I mean yes, sure, Asgore did actually kill the children and/or enabled monsters to kill them (which doesn't really make sense on why they're so easy to talk to if they want to kill you) but it can become a bit of a meaningless debate. It's like arguing who is more wrong, the person who gives you the weapon knowing fully weoo you're going to commit atrocities or the one who did it? Both are. The giver for not stopping him out of lack of morality and enabling it, essentially being the catalyst, and the committer, for doing heinous, unforgivable acts.

I think Toby wrote Toriel as a critique of the "mother" stereotype and how they supposedly can do no wrong, just because they're a mother. Thing is, he didn't account most of UT players haven't had enough motherly love growing up and became obsessed about banging the MILF goat.

I don't think you understand that that is explicitly not what Toby was trying to indicate. He genuinely thought Toriel was in the right. She isn't presented as flawed or wrong in any capacity. No one calls her out on her bullshit.

That's the fucking point. She left her kingdom, her subjects suffering. Asgore had to deal with the bullshit for himself while she was playing house in the Ruins. And everybody welcomes her back with open arms in the good ending because Asgore's way was apparently "too violent" and her way, which is just as flawed is perceived as "good". Only Undyne had the balls to call her bullshit out in the neutral endings.

I am struggling to think of a reason any of them *would* do that, especially when most neutral endings force her to fuck off back to the Ruins or otherwise refrain from taking the throne. Animosity towards the queen being a shithead would be something to hash out on the surface and not like five seconds away from prophecied freedom.
Even if unintentional, I still think UT Toriel is a great foil of the mother stereotype. DT Toriel is just the bitter divorced mom in comparison.
