I disagree with your take on Arthur. Starts as an ordinary brute, goes through some change, wrestles with his own mortality and accepts it.
The only thing I don't like is the "do bad" or "do good" idea in Chapter 6. I don't think that continuing to be a piece of shit after Arthur learns about his TB makes sense narratively speaking. It's just not where the story wants you to go and most people picked up on that. It didn't need to be there at all.

Games just looked boring. I played all of 20 minutes of red dead redemption, on a friend's game. I walled downstairs, tried to play poker but punched an Asian man, and teleported into the sky and died.

I've played it before but it's not the same experience, it's more akin to just looking around on Google Earth in terms of the exploration aspect.

Never got into open world games, so that makes sense. I like exploration, but tended towards Baldur's Gate wilderness exploration. My primary genres were RPGs and RTS, but i rarely game anymore.

Oblivion Remastered is the current big one and it's cool to see people who likely never played Oblivion before get why people liked it back in 2006. It's been a very good past few years for the RPG genre of all types (Baldur's Gate 3 which kicked things off, Metaphor, Starfield and Oblivion Remastered, Expedition 33, Persona 3:Reload, and more I'm missing).
