reborn as the same person but different.
Ackkstually, you dont actually go inside the painting your body is still in the real world.
well yeah but I mean could you trap someone's mind in the painting or whatever
that's basically what clea does to alicia
Theres no cheevo for that doe (thank god).
Simon even has an attack very similar to Gustave's overcharge
Yeah it would make sense, especially when we know how Alicia was reborn as Maelle
Who painted Verso?
Aline did as a way to cope about real Versos death
Why does the painted version of Maelle have a scarred face while the real one has a normal face?
Because Aline blames Alicia for causing the death of Verso so she punishes her painted version, and because Maelle has superpowers in the canvas and can paint herself to be able to talk there
What happens to people when they gommage?
they die for all intents and purposes except they're all beings created by literal magic anyways so can be brought back
How does time work in the painted world?
In a mucn much faster way than real world at least for Painters
Where do the real world people/objects go while in the painting?
Wherever they want if Painters
Why are certain people immortal (or seem to be)?
Because Aline literally painted her fake obscene family to be immortal
Who are Esquie and Monoco?
Esquie is a doll in the real world, Monoco is a dog in the real world, both were painted by child Verso as his friends
Why is it said that the Paintress is trying to "save" people by gommaging them?
She's trying to slow Renoir from gommaging them all
Verso said he let Gustavo die, why didn't he just kill Gustavo himself then?
Probably because Verso wasn't spying on Gustave 24/7 and Verso thought it would be easier to have Malle align with his goals without Gustave there who was her most trusted companion
I am assuming the Renoir that kills the expeditioners is the Painted one,
Obviously, since real Renoir wants the Paintress out, while painted Renoir wants to protect his family inside the Painting
Why does the Paintress have the year timer and why does it go down every year?
Because her waning powers means she can't stop Renoir from killing everyone, only delay it starting with the weakest
Stop replying to to yourself. No one but you believes your shitty theory.
Just finished the game a few minutes ago and something happened on the final boss' final attack that confused me.
First time I reached it, Renoir powers up and starts flying around, then wiped my party with an AoE.
Second time, I had an insanely fortunate run up to that point - took no hits, he entered phase 2 stunned, and never even got to summon the Dessandre Canvas until he hit his final health wall.
But when he started the big powerup final attack that wiped me, Maelle interrupted and killed him as he started flying, saying "not this time".
Was this a reward for doing a perfect fight up to that point, or was this some borderline-4th-wall-break where Maelle remembered what he did last attempt at the boss through Paintress hax?
Why yes, I did choose the Maelle ending.
No, I do not feel bad about it.
need more on Expedition 60
that scene always plays when you bring him to 0hp
Why is "Real Maelle" hair white?
Alicia's hair is shown to still be red and if the fire had damaged it she would be outright bald or missing hair than having white hair
probably some painter shit when they are in the canvas
Verso might be a lying cunt but Alicia needs to be thrown the fuck out of the canvas.
It's cool
Why did painted Renoir let painted Alicia stalk Maelle at camp? Painted Alicia already has issues what with her being disfigured and knowing she's a copy of someone else. Seems kinda cruel to let her get close to the real version of her.
Act 2 isnt the end of the game you giant fucking moron
be honest, would you marry crispy Alicia?
Verso! It's 4PM, time for your piano concert!
nigga act 3 is literally just a single bossfight outside of roaming the overworld for endgame/side content. The only story progression/explanation is literally just one fight with REnoir.
Cause he loves her and lets her do what she wants. Even if its a bad idea.
Right, but it was different between runs.
Attempt #1 - he powered up, flew around for about 30s talking to Aline before doing a final AoE
Attempt #2 - he powers up, took off and got about 3 seconds into the flight before Maelle says "not this time" and kills him before any dialogue happens, stopping the final AoE.
So are you saying I did more damage on attempt #2 and he was truly at 0 health for that one, but not the first?
Probably because painted Alicia wanted to do it regardless and painted Renoir is shown to be very caring and protective like hugging her during it all anyways
yeah but she'd have to get an eye patch
Not enough crispy
she has a tranny face
What did the 33rd of December mean?
who had he even lost
The woman he loved that he burried in the same place as Gustave? Theres even journals that talk about how much he loved her
I was left with impression that he left him die because he didn't care but being calculated move seems to be the true intention.
he doesn't 'let her', he tries to keep her away and accuses verso of leading her there
he looks like a man who's being forced to have sex with a woman he doesn't love
Cradle sister
SO fucking based.
Only Verso because he's a dumb cunt and deserves to be in hell for being a compulsive liar.
If she gets a glass eye yeah. No clue why they're letting her live every day without one cause I'm pretty sure glass eyes were pretty decent even during that time period. Or at least an eye patch or something.
That was years ago. He probably got over it. Not sure why he would have any lingering feelings for her anyway considering she tortured him and he killed her.
Maelle ending sucks for her worse because can't erase her own memories so she will always know she is dying in a made up world.
Writers being cheeky
Verso says he went white haired very early. Its a family thing
Fantasy loves this idea that someone is still longing after their lover of 50-100+ years ago despite them being rather young and immortal
oh i see, i instakilled him with stendhal and got your second attempt so maybe it is a different scene
He isn’t willing the painting constantly into creation.
The fragment of his soul you see in the ending is doing exactly that. Which is why Verso stops him from painting.
I find crispy Alicia more likable and with mask she is 10/10 when it comes to aesthetics
And it explains the part you were crying about. You are still a moron.
It's the day Painter genocide will happen by Writerchads
I thought he said that because of the fact he was immortal and 60+ by the time you meet him
Masonic messaging, its not for you to understand
No i think its real, and its the only real explaination if why alicia is also white haired. Clea might be too but dyes it
has the power to yank everyone out of the canvas
instead turns it into a game for her sister
Devilish
probably a hint the "outside" world isnt real and is a world created by the Wriggers
I see it as a final confirmation that this is truly a fictional setting with an alternate history and not just our world but with the Painters/Writers added in.
The only one that takes hours is getting to 99. Go into Renoir's drafts and fight the Gestral Merchant there over and over. Fastest way to 99.
Why are Esquie and Monoco not targeted by Renoir's gommage after the Paintress dies?
Why doesn't the Paintress just redirect the gommage towards the expeditioners that are actively trying to kill her?
Why doesn't the paintress communicate in any way that she isn't the real enemy, that Renoir is the one trying to destroy everything? She doesn't think that after 67 years of them trying to send expeditions to kill her that maybe her current method isn't working very well?
Is the Curator the real Renoir (or some painting made by the real Renoir) who is aiding the expeditioners in the hopes they will destroy the paintress?
Why I don't get is why did Aline turn Alicia into a baby/Maelle especially since she was still having roastie tier moments over Alicia, and why she welcomed the party inside her domain at the Monolith
Or is just handwaved because she was already mentally unhinged by then from too much canvas dust?
Alicia's room is filled with books and shit instead of art
Alicia wasn't just an innocent victim of the writers she really is responsible.
Alicia sure turned terrifying quick when she got power. Remember how cold she looked when she killed painted Alicia right in front of Verso
Or the fact that the game throws out the "since you lived as us, maybe you'll choose the third option and save the day Maelle!" only for her to go "yeah fuck that" and end up just doing the same thing as her mom
Game was brave to do that
Because monoco and esquie were made by verso, Paintress has zero control over gommage that is renoirs power.
Why doesn't the paintress communicate in any way that she isn't the real enemy, that Renoir is the one trying to destroy everything? She doesn't think that after 67 years of them trying to send expeditions to kill her that maybe her current method isn't working very well?
Good question... One expedition however does find out about this.
Is the Curator the real Renoir (or some painting made by the real Renoir) who is aiding the expeditioners in the hopes they will destroy the paintress?
....Did you play the game?
They will die either way. The moment Maelle dies or looks like she's dying, Renoir will jump back in and try to erase the canvas again. And since Maelle is nowhere near as powerful as her mom or sister, the canvas gets nuked.
Why should it matter? Its two lives compared to countless.
Paintress has zero control over gommage that is renoirs power.
Yes she clearly does... that's why she redirects it to only those that are the oldest and warns them beforehand.
....Did you play the game?
Yes, you clearly didn't because you don't even know that the Paintress is manipulating Renoir's gommage
How is Renoir retarded? He's trying to stop his wife and daughter from killing themselves.
Yes, you clearly didn't because you don't even know that the Paintress is manipulating Renoir's gommage
The curator literally turns into fucking real renoir. No you did not play the game or you wouldnt ask such a stupid question about something that happens INFRONT OF YOUR EYES
When does this happen? I have beat everything except going to Lumiere with the final fight with Renoir (and of course a bunch of overworld shit unrelated to the story). I am in Act 3.
Verso is the little boy next to her in the ending. If you do the painted world sidequest, Verso says he'd want to live in the world without all the fighting. Maelle makes that a reality. The only wrong thing is her forcing painted Verso to live too because she can't let go of her big brother.
Renoir specifically targets older beings first because like irl they are weaker in the canvas. They roughly explain that each being maintained there by her has a cost associated with it, and she doesn't have the strength to keep bringing them back so instead she is forced to protect younger people each year as she grows weaker.
meanwhile he's ignoring reality the same as them and letting his other daughter fight alone in the real world
Did you somehow forget, in act 2 when maelle sees the curator turn into renoir?
Frankly the only part that feels really stupid is that you'd probably be able to force someone out of the painting with ease by just fucking around with their body which remains utterly defenceless outside anyways
Writerchads be winning
Gustave would try to convince Maelle to not leave the canvas once she finds out who she really is. If Maelle has fewer attachments, she has less reason to stay.
Replaying this game is crazy. They had so many moments you won't notice
He got trapped in the canvas by Aline though. He wanted to destroy it and got buried. Otherwise he'd have immediately destroyed it and forced everyone to grieve.
That's probably why Aline was so pissed with them as well. They were in the middle of a magical war while her family was playing magical VR chat, instead.
No she isn't. Alicia is the reason everything went wrong. She got manipulated by the writers which led to them killing Verso with the fire. Clea is obsessed with making them pay
Why would you care? The canvas is as real as any 'real' world is, and superior in every way given your powers there and the elongated lifespan. In reality, most people would have chosen the Maelle route even if they had a completely normal real life. Hook me into the Matrix any day.
WTF
how is Verso getting gommaged when he is supposed to be invincible, this is a HUGE plot hole. That is the entire crux of the story that Verso is doing all this shit because he was painted invincible and can't be killed in any conventional way without the whole painting being destroyed
Considering all we know about them is that they're enemies of the Dessandres who are all psychopaths, they have to be the good guys.
Knowing Gustave, I fully believe he would’ve sided with Verso at the end. Maelle’s wellbeing meant more than anything else to him.
That's because the game time doesn't count how many times you died at bosses, since it just reloads your autosave.
I don't think Gustave would since he also legit cared about the people of Lumiere and Verso's ending means Gustave's entire world dies.
Verso is supposed to be invincible and immune to gommages, so that part doesn't actually make sense.
After all the whole purpose of Verso wanting to destroy the paintress is just so he can destroy the whole painted world so he can finally die in peace.
Verso is not invincible, he is immortal.
Once Aline's out of the canvas the chroma being used to sustain him is now controllable by Renoir.
But the game is more like FFX than FF8
Banged Sciel immediately once she offered
She told me I'm just a fling and I still kept doing it
Find out this locked me out of banging Lune
That was evil game.
He was immune to the gommage up to that point because the Paintress was present and able to cover for him. With her out of the painting, Renoir was the one with the most control. He probably picked up on that and was looking forward to finally dying before Maelle dragged him back into it.
No the point is that he was painted as invincible, and can't be killed by gommage.
If you are saying only the Paintress could kill him, that doesn't make sense because Renoir is doing the gommage and Paintress is redirecting it, and why wouldn't the Paintress just gommage him since he is running counter to her goals and wants to destroy her entire painted world?
Didn't he say smth along the lines "fuck the expedition, taking Maelle home"?
No the point is that he was painted as invincible, and can't be killed by gommage.
He was invincible, because he had aline powering him. She cant power him when she isnt there.
i rejected sciels advances anticipating that but it bugged or something and i was locked out of lunes as well
Paintress just gommage
how many times do we need to explain to your stupid ass, that the paintress cannot gommage?
Gommage is the act of Renoir reclaiming chroma within the painting, Aline went into the canvas with the sole purpose of rebuilding her family and living another live with the son she lost, she's not going to just immediately gommage him and lose him again! Not when she can no longer use chroma that is being redirected to Renoir and paint another Verso.
Aline would want to kill Verso though since he is trying to destroy her world, so why wouldn't she just gommage him?
ALSO, Renoir clearly has way, way stronger painting powers than Maelle, so how the fuck is she able to repair him in that moment?
ALSO ALSO, if Renoir and Verso have aligned goals (both want to see the painted world destroyed), why the fuck is he even targeting Verso at all? He is literally his biggest ally.
You ever see a really good painting in real life? One that captures your attention, shows you a beautiful and vivid world and as your eyes travel along it, you see the edge of the canvas and you remember it's just a painting?
The game's intentionally working to evoke that feeling. The cognitive dissonance of a world art can put your mind in and the realization that said world is purely an illusion. It's up to you whether you let knowledge of the world being fake make it matter more or less to you.
Renoir clearly has way, way stronger painting powers than Maelle
Renoir himself is weakened from staying so long in the canvas
I assumed the recreation of one of the gods of the fake artificial world having a leonine motif was something a bit more on the nose.
Fuck this boss, fuck chromatic dancers, and fuck visage
This made me feel bad. Sciel just accepted death in a "you fucked me over again" way but man Lune hated your guts for screwing her over twice.
punish her by gommaging the entire world
nothing personnel sciel
why didnt Maelle resurrect Gustave earlier or have the choice to not resurrect either Sciel or Lune for him
I'm autistic and can't tell if your post is sarcastic or not
ff8 beats you over the head with lion symbolism throughout the entire game culminating in one of the bosses form transformations
destroy the canvas how? How do you destroy an entire fictional world? I thought Renoir's goal was just to sabotage her world enough that she decides to leave and accept her real life.
And how is real-world Alicia/Maelle "reborn as one of Aline's creations"? She is just reborn as herself, the masked girl Alicia is the painted version that is "one of Aline's creations"
What happens when you introduce paper to fire?
So why does Gustave fight like Verso? Why are they so similar?
Is it just me or does Sophie look just like Clea?
It's intentional.
en.wikipedia.org
And don't get me started on her boyfriend, pic rel...
If they want to destroy the canvas, just grab a match and burn it in the real life version? I don't understand.
I rejected Sciel and was going to reject Lune too but she raped me. I legit thought they were going to work on music.
Because they place apart of their soul inside it when their are in it. Torching it while they are still in probably would kill them.
Is he still playing the piano? Is he HAPPY
I recently learned that the dev is a big ff8 fan and wondered if he put the lion there as a reference since Renoir wasn't associated with lions before. If there was an association, however, I must have missed it.
this game just comes up with the most stupid contrived bullshit
This is not remotely contrived, they can make magical paintings, and by imbuing a part of thereself they bring it to life. This not complicated at all.
nigga that makes literally no fucking sense, they are just making bullshit up at this point
Is this your first time hearing about magic?
just finally sold out and watched this terrible Maelle ending
she should be euthanized. for everyone's sake. there's no saving that reprehensible little bitch
inb4 a sequel that would lead into.
they are just making bullshit up at this point
its......almost like its a fantasy story
The wrong Dessendre died.
No wonder tv adaptations dumb down stories, you people are dumb
true. and looking at it that way, it also makes me like Verso a bit less because he made the mistake of saving her. so at least there's that much closure in the ending I suppose.
at least Clea knows the truth about them, that they're all pathetic idiots.
Renoit controlled the chroma in the canvas once Aline got kicked out and she was only able to resurrect sciel/lune because she grabbed their chroma right before fleeing Lumiere with Verso.
I like grounded stories with consistent internal logic. Not convoluted, poorly explained bullshit full of plotholes and just handwaved away with "IT'S LE MAGIC!!!"
Just look at how maelle fags seethe at everyone who chose Verso
It would be the same but with her close family for the rest of her life
Simply not worth the trouble
AIIIEEE VERSO MON AMI DON'T LOOK!
There is zero plotholes, why are you intentionally being retarded?
I can think of at least a dozen
You mean the ones you already posted and we went over, showing you were entirely wrong?
Dumbfuck questions that are explained ingame
Same writing style
Hmmmm.....
I beggining to think
Its just one guy schizoing out
clea's autistic family ruined her game. theres not much else to take away from this game since this premise was explored better in FFTA
it is, he is even posting in multiple threads
Name one thing she did wrong though
Because it's who Maelle was attached to the most. Having her father/brother figure die in front of her made her much more easy to manipulate since she was focused on revenge now. She didn't care to ask questions anymore.
Clea is the one who sent Alicia into the painting to begin with and doesn't sound surprised when she gets remade by Aline. We know very little about her or what her intentions are.
Maelle then lives a new life only knowing her new world, I don't know how you can blame her for caring more about the souls in the painting than her real family of psychopaths.
is that a PIANO?!?!
AIIEEEEEEEEEE IM GOING INSANEEEEEE
You failed the dps check, so he actually killed you with his move. 2nd time you passed the dps check.
You mean the contrived handwavey nonanswers that fanboy shills tried to give? Literally tripping over their words and conflicting with other shills in this very thread?
Right...
They were supremely based.
either speedtrannies or speedwatchers
fuck he got me, let me shitout some copes
k
forced the self-aware zombie posing as her brother and burdened with all his memories to go on living purely because she selfishly wanted him to, despite the fact he had already suffered for over 100 years. but now, even worse, she made him grow old and feel the pains and again and suffer through that too, when she could have just let him go and also freed herself in the process. fucking miserable CUNT jesus christ I'm mad I watched the shit. I'm gonna have to watch the real Verso ending again to try and wash away this rotten taste.
she's the biggest fucking psychopath of all of them! she needs to be put down! hopefully Clea euthanized her for her own good and for the good of the rest of her family so that they can all finally fucking move on being forced to lose TWO children.
I don’t care what Verso wants anymore
Verso did nothing wrong. He is the Je'RPG Solidus.
Not realising Verso was right to let Gustave die
Not recognising the irony that Gustave would agree with Verso
Tu es au-delà de la lumière de Dieu mon ami
Play.
The fucking.
Piano.
he let Gustave die because he was trying to save Maelle A SECOND TIME even though he wasn't even the real Verso.
so yes, I can agree in the sense that he should never have saved Alicia in the first place, should have let the dumb little bitch burn up and saved himself. world would have been better off for it.
NOOOOOOOOOO NO I DONT WANT TO PLAY
There was no way Gustave would sacrifice his entire world for Maelle alone, he's not that type of obssessed retard
He's shown caring for Sophie, his apprentices, his sister, and the people of Lumiere as a whole
it's For Those Who Come After, not just For Maelle for a reason
I am impressed at how well the frogs managed to make Verso radiate pure seethe and suffering
I dunno about you anons but this "you gonna play the fucking piano" meme is cracking me up.
Maelle fags are children
noooo if you take her meth away she'll be sad :(
I mean in the real world, yeah, going cold turkey generally hurts an addict more. There is a reason rehabs slowly weens them off.
you gonna play the FUCKING piano
noooo if you give Verso a piano he’ll be sad :(
if you take away people's free will so they worship a selfish drug addicted psychopathic god they'll be sad
Yes?
all of those people were dead in the end.
"Those who come after" are other creations by Maelle when she grows up
Maelle is a better person than Verso thoughever
has anyone ever before hit this level of smug.
And in the game that's not how it works
Your choice is literally let her do meth until she overdoses while bending the free will of anyone that doesn't keep her dopamine paradise going or remove the meth.
If that was your take you are retarded
Maelle is a selfish brat. Verso was willing to keep the canvas going if she left and would come back later
Verso doesn't deserve free will, everyone else seems to be happy in her ending
And that is why the endings narratively fail. For a story about dealing and overcoming grief, they get it wrong right at the end.
You ever notice how Versofags can only argue by making up fanfiction?
No one in Maelle's ending is a real person, they're just a copy.
She wanted Alicia to fix the shit she caused so she can focus on enacting righteous vengeance on wrigger scum.
If anything Maelle/Alicia is the kind of self obssessed roastie who would probably demand Gustave only think about her after gaining the power to do so
You can bet she secretly has a harem of Gustaves catering to her every whim in Maelle Ending as the canvas goddess
I liked them both until watching both the endings
Anyone who can still be a "Maellefag" after watching her ending deserves to be berated
Fanfiction? Only a filthy wrigger would know about that...
Maellefags:
NOOO YOU CAN'T ERASE A WORLD OF LIVING PEOPLE!!!
IT'S TOTALLY OKAY FOR THEM TO BE ENSLAVED BY A LITTLE GIRL THAT'S A GOD IN THEIR UNIVERSE!!!!!!!
Maelle ending is objectively the bad one. The story's main message was moving on past grief and not let it consume you. Maelle's ending would lead to more tragedy as she'd end up killing herself like her mother was if she stayed in the painting, and then Renoir was just going to wipe the canvas anyway.
In a sense Verso's ending is hopeful because we're told through stuff like the Reacher and Renoir driving the point that she's young and has untapped potential. If she lives on there's the possibility of creating whole new worlds inspired by this one she liked so much.
but she knows Alicia won't be able to fix anything if even she and Renoir can't
Verso's ending handles it well, actually. The Dessandre in Verso's ending are still obviously sad, and Clea is obviously still focused on revenge (I assume revenge will be the theme of the next game), but they finally have each other now. It is a bittersweet ending, which is encapsulated by the melancholic but hopeful song that accompanies it.
no argument
I accept your concession druggy
Maellefags are the type to have to buy a third 8gb SSD because they have never uninstalled a game in their lives
everyone else seems to be happy in her ending
There's something extremely sus about showing her idyllic happily ever after with her friends, Gustave and Sophie et al, when they should all be aware that they're on borrowed time, Alicia's body is dying outside, and once she's dead Renoir and Clea will destroy their world anyway, if they don't pop in to drag her out first which could happen any moment.
Just imagine. Alicia becomes the god of the world and THEN the Dessendre insano genes really kick in.
Literally nothing says this
That's a good thing, retard
maelle fags missed the point this much
Let go
Who said that they’re enslaved? Nobody, you made it up
her ending makes Renoir saying "I'll... leave the light on for you..." right before the last scenes so so sad too. in that moment he knew he was just letting her go and likely he was never going to get her back, there was no making her see anything other than despair.
because Verso would rather play the piano than summon a picto sword and try to kick Maelle out, right?
Because I give a fuck how Verso feels?
It's called "implication" and "allegories"
it implies a drug addict has power over the people in the painted world.
considering the last forced eviction attempt resulted in a stendhaled asshole, probably
Why do Maelle and Verso look older but no one else does, especially Gustave's Apprentice?
Imply these nuts, faggot
Why didn't the Paintress just communicate with the people that she's not the enemy, Renoir is? Maelle even leaves a custom message up there, yet for 67 years, the paintress made zero effort to communicate and let the hordes of people trying to kill her know that she's actually on their side and Renoir is the real enemy??
The only people in the Maelle ending that are their original selves are Verso (painting), Maelle, Monoco, Esquie, Francois, and the gestrals
Everyone else is just a copy. It's explained in Monoco's character quests that even IF you have all the original chroma of the person and their body, bringing them back is more like reincarnation and it's not the same person you knew. Similarly, when Maelle is resurrecting the Expeditioners to help with the final battle they aren't conscious, they're just toy soldiers.
Everyone in her ending is just a puppet
I don't really agree. As you start doing more and more bonus content you start to realize how tiny and obviously envisioned by a child the world is.
That kid isn't Gustave's apprentice, it's painter Verso.
And Maelle is keeping everyone the same age as she knew them, so they get their eternal happy endings. She's probably relived this same moment hundreds of times.
Verso is a good boy.
Verso will never try to hurt his sister wife mistress
Aline isn't exactly sane, anon.
AAAARGH!
AAAAAAHHHHHH!
because she's keeping the whole in-painting universe in a state of suspended animation because she's a psychotic fucking bitch
god i hope they injected her with something to just let her die peacefully while she stands there in front of the canvas and this is just some afterlife hallucination she's having
We can safely assume he painted others yet this one's the only one with a piece of his soul.
Nah, he only painted one because he preferred music
is that why the gestrals lose their memories but no time passed for sciel and lune?
eternal
10 years til her body kicks the bucket and the canvas is thrown into a fire
Not that the people are people, they're just puppet clones to make her happy.
carefully and meticulously redirects the gommage to just this specific age of people every single year
making any form of communication or custom message, or even just painting people that can explain her side to lumiere is totally out of the question though
But Verso's ending is the only one WITH an after. All Maelle is doing is stalling the world being destroyed since Renoir is going to have to burn the painting to keep his dumbass wife out
I mean, we meet her at the top of the Monolith. She's completely cuckoo.
What is the problem here?
Verso liked music, so our loving Goddess gave him music to play.
That kid isn't Gustave's apprentice, it's painter Verso
source?
Verso rejected his Painter heritage and preferred music.
Which is why the piano ending is so twisted and tragic
Why doesn’t Maelle just kill Renoir, is she stupid?
It's explained that the revived Expeditioners are created imperfectly, unlike Sciel and Lune who retained their souls and memories
He looks nothing like any of the apprentices we already saw and met. He does look like Verso though.
versofags need to create headcanon to justify siding with jrpg villains annihilating their creations to satisfy the needs of the higher order
Yes, Sciel and Lune died with the gommage, act 3 Sciel and Lune are just how Maelle remembers them
Now this is speculation, but I think it's hinted that they're not even the same people because in the act 3 companion conversations Sciel goes from missing Pierre but being hesitant to talk about him with Verso to outright telling Verso she'd sacrifice him without question to bring Pierre back, because what Maelle remembers of Sciel is her love of Pierre. Similarly Lune becomes extremely 1 dimensional about missing her parents. It feels like they've become more shallow versions of the characters based on what Maelle remembers about them
That kid isn't Gustave's apprentice, it's painter Verso.
Nah, that's some headcanon. It's that kid that is given Gustave's journal.
Once She and Aline die there is no longer a reason to destroy the canvas.
They are people, the game explains that the beings in the painting have souls.
unlike Sciel and Lune who retained their souls and memories
No one is brought back perfectly. The original Verso couldn't even bring people back perfectly
The reason is that the canvas is a poison so if that degenerate drug addict maelle is dead then it's getting torched
NOOOOOOOOO I DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE CRACK HOUSE
How did Maelle fags defend this bitch?
there is no longer a reason to destroy the canvas.
Renoir and Clea still will.
I'm sure she could force them all out of she actually bothered to.
monoco and noco were verso's dogs. they reincarnate because he got new dogs with the same name
Why? Renoir clearly says he doesn't want to, he just wants to get his wife and daughter out of it.
Both endings are pretty shit, like REALLY shit. But the Maelle one is more interesting to me.
Grief. Spite. Clea would do it just because it vindicates her.
Sandfall needs to just make an entire game which is a complete shameless Souls ripoff because this Simon shit was fucking K I N O
The Verso ending is good, it's literally a bitter sweet ending of moving on
I dont know how so many people refuse to accept that this game is about moving on from grief and every instance of people refusing to move on leads to themselves or others being hurt
The Verso ending is just the Evangelion Rebuilds ending
“Just touch le grass bro lmao”
Maybe you should listen, bro...
HOLY SHIT MY FUARKIN HERO
They look nothing alike retard.
It's not "touch the grass" it's "let go"
Both Verso and Renoir do not have any problem with using canvases as a coping mechanism or to seek happiness, they explicitly point out that it should be done in moderation.
exact same face and hair, just darker lighting inside the opera house
Don't bother, Maelle tards are in denial, they already ignore the first and last minute of her ending and just focus on the delusional middle part
and Anno defends that being the correct ending despite his fans crying and whining and screeching
really makes you think huh
It makes me think the author is a dumbass, yeah
we know, Maelle. don't you have pretend zombie people to go play with?
What is the Lumina Converter in-game? Is it just allowing pictos to turn into luminas (passives) or does it also allow stat upgrades (Vitality, Might, etc.)? Crazy how the other expeditions managed to get so far without it.
Don’t you have a piano to play, fuckboy?
making people into slaves is le good to feed my coke addiction
Put down the crack pipe anon
because that's just lazy and uninspired and shits on the past 60hrs you spend playing the game
I SAID
SIT DOWN
and PLAY
the FUCKING
PIANO
The 60 hour game where every major character and plot element is centered around the topic of grief and moving on?
from the name, i'd think the former, but in the actual cutscene where you see it used, it absorbs the essence of a dead nevron. making me think it's more a stand in for XP/leveling
i think this may be a case where the game mechanic changed after writing and recording were done. i think this because it clearly happened with a different mechanic way later in the game. at the start of act 3, a voice line says "how will we upgrade our pictos now?" and maelle says she can do it, but this actually refers to upgrading weapons/resources (and pictos upgrade in a totally different way from finding them at a higher level). it seems pretty clear that it was planned that upgrading pictos was a mechanic the curator was involved with earlier when that line was written, then had its system design changed later
All hail the paintress, our loving goddess!
Goldberg Variations and crying in the distance
Does Maelle really force Verso to play the piano everyday while glaring death at him if he tries to disobey?
"b..b..b....but Maelle... we don't really feel like attending this concert for the 100000th time so you can live out your fantas-
*kills hundreds of people with a single Phantom Strike*
*Repaints them all while still covered in blood and chunks of internal organs*
*opens the piano*
People are just memeing.
A little girl with little self control gets absolute power in the universe.
Pretty sure there's a twilight zone episode like this
I'm not talking about the meme, but the actual ending.
Maelle is all smiles and happy but the moment Verso hesitates she suddenly turns all evil and cold looking directly at him, and this is before the paintress look appears.
Verso ending: Everyone dies
Maelle ending: Maelle dies
Even if you hate Maelle, the Maelle ending makes more sense
everyone is going to die the moment Maelle dies because Renoir and Clea have some sense left in them and are going to burn the painting when Maelle is done killing herself with it
