Alex Garland is the kind of guy to download some lore videos and make the story consistent with the game. He's adapted novels so he understands stories. When he did Annihilation, the changes he made were informed by parts of the novels that you don't learn about until the third book, meaning he read them all and thought carefully about how to communicate that through the story of just the first book.

I want them to make it entertaining trash like Minecraft but knowing them they'll make it another boring Netflix dark fantasy series that nobody will watch while missing the entire point of the series.

I think you should temper your expectations because A24 is known for making the kind of movies I just described. See: The Green Knight. If it was Universal or Warner Bros you could expect it to be a LOTR knock off but A24 doesn't usually spend more than $20 million on a movie. IIRC, Beau is Afraid is their most expensive movie ever at $35 million.
