Now that the dust has settled, who was in the wrong here?
Morrowind
Dagoth Ur was right
Everyone else was wrong
We're up to the 4th era and we have yet to find see a single instance of Vivec not being wrong.
I'm about to start my 2nd playthrough, any tips for a mage build?
If you ain’t biking across the American desert, and worshiping Marlon Brando, in between playing Morrowind then you ain’t doing anything right
Don't mind me, I'm just here for the sloadpost
Is he wrong about showing remorse committing the murder?
Dagoth was the wrongest there on that mountain who wasn't a dwarf tho
If he'd given Nerevar the tools back when he asked for them and stayed by his side, he could have saved the poor guy and stopped Almsivi from becoming Almsivi
Doesn't post sload
Did they actually mutilate him? Where is it described and why did they do it?
I mean yes? He already did it and it's too late to fix it so he might as well own it.
Set yourself on fire, for teh keks.
Play Dunmer and enjoy killing cliff racers, who now can not dodge.
They cut off his feet at least as far as I remember it being described but that may be some sort of le esoteric allegory considering when Molag Bal raped Vivec he "smashed his feet" and then chopped his legs off.
Dagoth Ur was wrong for spreading these lies
Shor killed Nerevar
Biggest giga-TRVKE in this thread. Everyone always forgets about Wulfharth being at Red Mountain.
The Nordic account has Lorkhan taking down Nerevar. Wulfharth/Shor/Ysmir got blasted to ash by Vivec in their bullshit stories.
why is transferring the tamriel data files to the morrrowind data files taking way too long? I'm only getting 500 kb of speed
Oh I don't post it, I just wait for someone else to
is it windows defender?
Sotha Sil cut off his face so he could forget his identity. He also did it so he could return as any race.
Almalexia cut off his feet so he would be unable to return home. She also cut off his feet so he could return from any path.
Vivec impaled him with Muatra (his spear) so Nerevar would forget who killed him. He also impaled him so he could return as either gender.
is this lore from Tribunal?
It's your standard bullshit esoteric lore from forum posts and Kirkbride's rants.
didn't they do it because Azura told them she's reincarnate Nerevar so they tried to ensure when he did come back, it would far enough away that he'd likely never make it to vvardenfell
Don't you see where you really are? Don't you know who Shor really is? Don't you know what this war is?
Yes. They did it to both hinder and help Nerevar's reincarnation.
Even Vivec admits they made a mistake and are waiting for Nerevar to come back and save them
i only beat the game last night and didn't feel like doing Tribunal right after. I was hoping Vivec would answer my questions if I went back to him after destroying the heart but I kinda forgot. Can I find more from the vanilla expansions about that whole situation? Right now Im just going by the scrolls. Vivec doesn't mention the Nerevarine's death at all, while his shield brother described him being poisoned with Candles and shit. Just wondering if they confirm/deny the story. I haven't looked into it much but I thought Tribunal was about killing those three.
If you're using Tamriel Rebuilt, it adds an excellent epilogue quest to the main story that starts after you beat Tribunal, it should hopefully give you satisfaction. Maybe not in the way you want but it's still good and should make you feel able to close the book on the question of what happened on Red Mountain.
Nerevarine canonically didn't kill Vivec
As for the other two, you'll find out when you play Tribunal
Telvanni aesthetic is peak, shame ESO mucks it up
Why did they remove his face and feet?
How and Why would they want to help a guy they just killed to reincarnate?
Because they loved him.
Does ESO do anything right?
His reincarnation was inevitable. And even though they killed him for godhood, they still wanted him to be happy in his next life.
I liked ESO's depiction of Sotha Sil a lot. I especially liked the part where he tells you Vivec will never be a woman.
it's got decent atmosphere if ur just looking to do some quests.
Good writing for Sotha Sil's DLC, surprisingly.
Lorelet here, did the Dunmer not care that Vivec was Molag Bal's fucktoy? Isn't he considered one of the bad daedra?
Nerevar killed Dumac, Dagoth and defeated Shor by severing his heart once more. He was severely injured in the free-for-all and tried to contact Azura. His ritual was sabotaged by the Almsivi with poison, and he begged them not to use the Tools, but they didn't listen. They murdered him and Azura saw it all. She was so disgusted that she cursed the entire Chimer species.
I do imagine Mephala must've creamed herself from such a huge betrayal.
The gay porn lessons are banned books by the temple so yeah, they did care
Betrayal is Molag's sphere not Mephala's
Molag has sex with Vivec's disembodied head
the union results in children
Vivec tracks these children down and kills them with his penis spear
upon death they explode and become the foundation for many of Vvardenfell's cities
what the actual fuck
what the fuck am i reading?
Dagoth Ur was about to destroy them and their divinity. At least the Nerevarine would take care of that. Also Vivec had a keikaku plan in the long run and was presumably hoping that working with the Nerevarine and maybe getting away with everything was a better option that trying to fight him and eating shit and dying.
The games, expansions, lore, and Kirkbride himself:
The Tribunal are extremely evil false gods who betrayed you in a past life
Almost every player:
The Tribunal are the good guys and Vivec is so cool!
Mephala is a Daedric Prince who is associated with murder, lies, deception
Molag Bal is associated with rape and domination.
Your path to Enlightenment
he hasn't read the 36 sermons
you shame us all
What are the pros and cons in terms of mods in regards to MWSE vs OpenMW? Which one has the coolest mods?
I always thought that Vivec was bored of larping as a God and was ready to move onto something else. Sotha didn't care either way. And Almalexia's ego couldn't handle being seen as anything but a God so she lost her mind.
I dont care, mommy tells me to kill and I kill okay?
Pure unfiltered Nerevarmind. This is the only way. There isn't anyone Azura loves more than Nerevar.
The Sermons aren't meant to be completely literal.
The motivations of Vivec are ambiguous and not spelled out in the games specifically, but he definitely wanted to fuck with Azura some more at least.
Aren't they? How do you know?
OpenMW
pros
just werks
cons
sometimes updates break things
mwse
pros
none
cons
its a broken outdated piece of shit
I just got to the part of the main quest where Caius leaves and I'm genuinely sad.
any ideas? haven't had any problems with other mods, albeit smaller ones
MWSE has more mods. OpenMW has more stability and really nifty features. OpenMW will likely be the endpoint someday, it's just a matter of when since there are many mods that MWSE has which are great and exclusive to it.
Unless there's a mod on MWSE you want to use, use OpenMW.
tfw he's never mentioned ever again
extremely evil
Not really. Self-centered. Absolutely. Dickish? Sure. But evil? Ehhhh...
They're less evil than other entities the Chimer worshipped before they became the Dunmer and turned to the Tribunal. As for ego, odds are that Azura herself would have likely have been down with their divinity if only they kept licking her cunt and made it all about her instead of themselves.
Use this for your next playthrough
Go for an Orc and play a Buff Caster
Orcs actually make great mages since they have high willpower
Nerevar is the eternally reoccurring winner of the FELL FOR IT AGAIN! Award
Is azura the only nice deadra
There are no nice Daedra
Azura
Nice
I remember really liking the Clockwork City aesthetics. I also like Vivec City more than the Morrowind one because it has less cantons.
She isn't nice. None of them are nice. That's the point. They are essentially demon gods.
IIRC it was meant that his next incarnations could look like anything and he could follow any path, but i neither know the source nor if its really true
Everything Vivec says to you is a half-lie, he speaks in metaphors to hide that he is lying constantly. That is the whole point of his character, he is supposed to represent duality, truth and lies are a part of that. Almost everything in the Sermons has a double meaning or can be interpreted multiple ways. Muatra is a real spear but also symbolizes their genitals. That already tells you that it's not to be taken literally.
Narsis guilds are kinda mid desu
Sanguine and Vile can be nice sometimes. The Daedra are self-serving, not evil. Aedra aren't all nice either. This thread is full of retards.
Sanguine is nice :)
Man I love Morrowind, and god bless the modders for improving and adding onto the game.
I hope it never gets a remake/remaster since it would bifurcate the playerbase and modders, and honestly at this point a modded MW is better than any UE5 remake could ever be.
Pick only like 1, max 2 of the same major and minor skills from the same attribute or your training life will be hell, you'll level up too evenly and you'll have low attributes. Always plan your level ups.
Always choose irrelevant major and minor skills.
The new TR city is mad comfy
He is. There's a short story where he's visiting the emperors grave and clicing an apple with a knife.
Shame it's filled with Hlaajews
Nothing wrong with role playing a hlaajew once in a while
Nerevarine canonically didn't kill Vivec
fuck that, thats never stated anywhere. Vivec is right where he should be in my azura's star
You know soul gems don't actually have the soul of someone right?
I was disappointed he didn't show up in Oblivion he was a member of the Blades after all
you are such a faggot get out of this thread you ESO-nigger
They say Vivec was taken..... by the Daedra...
I'm always interested to hear people's thoughts on the matter:
Is the main character actually Indoril Nerevar in your eyes? Or is he just a random dude who is being propped up to play pretend by Azura just to get the Red Mountain thing done already?
Clavicus is only nice as far as you make sure to read all the sub-clauses and fine print before you agree to whatever he says because he's like an asshole genie who thinks he's funny.
Anon, soul gems containing actual souls is nuES lore... I believe it started in Skyrim.
Basically soul gems were just meant to siphon off energy from a soul when it's killed. Though there are instances where a soul could get theoretically trapped. A TR quest follows this.
You are not Nerevar, you're just a guy that managed to check off some items from a list.
You even use Corpus as a technicality to get one of the items checked off.
He is indoril nerevar. I have fully and completely adopted said identity. I am his reincarnation and the tribunal get their comeuppance. My friend dagoth gets a very heartfelt sendoff and I will always mourn the sixth house. May he receive wealth beyond measure in his next life.
Was Toon Link the real Hero of Wind(TM) or was he in the right place at the right times?
I feel like there would have been a gigantic shitstorm the moment azura changed the chimer, waking up and you're all blue and shit
Nerevarine canonically didn't kill Vivec
The answer is unclear, after you complete Tribunal, Vivec makes a small mention that he could be next.
For all we know, The Nerevarine could've killed him or was taken by the daedra.
He is both the random dude, and Nerevar reborn. The events at Red Mountain were preceded by Azura's prophecy, but without (You), there is no event.
best girl of the TR update
The main character can wear Nerevar's "you die if you're not me" ring and live. Thus, they must be Indoril Nerevar reborn.
Simple as that.
They gave depth to Sotha Sil. Their takes on weapons and armor are also interesting.
tbf doing anything with Sotha would be giving him depth, considering the lack of content of him in Tribunal.
It's a mantling/Schrödinger's cat situation. You aren't until you are. Then you always were.
Have you finished the legion questline?
How do you get dirt on the dealer in Fortuna? The legion agent there just keeps telling me "Not yet" and I'm not sure what she's waiting for
Did you guys find the (BIG SPOILERS) snek yet?
How does that work in regards to Shivering Isles then?
Didn't Trainwiz fix this entirely though? My understanding is that his Clockwork City/Sotha Sil mod work is canon at this point.
People that say it can be either are lying to you. Saying it can be either is saying the Dwemer aren't master craftsmen. The ring only works with Nerevar's soul being present in the body. So yeah it's definitively Nerevar just without his memory.
Nerevar's physical shell but Your consciousness
I like it
Is the main character actually Indoril Nerevar in your eyes?
For me he always was Indoril Nerevar reborn, that's why I always play Dunmer.
During the final confrontation with Dagoth Ur, the moment your main character can pick the dialogue option "By the gods and destiny I am Nerevar reborn" is absolute PATHOS.
The Nerevarine is the epitome of videogame heroes and the reborn hero of Robert E. Howard. A modern Conan.
Less clear I think. The same could apply, but my impression is more that the Oblivion MC gets taken over by the greater entity over time. Always seemed like a terrible end for whoever your character is in that game. I don't know what the consensus is let alone what the official thinking is.
You're manteling Arden Sul, not Sheo
But the PC of Oblivion does become Sheo by the time of Skyrim?
And finally I think this quote from Conan is what Morrowind and The Nerevarine are all about
He shrugged his shoulders. "I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content."
Vivec semi-canonically achieved CHIM and a "poetic" understanding of the universe, despite being a backstabbing little faggot (he "regretted" this but perhaps viewed it as necessary) (he also eventually "beat" Lorkhan's "test" and achieved Amaranth extracanonically)
Sotha Sil managed to "study" the universe and achieved a "scientific" understanding of the Aurbis (if a little too Anuic)
Almalexia just did nothing except post on Instagram for likes and had a woman moment when her account got banned
What did Todd mean by this ?
This is why Morrowind is my favorite game. Personally, I think both options are valid. I mean, the Emperor picks you specifically because you're a random criminal in a random mainland prison who happens to fit a certain ethnicity and birthday. Does the Emperor know about the prophecy in some deeper way than just knowing it exists and what is going on in Morrowind with the Sixth House and shit? Does he have some special insight to know that you, specifically, ARE Nerevar reborn? If so, how? Does he just get lucky picking the right guy?
Or is it more that technically, no one is actually Nerevar, because there's no such thing as being "reborn"? And that you earn the right to call yourself him by doing the things you're supposed to do? How do we know the whole Incarnate thing is even real and not just a show put on by Azura to make it convincing for you so you'll just nut up and do the job? And in the end, what would being the actual Indoril Nerevar rather than just some random guy, actually change? Or vice versa?
Yeah, by mantling Arden Sul who mantled sheo
Haven't finished the questline but I did do that one. If I remember right you just speak to her at the card table, follow her over to the balcony and she should tell you where to find it right away. Try reloading a save. If she's bugged and won't talk to you maybe just try going to get it directly search the alley behind the Hlaalu Council Company warehouse in the market quarter
Arden Sul
The wiki has the different interpretations. So by this one you might be just be mantling the more human aspect of Sheogorath. Still, Sheo's around for Skryim and doesn't appear to have any trace of being anything/anyone else.
Zealot Belief
The Zealots believe that Sheogorath is a living god and that Arden-Sul is the personification of Sheogorath's mortality and that eventually Arden-Sul will return to cleanse the Shivering Isles. What is noteworthy of this claim by the zealots, is that other mortals, namely the mortal form of the Vestige Haskill, and later the Hero of Kvatch mantled the Daedric Prince of Madness, becoming Sheogorath. Given the claims by the Zealots, it is possible Arden-Sul was yet another mortal who took on that mantle.
Shivering Isles was a joke by Sheogorath. Your character became mad and started to believe he is a god. Jyggalaga doesn't exist and has not a single cultist despite 300 years since he got free. And we know that he loves his mortal servants as all his agents are mortals not daedra in SI.
Ego
Ego is not a bad thing and arguably Vivec is the only one that actually managed to "attain" an ego if you read the whole CHIM thing as true. Almalexia in comparison is the complete absence of ego (no that's not a good thing)
the alley behind the Hlaalu Council Company warehouse in the market quarter
Thanks, anon. It is bugged for me (and my last pre-bugged save was a long time before that). She walked towards the balcony and then just stopped and keeps giving me the "Not yet" treatment.
Emperor picks you specifically because you're a random criminal in a random mainland prison
Tiber Septim has a hotline to the nine divine. They tell him about the most important thing going on. You think Martin just invented turning into Akataosh by himself? He was told to do that by the Aedra.
licking Azura's cunt for all eternity
Haha gross that's so terrible ha
No. We know Soul Gems contain souls since Redguard (That's why they were trying to rescue the one that contained A'tor's soul), which came out BEFORE Morrowind, and over a decade before Skyrim.
Vivec knew he was full of shit with his poetry and sermons and tried to find meaning to excuse his bullshit
Almalexia was a schizo and fully believed all the god stuff and thought she was the biggest baddest bitch in existence, even after she was made mortal again
In a practical sense having multiple interpretations being more or less equally plausible is very convenient for continuity purposes in a game like this. To the point I think Bethesda has gotten too used to leaning on it a bit too hard. If one overdoes it it just makes everything lose meaning.
Mehrunes Dagon is the "nicest" Daedra
Azura herself would have likely have been down with their divinity
No. Lorkhan was Azuras beloved brother. She was the one that cried over his corpse and buried it when he dies. To her, using the hearth is literal necromancy on her brother. And one of her core tenants is respect for the dead.
Maybe, but this is the only game of theirs where there is actually ambiguity about who or what the main character is.
Yeah. Lil' nigga just wanted the world to last a little bit longer so that he could leap around
I think it's a clever deconstruction of the old "chosen hero" trope, in the context of a sandbox video game. The player is supposed to be chosen by fate and Azura, yet the whole way through the game EVERYONE talking about the Nerevarine doubt it's real, or doubts you're the one, or doubts it matters even if you are. Even Dagoth Ur who literally addresses you as "Nerevar" will ask you, unsure if you are actually The Guy. This made-up quote appears at the start of the game because it's really the game's theme. The game can set a path before you, but only the player can actually walk down it. The developers can plan all sorts of things, but it's the player who makes their game happen.
One of her core personality traits is also vanity.
Bethesda's prefrence for "every outcome is Canon" I think works for TES games but not for Fallout
The Elder Scrolls universe was literally created by one god deceiving the others and Tiber Septim was able to achieve godhood by also betraying everyone he work with. There’s a reason the constellation The Tower (the universe) is associated with The Thief. Lying and backstabbing is in the very fabric of existence
The TES Universe is just a dream that Todd is having.
The Sharmat was the one who came closest to this truth and was silenced for it.
So what happens if the Dreamer wakes up?
New kalpa
the universe ends
Np, she doesn't really say anything else just a couple lines about how she's after him for stealing jewelry in Old Ebonheart. Hope it works, the rest of the questline so far has been very kino.
Everyone is skeptical because there is at least a dozen people that claimed to be Nerevar and all died when they put the ring on. The ring is the only true test as it was made by Kagrenac and only works for Nerevar.
The Tribunal for turning themselves into false Gods and possibly murdering Nerevar and the Dunmer for turning from the worship of Azura to the Tribunal. Except for The Urshilaku Tribe those guys were cool
They do, actually. Been a thing since before Morrowind. In Redguard, A'tor's soul was trapped in one after his death, then he merged with his sword after a failed attempt to resurrect him.
Oblivion also had a soul gem used to contain a soul. Traven did this to himself.
That's just going back to sleep though
Wait a minute. That bridge...
There’s no Azathoth like creature that’s actually dreaming up the world. It’s all a metaphor for an idea. The Mona Lisa was once a dream too
BOA TARDE AMIGO
Yeah, obviously. But you'll have to wake up before that
It's almost strange how well I recognize various locations from the game. Granted that's a prominent early one that almost every player has seen.
That's the impression I'm getting. From a reddit post regarding Amaranth:
when it comes to the Amaranthine, I think understanding real world mystical philosophy is more beneficial than understanding the games' lore. Kirkbride & Friends did a good job of marrying the former to the latter with CHIM, Amaranth, the 36 Lessons and so on. I view Amaranth similarly to Brahman, Godhead, Ein Sof, Ultimate Reality or whatever else you'd like to call the ground state of being. To realize Amaranth is to identify fully with the origin and all-encompassing totality of reality, to understand that if the world is a dream, no part is separate. If being is dreaming, then anything can be. A lot of people take the "dream" imagery too literally, and mis/understand realizing Amaranth as "waking up" from "the dream" into "the real world" - but Amaranth as a concept relies on an understanding of being being synonymous with dreaming. Amaranth doesn't present us with a dualist "real"/"dream" dichotomy, it says everything is dreaming. The world we know isn't "unreal" because it can be called a dream. This is just a more a poetic way of saying that reality is a creative process. Amaranth is an expansion of that - a part of the overall fabric of dream waking up to itself and joining that creative process consciously and fully rather than unconsciously and under illusory limits. I think this is necessarily more than "immortality" or "enlightenment" or "CHIM," but expansion-of-self, becoming-more, dream-becoming-dreamer. As to the name, I think the Greek etymology is a big reason why. But amaranth flowers also keep their color even after death.)
Oh yeah I forgot about his ring. Is that an in game item?
It's Moon and Star, isn't it?
You haven't played the game?
Yeah, the Legion quests have been great so far.
Azathoth isn't even necessarily dreaming the universe. He's just the primordial source for everything who rules all time and space and the "all reality is his dream" is more shaky.
The only evidence for that in Lovecraft's own work is from Fungi from Yuggoth, and the wording can easily be read differently.
I think it's a clever deconstruction
I wouldn't call it a deconstruction, I think the game really embraces the idea of letting the player decide. Ken Rolston wrote the main campaign, his intentions are to guide the player to choose The Nerevarine destiny, or not. Morrowind is one of the few games where you can fail the main campaign and still complete the game.
Ken was also the lead designer for Oblivion, that's why the game still has some unconventional hero roles. The Hero of Kvatch is one of the main character, he is also the player's character, but the main protagonist of the story of Martin, but being more specific The Septim.
Anu and Padomay reawaken and resume their fight during Dragon Breaks. Boethiah witnessed it at the end of the Middle Dawn, then helped end it by stabbing the Dreamer in the eye.
Indeed, I would argue ambiguity only works if the possible outcomes are equally satisfactory.
I did recently but i started to zone out a bit doing all those tribes and great house fetch quests
chitin wearing spear chuckers defeat a race that could manufacture gundams and rocket launchers
Lorefags explain.
Why would anyone ever actually worship any of the Aedra, I'm serious
They're literally all functionally dead things that can't do a thing and there's nothing to get from their worship even if you didn't care about that part
This is a high fantasy setting full of godlike beings already
I was commenting on the fact that Almalexia attained "physical" "godhood" and proceeded to use it to be no more than an Instagram influencer (and then has an outburst and tries to kill everyone after already murdering Sotha Sil because of the off-chance she won't receive anymore upvotes).
The "betrayal" of Tiber Septim, yes, was necessary on more than a mundane "realpolitik" level and actually a metaphysical requirement (whether you consider Lorkhan the betrayed by the Aedra, also even from the other perspective "trickery" is an inherent element - Shor "tricked" the gods)
It also goes several layers further up, right to the "Godhead" whether you interpret that as "his" "feelings" of betrayal with the whole Anu/Padomay(his shadow potentially i.e. "him")/Nir thing, so that "fractally" permeates down all layers of reality to be played out again and again for the "trauma" to be replayed. Arguably Lorkhan somehow became aware of that and that's why "life" is a "test" and the whole purposely half did CHIM wrong (because he's incapable not actually being a "mortal" despite purposely arguably inventing mortality and becoming the god of it) so that mortals could perceive the universe "properly" (all ultimately being "shards" of the Godhead) and if you take extracanonical stuff the goal is to actually "finally" escape with Amaranth.
They aren't dead just mortal and afraid to show themselves because of that.
That can only happen if there's a new Dreamer. Which was the plan of Miraak.
Dagoth Ur was a Sharmat, a dreamer inside the dream.
Why would anyone ever actually worship any of the Aedra, I'm serious
The Altmer got it right. They know the Aedra are their ancestors, in the worship is more related to ancestor worship.
No, a new kalpa just literally goes straight back to the dawn era and repeats the "dream" with new whacky variations but the same ultimate theme. I think the extracanonical event of the sleeper actually awakening is "Landfall", this is several metaphysical layers above a kalpa ending.
Oblivion has "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!"
Skyrim has "I YIELD! I YIELD!" followed by "NEVER SHOULD HAVE COME HERE!"
What does Morrowind have?
worshipping the Aedra is like loving your grandparents
now consider that both the Chimer and Dwemer of Morrowind were ruled by Nords for a short while
pelt wearing barbarians defeat a race that could manufacture gundams and rocket launchers and a race of chitin wearing spear chuckers
Seen any elves?
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
Theres a tomb with a great ring for mages very near to the starting area. If you go atronach, the alchemist in balmora sells 3 good restore magicka potions that restock every 24 hs.
The dreamer doesn't wake up
Seen any elves?
You n'wah!
S'wit
etc. etc
That's wrong the Nords had no rule over the Dwemer. And they defeated the dunmer with hax voice powers that could rewind time. And even then their best voice was humiliated by Nerevar in combat.
STOOPIT
SEX with Azura
kalpa ends
old kalpa is incorporated into a new kalpa, the dreamer sleeps and dreams again
Plenty of dunmer did apparently, since she had a dunmer son and all.
The eepy Aedra being kinda sorta maybe a little halfway dead-ish and having their old people naptime is the only reason Nirn exists
One of the most important aspects of TES lore that is actually fucking there in every single game past Morrowind is the fucking circle, they never give you a definite answer but it is absolutely possible that you ARE, in fact, him. You also have Azura greasing the said wheels if that's how she wants it to play and the prophetic weirdo seeing you being important before you do anything for a reason
For me it's Daggerfall.. Skeletons screeching out of the dark
EEEEEEUUUUUAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH
and the famous
HALT HALT halthalt HALT HALT halt HALT HALT HALT HALT halt
They aren't dead and they can bless you. Akatosh came to Cyrodil and gave Mehrunes Dagon a beating
Nords are metaphysically incredibly powerful basically by the power of "balls"
This is TESOshit and NOT canon
whats the intended allegory behind including ballsack in this drawing
The Aedra are the world. Venerating the Aedra is like caring for the environment and the place you live, your history, all living things, and the natural laws that govern them. A better question is why the fuck wouldn't you devote yourself to them. They're all that there is, besides literal soul stealing demons.
. A modern Conan.
Makes sense, considering my character is also a giggling retard who robs random fucks for whatever they have even though I probably wont need it
Wow haha weird how big do you think her spear is lol gross
tfw ALMSIVI did but also did not betray and kill Nerevar, on account of there was a Dragonbreak at the time
Fucking STUPID. They should be nothing but traitors
Dagoth is into CBT
Ummm sweaty my super special mary sue princess Daedric prince is canon get over it chud
No it isn't. Alandro Sul is the son of Azura and companion of Nerevar. He's mentioned first in Morrowind.
How does ALMSIVI feel about their personal role in the blackening of their misbegotten race
my super special mary sue princess Daedric prince is canon
As someone who doesn't play ESO could someone provide the context for this?
Morrowind but turn based. Thoughts? Seriously
betray Nerevar
alter history (not like, fabricating history, actually aleter history) to say that you didn't with your new godlike powers, and make yourself an interest origin story while you're at it
There are still some remnants of the old reality there, obviously, but I find it an interesting piece of world building
ALM doesn't like it
SI accepted it
VI doesn't care, but also cares at the same time.
That's just Nerevars shield bearer, though. Niggas ringmail became trinkets to ashniggers they put in they nose an ears
Well isn’t a Dragonbreak the breaking of linear and singular time, in such a way where every means to achieve the resulting outcome had simultaneously occurred? So they really had both done it and not done it right
Spear chuckers had multiple gods cheering for them while the fedora tippers rejected their help
Die! N'Wah!
If Alando Sul really existed as an immortal son of Azura, he'd still be kicking around and he pretty clearly isn't.
IIRC, the only source of him being Azura's son is the stupid Nords' horseshit version of the story where the Dwemer and Chimer were all buddies and the Chimer literally picked up Red Mountain and squished the Nordic army and Shor with it.
Their version of the story also says that Nerevar was Boethiah's son, too, by the way.
The Nords embellish and make shit up more than fucking Vehk.
where the Dwemer and Chimer were all buddies and the Chimer literally picked up Red Mountain and squished the Nordic army and Shor with it.
But the Chimer and Dwemer were friend during the reign of Dumac and Nerevar.
Vivec also makes a reference to the fight between Chimer and Nords.
The wheel in the tower is the game disc
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned him.
The wheel in the tower is the game disc
We're watching you, scum.
Go ahead, make my day.
Die, you n'wah!
If he is the son of Azura he would get thrown into oblivion when he died. And why would he ever want to return when Nerevars soul is in Azuras domain?
The Daedra can’t create anything in the Mundus, they only change what already exists. Her having a “son” is the same as werewolves being “children” of Hircine
ESO used his mode as the basis, he and the lead writer are friends.
Die, you n'wah!
Ordinators have lots of quotes too, like "We're watching you, scum" and "Go ahead, make my day".
the choice, is, yours
cylinder with multiple wheels/"towers"
The Dreamer is the Toddhead
Todders had nothing to do with the world building of TES other than approving PGE before Redguard
They created a new Daedric prince that's actually secretly in charge of everything and super powerful and actually she's the reason any of the "prisoners" exist (not Lorkhan) and she's actually secretly in charge of all the multiverses (not a previously established cosmological concept in the sense they use it here; there are iterations but they're not "concurrent" but I'll allow a "pass" and chalk it up to a metaphysical "nod" to the mmo nature of ESO) and also she looks like a freakin epic angel and smites all the other demons, I mean daedra or something
azura just seems nice since she's lusting for that nerevar cock, just look at what happened to the average chimer citizen if you want to see just how 'nice' she is normally
Vivec literally has TWO FACES.
He wears his duplicity on his skin and it's a core part of him as a person/god. He's always lying, but there's also some truth buried in those lies and he WANTS everyone to know this.
He's not shy about it. The only honest thing he'll tell you is that he's a liar, and even that is partially a lie. 100% consistent in his inconsistency.
actually she's the reason any of the "prisoners" exist
yeah that's bullshit
Todd unironically stopped understanding the lore during the Redguard era.
she's the reason any of the "prisoners" exist (not Lorkhan)
Either that or Azura gives the ring to her strongest simp who has the best chance of toppling the Tribunal. Hmmm..
Their story of the event is either that Dagoth Ur betrayed Nerevar to fight for the Nords and there was no Dwemer/Chimer conflict at Red Mountain or that Dagoth Ur led them into a trap and there was no Dwemer/Chimer conflict at Red Mountain.
Every other version of the story is completely different.
The opposite. She's a magna ge who was inspired by Lorkhan's endeavor.
The worst part is that Ithelia is just a Jyggalag and Meridia rip-off
I'd love for someone to point out to me where in game a godhead is ever mentioned, eso doesn't count
He's pretty deep in the mod, and his presence was kept a secret even during a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and progress updates. I didn't even expect him in the update.
Sload I think took up a lot of the excitement.
Vivec is honestly deceitful
Godd Howard
Lorkhan doesn’t make the prisoners, especially not the Nerevarine
So she's meant to be Mnemo-Li then?
since she's also a Magna Ge connected to the Prisoner
The Kalpa was meant to end in Era 2 (Merethic Era)(i.e. after Daggerfall - game 2 - "allegorically" not literally, I know all the games are actually set in 3E onwards) so it's fitting, even the Toddhead doesn't know what the fuck's going on
Wrong
Different, Memory is now Sotha Sil's daughter sent back and forward in time.
Mythic Dawn Commentaries 3
Woe to the Oath-breakers! Of the skin of gold, the Xarxes Mysteriuum says "Be fooled not by the forlorn that ride astray the roadway, for they lost faith and this losing was caused by the Aedra who would know no other planets." Whereby the words of Lord Dagon instructs us to destroy these faithless. "Eat or bleed dry the gone-forlorn and gain that small will that led them to walk the path of Godhead at the first. Spit out or burn to the side that which made them delay. Know them as the Mnemoli."
The first Black Book of Skyrim Dragonborn, the name of the book is Waking Dreams
Corprus isn't a technicality, it's a divine disease that to the letter fulfills the prophecy that age and disease can't harm you.
saying the Dwemer aren't master craftsmen
If the Dwemer are so so good why did they zero sum?
Our Todd who art in Bethesda
Howard be thy name
Too neckbeardy
That's what they wanted
Tinkering with tech they still didn't test while they were at the edge of annihilation. They made mistakes caused by hastiness.
Drain Int 100 for 1 second fully restores your magicka. 2 jugs of sujamma works too. Also don't fight daedra without being immune or highly resistant to your own death spells
They added Andrei from VtM!?
I knew one was probably in because the race was unlocked by the unlocker mod with a warning that the animations aren't all done yet
The protagonist aren’t Shezarrines, Lorkhan would never reincarnate as an elf
Cast Invisibility
Pick up item
Everyone attacks me
I thought Invisibility was this uber game breaking exploit spell that lets you take shit right in front of NPCs, I can't even enter sneak while invisible in a room full of people.
And yes, I know it deactivates when you interact with something but unless the action of picking up an item is split into activate -> pick up this shouldn't be a factor.
Fallout: the Frontier moment
Nerevarine visits the future (Akavir) and never returned
Huh
Chameleon is the spell you want.
It deactivates before you pick it up, which is why they detect it
I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE I WAS NOT THE ONE
Having the Nerverine do stuff during later games would raise the question of their race and Gender(even though new official Bethesda art has them as a Dunmer) and Bethesda rule for Games is to never contradict the player
Trusting the words of fucking Xarxes
Trusting the words of Vivec
Trusting anyone who associates with Lorkhan
This is where I think so many lorefaggots fuck up, these people are fucking insane lying capricious nutcases. I guarantee 90% of what is written in Vivec's bible is bullshit
Go, white boy, go!
I found him by accident and then just got the free FG quest completion because I was holding his sword
Literally no one is a Shezarrine. Shezarrine is mentioned like once in the lore and the fanbase went nuts making shit up.
Okay so if we're quoting mankar then the godhead is a bullshit concept that doesn't exist and was put into his head by mehrunes
Creating a Damage Strength 100 points paralyses people forever. Personally I'd go for the Atronach build which is a lot more viable in Morrowind than Oblvion. You just need to mark and recall everywhere and just Divine Intervention whenever you get low on magicka If you combine that with Altmer and a robe and a ring you get in Bloodmoon (I can't remember what they're called) you can get just stupid magicka
How's the Morrowind expansion for ESO? I got ESO back when it first released and hated it. I have a friend who stuck with it on and off and offered to buy me Morrowind if I play with him.
daedric tower shield
enchant it for reflect or spell absorb
get maybe 7%
epic
The good expansions are Orsinium and Clockwork City. Plus the guilds, I guess.
LAMO@enchantlet
Bi Azura
Bi Azura
Bi Azura!
Azura
even though new official Bethesda art has them as a Dunmer
Most of the stuff in TES is unreliable on purpose anyways, this isn't too upsetting.
Of course the vain and proud Dunmer are going to depict their grand champion as one of them, imagine the hit to the ego if the rest of Tamriel realizes the person that saved the nation (temporarily) was a Redguard or Orc while they circlejerked around their false Tribunal dictatorship. The Nerevarine is spiritually Dunmer anyways. If you subscribe to the prophecy being real that is.
That's like every lore thing people like to talk about:
Chim
Godhead
Zero-Sum
Mantling
They're barely mentioned at all in game and it's mainly out of game musing
I hope she at least got the Urshilaku tribe out-those were real niggers
What are some non-ES characters that could achieve CHIM?
this
lore discussion was poisoned by kuckbride's noncanon schizo rp
It's comfy
But I doubt you'd like it if you hated the base game. It's the best zone, but that doesn't mean much
people always bring up mantling, but they always forget about Anticipations
play Morrowind
read a bunch of the wiki
take a THC gummy
fall asleep
repeatedly dream up strange abstractions of Morrowind in its different states, with me mentally fulfilling the role of different characters and shifting between ‘I must save Morrowind’ to ‘Morrowind is mine’ to ‘I have saved and healed Morrowind and Azura smiles upon me’
Is this what it’s like to be Dagoth Ur
Shezzarine isn't even mentioned by Kirkbride's forum shit as far as I'm aware. It's a thing some random guy called Pelinal before dying. That's it.
Nothing about Lorkhan. Nothing about mantling. Nothing confirming Pelinal even was the Shezzarine. It's literally nothing.
The entire shivering isles was about mantling sheo, he even tells you as much
Is this Foul Murder?
lol
lmao even
All of those things represent you being a player who knows he’s in a video game basically being the top soul of an enlightened in-game being who is able to break the world like the matrix with his knowledge. It’s probably the only thing that’s constantly and always happening in the game
there's some nigger in TES threads recently who has been attributing all spiritual/'meta' lore (and anything he personally dislikes) as Kirkblade's creations.
WAHOOOOOOOOOOO
CHEESE RAIN OF CHEESE ME BOYYYYY
MURDER MURDER CHEESE AND FEASTING OHOHOHOHOHOHO
*holds up teh f0rk 0f D00M!!!*
SHEOGORATH OUT
You haven't played the game
I remember I once had a dream I was having sex with Mephala and she looked like the pornstar Mya Diamond
I actually say this after waking up a lot of the time
But it's clear these are not-in-universe depictions of these characters In Bethesda's view, the "canon" version of the Nerverine is a Male. Dunmer
Based Crazy Uncle Sheo
Hate was a little dramatic, I actually loved the PvP but I got wrapped up in all the negativity and the fact that it was an MMO so I wrote it off.
What is Miraak doing on Vvardenfell?
Is this not just random depictions of the races?
Altmer looking hag
I liked it a good bit, i reinstalled ESO actually and am going to play the fuck out of it again
Damn, that's incredibly gay. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I love gamer girl Azura
According to Kirkbride, it actually wasn’t

We make a special trip just for you, same low price.
you are expected to pump your enchant skill to 1200 with the dlc skill enchants. You can't get too crazy in the base game other than pumping your int I think.
Beating up Fargoth, by the looks of it
bitch lookin like she about to ask me for some shadow banish wine
Very fitting once you realize the Nerevarine prophecy and how it plays out is literally just Dune.
No, that piece was all the Prisoners from all TES games
pic is one exclusively for Morrowind
Cyrus was trans?
Anyone who cares, what is your opinion on sub classing in ESO? I personally don't like it
These are just the dudes on the cover of the box. They just hired some random faggot to draw characters from a series he knows nothing about
the "canon" version of the Nerverine is a Male. Argonian
ftfy
i would guess it's his Sister, same reason Martin is in that image as the Dragon
Who are the Breton, Redguard, and Bosmer ladies supposed to be then?
And is the lizard a dude or a chick?
I assume the beasts are for the two cancelled games?
what makes you think they weren't successful?
Breton girl is probably the Daggerfall protag. One of them might be the Battlespire protag.
I think the Breton is meant to be Daggerfall's protagonist, Redguard Women is probably meant to be Iszara, I've got no idea about the Bosmer women, ESO maybe
Is that mech supposed to be Akulakhan or something? I have no idea what it's supposed to be depicting.
The whole fucking Nirn (and probably Mundus, and Aurbis) is basically a "lesson" by Lorkhan, who managed to realise the nature of existence but couldn't really "experience" it himself. All the player characters are some incarnation of this.
Same guy who wanted orcs to be teat samurai and from dimension X? Guy whi uses old words and the wrong meaning for them? The guy who wants to be a contrarian so bad he says dwemer is pronounced DWEEMER and Chim is KIM?Too bad. CoC is Sheogorath. Didn't read it in the design docs? Probably because it's so obvious it didn't need mentioning. Do docs need to list the player doing everything for it to be the player as well? If you complete SI and talk to the Sheo statue it flat out says you're talking to yourself and Haskill tells you what the original Sheo wanted. The game starts with you being the prophecized hero, there are no other heroes.
Vestige would absolutely destroy the other protagonists, even the Dragonborn
i don't think so, doesn't really look like Akulakhan or the Numidean, it's probably some generic Dwemer Centurian
Is black marsh brazil?
Tbf Azura calls them Dweemer in Morrowind
hand over your lunch money, dweemb
Which one is The Hero of Kvatch(arrested for knife raping his wife before being freed by the emperor)
the Maya
TESO is less canon than ratopomboverse anyway.
mehrunes
That guy was The Leaper Demon, he knows what he is talking about
Even MK would say Azura isn't an accurate source of anything.
Does the nerevarine actually have CHIM or was vivec just making excuses? If so, why didn't the nerevarine save morrowind from kirkbrides wrath?
Black Marsh is Guatemala
Black Marsh is Apocalypse Now
The middle one in legion armour, I think
Here's what they look like during the escape, according to to Bethesda artist
He went to Akavir instead to get some Ka Po' Tussy
*holds up teh f0rk 0f D00M!!!*
sensible chuckle
the guy with the Kvatch symbol on his shield and armor
Why the fuck is Almalexia Bosmer white instead of Aldmer gold? It took me a minute to figure out that that's who that bitch is supposed to be.
Black Marsh is Hawaii , but the part of Hawaii people don't actually visit
it's a reference to the player being able to reload a save or mod the game, ie having significant power over the universe
Why is this lizard finnish looking
I know but does that extend to the character as well?
zero sum?
my headcanon is they pulled off something ridiculous like containing the entire TES universe into a fucking marble, Men in Black style, so everyone thinks the Dwemer vanished but they're all still there on the real Red Mountain laughing their assess off at the tiny marble clone uninverse they created.
My guess is
Dunmer guy is the Nerevarine
Hero of Kvatch in the middle, with the shield
Dragonborn is obvious
Cyrus' sister is the Redguard
Breton girl in the back is the Daggerfall protag
Guy in front with the staff is the Arena protag
Bosmer is the Vestige
Orc is the Battlespire protag
No idea about two beastmen
Autism
It's just up to you. MK has been all over the place with what CHIM is and can't decide if he wants to have it be videogame powers and be the cool guy who points at visual bugs and says "Heh, we totally planned that glitchy water. It's chim baby." Or if he wants to keep it as some hyper religious state of being with narrative weight. Interpret how you please. At this rate it's a question if Vivec even had it at all.
eh I like it
Eye of Argonia and Paradise Sugar (both cancelled Adventures games)
No, that's Bravil.
I'm not kidding, pre-retcon and pre-CHIM of Tiber Septim, Cyrodiil was Latin America (being more specific Romans mixed with pre-hispanic america). The Imperial City was tenochtitlan.
the CoC canonically went through the sewer sequence bound
confirmed stronger than dragonborn
Orcs coulden't be the PCs in Battlespire
Looking at UESP guess it's
the Hero of Kvatch, The Nerevarine (wielding Trueflame), Dovahkiin, Iszara (wielding the soul sword), The Grey Prince, The Dark Brotherhood's Ocheeva, a Khajiit thief, an Altmer with a destruction staff, clad in glass armor, a Mages Guild Breton & Bosmer sneak archer leading a charge in front of a flaming Akatosh flying in the background.
so even UESP couldn't figure it out Also some of the choices are really weird, like why is the Grey Prince in the image
Whilst the Shezzarine is only explicitly mentioned once by name in official material, the concept is alluded to in a few other sources. The Monomyth variations all mention that Lorkhan is still around in some way even after being defeated or dying, some even explicitly state he was doomed "to wander creation" for all eternity. Likewise, Mannimarco in the Where Were you When the Dragon Broke book talks about Pelinal, Wulfharth and Arnand the Fox (Zurin Arctus) as if they were rhe same person, those characters being the ones often considered Shezzarines.
the in game depiction
You are your character, so yes
Not that anon, but yes. CHIM is first and foremost an in-game lore concept. It is kind of a cheeky reference to game mechanics like reloading, but it is much more than that within the lore.
Does the nerevarine actually have CHIM or was vivec just making excuses?
The Nerevarine has CHIM, Vivec only has an intellectual understanding of CHIM, but not real CHIM.
Remember, having CHIM does not make you invencible, it only makes you aware of more secrets of the world. Mankar Camoran had CHIM and was murdered by a psycho called The Hero of Kvatch.
Why cut off his feet?
Shut up, Sotha Sil. Your dwarf friends are gone because they committed complete racial sudoku by being retards who thought they were smarter than they were.
The Grey Prince, The Dark Brotherhood's Ocheeva
two semi-random oblivion npcs
when lucien isn't on there and he's been in two games
yeah i'm not buying that one
I thought they were supposed to be depictions of the various protagonists? Assuming UESP is right that's an arbitrary list of people.
What's our response?
Prophetic nonsense.
This is the best look of Sotha Sil. I don't accept his look from ESO and Legends.
In Bethesda's view, the "canon" version of the Nerverine is a Male. Argonian
Ftfy
Zenimax exclusively hires artists who don't know anything about TES for some reason, like half of every Altmer in Legends art also has normal white people skin instead of being yellow
for me it's
At this point the Hero of Kvatch is a fucking nightmare engine. Solos oblivion gates, Sheogorath takes a long time to take over his mind and still can't erase him after 200 years. No powers or corpus or anything.
Your dwarf friends are gone because they committed complete racial sudoku by being retards who thought they were smarter than they were.
Wrooooong
being completely honest here
I never much cared for his morrowind look, looks like a nonsensical noodle monster
In-universe, CHIM actually can't do shit (sort of) and is more like a state of perception "seeing the wheel" and all that shit, aside from the "ebin haha creation kit and mods shieeet" cheeky OOU nod thing going on. It's not quite but basically the equivalent of Buddhist "enlightenment" or something akin to that (though perhaps more like the "same" but diametrically opposite as the whole point is retaining a strong ego)
Humans have 32 teeth so it can't be that, but it's the only answer that makes sense considering the information we get
Apparently it's part of a ritual to allow him to be reborn and roam the world as anything. The Tribunal, except maybe Almalexia, felt bad for killing but still wanted the power so the ritual was a consolation prize.
He was basically just living the AdMech dream until his friend's widow got mindbroken by losing her status and killed him
No powers
You are systematically given more and more powers over the shiverring isles by Sheo in the DLC
Hell yeah
Seht was like a corrupted version of the dwemer and Kagrenac.
Doesn't apply to reality/Nirn
The more I get into this franchise the more it seems Morrowind was its peak and Oblivion and Skyrim were pretty big downgrades. What the hell happened?
No powers to do the main quest or oblivion gates. And any powers granted in the dlc are powers clearly earned from already being a powerhouse. Still nothing remotely close to immortality or dragon words.
Yeah there's arguments that Vivec is just bullshitting (and/or hoping "someone" greater can take the lesson) and knows of CHIM the same way I know of enlightenment or gnosis or any of that but I'm still a dork in a shitty 3x3m bedroom and I don't "know" either of those concepts in the deeper "metaphysical" "experiential" sense
t. youtuber
I like how the recorded a bunch of different voicelines for the shrine of Sheogorath after Shivering Isles released depending on how far you are into the questline.
Haskill asking if you should be praying to yourself, but then commenting on how it tracks for a mad god to do it always makes me laugh
No powers
Not quite. Besides being a hero of destiny, the game implies The Hero of Kvatch was branded by Sithis, during the main campaign he obtains power any way he can, and was even capable of completing the journey to mantle Pelinal.
it's getting really silly desu, the other day i saw a guy blaming kirkbride for the beast races having digitigrade feet and not being capable of equipping shoes in morrowind and he talked about it as if it was a sacrilege towards holy daggerfall lore and done as a leftist slavery allegory or something
MWSE
the original game mods more or less. Script Extenders has been a staple with modding Elder Scrolls games. There are countless mods good & great that rely on them. Been like that for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. So you actually can play with the mods, essentially. Always seen these games without script extenders as a knee-capped experience if you like modding.
OpenMW
Rebuilt. Buttery smooth performance, with the improved/modern hardware support. Good mods are still trickling in, and things like LUA scripting helps, but it still can't work with the old MWSE type scripting.
I'll be real with you, don't listen to people shitting on either versions, especially people shitting on MWSE lmao. Reality is that OpenMW is outstanding for preservation and posterity, once when x86 and older PC hardware in general starts disappearing from the consumer base in a couple decades. The revisionists trying to say MWSE is a buggy pos with nothing to offer is simply childish gamer tribalism bs. MWSE literally the vanilla modded experience. What's next, we're going to see fans rebuild these other games and we start shitting on SKSE or OBSE versions of the games? lol no thanks, just fucking play the game with mods you want to play with. That's my stance.
You'll simply find the better mods on MWSE, and that's not to shit on OpenMW. It's the same with Oblivion and Skyrim, you'll find the better mods which require their script extender.
That's the eye of Magnus
JUSTICE!
Thy name is CHIM!
Most of Sotha Sil's stuff in Tribunal feels like an afterthought, even the fabricant designs are just lifted from an MMO
The overly creative people at Bethesda left, leaving Todd to make successful but. the. rest of the franchise
As the Septim-then-Mede empire degrades and disintegrates - so do the games, it's thematic
Tribunal was built in like 3 months, so don't think too much about it.
tbf Tribunal is half finished and had a very short development time frame
Todders watched LotR
But in all seriousness, Bethesda was om the brink of bankruptcy after Redguard, and Morrowind was their Hail Mary. Most of the fluff was already established by the Pocket Guide to the Empire that came with Redguard, and both games were worked on at the same time. Then it became popular enough to warrant Oblivion, and they changed the concept to something that was more easily digedted by the masses. And that's the road they took.
The creative minds behind Elder Scrolls left the company one by one. Take for example Douglas Goodall, he only worked in Morrowind and wrote A LOT about Khajit and stuff for Tribunal.
Huh, I guess he rounds down. Or has forgotten how many teeth we have after a thousand years.
This. And even then they haven't produced anything of value. MK's output in the industry has been worthless. People will tell you how FUCKING INSANE the minecraft story game gets but it's mediocre dull shit. And then MK had full power to make that wizard fps game crazy and it was just dull. Other vets of Bethesda just retire and write shit or struggle to make open world projects. The idea things would be better with them back is obsolete. It's clear everyone poured everything into Morrowind and permanently burnt themselves out.
If you follow Ralof into Helgen Keep during the beginning of Skyrimjob, he unknowingly completes an aurbic ritual through the unbinding of your hands (untying the Prisoner from fate) inside of a Tower--symbolic of the wheel/cylinder within which all of 'reality' occurs--where a chandelier casts the shadow of an eight-spoked wheel upon the floor of the same ritual chamber containing a deer head casting dragon-like wing shadows, between the bear emblem of the Stormcloaks and the Imperial sigil.
did he write the book about the queen fucking a cat
No, that was Marilyn Wasserman
Douglas Goodall is a hack who was very open in an interview about how didn't even like Morrowind only to come crawling back making mods
didn't the Godhead get cucked or something and that's why he went to sleep
Had to be a woman.
I don't mind both versions. He's a wizard-god, so why can't he change his appearance?
Seht was like a corrupted version of the dwemer and Kagrenac.
That's Dagoth Ur though
lives in a Dwemer stronghold
adorns his followers dwemer metal and dwemer style beards
builds his own Numidium
Sotha Sil might have been inspired by Dwarven technology but Voryn was their biggest imitator
I saw a post by Kirkblade lamenting how Kurt Kuhlmann should have 'been asked to stay' but considering this was after the Microsoft acquisition, I figure he was let go by corporate. Shouldn't ol MK be a bit less naive?
That explains a lot, really.
They even built an "allegorical" "religious" explanation for magic getting gimped in every game - "magicka" slowly starts to disappear from the world (less shit you can do) and then rapidly increases with more "bizarre" forms like dragon shouts before the whole thing blows up and we get an inevitable universe reboot
Wasn't someone from the original dev team trying to make a Morrowind-like game in the recent years?
Pete Hines hated rpgs.
It's a reference to the Hobbit where Gollum asks the same riddle
YOU WILL SUFFER GREATLY
In-universe the universe was even meant to be eaten in the very late merethic era, but this is the "favourite" kalpa
Trainwiz's space game is what you're thinking of I think?
Todders watched LotR
Oh, I read about that here, it made me a bit sad to read how cool Cyrodiil could've been. Oblivion is my least favorite out of the three.
Daggerfall
store.steampowered.com
their fucking official webpage is down
lmao
He wasn't a hack. I do admire he accepted he was really stubborn and liked to do things his way. That's why he clashed with Rolston, but especially with the son of a bitch of Todd Howard.
He also said Todd appealed to the lowest common denominator, instead of real players, which I strongly agree.
I love STOOPIT
It's so fucking funny
Now that would be a headfuck. If the dwemer made their marble contained universe and nobody inside it was aware but it also simultaneously put the version of the universe the dwemer were in into the eye of magnus (unbeknownst to the dwemer) so there's a really fucked up recursion going on.
Jesus christ you guys are fucking dumb
lol
trainwiz was not part of the original morrowind dev team. trainwiz was/is an anon who eventually made a mod apparently allowed as bethesda canon
MK is very naive. He couldn't get his moon mod project going and started saying it was a money issue and modders need to be paid to get shit done. This was ignoring the fact he had Trainwiz on the team, a guy who could get massive mod projects done.
Then the retarded shit of him saying TES isn't worth it without Kuhlmann. But Kuhlmann was on every major project everyone said was shit and breaking the lore. So which is it? Even Kuhlmann was half assing shit. He flat out said that without MK he couldn't save Skyrim from the toilet. Kuhlmann's departure was overdue for a long time.
Oh right, it was a Daggerfall like
At least there was an update recently, so they're still doing something.
THIS WILL BE THE END OF YOU, S'WIT
shuffles awkwardly towards you as the combat music ramps
I always took it that the ESO version of him gradually changes to his Morrowind version as he cyborgs himself more and more
The best thing about this is that it was probably unintentional.
Do elaborate.
Anu (despite being a "fitting" name based on a real similar "Middle-Eastern" concept) and Padomay are even a convoluted Star Wars nod (Todd apparently loves Star Wars)
the web page is down
Again? Jesus fucking christ. The history of that project has been a tragedy. It's clear they needed leadership from Todd desperately. The moment they all left Bethesda its been nothingness for them.
Shame he made a sci fi game that was worse than even the sequel trilogy
The redditor of Ashley Cheng too. He even complains about the people that said Bethesda peaked with Morrowind, only to never make a game like Morrowind ever again. Which is correct.
FUCK HINES AND CHENG
Hines was just a marketing shill, he didn't make anything
Todd apparently loves Star Wars
That really does not surprise me, considering his age
I'm not sure that necessarily has any direct link to the Dwemer but the Eye of Magnus is theorised to contain the Aurbis. There's a bunch of fractal recursive shit if you look closely like Anu being the dreamer, Anu and Padomay being "shifted outside time", Anu and Padomay being "real" "characters" "outside the dream", and simultaneously being the Anu and Padomay the primordial forces of 1 and 0 within the dream
IIRC tatterdemalions real failure was that trainwiz was the only technical guy on it
Wow Todd loves LOTR and SW? Sounds like every normalfag ever. Makes sense considering he never touched a single sci-fi novel then made Starfield.
NTA but it baffled me Hines was trying to answer lore questions on Twitter. He had a meltdown with Fallout 4 over the ghoul in a fridge quest. Said the game with big green mutants didn't need to make sense. After that he stopped answering questions.
AlmaSEXia
Yeah he was in charge of bloodmoon and it really shows that someone with little idea of how to make a good rpg area was in charge.
He had power inside the company (he also screwed Human Head studios). The interviews of Bruce Nesmith reveal a lot of the inside work of Bethesda.
One of the reasons we get less options with each game is because Todd hates menus, same with the HUD, if you are not actively using something from your HUD, it should be gone, just compare the original Oblivion HUD, to the new one from the remastered, it's disgusting.
it's fucking over
where does one read eye of magnus theorization? uesp comments? is that where the deep autism is?
He's literally the reason why fallout 4 has that stupid dialogue wheel and not actual options like even 3 had.
Ravenrock's got more player agency than any questline I know of, doe
I don't know everyone who was onboarded but wouldn't be surprised. The project sounded like it was conjured by dreamers and had no manageable scope. MK had trouble even getting c0da done so he has a serious problem recruiting artists, modders, anything. And that's a guy that had an online cult at one point sucking his dick every second he breathed.
Speaking of TES and Star Wars, MK and Kurt Kuhlmann wrote an entire script for a Star Wars series for some reason and some of the stuff from it made it into mainline TES, like Titus Mede.

What does Azura's Moon (pusy) and (chocolate) Star(anus) taste like haha
The Eye of Magnus is a mining droid sent from the futures, as we all know and have known for 15 years
This. Hines complained about the story in a RPG and reading.
Imagine that, that retarded, super mutie looking motherfucker, was complaing about the most crucial aspect of a RPG.
Hines is a genuine manchild
Bloodmoon's design was a reaction to the negative reception of Tribunal.
They pivoted hard into basically a full action game with an open world area to explore and less focus on story
All there is is that you either pick the guy who works at raven rock or the evil empire trading company guy. And I guess you get to pick a building to be build and where you want your house. I mean I liked those quests as well but lets be honest here.
Kinmune and the Eye are different things. kinmune left Saarthal in the original text well before the eye was there.
I'm not sure how "true" it is, and I honestly can't remember the exacts of it but it's briefly glossed over in Skyrim as being potentially the reason why fucking with it will destroy existence
That's 1000x more agency than 99.9% of quests in Morrowind tbf
I don't know why, but I love the new Ordinator lines:
YOU MAY WALK THE VELOTHS PATH BUT YOUR STEPS ARE FALSE!
did the Nerevarine get any during the Tribunal DLC
Maybe Bethesda should have finished Tribunal before shipping it then
install MGE XE
audio barks of NPCs get distorted heavily depending on my angle (either becoming super bassy or very high pitched)
Strange
Reminds me of the Eurofag that claimed that Dunmer slave plantations with khajits and argonians were injections of American politics in the game because America apparently invented slaves and having them grow cash crops for you was a uniquely American thing I guess.
Yeah, that's more agency than any other questline I know of. You could argue the Hlaalu Caldera missions are on the same level, but the outcome is negligible when all is said and done.
I made it up
Turn off hardware accelerated sound in the actual options menu.
canon Nerevarine is a Bosmer slut who sucked and fucked (and murdered) her way up the Telvanni ladder
I meant more like how the whole island littered with trash mobs for no reason, there's health potions in every chest and on every dead body, the barrows are tiny, and the dungeons are unengaging. I liked the quests for the most part but everything in between is mediocre imo.
How interesting. A TOURIST.
wealth beyond measure, anon.
Two options is still not amazing. Lets not start saying cheng was a good designer because he let you pick A or B.
The goddess of prophecy can't forsee shit
makes shit up as she goes along
tries to force her made up prophecies whenever she's able to
the PC of Morrowind was like her 100th attempt
is she the weakest daedra? She just comes off as pathetic
He also impaled him so he could return as either gender.
I thought that was a euphemism for cutting off his dong
your c0da
<Numidium's voice> NO!
isn't Sheo technically the strongest Daedra but his insanity and flighty personality stop him from committing to anything long enough to be a threat
playing the first time, what's the most fun class?
Spellblade
Yes
no
maybe
youre thinking of jyggalag who was cut from his personality and caused the remnant madness or absence or whatever to become sheo - someone can explain this better than me
jyggalag shows up at the end because he always LAGS behind HAHA GET IT????????
IIRC Namira is the strongest
Why did they give a corpse robo legs?
I don't know.
Breton
Atronach
Mace of Molag Bal
Something something Ithelia
The whole point of her prophecy was that SOMEONE would eventually fuck the Tribunal in the ass in a way not even Vivec could enjoy. If Azura wanted to break the Tribunal then and there she could, but that's not how Daedric Princes do things.
dwemer is pronounced DWEEMER and Chim is KIM
Uhh, how are they pronounced then?
Can you repeat the question?
so what would be the pro-almsivi excuse for his bonewalker having robo-legs anyway?
Jyggalag was, modern She' is probably the most dangerous by virtue of having no fetters to use his reality-warping abilities, but I be Jyggalag could stop him if he ever went too far making a mess of Mundus.
Mananaut mod
Some fantasy Mysterio is now outside of Tel Fyr trying to give an interdimensional parking ticket to the last living dwarf
This is the kind of lore silliness I like.
Dagoth cut his legs off so Sotha Sil built replacements so he would not suffer the indignity of crawling around
the PC of Morrowind was like her 100th attempt
To be fair we have no way of knowing if even a single one of the other Nerevarine guys were puffed up by Azura other than the player one, for all we know they could all be schizos or massive grifters trying to earn the name or legit believing they are Nerevar reborn because they love his ideals so much or something, or maybe they also think nerevar is just like me fr because Almalexia betrayed him and cucked him
Now I know someone will get mad at me for saying ESO but the Morrowind part of that game actually handles this, one of the guys is clearly a faker and even Azura says wow you smell, fuck off to him
What happens to Jyggalag at the end of Shivering Isles
Modern Juggalo doesn't exist, he was subsumed back into the mad god after SI
Were any design docs written or anything like that? Would love to see them.
Dweh-murr and Chim. Sounds way better than the googoogaga way MK wants you to say it. He also listed other words that were all basically a shitty attempt at a gotcha. Can you imagine saying dweemeri artifacts?
Now I know someone will get mad at me for saying ESO but the Morrowind part of that game actually handles this, one of the guys is clearly a faker and even Azura says wow you smell, fuck off to him
They even used the name of one of the failed incarnates in the cavern for him
You're not the boss of me now
The Eternal Champion/Ocato
The apprentice/Neloth
Indoril Nerevar/The Nerevarine
Sithis/ The Hero of Kvatch
Shor/The Last Dragonborn
he goes on holiday for inditermitant amount of time and then makes his own realm and sort out his spheare of influence by beating the shit out of peryite
Mananaut
We need more of them. Reminder they were the rivals of the sun birds of alinor.
I thought he just fucked off into Oblivion to try and bring order to it off-screen because it was a higher-priority target.
That's the best part of ESO. Just take the parts you like and the rest can fuck off.
There's concept arts and a website that used to be up, I think some details were shared like the moon cum vaults and sload rail barons, plus the main cities being a crashed mothship and nords that tried to go to sovngarde but missed.
even Divayth's daughters feel bad for him. also I'm pretty sure Yagrums "conveyance repairs" was a subtle pun on his model not having walking animations
look up mananaut on the wiki
eso
eso
eso
eso
Feature creep. Every voice needs a voice actor which means you can't do text dumps anymore. All the citizens need schedules etc. Too much shit instead of focusing on the basics.
Jyggalag conceded the SI to Sheo and went to roam Oblivion. It's believed by his worshippers he will come back.
It's sad that ESO is the only game in the franchise willing to engage with the interesting parts of the lore even if it misses more often than it hits
You're not the boss of me now
And you're not so big
That sounds really gay
Go to the imperial library and read dev texts and out of game stuff. Uesp is great but they have to limit what they present to people for charity's sake.
imperial-library.info
people shit-talk it here and act like it destroyed the lore, but it's the only part of the franchise that actually expands on anything about 95% of TES lore beyond it existing as a word mentioned in a random book no one actually reads
anyone else keep getting "connection error" even though your post still goes through
It's a shame. But hey at least we have lore accurate Alessia and Morihaus now
threadly reminder that ESO is not canon
I fuck your mom.
Canon isn't real. If I don't like something I just ignore it and there's nothing Bethesda can do
Yeah ESO is garbage, but Mananatus are part of the OG lore.
NPCs aggressively sniffing the player
This is the right attitude. You can't trust the 300 rotating writers any franchise has to stay consistent. Even stories handled by a single person are eligible to change as the person does. Take what you like and fuck everything else.
yupee nub nub
This causes the thread schizo to shit his pants
Kirkbride...
western sophism
Western, like Summerset?
we have Pomni at home
To be fair TES literally has retconning written into its cosmology and uses it as its disclaimer for anything cringe TESO does so this is a Todd-approved opinion
UESP focuses purely on in-game sources and official developer interviews.
Imperial Library is where Kuckbride's fanfiction is collected and displayed as a warning against substance abuse.
House politics + what's actually unfolding in front of you > battle of red mountain + some Dwemer & Chimmer lore >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> deciphering schizo pseudo-religious texts + Daedra lore
I think I might be the Morrowind fan who's like this. For me I just want to enjoy it like a fantasy version of Dune.
moon cum vaults
???????????????
deciphering schizo pseudo-religious texts
This is Dune, thoughever
Vaults full of cum on the moon.
???????????????
What??????
It's pretty cut and dry, I don't know what you are confused about.
What are some cool combat overhauls that retain the RNG aspect of luck, agility, and armor? I saw an anon shilling a "mercy" mod that had cool aspects aside for the fact enemies might beg for mercy when you're close to killing them which was a deal breaker for me. I just want AI to be smarter and to maybe add parries and stuff, IDK. Must be OpenMW compatible too.
But why
Who did this
Some sort of noahs arc or something?
Reman
nothing in this art style is tes3 canon. lol
Why do the different attack types even exist when they're all dicerolls and there's literally only one correct option per weapon type?
Nah, Dune is pretty Anon Babbleatheist mostly and will just outright tell you all the religious BS in the series is a means of political control. There's no holy religious texts where Paul chops his own dick off and rapes people, but metaphorically speaking. And there's no magical demons that you have to dig through esoteric, contradictory lore to learn about.
There's no holy religious texts where Paul chops his own dick off and rapes people
to be fair Brian Herbert would write that if it made him money
Trainwiz explained it
More immersive to have to use your weapon the right way I suppose. I kind of find the system fun if not a bit clunky. Like when you're kiting an enemy with a weapon that requires a neutral swing and you have to make sure you stay neutral before you start up a weapon swing.
Why do you niggas love this Thomas the Tank Engine modder so much?
Because he makes a bunch of content and quest mods outside Thomas shit and posts here
He was part of the project with the moon cum vaults.
I guess, I just wish there was some reason for me to consider using different types of swings
Like if horizontal swings were better against enemies with shields or something
I think it's just a holdover from Daggerfall.
He makes good mods
He knows the deepest and craziest lore and bases the mods on it
He posts here a lot and is both helpful and fun to talk to.
Morrowind has Trainwiz
Oblivion has nickies
Skyrim has no one
Starfield
He's humble, which is rare for a talented modder
Is Nickies the guy who ordered the pizza in Oblivion? For some reason I thought that was Trainwiz
He sure as hell isn't but it's fine, he's helpful in these threads.
Yeah, that's him.
Nickies is the pizza guy. I haven't seen him since the remaster dropped.
Ayo dis n'wah finna to gonna Amaranth
tried to reach sovngarde and missed
What the fuck? In bloodmoon sovngarde is just valhalla. Did kirkbride recon it to an actual place or was it full of ghosts on the moon?
Did you not play Skyrim
Planes and planets are the same thing on TES of I remember it correctly. Valhalla was aslo a physical place you could reach from Midgard
The final level in Skyrim's main quest was Sovngarde.
He did a stream a few days after the release, but it was just general Oblivion playing and nothing insane.
