Outer Wilds

It was boring and had terrible controls.
I don't get the hype at all.
Its premise essentially punishes you for playing the game and makes you just waste time.

Massivly overrated.

forced soul

technically, by the strict definition of "forced soul", the base game of outer wilds can't be "forced soul" since its the developer's first game. For example, the outer wilds DLC *could* be classified as "forced soul", since it wasn't the developer's first thing

are you that anon from the other day that just finished and wanted to talk about it?
you do know you don't have to do ragebait OPs, right?

Dark Bramble was cool. Rest of it was boring.

What's wrong with the controls?

I love puzzle games but I can't control the spaceship.
Babi is You? One of the best games ever made.
Obra Dinn? One of the best games ever made.
Golden Idol? One of the best games ever made.
Outer Wilds? Spaceship crash simulator. If you want me to play your fucking puzzles then allow me to access them. Don't lock them behind your fuckass shitty racing simulator mechanics which should not even be an important part of the game.

You can autopilot the vast majority of the spaceship control away. There are zero sections where difficult control is presented.

Oh I'll also add The Witness to the list, not because the puzzles were especially good, but because they were all presented to me and I never had to play space Mario kart to get to them. I'll always appreciate a puzzle game which allows me to play its puzzles without playing fucking F-Zero.

the first thing the game says is to use a controller

I tried to get into it, I really did.
I'm a filthy pirate and I bought this game with its DLC just to practically force myself to play it, and I couldn't.
I respect what it does, I just cannot.

Does using a controller really make that much of a difference? Genuine question.

I just couldn't get into it because the vacuum of space is kind of a phobia for me and the controls of the spaceship were kinda bad

Reddit the Game. OH MY SCIENCE is that outer space?!?!

Of course I did, it's one of the best games ever made.
It really does. I'm a kb+m player for nearly everything, even Dark Souls or Monster Hunter, but navigating the ship is much, much more intuitive with the controller, you really ought to use it.

for thrusting up and down, its a big difference
i dont know how you would land softly with a keyboard

Dark Bramble was cool.

It's literally just a lost forest type maze. It's pretty boring.

I can't control the spaceship.

skill issue. You have autopilot and a landing camera to help you.

I just couldn't get into it because the vacuum of space is kind of a phobia

I played probably 15-20 hours exploring every planet, but I could not do the ash twin planet.
The timed sections with rising sand are too much of a phobia for me. I felt like I was having a panic attack.

The most boring planet was the coolest

Planet that has a black hole at the core

Slowly being destroyed and sucked in

Walking on walls puzzles, high gravity, low gravity puzzles

Ocean planet

Low gravity, high gravity, walking on walls puzzles and a fucking satellite you can crash into accidentally as you get sucked up the tornados

Tornado in the middle contains one of the coolest puzzle areas of the game

Tornado puzzle to get into the core

Jellyfish puzzle

Not to mention the fucking Hourglass twins but no

The spooky section where you are just drifting around slowly waiting to arrive at your destination otherwise you get instagibbed with hardly any feedback is the best planet, period

Oh yeah, forgot i was on Anon Babble
Fucking contrarians

Not really unless you are used to a controller
When Devs tell you to use a controller over K+M they are just ashamed to admit they dont know how to have ergonomic controls for it or were too lazy to implement them, its the "Controller is for gaming" -excuse

Ive controlled helicopters, jets, spaceships and spacesuits (Hardspace shipbreaker notably requires alot of precision) in many games and never found the need to use a controller for them
Its consolefag cope, for 99% of the situations you dont need two analog controls, just a single one is enough (to control your camera)
And funnily enough, the mouse is way more precise for controlling your camera

How would you land softly with a keyboard

Tap your keyboard? its literally that simple, the game is EXTREMELY forgiving for landings
Even if you manage to hit something at 300m/s as long as you repair your ship you arent going to ever lose your ship
And hitting something at that speed pretty much means you have no fucking clue how to control anything, even with a controller

it's the best game ever so yeah why wouldn't I admit it

Turn that paraphobia into a paraphilia and you'll be motivated

Anon Babbleturds getting filtered by the spaceship controls of all things

Of course what do you want from a community of uttermensch.
