Who was in the right? Verso or Maelle?
Expedition 33 non-shitpost
cute male
I just finished Maelle’s sidequest and seeing this was fucking crazy, especially how they don’t elaborate on what Verso could have done.
I’m curious if people think you should do her sidequest before or after the ending. I did it after the ending, and I feel like I wouldn’t be prepared for amoral Maelle had I not beaten the game first.
I hate to use this old saying but it fits well here, Maelle was doing the right thing but for the completely wrong reasons. Verso was doing the completely wrong thing but for the right reasons.
Verso.
Maelle literally keeps him alive against his will to play piano when she could easily dust him like she did the rest of the families painted versions.
Verso would've been right if he at least bothered to be upfront from the very beginning.
He pretty much manipulated the whole party to do what he wanted and only what he wanted.
Neither, really. They were both in the wrong for different reasons and they were both focused on their own problems.
Someone in the other thread said Renoir described painting as "our family's gift" as though that signified only the Dessendre family has painter powers. But that doesn't align with what Clea says about Aline being the leader of the painters, implying there's a whole organization or guild out there
Man verso was such a great character. You have people who think he is evil incarnate and others who think he suffered an ungodly amount who ended u doing what needed to be done. Ben starr was great also especially at the end
I'm getting really tired of you Maellefags pretending you like her while encouraging her to suicide
Who was in the right?
He would've been
Hmm, I dunno man.
Is the black and white horror ending with a jumpscare of Maelle's melting face actively using her painter powers (implying she's maintaining and controlling everyone like she did in the battle in Lumiere), uncanny valley faces, spooky piano dissonance chords, and Verso looking like he's in misery the good one?
Or was it the one with a smiling Maelle with her family, with her parents hugging and reconciling, happy music playing, her family finally accepting Verso's death at his grave, her sister there, and her imaginary friends waving goodbye to her the good one?
I simply cannot tell for I am vastly retarded!
People also forget that his painted family is also gone by the end of the game and that he has been alive for way longer than everyone in Lumiere
I just want my wife Lune and my bros Esquie, Monoco and Francois to live, is that too much to ask?
when you just wanna die but she keep making you tickle those ivories
it should be telling to you that they both helped Verso knowing what he wanted to do. They wanted what was best for his fragment regardless of their desire to live.
Play the fucking piano Verso.
suicide
She'll experience more years of life inside the painting than she would outside of it.
but the real world is better because......... IT JUST IS OKAY?!
I personally think it is the one who doesn’t want to kill thousands of people.
But you know morality is relative and all that.
yeah but then Maelle melts into an abomination with no face and then he can just die as he wishes after she's done playing house and Renoir will probably nuke the painting with no survivors
no she won't, play the fucking game RETARD
Fucking RETARD
are the painted people real or not? I don't get it
Maelle
Honestly, if feels like maelle died in the gommage with the rest of the town. Alicia comes back and says she’s “both” now, but the more I play and read here, the less she seems like the girl we start with. Maelle is dead, and selfish Alicia isn’t her.
The canvas doesn't kill Maelle slowly because she's manipulating things too much, it doesn't work that way. It kills her slowly because she spends way too much time in there and doesn't know how to detach from it. Renoir says there is a balance required to use the paintings properly, but Maelle was always a terrible painter so she can't do it.
the director and writer think verso's ending is better and yeah maelle and the family do get over his death in that ending, they move forward. renoir was right.
but the cost of that ending is the death of thousands of people. that the people dying live in a virtual world, that they shouldnt've been born to begin with without interference by aline/renoir/whoever created them does not matter. they are alive. they live full lives, they are no different from you and me. sacrificing thousands for some people's character development in an epilogue of a video game is just total nonsense. no, the fact that they can be snuffed out in a single stroke does not mean they're less human. you, the person reading this, can also be snuffed out instantly if the powers at be decided to drone strike your house. does that mean you should just die? totally ridiculous.
the game supports genocide. it's unconscionable and fascistic but seeing as this is a fascist website i guess it's no surprise.
Why is everyone saying Verso's soul wants to keep painting. You can literally see in this scene where Verso asks him if he wants to stop, he nods.
left open to interpretation but I believe no. The painters are implied to be an entire guild, not just this one family, and this family alone "has painted thousands of worlds". This canvas was just Verso's "first" remember.
I don't think they go around created billions of sentient creatures just to destroy them desu.
The parents are the problem in the end. Maelle wouldn't stay there inside the painting if her mom wasn't such a bitchy hag and if daddy didn't want to destroy her minecraft server the instant she leaves.
where is the indication the creatures of the canvases are not sentient?
and that's on top of the entire game of him saying how sick of it he was via numerous NPCs all over the world.
I read it more like he is tired of dealing with his family's bullshit.
Is it right to save all of humans from dying if the cost was to make one human suffer for eternity?
Just play the fucking piano, Verso.
Whenever we deal with worlds within worlds, the question of reality becomes never ending. Is the world outside the painting real? Is the family of Painters at war with the Writers real? How do we know its not fabricated like Verso's world? The inhabitants of Verso's painting have real goals, feelings, dreams, grief, love, pain. The entire human condition is there among them all.
Yeah that was a real shock. I too did it after the end (which was nice because I beat everything except simon without knowing I had access to level 3 gradient attacks).
They act just as real as Maelle.
The real Verso considered them to be just as real as anything else.
And we have nothing that points towards them being not real.
So it is really anyone’s guess.
It is a copy of the Myst story just replacing books with painting.
Its literally been done in gaming before. The narrative her is identical.
When the fake Maelle said they were all illusions who don't know they are illusions, maybe? More support than
I think they are alive because I just think so, OKAY?! Also I think ChatGPT is alive because it sounds like it is OKAY
lmao
there is an ursula k le guin story about this
en.wikipedia.org
the difference is in le guin's version, killing the equivalent of verso's soul simply makes the society the people live in worse. it still exists. they do not all die if you kill the child, they just live less opulently. if that was an option here it would be optimal but it's not an option.
Oh fuck I actually missed this. I just took what Maellefags said at face value. Fuck them.
It's because of everything the fading child says leading up to that point. It builds up the multiple endings by showing that the child is confused and doesn't know what he wants anymore because of everything that happened. He wants to keep painting because he loves the creations in the canvas, even other peoples' creations (except Clea), and wishes that people enjoy it. But he also thinks he should stop painting because the canvas has been messed up too much from Aline, Renoir and Clea messing things up in it too much and making the world ugly and scary. That's why he is so easily swayed in the end - whoever comes to him first with their choice sets his mind on what he wants.
They both suck but Verso would have had much more credibility if he wasn't a chronic liar intent on backstabbing the expeditioner's at every critical moment
They're as real as the Painter makes them. Real Verso thought painted beings had souls and real Renoir doesn't talk down to them despite the fact he can delete them from existence at any moment. At the same time you have Clea who doesn't think about them as living beings and has no problem mindbreaking Painted Clea and Simon if it helps her get her parents out of the painting
Yeah, no, try harder.
It's not suicide if you live a full life before you die. Your statement if factually incorrect.
It's clear that both endings are bad in some way and what you choose comes down to what you relate to the most but I still think that Maelle's ending is the correct one and I will die on that hill.
Also, isn't it great to see Anon Babble finally discussing videogames?
It's because [headcanon].
bullshit, Maellefag. She doesn't even talk to him in her ending. Verso begs her to end the boy's suffering and also to let him die, she ignores him and it cuts to the Piano Puppet Show
Yes, she will. Time moves differently within the painting, so she could be in there for over a century at least before she succumbs outside.
Is asked a direct question
Gives an affirmative answer to the question
Hmmm actually I think he answered a completely different question
The state of Maelle fags
in another game with a somewhat similar premise they weren’t sentient that means they aren’t here either
them not being currently aware that they are painted means they aren’t sentient even though that implies they have the capacity for thought and awareness
Maellefags are all disingenuous liars, just like their favorite character
Verso wanted to paint his gestrals and fun paintings. His family tainted his canvas with their bullshit. It’s said that painted Verso inherited real Verso’s memories so he must be well aware of this too. Putting him in a better position to know what his younger self would have wanted.
This. After he watched Alicia erase painted alicia with a smug look on her face and no thought of his feelings, I was aghast. She killed his sister he’d loved for 70 years! You almost can’t fault him for falling into even further depths of despair in the endings. Its horrible.
They have over a century of history, generations of people living out entire lives outside of the observation of the painters. They're very much real people at that point, the entire intro to the game should drive that home for anyone but the most stubborn of retards determined to dismiss their wellbeing as a concern to make their faggy little retard point about who they picked for the ending
her mother is the strongest painter in the city, maybe the world
her father is not, but was taught by the strongest and can match her
the game outright says Maelle was weak at it and she wanted to be a writer
They were both reduced to mindbroken husks after 67 years
she is shown to already be melting 1 week or month after the final battle
"HURR DURR I DUN GET IT"
so you did play the game, you're just severely retarded and didn't understand anything.
Got it.
If a god creates life he has no moral right to destroy that life just because he got bored.
Even if this were true, Maelle literally doesn't even interact with him if you pick her ending. She just locks him away and starts playing house. It really hammers home Verso's point that they're all being selfish and she's hiding behind "morality" to get what she wants.
Anon tell me why Maelle can’t make her own paintings? also she is no where near as experienced as her parents. she will die quicker as shown at the end
Women are never right
Its an identical premise with an identical question hook.
The entire lore backdrop of the Myst series are the 2 factions - 1 believes they make the worlds in their books, the other think they reveal living worlds and catalog them in books.
Replace book with painting and its e33.
You fags are just too young to know the whole thing is stolen from a much better series.
Sorry, unlike you I played the game. Literally 10 minutes before the ending you find the boy throughout the city and he is swinging from one choice to another, unable to choose what he wants. He says "I'm tired, I should stop painting" then next time you speak to him he says "I should keep painting, paint forever"
Gods don't follow their creations mental compasses, retardbro
Hey do you want to stop
Yes I want to stop
"ACTUALLY YES MEANS NO OKAY BECAUSE I DREAMED IT WAS SO"
lol Maelletards
They are real, and Verso’s young boy soul fragment ghost even states they have souls.
Gods aren't governed by petty things such as human definitions of morality that aren't even shared by all humans anyways.
The only people happy in that painted world is Maelle and Esquie. Francois is literally drowning in his own misery waiting centuries for Clea to visit him (she probably won't). Just put everyone out of their misery.
Neither. Renior was the only right person. Two women throwing a tantrum instead of doing what needed to be done his only fault was not abandoning them to save his last sane family member
You don't even save all humans, just give 'em a century more of life. You're choosing between ending the Canvas when absolutely everyone but Sciel and Lune are already gone, or ending it suddenly in a century when Alicia simply collapses dead irl and you're instead erasing Gustave, Sophie, Lune and Sciel's grandkids
Anon tell me why Maelle can’t make her own paintings?
That's a dumb question, why should she, she likes this painting.
she will die quicker as shown at the end
What a bleak interpretation. You know, it's a sure sign of a mental midget when you take something ambiguous and try to turn it black and white to be "right"
They were both reduced to mindbroken husks after 67 years
Retard. It’s Renoir that was in the canvas for 67 years. He came in it some time after Aline because she had enough time to create lumiere and her family. And Renoir is in no way a “mindbroken husk”
she is shown to already be melting 1 week or month after the final battle
We have no idea how long after the piano scene is. And she isn’t melting, that is just how painters look while interfacing with the canvas.
Won't she become a weird husk like the paintress and the curator after spending too much time in there?
you are slow but in french
and they can't even point to him saying he wants to keep going in the other ending because Maelle doesn't even talk to him and ignores him to play with her dolls. She doesn't give a fuck what he wants or anyone wants as long as she can keep playing house.
And tell me when Verso comes across the boy the final time at the very end. how does he answer Verso’s question?
It’s irrelevant if they took the premise from some place else because in this story they are clearly sentient.
Fucking idiot. There's so much wrong with what you wrote I hardly know where to start. I can't discuss this game with someone with the memory of a fucking gnat, so don't waste your time anymore. Go play with blocks or something
MAYBE
MAYBE
but when asked point blank by the person who has his memories and is him
"he says YES I want to stop"
UM akshully he didn't mean it
Maellefags just lie. It's who they are and why they like the bitch.
papa va t'en
Wife completely mindbroken after the death of their son and cannot live in reality anymore
Son dead trying to save daughter in a housefire
Daughter also follows her mom and wants to live her fantasies
Only remaining daughter is a bitch
Renoir married into the wrong fucking family.
I can't rebut anything so I will make excuses
I know already
Its relevant because it answered your question 30 years ago.
The rules on that are unclear because Renoir seemingly can control his form. In the last boss fight he turn from normal into the Curator.
I imagine she will but she will be able to conceal her true form.
Everything in that post happened in the game though. You must have watched it on Youtube.
Point to one single thing that is wrong instead of making gayboy excuses.
Why should the humans care about their feckless god’s tiredness? Why should they not do everything to continue their own existence.
Verso being “tired” is irrelevant. He made his bed now he must lie in it.
And she isn’t melting, that is just how painters look while interfacing with the canvas.
Did you even play the game? Painters only have that melting look around their eyes when painting. The fact that her entire face, and soon to be her body, is melting clearly is not fucking normal.
1 week or month
You talk to the boy over a dozen times throughout the game and he indeed does say he loves his painting and world.
See
And she isn’t melting, that is just how painters look while interfacing with the canvas.
actual RETARD. Look at her parents again in the scene 'Alicia Epilogue'
stupid fuck
Maybe
That's not a no, Anon.
I have to wake up every day at 5am and commute to an office where i work all day long on a souless corporate job i absolutely hate, surrounded by people i can barely tolerate all so i can make just enough money to survive but never enough to actually change my life and escape the rat race.
If i had the option to abandon this existance and go live a whole lifetime in another world where i can be and do whatever i want, i would.
b-but you'll die eventually
So what? I'll also die eventually in real life. At least there i can be happy.
Except Renoir has no clue what to actually do, both Renoirs actually, they want to fix shit but they have no idea how
If anything Clea is the only one who's actually doing something productive by forcing painted Clea to hog all Chroma to create Nevrons
The "husk" aspect was visual metaphor like the Axons. The extended trip to the canvas was actively killing them, but it is not visually represented in the way you think.
And Renoir is in no way a “mindbroken husk”
literarly states he almost died and 'endured for so long because I must'
he uses this as his reasoning for Maelle to not fucking stay in the death trap
You didn't play the game and you keep trying to talk about it. Amazing LOL
1 week or month
Read retard. READ. The boy is a representation of the canvas and its creator's soul. It doubts whether it should continue painting or not to set up the fact there are two endings, giving you a choice. It literally asks you point blank in the streets "Do you think I should continue?" and if you say "Yes" then it says "Yes, I should continue..." which is exactly the same as when Verso asks it the opposite later.
You play the game again. Because it’s not melting.
You have to be more precise because what I see only reinforces my point
because there's no way to tell fuckwit but clearly it's not years since everyone else looks exactly the same
Also, isn't it great to see Anon Babble finally discussing videogames?
Yes! There hasn’t been any interesting conversations here in months. Bless the french and their misery kino.
Both have valid points, but I went with Verso.
Maelle is a junkie that will either kill herself or needs Daddy to drag her out of the picture with the help of Clea.
It sucks that the rest of the party dies, but only Monoco and Esquie have my sympathy. Both Lune and Sciel were hoes that used Verso only as a meat dildo, with the latter essentially cucking her husband once she knew he could be brought back. The rest of the human population was already dead and they would just be replications. Maelle could do that shit in her own painting as well without enslaving Verso's soul.
In no way is that equivalent to a “mindless husk”. And he was fighting against Aline all the time.
because there's no way to tell
but clearly it's not years
This is beyond a joke at this point. Please, just, save some face
Okay I get that Maelle wanted to create a perfect fantasy world, but why did she force Verso to play the piano? Why not grant him death and just live with her other fake creations? It's just cruelty at this point.
Verso has clearly aged. And maybe it is just me but Maelle also looks a bit older.
Other people don't have low functioning autism so they understand that language is not the absolutism it appears. You obviously don't converse with people often.
Should be easy to post proof, no?
nooo I have to live and age and die normally in a world with my best friends where my sister is god! I know I'll die eventually but I really want to die RIGHT NOW
sybau and play the piano lil bro
I converse with the stupid far too often. This being one such case.
Verso and Maelle are both retarded, but Maelle is double retarded. The canvas could be allowed to live if Maelle could go back to the real world for a couple days at a time to recuperate and then come play with Esquie and everyone, but she has the retardation of being a sixteen year old Alicia multiplied against the retarded of a sixteen year old Maelle both of whom are too busy grieving to do basic self care so it's better to keep her from killing herself with Verso's canvas and hope that she can put herself together and go play in some other canvas after the depression eases off.
um I will pretend that scene wasn't in the game okay because it makes me wrong and retarded
lol
Or better yet paint a different Verso that agrees with her? It would line up with her fantasy better anyways.
Maelle is awful because she doesn’t murder Verso
They were both wrong.
Because she wants to save the world in the painting for selfish reasons. She believes all the people of Lumiere deserve to live, which is right, but she wants them to live because she wants to live in there with them, which is wrong.
You're mental failing is the issue. Your autism actually impairs you, that is what makes it low functioning. It harms your ability to conduct day to day business.
talks about face
is autistic and can't recognize facial expressions so instead does massive mental gymnastics over a video game ending that is not cryptic or meant to be subtle
LOL
sciel touching verso but only the backhand
lune sitting cross legged seething at verso
frends coming for a final hug
KINOOOOOOOOOOOO
which is wrong.
no it isn't
FUCK painters and FUCK the dessendres
Why not grant him death and just live with her other fake creations? It's just cruelty at this point.
Is it though? She made him age, she just wanted him to live some and die. Maybe there also was a selfish motivation to spend more time with him but ultimately he will die like he wanted. He wasn't able to rob her of her choice but he will partially get what he wants.
What are you trying to say? Yes you can see the same thing you see on Maelle in the ending. That is exactly what I was saying
What point are you making?
who the fuck gives a shit about the crispy cyclops let her rot in the painting idc
no he hasn't, he's just pissed off as fuck and missing his scar that she took away from him to fit her perfect lie despite him choosing to keep it
She cant let him go.
In the Verso ending she breaks down crying and begs Verso to not abandon her again right before getting Gommaged
Why didn't Renoir, unable to kick Maelle out of the painting himself, make a deal with the party that, in exchange for reviving everyone he gommaged away, *they* (the party) kick Maelle out of the Canvas for him, and continue to kick her and Aline out if they ever come back. The party clearly is powerful enough to do it, Verso does it by himself in his ending. This satisfies all parties.
It's because she made a promise to Verso that he'll be able to play in the Lumiere Opera House again, they have a camp scene about it. From her point of view by allowing him to both age and play music she's doing what's best for him
It was a nice touch and spoke volumes about the characters.
Sciel doesn't want to be erased, but respects Verso's choice.
Monoco and Esquie are happy that their friend finally gets his rest.
Lune is just seething in defiance.
You're mental failing
And an ESL to boot. Jesus Christ.
You're accusing me of mental gymnastics. That's hilarious.
i thought of this too, but verso really wanted to release verso's soul from the painting i guess.
first it was "that didn't happen"
now it's "okay it happened but I'm blind and those are the same
kek
God, fucking autistmos man
targaryen eyes
she lost it long ago, she's got the crazy from her mother after all
Because Maelle/Alice.
but ultimately he will die like he wanted.
Are we sure? I get the feeling she will just de-age him again and keep him as her toy forever.
Lmao yeah all you need to see us the painted guys waving goodbye to know it's objectively the right ending
She can't bring herself to kill Verso. The other family members still live in her world. Verso's painting is all they have left of him and the painted version of Verso is too much for her to let go. Her grief for her brother is also cruelty to him.
you're accusing me of a thing I am doing repeatedly without fail
Uh, yeah. That is how that works, dumbfuck.
You fell for it, proving the point.
Your autism literally derailed your own mind at a laid trap you utter buffoon.
Low functioning to the nines kek.
The epilogue clearly takes place several years later. Gustave looks noticeably more fat, Lune has slightly greying hair, Maelle looks like a 30 year old, Verso has a white beard. It's meant to show that Maelle has obviously spent too much time in the canvas and can't control herself.
After he watched Alicia erase painted alicia with a smug look on her face and no thought of his feelings, I was aghast.
That was a complete cunt move by Alicia that wasn't properly explained. Not giving Verso a chance to say goodbye was one thing, but that smug look on her face while doing? Unforgivable.
Why are painters such cunts to their painted counterparts?
Honhonhon, Non!
Autistic people can't read body language so they don't know what this means
Obviously because the most negative interpretation of anything regarding Maelle/Alicia is the 100% objective factual truth. Always.
The Claire Obscura theme doesn't play during Maelle's ending. Therefore it is non-canon.
You are just saying random stuff that in no way relates to what I was saying at this point. There is no reason to continue.
Based take he's/ourguy/ with the best OST he deserves better
Because there's no guarantee he won't just erase the canvas after his family is kicked out + he can't just ungommage people as you need to have some memory of them
Where all my Clea-anons at! The real protagonist of the family!
more excuses and deflection
your inability to understand a plain as day video game is utterly comical
NO SEE HE SAID YES BUT HE MEANT NO TRUST ME
The humans are fucking dead. There's 3 left and only one of those cares that much
Renoir married into the wrong fucking family.
Wrong. He failed as a man because he failed to reign all these bitches in.
Because Maelle/Alice.
What do you mean? The party just has to boot her out of the canvas and all is well. Renoir can trust that she'll never be able to stay there, plus why would she want to if everyone she loves is just going to kick her out for their own sake.
A shard of barely verbal soul is just not worth what verso sacrificed for it then. Like not at all.
What about how Verso is responsible for the death of everyone Maelle knows in the canvas and gave her no chance to say goodbye, twice?
This. You niggas have to understand that Maells isnt saving the canvas out of the kindness of her heart. She's doing it entirely for selfish reasons by the end.
She wants a VR dollhouse where she can play with her dead brother and painted friends. It doesnt matter if Verso wants to be a part of it or not. She doesnt care about what he wants.
The moment she gets Alicias memories she changes personality and starts acting like a spoiled child.
Are we sure?
No idea, it's not stated in the game. Depends on if she loses her mind like her mother did.
I wan't to believe that he will die naturally though.
Verso was into music
Alicia was (is?) into writing
Clea is into sculpting
So much for the esteemed Dessendre family of "painters"
No I’d have to go through the whole game again and take screenshots, why would it be easy?
it's okay for her to kill what I already said I think are real people for revenge
lol
Clair Obscur: Writers fucking up the the Painters game when?
Retard, they look the exact same. part of the horror of it is exactly how same things are. Gustave and Sophie look exactly as they did on the day of the Gommage. The canvas is killing her for not leaving but it isn't at the end of a life well lived. Verso's hair is white because it was white decades ago, like painted Alicia and he just had Gestrals dye it for him
Yeah, but from the perspective of the party, this is still clearly a better option. Maelle & Renoir recreate the erased people of Lumiere together (this is clearly doable), and then in return for Renoir's help and a promise not to erase them all the party and the entire world of lumiere forcibly kick Maelle out of the canvas. This is a strong and effective deterrent, and also spares Renoir from having to destroy Verso's soul fragment, upset his daughter, and destroy thousands of human lives.
same voice actress as Clea btw
Painted Alicia wanted to die.
Maelle just allowed her to. If Alicia wanted to talk to her brother she would have, but she didn’t.
Verso on the other hand caused the death of people who wanted to live.
You niggas have to understand that Maells isnt saving the canvas out of the kindness of her heart. She's doing it entirely for selfish reasons by the end.
If someone saved my house from burning for selfish reasons I wouldn't mind
Killing is always fine, murder is the one people debate. No one thinks killing is immoral just that murder is.
100 years irl, or 100 years in a painting thats only a fraction of that time frame but you die anyway. No difference really. If the painted world is better, I’d choose the painted world.
Clea calls the fakes obscene and is helping Renoir despite thinking both of them are stubborn are retarded. Good enough for me.
yeah i really dislike alicia by act 3, she says she prefers going as maelle but its clear its a completly different character now, it has maelle's memories but all the spoiled personality of the crispy cyclops
So thats why the brony decided to spambomb Anon Babble with this topic. I was wondering what his next topic would be.
The moment she regains her memories is when she remembers why she entered the painting. She lies to herself before entering “I’m not doing it for that reason” but she is of course. And who can blame her, this is where she can live a normal existence. The whole thing is tragic.
I don't like the dungeons in this game, they are very boring and everything blends into each other so I miss out on pictos and optional side bosses and stuff.
If Clea was this ugly she'd have no fans
Hot voice.
Reminder that Verso used to think Painted people deserve to exist
Enough whining dead child, you paint for my own selfish desires now BOY
whip cracks
Then who does the teenage looking child that the group has with them belong to. Did they just grab a random kid and have it sit in the middle of their gang?
I'm barely even responding at this point after pointing out the mental gymnastics of trying to treat a subjective analysis that can't even help but be vague in the details it gives to prove its own point as factual and irrefutable. I'm ashamed of myself for even going through the trouble of typing all this out, because you and your buddy are not worth the time or effort. This is not "mental gymnastics" this is open disdain.
Just digging the hole deeper. Bottom line is this: None of your main points are explicit within the narrative. The possibility of Maelle experiencing a long time within the painted world is left as a possibility, and me simply pointing that out makes you mad. That is why I keep making fun of you. Because you're a retarded little pissy sperg that can't see past your own nose, and you have a stomping tantrum when someone disagrees with the way you interpret things.
At that point it would be more convenient for Renoir to just erase the canvas instead of risking this shit repeating. Your arrangement doesn't satisfy anyone - Verso would still want to be erased, Renoir would still have to worry about his junkie wife and daughter returning there and the Lumerians would live knowing that any moment their gods could destroy the world again because their family is dysfunctional
ChatGPT telling me it is alive and wants to live means it is alive bro
American education victim?
Would the painting be erased if the sliver of Verso's soul was destroyed?
this. people don't wanna come to terms with maelle dying in the mass-gommage, the one after is not the same at all, verso even tolds her that maelle is dead but she just says "i'm still maelle thougever, hehe" and everything is ok, but even her facial expressions are not the same at all
extremely ironic post
clea dlc / sequel when
gotta kick writter ass
id really like a sequel with the dessandre family as a party, with painter abilities or something
each party member has a different style and its already clear from all the paintings you find in the house
except the burned one-eyed bacon, which is a talentless hack, could maybe be unoriginal and summon a esquie 2.0 or something, copying verso's drawings
She looks about one discordant note away from bursting into tears in that ending.
You being a low functioning autist while the rest of us are high functioning is fine anon.
There is a hierarchy in all things.
This is the biggest redflag. I would be fine if Maelle actually wanted to save the painting and the people in it. But unlike Anons here who truly view them as people, she is purely doing it for selfish reasons.
When you find Maelle in the prologue with Sophie, she's guiding orphans-to-be of this year's Gommage, that boy is one of them
Real Verso also thinks the same. Painted Verso isn't wrong, he's just stupid and only has one idea for fixing the issue (destroy everything).
newscientist.com
You're in this article bro
The moment she gets Alicias memories she changes personality and starts acting like a spoiled child.
Anon, you do realize that it's open to interpretation, right?
There's no denying that she acts differently in act 3 but she still visibly cares about people around her. And she cares about Gustave since she specifically asks Verso if he let him die.
We also don't know how much control she exercises over the people in the canvas. I'm willing to bet that she's not controlling anyone and even Verso is actually going along with it just because he has no choice but not because she mind controlled him.
There are playthroughs up. If you can't find it then it obviously doesn't exist. Stop trying to gaslight people who have played the game.
no see the horror movie staple of orchestral stings and discordant piano chords are actually an indication that this ending is Le Good™
it doesn't *completely* satisfy anyone but it also avoids all the worst outcomes. Verso has to live, but he doesn't have to be Maelle's piano slave. Maelle has no reason to stay in the canvas if everyone there treats her presence as an existential threat. Renoir doesn't have to destroy his son's soul fragment and betray his daughter.
Really, the whole reason Alicia wants to be in the canvas is so she can be with her friends; if all of them desperately want her gone at all times I don't see what temptation this particular canvas would have for her, and I think renoir could be made to understand this if he's even a little reasonable, and if he's being honest about not wanting to destroy the canvas.
Alicia’s hair changes dramatically from white to dark grey. Kind of strange. I think she and Lune look older too. Might just be how its shot, idk
Why does everyone play with a big head cheat code active?
completely dodges the question
kek based backstabber verso
Maelle saying Verso can’t just decide for everyone else and brings up how it’s unfair to all the people they know
Meanwhile Verso just refuses to answer
And this should somehow prove that Maelle is the selfish one?
Didn't Clea say that they tried to hide the painting but Maman still found it anyways? Renoir probably went to the nuclear option of destroying it because he knew his wife and daughter would keep trying to get back in.
real verso didnt draw humans tho, those are made up by aline, to have mob background characters to the painted family
verso just made the gestrals, esquie, cool background settings, and had fun short adventures with esquie monoco and a younger clea in the canvas
verso as a child even knew how to use the canvas, not as a escapism world, but as a fun playground you go and have a cool adventure in every now and then
She definitely has selfish wishes but I don’t know if it’s entirely fair to say she doesn’t give a shit about her friends within the canvas either. She is fighting to preserve them too.
Sacrifice your life to save your little sister
She traps herself in a fictional world of your creation anyway
No you don't understand this actually what the real Verso wanted!
NOOOOOOOOOOO I DON'T WANT TO LIVE THIS LIFE
JUST FUCKING KILL ME I BEG OF YOU
I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
I DON'T WANT THIS LIFE
...People think this is a Good Ending?
real verso didnt draw humans tho, those are made up by aline, to have mob background characters to the painted family
implying the retards ITT understood any of this
real verso didnt draw humans tho, those are made up by aline

Guys, please, what is the name of the song that plays when you return to Lumiere on act 3 and Maelle summons an army of expeditioners?
Verso deserves even worse for the things he has done.
any ending that saves lune's feet is a good ending
Maelle is the "sweet" one but it will inevitably end the same as Verso's, as the Dessendre family are being actively targeted by the Writers and have tried to kill them before with the fire. The practical ending is for Verso to put the world down before the Writers use it against them. Aline is one of the most powerful of the Painters as Renoir stated, and Alicia is no slouch either, holding that world hostage would let the Writers have access to their power.
it's not a good ending, but it avoids the end of the world. lumiere is a world that deserves to exist. because of the wild fucking stakes here, the personal unhappiness of the characters isn't really relevant to whether the ending is "good" or not.
It's because she knows she is doing something very stupid by living in there, but tries to ignore that. The way she moves in the epilogue along with her expression shows that while everyone else is having a good time (except Verso lol), she lives in Lumiere with the constant awareness that she shouldn't be there.
kek see? These retards didn't even play the game. They are asking for 'citations' on basic fucking things about the game
umm can you prove to me that Avalanche planted a bomb on the reactor?
The gestrals are also sentient beings with lives and thoughts.
Killing them is also genocide.
I would be tired of painting too if my family kept fucking with them
and yet Mono-chad and Esqui-chad both help Verso knowing what he is going to do.
WEIRD!
Yeah I don't think Maelle even has this kind of power, Verso is probably still immortal. He can age, but he can't kill himself
People want to think Maelle is mind controlling the entire Lumiere in her ending, but she's by far the least skilled Painter in her family. Verso might be feel like a slave, but he's not literally controlled. Even Aline wasn't controlling the painted family, Maelle wouldn't either
I don't have anything at all to point to, that makes the OTHER guy a retard!
Anon, he admits both are hypocrites. Maelle just won't admit it and hides behind Sciel and Lune and Monoco when in reality she's doing it for herself, not for them.
prove to me basics about the game that everyone that played it knows or else I will keep gaslighting
no
lol
Verso is projecting his own hypocrisy to feel better about himself.
Monster Hunter: USA
Yes, he only filled his world with Esquie, gestrals and grandis. But he also says he loves the creations of the painting, even ones by other people, with the exception of Clea's nevrons that scare him. Verso wanted his canvas to be a place where people can experience exciting adventures and new beginnings.
alicia states that shes not skilled enough to paint over someone else's creation, and verso is not her creation
maybe after being in there for a while he can somewhat control them but i dont think she can remove verso's inherent immortality from aline
This. Who knows when the writers will strike next and burn down the house, painting included. If Maelle wants to protect Lumiere then she needs to win the war first. Clea was unironically right in saying their family needs to stop being little bitches caught up in their drama and face the real world for once.
cat puts its dirty ass paws all over the food
gross
What about all the other Gestrals? What about the Grandis? Do they not get a say?
Killing them is also genocide.
They're probably fine with it. Golgra already genocided an entire forest of Gestrals because some dude complained about them.
He is projecting, but he is also right. Recall that in Maelle's ending she doesn't talk to Verso's soul at all and asks him what he wants. She immediately locks him up. It's lowkey fucked up.
so let's hear you excuses now or more likely, you pretend to not understand what HER CREATIONS means, or you just won't reply.
GG
2 EZ
Sciel is underrated
Thinking about Lune’s feet
alicia is a talentless hack Microsoft Paintress their own family wont even pin her drawings on the freezer
She only did that because she thought they could always come back.
Being immortal obviously gives you a different perspective on death.
But that is very different from being permanently erased.
couldn't she just splinter off a piece of her own soul to keep the painting going and let verso rest?
see
Gaslighting sister? Your response? Hello?
Gaslighting sister? Your response? Hello?
It’s the soul of a dead person. There is nothing to say.
She is fighting to preserve them out of grief and not wanting to live on the real world, she is doing it because that's what she wants for them, but not because thats what they want for themselves.
why do you think the gommage only affects humans you numbskulls
they could always come back
They clearly can't. They are not the same after their rebirth.
wall of big, impressive painting
'the tiny one in the corner is mine :)'
protect alicia at all costs
Oooooooo… this seems fairly important. Not that I care about canon, both endings are great, but…
That's the thing. She doesn't want him to rest. He's her last link to the real Verso who died in the fire.
And she cares about Gustave since she specifically asks Verso if he let him die.
Honestly, I expected her to throw more of a shitfit when she found out that Verso let Gustave get killed because he was in the way of his plans. Yet her reaction was pretty muted.
instantly kill Painted Alicia with a smug face to relieve her from her suffering
keeps Verso around against his wishes since he just wants to die
She has clear double standards.
xhe stopped replying
LOL
I don't think they're okay with being deleted from existence, they have a very relaxed approach to death because they reincarnate and the memory loss is a minor incovenience because most of them are goofy goobers. But if you told them no more reincarnation I don't think they would be too happy
They are different but every gestural yo talk to, with the exception of Monoco, view it as any other reincarnation. No one seems particularly sad about dying because they always come back. That’s why they can love fighting so much.
You fucking kidding. No way :D Who was Gale and Minthara? Lol
yep, these two actions completly prove that maelle's personality is long gone, only her memories remain, alicia says she prefers maelle only to play more into her escapism
So we're definitely getting a sequel set in the "real" world with the weird alt-history that has 33 days in December and there are wizard wars between nerds, right? They set up way too much worldbuilding that bears no relevance to the immediate game for nothing.
The best thing she could do is use the canvas for its intended purpose and make it into a place the child would like again. He is unhappy because Aline, Renoir and Clea are turning his canvas into a battleground filled with nightmare creatures. Maelle would at least make it peaceful, but she does make two mistakes really: she keeps painted Verso and she keeps herself in there until she dies.
can't she let him rest without kicking his soul out of the canvas
Both endings suck because they strip 3/5th of the party of their Agency. Why couldn't Lune, Sciel and Monoco argue their opinions as well?
They're also Verso's own creations and probably want whats best for him, unlike the humans who shouldn't even be there, but maman had to smoke her opium inside his room
i really hope so
Clea for main character!
erases painted alicie without blinking
"it's what she wanted, i'm just honoring her wishes"
verso desperately begs Maelle to erase him
"just shut up and play the piano lil'bro"
i can't understand for a second maell* fags
This is literally what I was asking for. Don't know why it was so hard to at least say "During the flashback they mention it" because I remembered it as "oldest creations" and not specifically "HER oldest creations.
It was an act of revenge
Verso is responsible for the death of every person under the age of 33 in Lumiere. Why should he get an easy out?
but it's fine if verso displays the exact same hypocrisy right
It's so very hard to remember the details of this story, so it's easier to just get mad and not acknowledge anything that's clearly wrong and simply substitute headcanon for it.
Yeah they’re probably the weakest part of the game. Very little rhyme or reason to them, just messy corridors and paths.
Anon, don't you think she deserves to be selfish here?
After the fire all she had was hate from the cunt family and eternal pain. And then more suffering inside the canvas because of people she loved dying.
Verso spent the entire game backstabbing lying and manipulating for his own selfish reasons.
The thing about family I'm beginning to understand is your family members are people that are free to make their own choices. You often can't force them to do what is best for them. That causes you pain, yes, but it's ultimately better to let them decide for themselves even if they end up making a bad choice in the end. What he's doing here is forcing his sister to do what HE wants. That's just fucked up, especially considering his actions prior.
PLAY IT
t..that's w..w..what I...w..wanted..h...haha....I was w..wrong on p..purpose
you didn't play the game. You missed the biggest story moment in the entire game and was unaware of what happened in it.
LOL
They are the real Verso's creations. Not this imposter made up by Aline
None of the humans seemed to care about the wellbeing of the paintress despite Aline creating them.
Monoco and Sciel are accepting of both outcomes, Lune is the only one who would object the canvas being erased
They can always be repainted in a different canvas.
These fuckers kill their own babies for their twisted version of Volleyball. They're too retarded to be a consideration.
If you don't reply in 90 seconds it counts as some sort of table flip. Nobody reads posts that don't contain (You)s!
Kill yourself
The canvas only exists because of his soul. That's the entire reason why Aline wanted to keep it around. I'd assume it would collapse somehow if the painter's soul is removed from their canvas.
woah it's almost like the endings are about two very flawed people who force others into following their decisions to tragic results (with one or two silver linings)
In maelle/alicia's ending, monoco or esquie are nowhere to be seen
i think she cant control the original canvas verso's creations to attend to her bullshit opera, only Aline's humans, and since aline is not in the canvas, but verso's soul shard is still trapped, she has no enforcement over the gestrals or grandis
Can they? What are you basing that on?
rewatch the cutscene
They are also parasites living in ignorance. The gestrals know Verso made them
They are paintings.
Absolutely.
Because they're both selfish. Verso would have let them all die at the cliffs if Lune and Sciel weren't already down before Renoir showed up.
In maelle/alicia's ending, monoco or esquie are nowhere to be seen
They are right outside the concert hall by the line of people walking in.
Monoco and Esquie are clearly okay with Verso's choice. Sciel at least comes to term with it. Lune stays mad.
Lune is a Maelle's simp
Sciel is fine with it either way
whoops, you're right
They're acting as bouncers, Esquie also acts pretty cheery.
and her imaginary friends waving goodbye to her the good one?
This was too heavy handed and that's why I'm against Verso ending, they would never be okay with ending their existence just because Verso is tired of living, maybe they would care for Maelle dying.
But this doesn't mean that I agree with Maelle ending, I just chose her ending because I was a Lune/Sciel/Monoco team so I want them to keep existing at any cost.
Sciel doesn’t get a chance to express her opinion on it. Just because she doesn’t look as mad as Lune doesn’t mean she accepts it.
you can get a secret baguette weapon in new game+ if you kept one token without spending it during the lumiere festival
sneaky devs
I'm not here to argue that. I'm just saying that Maelle's entire reason for saving the painting is self-serving and she clearly doesn't give much of a shit about the others outside of their relationship to her. It's a farcry from all these stupid discussions like "do painted people have souls" because it doesn't fucking matter. At best Maelle is right for completely the wrong reasons.
Hypocrisy runs in the family, every single one of them is self-serving with the exception of real Verso (who's dead) and maybe Renoir who just wants his family back together except he doesn't know how and he ended up neglecting his two surviving children as a result
in the "real" world with the weird alt-history that has 33 days in December
Who says the "real" world isn't part of a Writer scenario they're trapped in without realising it? The December 33rd thing is extremely odd and we don't know yet how the Writer powers work.
Honestly, I expected her to throw more of a shitfit when she found out that Verso let Gustave get killed because he was in the way of his plans. Yet her reaction was pretty muted.
It seemed to me like she was pretty sad over it but realized that she can bring Gustave back and didn't push the matter with Verso further. Her tone in the scene is clearly very sad.
So you base it on nothing.
i just realised why alicia is named alicia
alicia in wonderland
they would never be okay with ending their existence just because Verso is tired of living
He discusses it with both of them in the level 7 relationship scenes. The specifically are okay with it.
at least you recognize the intent of that scene even if you prefer the other ending, unlike some of the brain dead autismos here
Sciel literally accepts/makes peace with it.
As I said, it's only Lune who objects.
So fucking manipulative lol
Eyyyyyy
Sciel made peace with herself long ago, she's okay with either dying or getting her husband back and even tells Verso that she would sacrifice him in a heartbeat to achieve that goal so whenever Verso sacrifices her to achieve his she's understanding
Like I said, there's so much going on that isn't addressed in-game at all which feels like they're meant to be loose ends for another game. Most people miss it but there's also implications of another faction focused on music.
What the fuck is going on in France?
I kinda hope I never have a teenage daughter. I'll never be able to rein her in if she goes full manipulative mode.
act 3
The future is ectomorphs, anon.
at least Clea is based
Just because she understands Verso’s motivations doesn’t mean she accepts it or made peace with it. It is simply too late for her to do anything about it her final scene.
eh.. wtf
why does alicia's hair turn white in act 3?
I'm sorry, is the idea of a painter painting a thing they know too farfetched?
this shit is all going to end like star ocean 3 isnt it
the characters realise they are in a videogame
Sciel literally accepts/makes peace with it.
Sciel has always been a woo woo fatalistic hippie bitch though. Can't expect most other people to have that cattle mentality dressed up in spiritualism.
That's not really the point, like the other post said, they are all hypocrites and wrong about a miriad of things, but Verso and Renoir understand the hypocrisy, accept it, and try to move on. Maelle doesnt accept it, she refuses again and again for her own sake, not for anyone's else. She says multiple times that she has nothing in the real world. She rather live in the wonderland for her own sake than to live in the real world but keep the painting alive without being able to come back.
What are the level bonuses?
i honestly have no idea, but i belive maybe she dyes it in real life
Versofags
If you paint a new painting it isnt the same painting even if it looks identical.
It is still a different painting.
real answer because it looks cool
lore answer, because painted alicia had white hair
Honey, see that angry man on stage playing piano?
I fucked him like 7 times. Probably thousands of fuckings after you died.
Anon, she literally reaches out to caress Verso's hand not unlike how Monoco and Esquire give him a hug.
Spoiler question.
Long spoiled that the character voiced by a big celebrity dies early. Do I get my Lumina shard refunded if spent on Gustave or should I avoid investing in him at all costs.
hidden
The francophile outfits already showed them using it in marketing materials.
A lot of people seem to think she's just irrelevant (and/or are unwilling to forgive her for being a bit of a slut despite the fact she's hot, single and going to die young in a year anyway) which I think is funny in how it aligns with Renoir's view that it's all just stories that don't matter, despite her being shown as a complete person who has just as much to lose as anyone there.
Sciel and Lune are basically the Lumiere reps by the end and their existences are considered flippantly by these godlike beings who mostly want to destroy their world.
Sciel particularly understands everyone's actions though, she says herself she'd throw Verso under the bus in a heartbeat to get her husband back. With that goal right in front of her, though, she has to just watch him destroy her entire world instead.
She still liked him.
Doesn’t mean she is fine with dying.
yeah but she isnt painted, shes a real hooman been
painted alicia had 0 color because aline didnt want to bother with pigmentation i guess lol
she clearly doesn't give much of a shit about the others outside of their relationship to her
With that i'm inclined to agree actually. She hyper focuses on her friends but I can't blame her for that honestly, I would be the same.
"do painted people have souls" because it doesn't fucking matter.
it does because you, the PLAYER choose the ending. It should matter to you.
Yeah we will both drown now dumbass addict
nothing gets wasted, the devs thought about it
you can farm golgra for upgrade mats
with maelee you can just one shot her every time
incredible
You get skill points back and the Lumina is automatically applied to his replacement.
the fuck are you doing in this thread bro get out
all of gustave lumina points and level get transferred to verso
I don't know Anon. Somehow I don't think she would reassure Verso by grasping his hand if she wasn't fine with dying. She would just stand there and glare like Lune did.
Yes and? You think gestrals would care?
Honestly, I expected her to throw more of a shitfit
She did just finish apologizing in the last scene about erasing his painted sister. She had no moral high ground to lecture him from.
She would just stand there and glare like Lune did.
shit made me laugh so hard. Best ending
You can do the same shit with the Merchant in the Drafts but you also get 15k Chroma and 1-2 Lumina points everytime.
sits on the floor like a toddler having a tantrum
Early 20th century/late 19th century setting
Writers who might also have the power to create worlds
I can tell you exactly what's going on in France:
Nothing good.
alicia is the secret writer who caused the fire, clea is chasing shadows
writers didnt do nuffin
why didn't you keep torturing the boy?
Women
Oh no problem, I’ll just sift through hours of someone else’s (who?) play through and hope he spoke to the kid at the right place. Idiot. Sorry you can’t remember or you missed it.
she's a hapa
man, what a face and expression
just being the last human alive with a front row seat to see the world end and theres nothing you can do to stop it
if she enters the "room" with the soul she just vanishes earlier like all her friends just did
run into serpenhare by accident
help
VersooooooRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
They would be too dead to care.
The new gestrals might not care but that is because they never died.
I mean, what else is there to do
From her perspective her and everything she ever knew will be permanently deleted from existence because one guy really wants to die and has lied to her like 12 different times to achieve that goal
She rather live in the wonderland for her own sake than to live in the real world but keep the painting alive without being able to come back.
Again, it's hard to accept this stance for me because the "real" world is as much "real" as the canvas. It's a matter of where you want to live: in a world where you have a loving family or in a world where you have a collection of turbo cunts that hate you instead of a family. Seems pretty clear cut to me honestly.
Maybe instead of trying to fix the catastrophe that already happened Renoir should have raised his children better and/or chosen a better not mentally ill wife.
pov you are a writer
That's cool as hell they should make a game about that
everyone reacts exactly the same in all situations
Maybe if the painted people actually were robots or dolls you would have a point.
Yeah buy aside from battle, their only occupation is merchants, soooo….
Good on the devs for tackling the Link's Awakening plot angle, but doing it in a refreshing way that feels unique
Jaheira is Aline/Paintress.
3 BG3 niggas in this.
turbo cunts that hate you instead of a family
Source: I ignored the actual game and made it up
Hearing monoco say “what lovely feet!” in battle the first time cracked me up hard.
She shouldn't be choosing between the two is the point of her retardation. The painting could continue to exist and her and her mother could spend years and years and years in it, just not all consecutively. The would have to balance their time between the worlds, not even evenly. To do so, they would get even more years with Verso's world, but they are too addicted to play the long game and both try to just kill themselves with a binge so the painting must be destroyed to force them to detox and have a shot of a similar setup of indulgent fantasy, but in a different canvas.
she should be jumping with excitement for her world getting destroyed
how ungrateful
Still can't provide proof
Just take the L lil bro.
clair obscur is also an technique used in photography and filmmaking
They aren’t even real fake paintings. They are broken chroma decayed reincarnations of previous paintings.
Renoir loved her, Aline was just being strict, Verso also loved her.
Clea is the one who calls out on her bullshit and sees how useless she really is.
aline probably hates her
clea treats her like shit but might not hate her
at least renoir loves her
Sciel died like a boss. She died like a toddler. Simple as.
shit, i didn't even realize. the writers must the british, while the painters are the french.
Exactly. Sciel accepted her death so she decided to comfort Verso in her final moments instead of defying him. Glad you agree.
Honestly Renoir really fucked up by going into the painting and leaving his daughters. Maybe if he let Maelle know she's still loved she wouldn't be so inclined to stay in the painting, but I also understand the guy because if my bitch wife remade our family in Sims 4 and left everyone behind I would be livid
The game tells you that Aline painted Alicia fully with her burn scars because she blames her for Verdi’s death.
Sure seems like a very loving family.
She touches the back of his hand, brushing it away
clea is nicer to alicia when you beat the endless tower
seems she values strength above all
aline probably hates her
literally tells her she loves her dearly but she is a trick sent by Renoir
is rewritten by her to have a life a whole and healed self in the canvas and only lost her parents because of Renoir's shit
Bro why didn't you play the game before talking about it?
Verso DIES to save his sisters life
A small bit of his soul is trapped in a painting, wishing to move on
Sister tryes to kill herself to keep the small bit of her brothers soul in torment
Brother has to kill himself AGAIN to save his sister AGAIN
holy fuck, my IRL sister's name is Alicia to and I swear to god this is how she would act fucking woman, Verso was right, dad was right. woman be crazy (Celi is ok)
shit all over my dead son's canvas by adding niggers to it
remake my family, but deliberately choose to make my dumb selfish daughter scarred and mute
*stares*
shut up Jerkso
I picked Maelle’s ending first because despite disagreeing with her views, I don’t blame her for not wanting to be a physically scarred mute invalid. Then I played her sidequest and now I’m happy Verso buckbroke her into being Alicia again
Is NG+ worth doing if I'm done with Simon or better to just start a new save file? Does Maelle just one shot everything?
Honestly Renoir really fucked up by going into the painting
What else was he going to do? Stand there and watch his wife literally rot away?
Hey kids, you know that I love you right? No no mom is doing perfectly well sitting there for weeks now going back to your room and play with your dolls.
stated multiple times she blames alicia for verso's death and that's why she drew notAlicia as a mute monochrome burn victim
did you?
what would you do in her situation?
walk in and die? or stay out and watch the end
Did you finish her relationship levels? Because what Verso did to her was far worse.
man did you listen to any of aline's dialogue to alicia? straight up hateful.. also she didn't paint over alicia on purpose when she came into the canvas. aline didn't even know she entered
She was highly intelligent, she knew there was no good outcome to be had in either way, its verso lying that pissed her off
Bro she made the painted Alicia burned and mute as punishment AND she made painted Renoir remember real Verso's death. She's a bitch and a half
Why does everyone in this game look like someone turned on Big Head Mode?
No it wasn't. Verso didn't kill Gustave. He just didn't bother to intervene.
That sidequest is probably the funniest bit of projection from Maelle in the entire game.
Oh my painted self, you want to be erased? No problem, here I'll erase you :)
Oh don't worry Verso it's what she wanted :)
Then later
NOOO YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO WANT TO DISAPPEAR. NOOOOOO YOU MUST STAY I WILL FORCE YOU TO STAY FOREVER UNTIL I DIE
She can always come back to it
b-but papa will destroy it
Only if you keep smoking
masturbate furiously, as in look really angry while I did it.
*Gommages u*
How do you respond without being mad?
Clea seems like a nice person, but the antics of her family turned her into a no non-sense hardass. Esquie literally tells you they used to be good friends.
they work out at the library
she's barely fucking coherent. She comes back in to help her directly afterwards anyways and they're clearly doing fine in the Verso ending, proving Renoir and Clea 100% correct
you do know painted alicia is not alicia right
just because you make up a character in fanfiction based on someone real it doesnt affect the real one in any way
she blames alicia for verso's death, which is kind of true, and verso was his clear "favorite child".
NG+ Scales up quite a bit, enough to handle an endgame build, but like the endgame build most people would be able to toss together. The optimized minmaxed builds will still turn the game into a VN. It can be fun to see what you can do with Gustave with cool powerful pictos though
That’s just as bad.
And he did it just to manipulate Maelle.
She comes back in to help her directly afterwards anyways
she comes back because she's pissed renior booted her out
verso can't die without taking everyone with him, apparently. i suppose he was the one aline most wanted to preserve and recreate so he's immune to all gommaging & death.
FOREVER UNTIL I DIE
She shouldn't be choosing between the two is the point of her retardation
I can see your point but she clearly doesn't want to come back to the "real" world ever. Otherwise she would try to uphold her promise to Renoir. And, again, I can't blame her for that.
And you can make a case for her family not completely hating her. Clea in the tower, for example, but even she tells her to do what she wants, not what other people think she should do.
The mom clearly hates her guts and blames her though. She fucking painted her copy with burn scars and a raspy voice. That's just cruel.
Renoir seems to come around to actually showing some affection towards the end and he at least seems to realize that he should just let Maelle choose her fate since he knows that she's lying about coming back.
Anyway, I know i'm biased in this but I still support her decision to just run away.
Ok nice does it create a new save file or override existing file?
They were both the nicest
verso can't die without taking everyone with him
He tries to settle for being unpainted personally in Maelle's ending. He'd rather save Maelle and the last remnants of himself but when that's no longer a possibility he just begs for his own death.
WriterCHADS are too strong for painterfags
main game theme plays in one ending
horror movie chords plays in the other one, no main game theme
hmmmm
I think she came back to protect the canvas considering only mere moments passed between her being booted out and going back in
holy kek
why didn't maelle kill him then?
As a character, very. She doesn’t really “pop” in combat like the rest of them unfortunately. I bench her.
Even if her decision to run away is the right one, she does it wrong. The right way would be something like
Spend 16 years in the painting
Go to real world for a week to rebuild life force
Spend another 16 years in the painting or more as your paint abilities develop, working towards being able to spend 70 years like your parents
In the end, get decades and decades of good time in your favorite world surrounded by your brother dads and paintbrush dudes
But instead she simply chose
Spend like 17 years in the painting straight and let it kill you because going back to the real world for a little bit is just too big of an ask
start thinking i dont actually like games
play this game
realize i still like games
it's that easy
Can't you just get new tokens and get it?
dlc with clea and real verso when
Why doesn’t Clea just burn the painting or just throw paint on it? Everyone will wake up if the canvas is burned.
she was afraid Renoir would destroy it the second she left, and her mom was going to be trying to get back in constantly
Her ending is ass, but just being fair.
Overwrites, unfortunately
Why did you take so long you were able to get 3 gradient charges. Where's your Last Chance+Stendahl, anon?
We don't use logic around these parts, Verso.
The painted family is resistant to the yearly gommage, but painters can still erase them considering both painted Renoir and Alicia got erased and the real Renoir did offer to erase Verso at the start of act III
yes the whole ultimatum at the end is extremely retarded, there are many ways to resolve it this being the most obvious. after renoir promised not to destroy the canvas, she should've left to prove that he could trust her, and then come back like a week later.
verso is such a little bitch
at least maelle has the excuse of being a retarded teenager
But she hesitantly entered the painting because Clea made her to try and get the parents to fuck off. She was just too weak to control the chroma and got rebirthed into one of the Lumiere people and thus became too attached.
You die in the painting you die for real.
Game so kino it has people arguing ontological questions that have been argued since the dawn of time (still unanswered of course).
why didn't maelle kill him then?
because she's obsessed with her own personal happiness over everyone else. She refuses to accept that in her new perfect world her brother still wants to kill himself and end his own suffering. She's ultimately become addicted to the control the painted world offers, and the ending of the paint overwhelming her face ties back to when you see Aline bending over and close to death (which is what renews verso's decision to end the painted world).
Huh can I duplicate the save files somehow? Otherwise I'll have to save my endgame save in some folder.
canvas art online
Source?
Opposite actually
why didn't the crack addict just stop taking crack???
Because she's selfish and wants to spend time with him, she gave him the ability to age and patted herself on the back
you have no idea of the intevention + fortune's fury combo in the lategame. she is the midwife of your ability to oneshot literally anything.
for some reason they can't do that. maybe their "soul" is in the canvas while they're diving in there and literally destroying it will destroy their soul or something
took away his scar that he never healed on purpose, too
she was afraid Renoir would destroy it the second she left
That's just the excuse she used, she was never ever going to leave the canvas unless forced to. Renoir rightfully has absolutely no trust left in either Alicia or Aline to pace themselves, because he just watched the most competent paintress he knows and married break all of her own rules and almost kill herself.
Rebuilding that trust while retaining Verso's world was unlikely, but it's the only option that doesn't result in Maelle dying anyway in a week or two and the painting being destroyed anyway
but she killed painted alicia? yeah i guess that is pretty hypocritical.
Verso is a backstabbing scumbag through and through. Poor Lune, what else could she have done but seethe at the end, choosing to give this faggot chance after chance.
Anon, you have clearly never dealt with a severe addict before. Dangling drugs in front of them "here bro you can use these in moderation" will always make things work.
Literally everyone in this story is right about everything they want and did nothing wrong, except the two people who get to choose the ending. Funny
my biggest thumbs up to this game was the voice acting and how they didn't get the usual American sonic cancer crew.
but she killed painted alicia?
yeah exactly. It shows she understands what the right thing to do would be, but she's completely detached from the consequences until it personally affects her fantasy
Opium!
Poison de rêve
Fumée qui monte au ciel
Opium!
It's a little bit chicken and egg, with Renoir wanting to destroy the canvas because Alicia and Aline don't want to leave it and the women not wanting to leave it because Renoir would destroy it but in this case we do know Aline's refusal to leave came first so Renoir is fairly justified in this. It sucks for Alicia that she's getting pre-empted because of her mom, but again her own ending suggests Renoir was right. Or wrong, as it turns out. Remember that he agrees to trust her after you beat him, he takes a big old huff of copium and actively chooses belief in the idea the she can moderate herself. The fact that she didn't believe in his belief is her own set of issues
Maelle ending is the one that has the best odds at destroying the family. Preventing them from creating and destroying more worlds.
Cycle. Broken.
This game, its tone, everything would NOT work with American voice actors. They simply do not have the soul for existential tragedy and dread, it's not part of the American cultural identity
Sorry, what do you mean? Verso is playing the piano like he always wanted.
Spend like 17 years in the painting straight and let it kill you because going back to the real world for a little bit is just too big of an ask
Do we even really know how many years she has? It's left intentionally vague. No point in arguing about that since I, for example, think that she has much more than 17 years.
Even if her decision to run away is the right one, she does it wrong
I don't think so. When you're blinded by trauma and pain all you want is to just not feel it ever again. Her decision may seem irrational but I completely understand it. I wouldn't want to see my mother for even a fucking second if I was her.
This is the best argument I've seen yet in favor of Maelle rnding. Dessendres are all dipshits and deserve death.
why didn't alicia just unpaint suicidal verso, and paint a new verso that doesn't know about the fire or anything?
Clea and Alicia hide the painting that their mom doesn't find it immediately
Mom gets kicked out and can't reenter immediately since she's severely weakend
yet she magically shows up in the finale battle, despite her being to weakened and having to find the painting first, while essentially no time could have past in the real world
voice actor of the best character in the game says for him, it's Verso's ending
CHADQUIE CREW STAY WINNING
youtube.com
but again her own ending suggests Renoir was right.
Verso calls her out on it that she never intended to leave and she never corrects him. She had her mind set even before entering the canvas.
I disagree. The game offers a lot of questions and ways you can look at it, but the ending really only cares about one of them, which is the grief of the Dessendre family and the escapism metaphor. It doesn't give a shit about the existential or moral questions about the lives of those in the canvas, either they're erased with the framing basically saying that it's a good thing all these lives are extinguished or just presented as an object of Maelle's escapism with the framing basically saying it's a bad thing for caring about the lives within the canvas because they're just getting in the way of the Dessendre's processing their grief.
Verso left the painting decades ago and a tiny piece of him was still in there. The only thing that would die if she burned the painting is that tiny piece of Verso.
Aline was not required at all to be in there for the painting to continue to exist. She just liked it because it reminded her of when Verso still engaged in her hobbies.
Everything about the painting is a completely selfish act on everyone’s part except Verso. He probably has other paintings he made as a mature adult, but he didn’t put much effort into them because he likes piano more.
If Aline really loved the true Verso and not the idea of what she wanted him to become she would listen to his music, not his paintings.
Letting the fucking Wriggers win
Literate hands typed your shitty little post. I'm coming for you, you pen-wiggling little connard.
This is the best argument I've seen against the Maelle ending. All of the people that don't get to exist if the painters don't paint them are of moral value too. This is hundreds of world's gone if they stop.
ywn experience the first gommage again after knowing very very little about the game
ywn experience the beach landing scene
ywn experience any of the reveals
ywn listen to any of the songs for the first time
there's so much is actually starting to set in and it's hurting anons, i wanna go to a canvas without memories to play again
Yeah, and on Anon Babble of all places. I didn't think I would ever see the day when Anon Babble is completely drowned by actual VIDEOGAME discussion. Crazy fucking times we live in huh?
The other paintings are perfectly fine though, only that one was that fucked over
they hid it before, not now. Renoir is still sitting in front of it in that same room and it's funny she didn't just fucking stab him IRL
I think both Verso and Maelle know that as soon as she leaves, the painting is getting destroyed.
I
FUCKING
HATE
PAINTERRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSS
Because she doesn't want a different Verso, they talk about it early in Act III
You're not Verso, you're you. I'm still Maelle though.
tolds her
All of the people that don't get to exist if the painters don't paint them are of moral value too. This is hundreds of world's gone if they stop.
this is just the fucking natalism argument again
she gave him the ability to age and patted herself on the back
Getting old sucks. Now he has do deal with that shit, too.
She also looks entirely content being gommaged with the town preAlicia.
Do they though? What if Renoir wakes up one day and decides to paint an eternal battlefield of hell?
painted Verso was Aline's creation, and she knows real Verso most accurately from birth to death. if Maelle tried it he'd be very different. arguably Gustav is basically how Verso would be painted from Maelle's perspective. including the way Verso sacrificed himself in the fire, Gustav kinda sacrifices himself vs Renoir to save her too.
The antinatalist's dream
bro what is this headcanon. if they could just burn the canvas irl and pop the mom out, then the dad obviously would have done that retard
falls in love with a fake painted version of a real person
real person is so disgusted by it she repaints her
also repaints this obsessed faggot into doing her bidding while she's away
Clea really is the chad of the family.
what, are you an anti-natalist or something? the unborn have a right to exist.
Sounds like something Clea would do, she's an actual psycho and she's also super talented to boot
maelle effectively dies with the rest of Lumiere at the end of act 2
This is like saying fertile people not having kids all the time are evil
maelle...
it's a good thing all these lives are extinguished
basically saying it's a bad thing for caring about the lives within the canvas
The painting is being destroyed in either ending, there is no reality in which Renoir or Clea don't erase the painting anyway once Alicia dies. The only difference is if Maelle is allowed to live out her perfect life there first via time dilation before dying in reall ife, or if she's forced out by Verso to live as Alicia.
The game specifically doesn't touch on the life within the canvas because neither Maelle or Verso really care about it, and rather just want to pursue their own goal.
Renoir only paint deep shit
More like being a thin skinned jealous psychotic bitch
I, for example, think that she has much more than 17 years
Her ending takes places pretty shortly after the end of the game by indications like the child she escorts being the same age as when she was escorting him in the prologue. Then it shows the painting taking it's toll already with the paint covering so much of her face and the thousand yard stare coupled with traditionally "unsettling" sounds. Even if she doesn't die right when it fades to black, she is clearly reaching her limit already
Everyone ignored that painting for decades until the fire. It requires no input from anyone to continue to exist. Verso was in his 20’s in the fire. He made it when he was a little kid.
the voices in the vocal tracks are the composer and director
pretty fucking based
I’m proud to award you your media literacy badge.
low iq take: Maelle was right and her happiness was more important
medium iq take: Verso/Renoir were right and fixing your family is more important no matter the cost
high iq take: Verso's creations and Lumiere are more important. They are the only innocents in the story and deserve their future and happiness more than any p*inter, but Maelle had to go live with them like a moron
there is little relationship between what is right to do and what is ethical to do. most people are regulated by societal expectations, not consequentialist calculations. still, when we consider the right action, we should apply dispassionate reasoning about who is harmed, whose preferences are violated, etc. aren't you glad that you were brought into this world?
Maybe they all should stop painting...
Clea stop posting on vietnamese basketweaving forums
I mean yes, every issue in the game was caused by them painting over Verso's art like a bunch of faggots, starting with Aline.
are you literally brain damaged? that's not what's being discussed. you're insisting the dad can just literally burn the canvas to get the mom out. there is clearly a reason he can't choose such an easy option
Both could have happened, but Maella had a to be a lying psycho bitch
Women
Only smoke your opium during the weekends
Found a fucking wrigger
Yes and no? Theoretically I'm sure the painting world would continue to function normally if everyone fucked off, but the problem is they can't stay away.
Aline is too distraught over losing Verso that she literally made up a fake family to hang out with, even giving them immortality. Alicia is now obsessed with it as well, Renoir has nothing better to do than try to destroy the painting, and Clea just wants the shit over with already.
As long as the painting exists, the family will keep repeating the same cycle.
Yeah, unrelatedly I should go to bed
*stays on Anon Babble for 6 more hours*
it was so cruel how the game builds up lune and monoco and sciel's hopes and histories and then discards them all like they're nothing.
this, it was just him hoping his sister would go live her fucking life
Pretty sure that's not accurate. The canvas doesn't need the painter to exist. I want to say this is talked about in-game.
When verso's splinter stopped painting, verso began to disappear, but everything else was fine.
In Verso's ending the reason Sciel, Monocco and Esquie die is because they cross the barrier and enter that weird space area. That's why Lune doesn't die. Because she doesn't cross.
I thought Verso's splinter was the reason the canvas keeps existing too until an anon pointed this out to me.
aren't you glad that you were brought into this world?
I would have preferred not to. But now I'm stuck here against in my will.
Verso's canvas, world, monoco esquie and the gestrals would have continued to exist without any issue if no one else touched verso's canvas
Isn't this just the trolley problem?

Clair Obscur 2: Writers Guild
the writers power is leaking into reality
Clair Obscur 3: Music Guild
the music power is reshaping reality
Clair Obscur 4: Videogame Guild
the gaming power is trapping real people into a videogame world
the low and medium iq take are practically the same thing, you're just prioritizing the wants of different characters
Nothing stopping you from killing yourself.
Shut the fuck up and play the piano, Verso.
I think it's more likely they're going to do something completely different
fuck you guys I'm going back into my going into games machine
That Act 3 beginning was such a mindfuck lore dump of information. Like having every question you had answered in a few scenes. I was audbily going "huhhh???????????????" like I was a basedjack redditor
It's pretty lame how the ending is only about 2 characters and nothing else really matters beyond that point. Monoco doesn't even say a single word for the last hour of the game apart from "Those expeditioners are fierce fighters."
most people are regulated by societal expectations, not consequentialist calculations
This actually touches on a Jean Renoir movie. The Rules of the game is basically about the "right" thing to do and how for most it is better to be doing what is socially accepted even if it is at odds with common morality. Renoir portrays a character in the film with a quote only too applicable to the ending debate "You see, in this world, there is one awful thing, and that is that everyone has his reasons.'”
A whole lot of people actually do.
Esquie and Monoco help Maelle with the concert at the end
Why would they do this if it were a bad ending? If it were, they'd just fuck off or they'd get their mate Verso out of there
It's the "are you a normalfag or not" problem
He can. He just didn’t want to, because it would kill Verso’s best painting. He wanted everyone to leave it and engage with it in moderation. None of the endings end with the painting being destroyed. The only thing that gets destroyed are Aline’s fanfictions that she added on.
I was audbily going "huhhh???????????????" like I was a basedjack redditor
thats because you are a basedjack redditor
that's not how it's presented, though. the game doesn't linger on it at all, it essentially ignores sciel and lune and cuts to the dessendres. you spend the whole game with lune and they give her one shot of looking pissed off then it's lights out.
im fine with just a writers dlc
Yeah exactly. In fact I bet Verso's painting was downright beautiful before the rest of the family shat all over it and left big rotten purple beaches and big toilet heads eating the landscape.
I don't remember if its explicitly stated the canvas will continue to exist without a painter, but the fact that real life Verso is dead but the painted world still existed and allowed Aline to enter it should be proof of that.
I think the little kid is the last remaining soul fragment of Verso when he created the painting, and possibly continues to keep painting long after as a way to keep the world going. The issue is the kid got "tired" of painting because of the conflict destroying the poor boy's world when all he wanted to do was create a world where he could go and go adventuring with his dog, esquie and gestral buddies.
If Aline and Maelle weren't literally obsessed with this fucking man's death, the painted world could still exist, Lumiere as well (even though they were created by Aline to begin with). If she actually fucked off and left it alone, I don't see why the painting couldn't just exist and the "world" behave like nothing ever happened.
Gotta ask, why the fuck did they mess up verso's existing canvas instead of doing escapism in a new canvas, goddamit aline basically doomed her own son canvas, it woulda been fine if left alone
Maybe if these people had some self control you could go in for a while, explore for a bit, meet esquie and the gestrals and get out again
But nooooo they had to paint over things and make up a fake family and all sorts of bullshit
if the sequel takes place outside in their real world i hope she is a party member in clair obscur 2
I'm a Clea simp too. There should be an option to convince Clea to go visit Francois. He deserves it.
I would bet writers is sequel territory and DLC would just be Expedition 0.
if you didnt notice all the dried up blobs of ink around the landscape, and put that together with the Fracture to figure out this was a canvas painting all along, you are 100 IQ
But it's also the point. They're built as characters so the player can see clearly where Alicia is coming from. In the end, it's about Alicia's desire to stay with her friends and a chance at a 'real' life compared to her real-world mere existence, vs Verso's desire to stop existing because he hates it here and Renoir's desire to get his family back. No one's 'wrong' exactly, it comes down to morals, but it's vital for the other characters to have existed and been significant up to that point, but not so vital AT that point.
i liked it a lot actually. finally piecing it all together as the hints got denser and denser was pretty thrilling.
I think it's implied it was the only painting that Verso ever made, so it has a special connection to him as it's literally his own world with special characters.
can I fuck chatgpt? no
can I fuck maelle? yes, therefor, real
Get nicer haircut for Maelle
Get really mad at how crunchy the hair looks
Disable film gran
Barely improves.
It takes a lot for me to suggest a woman lead but I kinda want her crazy evil ass to be the protagonist of a sequel. She clearly is the type to actually commit to doing shit.
Yes, and that is intentional. You also don't get them in the other ending outside of facial shots of them looking like zombies.
They weren't the point of anything. They aren't "real" and the question of sentient paint people isn't worth arguing because the game doesn't care if they are or are not. To the painters, they make hundreds and thousands of worlds and leave them behind just as easily.
Clea would mother strong masculine children. pure wife material
#justUE5things
Because Verso's Canvas was the only one painted by him and it had a sliver of his soul or essence in it. They say it multiple times over the game that destroying the canvas is destroying whatever is left of Verso
Maelle is canonically selfish. States by this very dialogue. It's here randomly.
Its over for you.
the refer to it as his first, so maybe there are others but who knows
The paint connections are numerous and obvious. It's just easy to attribute that to aesthetic though, and double down on the game being inspired by Belle Epoque paintings.
Monoco doesn't even say a single word for the last hour of the game apart from "Those expeditioners are fierce fighters."
Because he knew what was coming. Hence the Noco revive to spent time with him and his conversation with Verso.
I think they are both wrong. Maelle is correct that the canvas should not be destroyed, but if she was a good person she would promise to leave it after restoring it. Verso is correct that Maelle shouldn't be in the painting, but he's retarded for thinking that destroying Verso's creations is the answer.
GET BACK IN THE WHEELCHAIR MAELLE YOU CRIPPLED CUNT
damn nigger do you need to be a nigger? dont be mean to anon
There are clearly probably piano scores written by Verso that have his true soul inside them. The painting is just like a minecraft level your kid made when he was 8.
I should fix this
doesn't fix it
lives in the painting with her mother's creations that were not part of the painting
WOMAN MOMENT
i think it's a flaw that the game suddenly stops caring about them at the end when it's been building them up and deepening them for like 20 hours of playtime at this point. by any reasonable standard they matter. their lives have moral value. the way they get shafted in both endings is just wrong, and it's not wrong in a way that makes any kind of point that i can see.
She’s probably incredibly pissed off at herself that she allowed herself to be lied to and betrayed for like the tenth time. Brutal ending for Lune’s feet.
Again: you're telling a crack addict to put down the crack. They're not going to and will lie and lie until they're dead from it
for me, painters being able to create actual humans that have their own thoughts, soul and can reproduce it's the only thing that doesn't make any actual sense, like at all, every other creation is fair play and i can tolerate verso because he was made from a fraction of a soul, but lumiere humans? literally lost me with that shit, even considering magical powers
yes
This. Anyone trying to argue if the paint people are "real" or have "souls" are just being disingenuous like Maelle. They are just mere props in the context of the actual story, which is the Dessendre's family drama.
her fault for being weak to the Big V's Big C
not using her white skin mod
lune's feet must be preserved at all cost
When you really think about it Gustav deserved to die for being nice to Maelle.
Possibly so, we do know that there is such a thing as the writers (who appear to be in direct conflict with the painters), but the question is can the family access the music world as well?
only niggers enjoy white skinned women
Killing them is a mercy, don't bring more humans there Aline you dumb cunt
Aline is the strongest painter and was head of the council, if that's any indication. She taught Renoir how to paint and control himself so he doesn't get lost in the painting world. It's also why Renoir needed Clea to hop on and create Nevrons to stop the flow of Chroma just to give Renoir a fighting chance.
Give AI 20 more years and this will be a real conversation.
there's no evidence in the game that they're lesser beings in any way. what exactly are they missing that makes them "fake"?
go play the piano bro
the dad wants to destroy it and it's clearly destroyed in the verso ending dude
I know, I believe she's inherently not a good person by the end. Her and painted Verso both say equally unforgivable lies.
Keep dangling opioids in the addict's face saying they can have 1mg from the stash every month if they're good
Surely this won't backfire
not as good as Metaphor for me, but it did do some things better and it's so close I understand people who like it more (disregarding normalfags who only came for hype and have not played a single other RPG ever)
RPG fans eating good these last few years. Raidou soon, too.
what are some of the things metaphor did better?
I'm saying that within the context of the game they do not matter. They are literally props, which is why Anons were complaining about only Maelle and Verso being relevant by the end. It's literally by design. Now if YOU want to attribute anything more to them then that's okay, but don't act like the story cares.
They can’t. That is why is it just the mom being selfish. She just wants to be with the part of her son that was like her. She doesn’t care about the REAL Verso, just the little kid that still obeyed her. That’s why in the Monolith everything is about her relationship with her children, not the adults they grew into.
RPG mechanics.
His first, but also his last. He actually didn't like painting, he preferred music so he made this canvas to humor his parents but never followed it with another.
Combat, parries are fine and I beat many of the game's bosses on expert in 1 turn taking zero damage, but it's not my preferred combat style. Art style and general game content along with monster design and monster variety goes to Metaphor too.
I give the edge in story, music, and voice acting to Expedition 33.
There is no evidence at all in the Verso ending that they destroyed the canvas. They just removed the flow of Chroma going into it.
Gustav keeps a diary
Maelle WRITES in it
it even gives her a special ability
Maelle is a WRITER confirmed
Finite amoint of death vs infinite amount of suffering
There is no evidence at all in the Verso ending that they destroyed the canvas.
as long as you ignore them with the candle held toward it and Clea saying they have to destroy it
lol
Bitch please. Is there anything more infuriating than seeing something horrible about to happen and you can take no action whatsoever? Worst feeling ever.
Sciel took action, though?
For me it's really just 'holy shit two cakes' and nothing more. And as you say, not just two cakes, there's been a fuckload of great RPG content recently, and big companies are STILL pretending it's not a viable model
God they had so many funny bits in this game.
bro are actually illiterate?
this only truly ends if you destroy the Canvas
that means stopping the final sliver of Verso's soul from painting
what do you think painted verso convinces verso's soul to do, genius? clea literally says this is how the canvas must be destroyed
can some lorefags explain a dimwit like me why maelle has chrome or whatever on her eyes during her ending
He would have died in the draft in 10 years anyway
The painting is still there because any painter can just inject their chroma into it. Even if they remove Verso’s chroma, they can just inject their own and keep it going.
She's losing herself in the painting and basically dying.
Yeah, for me they are both 8.5/10s and I just arbitrarily need put one ahead of the other. I would put Visions of Mana at an 8, Yakuza 8 as an 8, Star Ocean 2 R as a 9, and Rebirth as an 8.5 (I did not like Remake as a disclaimer), just to ballpark where I see other games that have recently come out (on PC).
That's what happens IRL when the painters go into the paintings, it's just to show she's controlling everything happening there, not simply living in it
This guy is pretending to be a moron for (You)s
she is actively using her powers, implying she is maintaining the dead people she resurrected. Remember the world exists without a painter so there should be no need for her to use her powers at all. She's addicted to them and the control, and she likely has to take over her mom's role of maintaining the humans since they are not native inhabitants of Verso's Funland
Holy shit. Imagine World War 2 when Hitler has Painter powers.
Consider as well that Gustave and Simon are both missing their left arms and use lightning. Gustave was a writer influence on Maelle.
The painting continued to exist after Verso was dead, because his chroma was still in the painting. The paintings continue changed because of the chroma of the rest of the family. The only way a painting can fully die is if you destroy the canvas or remove all chroma from it. There is no evidence in any ending that this happened.
The irony being if Hitler had painter powers there wouldn't have been WW2
source: my headcanon that ignores real canon
fucking made me laugh
crippled cunt
Depends on your definition of real, but yes they are.
Simon was written by Aline because she was upset that Clea still didn’t have a husband or grandkids in the real world. She wrote a romantic partner for her fake world Clea. When real Clea broke him and fake Clea the chroma decayed and reincarnated into Gustave and Sophie.
Metaphor combat is severely broken by end game and also easy, you're invincible if you setup your group with evasion and nullifications since the enemy loses all their turns. Also the retarded Royal Archetypes were a big mistake for builds. E33 mechanically is much better, they just needed a 999,999 damage cap so you still have to stay awake to do dodging and parrying manually
No, the painting continued to exist because Verso's soul was still stuck painting (Clea literally says this) and all the chroma are the ink from the rest of the family. No painter (Verso) or no ink means the death of the painting. Both endings end up with Verso's world (the canvas) being gone (destroy verso's soul or maelle dying irl)
Metaphor combat is severely broken by end game and also easy
so just like this game where monsters don't even get a turn on Expert even if you just use level 19 weapons and don't even use Maelle?
The game never says Aline specifically made a romantic partner for painted Clea. Simon was a part of expedition 0. They ended up meeting and fell in love naturally. Aline didn't make "Julie" for Verso either, he just fell in love with her
Don’t ever let retards gaslight you that painted characters have human rights
v*rso ending
maelle forced to live a life of complete as disfigured goblin abomination, unable to even speak without unbearable pain, despised by her own mother for killing her brother
maelle ending
I have to play le piano! ohnono!
do v*rsotards even
Go to another painting retard
It won't have Lune's feet
Literally everyone I have watched that picked Maelle was the most juvenile infantile person.
NO I WANNA HAVE FUN
I JUST WANNA PARTY AND NOT THINK
VERSO AND RENOIR ARE BULLIES THEY HAD IT COMIN
NO? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE BECOMES AN ADDICTED CRAZED TYRANT IN HER ENDING?
based retards

Bro, I'm a big Meguro fan too and I didn't expect him to get topped so quickly. It's pretty cool
Remake them, without the gross muscled legs
Thats not a "I want", thats a "maybe I should". As in, he feel obligated because of his sister but his actual desire being stopping painting
IT'S NOT THE SAME
IT HAS TO BE THE ORIGINAL LUNE
verso ending
Maelle is smiling, her family is smiling, her friends appear to wave them away, main theme plays, you can now fuck her eye socket
maelle ending
Verso is seething, no one genuinely smiles, weird ass music, black and white, you cant fuck her eye socket
do maelletards even
they just needed a 999,999 damage cap
It's a JRPG first and foremost, dodging and parrying should not be required. And it isn't required on expert and on the hardest superboss. But a 999,999 cap specifically for Simon makes it impossible to beat without dodging or parrying.
None of that played into my decision. I knew right away it was going to suck either way. What made me pick Maelle is that the inhabitants of the world don't deserve to be wiped out.
not being in pain for once is a nice bonus
YOU SELFISH WHORE REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
ok anon
her ending is called "A Life to Paint" in the game files. You have to be severely retarded to think that it's any kind of a good ending. Of course this being 4chins, we got those retards.
how about don't get tricked by your mortal enemies and get your brother killed?
And if you do, tale some responsibility? No? Too much to ask?
It's a JRPG first and foremost, dodging and parrying should not be required
umm, your valkyrie profile?
Bruh. Damn.
Tanned farmgirl is a good vibe.
