Attacks you literally nonstop

attacks you literally nonstop

zero openings

Nothing personnel, kid

teleports behind you

That's cute. But I parried in the DIAGONAL plane. Welcome to NG+, scrub.

zero openings

You have plenty of opportunities to attack her, play the game before complaining like a bitch

She's a woman, anon, she has at least 3 openings for you to use. More if you get creative.

You have plenty of opportunities to attack her

distracting her with summons doesn't count, shitter

Parrymind

Anon, not everyone can constantly parry a boss as fast as Rellana

Rellana is everything wrong with new Souls games put together into one encounter.

Relentlessly fast? Check.
Combos that you don't know when they end?Check.
Dancing behind your shield to punish you for blocking? Check.
Skillcheck duel boss out of hundreds? Check.
Checkpoint right in front of said boss, forgoing any attempt at actual level design? Check.

Post your gameplay defeating her without using parry

At least this boss was fun.

Nigga just jump

They give you npc summons to tank him for a reason. You gimping yourself by not using them is not the devs fault.

geez I forgot that she has so much HP. I could pull off a few parries if I tried hard, but the consistency to do so throughout the whole fight is way beyond my gamer ability

Golden parry

Overleveled as shit

kekd

ahahahaha why didn't you just jump

knocking her down and making her cum with the force of your riposte

making her forget all about SHITssmer

summoning her as a phantom in his boss room

acquiring her as spirit ashes afterwards

I wish...

Bring back Slow Souls. I want it back, desperately.Npc summons get worse and worse. They make the Consort nigh unbeatable. A chaotic mess guaranteed to get you killed.

Golden Parry got nerfed with the DLC. It only has 5 frames now, it's kinda shit but better than regular medium shield parries.
Also both those clips look like Scadu 4 or so which is what Rellana is scaled for.

I want a harem of all the black haired blue eyed qt Carian women bros.

people complained so much about Dark Souls 2 being "slow" that we will never ever have a slow souls game again.

DS2 was faster than DS1.
Except for AotA, I guess.

they put Midra in the DLC tho

What about Midra.

jump

I was not one of those people. I got more enjoyment of Dark Souls 2 than most.

Yeah, I know, but people still complained about it being "slow". It was as bullshit a criticism as "omg all u fight are big guys with swords" "omg enemies will actually try to stop me from beating every fight with a buckler and naked dodge roll wtf wtf their ai isn't terrible anymore"
The only legit criticisms of dark souls 2, especially after scholar, I entertain are adaptability (which I actually did personally like as a mechanic and think people who didn't are brainlets) soul memory (retarded, but I understand what they were trying to fix and why) and some of the level transitions. But I also think people blow things like

zomg the transition from earthen peak to iron keep makes no sense TRASH GAME

out of proportion.

make one of the most iconic anticlimax fights in all of gaming

spend the rest of your career making the same spastic, combo chaining backflipping knight with a big glowy sword fight over and over and over again

Did Miyazaki get brain damage after DS1?

retard

dks2's my favorite game, personally, i never fully got the flak about it. i had friends who bitched like relentlessly about the hp drops when you die but it never bothered me. neither did ADP because i am not a retard and actually read what the stats do on the level up screen
in fact i think dks2 is a litmus test for whether or not someone actually plays these games for real because a big investment into ADP only really matters for people who want to dodgespam and parry a bunch. strafing on foot with a high stability shield is a great strategy for people who don't invest in adp and the game is built around the idea of that build variety
it also shows who is and isnt willing to pick up a weird unique weapon or look around the environment to make clearing the level easier, like using the hammer you get from mcduff to rape armored enemies, or using all the explosive barrels littered around lost bastille to clear out gank squads.
like people who complain about that one room in the bastille are total scrubs since there are FIVE different black powder barrel stacks to use against them littered around the room, plus the big one outside if you want to just lure most of them out there to kill them instead

He did. Gwyn is the best final boss I've ever seen. He delivers on the experience, rather than ruining it with a roadblock right at the end.

he's the guy who made AC4 and 4a. He's always been into spastic twitchy gameplay

There was no sense to it. Ds2 was a great game, that understood what Souls was.
Maybe they forgot to pick up a shield.

It's the ones who want the game to cater to challenge runs who complained.

But Gwyn is harder than the other four lords.

Margit, Malenia, and Rellana are the three great filters of Elden Ring. Margit is simple enough: he tries to teach you to attack during bosses' attack chains and not spam roll, and beyond that he teaches you to explore the fucking map. Malenia is a knowledge check. Rellana is my favorite because she's fucking miserable if you've never learned to properly play the game. She rapes people for spamming the two most common defensive options (rolling and backpedaling), but she's extremely susceptible to everything that the average player never learns how to do: parrying, selective blocking, low profiling, and jumping to dodge. And, like Margit, she's also a filter outside of her fight in the sense that you'll get doubly-raped for ignoring that exploration is still important in the DLC and going into the fight with 0-2 blessings.

Honorable mention to Maliketh, who's also quite good at filtering players who never learned how jump works. Consort Radahn isn't a filter, he's just an execution check with too little room for skill expression.

all five of them are meme/pushover bosses although they can rekt you if you have the right type of autism

not exactly easy to selectively block against things that fast.

yeah it fucks me up when I hear/read about people claiming ADP is a required stat, and then it becomes clear they think it's literally required for any build to beat the game. like no motherfucker, just simply use your levels on something else, you can still dodge everything with "shitty" rolls

can't read openings in a single player vidya of a fucking 1v1

calls people shitter

what about elden ring broke people here so badly? the amount of asshurt i've seen this game give people here is truly bizarre. if you're too much of a faggot that you can't stop panicking while fighting bosses in an offline game then go watch a youtube video of the fight so you can actually see where you're fucking up.

fuck you.

you probably the kind of bitch that crys about Milenia when you literally just run left and right not even dodge rolling

I've been seething since ds3. These are not recognizable as Souls-like to me. Same way Breath of the Wild only wears the Zelda name as a skin to sell something else.

Know what both BOTW and new Souls games have in common? They have no restraint.

I loved Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 because they had the restraint that every other action game on the market did not.

I love her being a filter. It really is the same as the apple test if you can't see her patterns. I imagine retards like op just stare like a zombie and never process what's even happening just waiting for it to click in their zombie empty head

Gaius is more BS. I'm sure there's a way to cheese him but the charge attack is total bullshit.

Not even that. DS2 has level bloat, especially in scholar. You can be far above 150 if you don't lose souls much around the midway point. So you can just put a little in ADP anyway, since you're so high level.

True, but there's a solution to this as well: just use a greatshield, greatshield talisman, stamina talisman, barricade shield, the stamina regeneration physick... etc. That's the nice thing about Elden Ring, it offers you a lot of freedom to change your tactics and build, and there's always an option for a less experienced player.

I'm just referring to the average player who, ignoring the blood antspur rapier shieldpoke meta, will probably just stick to using a medium shield or a greatshield without anything to enhance blocking. Most people are stubborn and just refuse to adapt or change their build in the face of a challenge.

whine about "roll slop"

but also refuses to do anything other than roll

What causes this?

The idea behind the entire DLC is that you have to find the Sekiro deflect tear and deflect the infinite flailing autism bosses or you parry those that are able to get parried. The problem with that is that the deflection is a timed buff, a timed extra mechanic tucked away within the buff potion game mechanic. It should have just been a new core gameplay feature instead so you can always deflect if you're good enough or if you learned a boss moveset. Why can your character only perfect deflect when they drink the juice? it's fucking retarded. Radahn laser bullshit can be almost entirely avoided too if you stand in front of him and parry him because his AI never ever stops attacking EVER he's just always swinging so parrying him is just free if you can tank some damage in case you fail. The DLC is focused almost entirely of making you wanna hurry the fuck up with these flailing retard bosses because it gets old really fast if you're not using a big damage meme build.

It's also the reason why bleed is so fucking good, it just accelerated what would otherwise be a dragged out shit fight. I did STR/Faith on my first character and then rolled back a save and respecced into blood shit and the DLC is a lot more fun when fights don't take 45 minutes because I only get to hit the boss once before they flail again or fly the fuck away, so the big bleed hits are amazing to hurry the fuck up. I fucking hate elden ring.

Just raptors of the mist or bloodhound's step the charge. It's a legitimate issue with the boss that was never fixed: his charge leaves lingering hitboxes at fixed intervals for absolutely no reason, which is why it feels like a 50/50 whether you dodge it or not. Either you hit the invisible lingering fart sphere or you don't, there's no skill involved. Optionally, you can fight him on horseback like a fucking psycho, which is really fun and honestly how the fight might've been designed to be beaten.

I beat her 2nd try

Gaius, HIppo, Midra, Metyr etc are completely trivialized by deflect/block.

what about elden ring broke people here so badly?

People who don't use Souls games to validate their egos realized the gameplay was bad.

>make one of the most iconic anticlimax fights in all of gaming

You are MASSIVELY exaggerating the cultural relevance of Demon's Souls. And a single braindead NPC fight in it no less.
So tired of retards regurgitating old MatthewMatosis videos.

this won't work against any boss except her and her sister who gets stunlocked by a dagger.

low profiling the daggers with the L2

kino

yeah 100%. i cringe when i hear some retard say

dks2 took the dark souls is hard meme too far!

there are some things i wish were slightly different about the game though. for example, if the emerald herald could follow you between at least some bonfires, no warping from the start so that level design could be altered to allow the player to appreciate it more
seeker of fire does some of that but still misses certain things, like the emerald herald not being functional when she shows up outside of majula

magic

you didn't beat the game

So tired of retards regurgitating old MatthewMatosis videos.

Let me know when he stops being right and Miyazaki makes something that isn't just rollspam sludge with a Souls skinsuit.

10/10 this is how Miyazaki wanted you to play

Just come back at 15 frag lol?

Elden Ring has a lot of trash bosses because so much of it is recycled dark souls/bb/sekiro content that was too jank and trash to make it into those games proper, but rellana isn't one of them. Her and dancing lion were certified kino.
The enemies I take the most issue with are pre patch radahn because of his broken hitboxes and commander piggy, because of same and his arena design being trash.

SotE had some good bosses mixed in but the first and last bosses were terrible.
Dancing Lion has a horrible camera for such a spastic boss, and Consort is just lame and unfun. Hard to have a good impression of an otherwise decent DLC when the beginning and ending are so bad.

Not unreasonable to use a medium shield, no?

I know I'm not the only one who remembers this: I swear there was a different mentality regarding avoiding damage before Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. Like it used to be that blocking was the default method of avoiding damage while rolling was for "advanced players". I feel like it was Dark Souls 3's disgusting medium roll that's to blame for this, but at some point the average Joe playing these games decided that rolling is the default and blocking is a crutch - when they'd probably be better off blocking and parrying.

If you weren't a secondary who just parrots e-celebs and actually fucking played video games you'd know he does that all the time. In fact one of the reasons people complained so much about Elden Ring is that it punished roll spam.

When will you faggots ever learn that your kills don't count if you took damage?

I think calling it restraint is a mistake. It wasn't a purposeful thing, it was just a limitation of hardware, software, and time. Most of the things those games did right were, in the eyes of the developers, concessions they were making to get the games out.

Taking damage is good if you hyperarmor it.
That's called being a pro.

Dark Souls 2 is a lot of things but restrained is not one of them.

In fact one of the reasons people complained so much about Elden Ring is that it punished roll spam.

Oh, this is the justification for the absolutely garbage animations that deliberately delay when attacks are coming purely to try and punish players for reacting organically to telegraphs.

Elden Ring is dogshit that is made for streamers who have been obsessively playing the same incredibly basic combat system for the prior 15 years.

I don't get it either. Modders already had ported over sekiro's deflect feature perfectly and it was fantastic in an otherwise vanilla playthrough. They also could've just made it a weapon art if they thought deflection was "too strong" to be universal basekit.

OP's basic point is that Souls bosses keep getting faster and attack too often with too few openings is a legitimate one. SOTE took it to ridiculous levels. Yes, there are many ways to beat all the bosses but the devs don't seem to want players to use standard "sword and board" combat, which is a big fucking problem.

Matthewmatosis was right. I didn't come to Dark Souls for pure action, because I can't stand pure action.

DS1 had a harder medium roll to use, but the light and ninja flip were good.
DS2 had ADP.
Bloodborne's iframes were tied to fast animations and the game had a strong R1 and you could roll and do a morph attack, so it was very aggressive.
DS3's medium roll was ludicrous, while shields were just kinda bad unless you're using a greatshield, and only in NG as they became trash in NG+ cycles.
I also remember, NG+7 kills were more valued back in DS3. Nobody cares about them now, probably because Elden Ring's NG+7 doesn't modify damage taken that much, it just makes the boss more of a slog.

Deflect tear is a buff for the block and guard counter playstyle and you can block and guard counter just fine without the tear.

Sword and board has never been better so you are retarded. SOTE bosses have plenty of openings if you don't ignore block, deflect, jump, low attacks and parry.

You and me both. You never see anyone block these days, they got it from all their other action games. I always treated the roll as the advanced maneuver for the big enemies back in the day.

It's not unreasonable if you actually invest in things that enhance blocking, which a lot of people don't do: leveling your stamina, upgrading your shield, using the greatshield talisman, using some sort of source of stamina regeneration, etc. Most people will just pick up the brass shield (which is one of the best medium shields in the game), never upgrade it, and expect to block the world.

Did you know that upgrading the brass shield makes its guard boost go from 61 to fucking 75, which is as much as the visage shield's base guard boost? The visage shield weighs like 24 units to the brass shield's 7. That shit's important.

This boss was hard on launch night cause we all beat dancing lion with no scadu fragments and we were planning to do the DLC without them, but Rellana really steps up the curve with both defense and offense. I caved in and killed her shortly after using frags to go from 0 to 4. And then they buffed early game frag levels, so she became easier.
Probably didn't help that I fought her after a 10 hour shift at my wage slave job, but Dancing Lion was only a few tries after that at 1 A.M.

They didn't feel like concessions to me. To me, they felt like my favorite games ever, exactly what I wanted from them.

Elden Ring and SotE have more openings per minute than DS3 bosses did. Yes, someone bothered to calculate this as objectively as possible with generic ultra greatsword as a baseline. tl;dr the bosses are about as active between DS3 and ER, but you have a lot more agency in terms of how you respond in ER. Most players just ignore a lot of the tools you have and never really learn how to play the game.

why do people play this shit when it's such a downgrade from sekiro?
Look at those animations they're pretty much just as bad as DS1.

Well most souls players might legitimately be retarded. Won't use summons, won't use consumables, or Ashes of War or spells or ranged weapons. Bitch this game is only as hard as you make it and you chose cock and ball torture as the default. Don't complain about difficulty when you made it that way for yourself.

no, not really. Dark Souls 1 is what created the idea of dodge rolling because stripping down to your skivvies and ninja flipping with the wood grain ring completely broke the game. Even just using the basic quick roll shattered the games incredibly simplistic AI and allowed players to cheese 99% of the game. The other 1% got destroyed by ridiculously lenient buckler parry windows.
Dark Souls 2 addressing these faults is what rankled so many players into complaining about how "hard" parrying was (because you now had to actually time your parries, and enemy moves while telegraphed had VERY accurate hitboxes contrary to common misconception and AI was improved to no longer be totally brain dead in response to the player trying to outmaneuver them)
All of the problems you're talking about in Dark Souls 3 was a rubber band snap in response to the criticisms of Dark Souls 2. And the success of 3 is why Souls slop is what it is today.

Endurance was 40 by the time I got to the DLC.
Had Greatshield Talisman, a fully upgraded Banished Knight's Shield, and Rellana still found a way to get right around it.

Consumables and aromatics are so ridiculously cracked it breaks my brain that players don't bother using them. It's genuinely just like Dks2 all over again.

God elden ring is such slog to play. This is my biggest gripe with this game. All of the effort went heavily into bosses and spectacles and it shows. I just want my comfy rpg back not boring empty open world.

i felt so fucking vindicated about the hitbox thing when that youtube video showed, in developer mode, how laser accurate the hitboxes were in the pursuer boss fight. the "janky hitbox" is actually just a janky animation because touching the player's ankle with the sword puts them into the grab anim

Yeah, because farming for consumables is fucking pain in the butt.

Bro? You're not passively collecting them when you see them in the wild?
You're not using excess runes to buy out the good consumables and mats from merchants when you can? Couldn't be me

For me it's Messmer, the hardest DLC boss. He simply CANNOT be rollslopped.

No you don't farm them. You simply use them when you have them without caring if you die because not using them is a waste by default.

He's one of the easiest to rollslop.
His phase 2 just has a fuck you AOE that scares you with taking a ton of damage followed by a ton of snakes but it doesn't matter you can just chug it.

The hitbox nonsense was all lies. Not like it matters, that's what a shield is for. So you don't have to constantly worry about hitboxes. Unfortunate that everyone who played ds2 forgot about shields.

but the devs don't seem to want players to use standard "sword and board" combat,

that's just not true. sword and board is ez mode for boss pve if you build correctly. the turtle poke builds completely trivialize bosses like promised consort.

Dark Souls was wait your turn. Ds3 was roll every other second, with the heavy knight gameplay thrown out the window.

I do, but most useful consumables have some annoying bottleneck ingredient that you only get in a very limited quantity during normal "natural" gameplay.
So if you want to stock up well, you need to farm.

Bro? You're not passively collecting them when you see them in the wild?

the average player when they get 15 smoldering butterflies from behind fort gael:

sigh more useless GARBAGE. when i going to get an item for my build™?...

me:

wow nice the materials for 15 fire damage nukes that i didn't need to farm for

this. it has literally never been better than in elden ring. even basic bitch longsword with a shield with either parry or no skill on it is excellent.

>zero openings

I legit hate new/bad players as much as fromsoft dickriders. A legitimate complaint would be how bosses in late game have too many AOE type attacks that catch you off guard and force trail and error at worst or overly defensive gameplay at best until you "learn" the boss and you cant rely on reflexes to avoid attacks like you can for most of the early game content (nevermind watchdog slam and margit dagger).

Bads assume everything is inherently trial and error anyways so dont notice and complain about dumb shit. Dickriders defend literally everything about the game and call you bad for having any criticism.

Redditor brainrot. It was the same even in Dark Souls 1.
It took until the new generation of sloptubers like lemon to figure out that the consumables in Dark Souls 1 were really strong because his wife, who didn't listen to his soijak opinions when playing the game, played how she wanted to and liberally used firebombs and throwing knives.
The myth challenge runners perpetuated was that the "correct" way to play the game was by gitting gud and stripping down so you could just OuTsKiLl all the enemies instead of not being fuckng retarded and using items to cover gaps in your character's build. To this day there are people who don't know you can just use transient curses to kill the ghosts in new londo instead of running past everything.

Whats funny is you clown children make the game significantly harder by dual wielding instead of using a shield because you are either fucking stupid or followers and using builds you saw other people or streamers using.

I also beat her with parrying my first time and I felt pretty dirty for it
I still have no idea when it's safe to attack in phase 2

That's not true though, I have literally never had this problem even once and I use items very liberally.
SAME.

Every one of his attacks has a weird delay that makes it hard to rollspam unless if you know his moves really well, or has double hits designed to rollcatch which includes every one-two spear slash that he does pretty often.

reminds me of the cucks who try to say the drake sword is bad because it falls off eventually
hello, nigger? then stop using it when it falls off because you should have found something better by then, damn.

DAMAGE NEED MORE DAMAGE MUST PRESS L1 MOOORE DAMAGE

ER players fall into the fallacy where they think 2h or dual wield is automatically better than using a shield because it does more damage on paper.

Yeah, if you have an arcane build maybe. The one stat I can't stand. So much for my Golden Order Paladin.

heavy square off broadsword

I remember a friend seething in impotent rage, literally yelling at me about how I wasn't playing the game right and that I was robbing myself of an experience because I used the beast's roar hunter tool to beat Maria. This was years ago, of course, but I still remember it to this day because of how unhinged it was
Went on a massive tirade about how I was ruining the game playing it that way

Just read it and watched the attached clip. He's playing the game very stereotypically, he's just doing roll and R1s. He says Elden Ring had more aggressive bosses that require more reactive gameplay, while also allowing the player to be aggressive back, but he's not even using the mechanics you were talking about. Like he's using a colossal sword, but not blocking, or jumping, or superarmoring with his ash. I get he's trying to play it just like DS3, but I think it just makes the data worse. You CANNOT guard counter in DS3. I still find it interesting the graph is still like that with just his playstyle, even when he's not counting hits against a staggered boss.

I never learned fighting with a shield because my first souls gaym was Bloodborne and my stupid brain has a hard time relearning stuff

"Gitgud" argument made it impossible to discuss any issues with Souls games' combat in good faith.

You need a build to use a sword and shield? What the fuck is a build?

Someone mentioned the turtle poke. Said turtle poke is usually paired with a thrusting sword or a great spear that can inflict a status, which you can only get working with an arcane build.

I beat Rellana with the executioner's great axe and a bottle of vodka and it's some of the most fun I've had in recent memory.
"You didn't beat the game" posters killed shield users a decade ago

but the devs don't seem to want players to use standard "sword and board" combat, which is a big fucking problem

seems fine to me

What's the best parry ash of war?

better than being a magic shitter

same blue and red sword gimmicks

same complaints about relentless spammy attacks

I'm shocked this isn't pontiff from DS3 after seeing pictures the past year
From creativity has fallen so low. What a dishonest shit company.

carian retaliation
they nerfed golden retaliation into being trash for no reason.

No you don't NEED an arcane build to inflict status. You don't need to min max or level up in this game.

Back in DS 1 heyday people still recognized how janky and unfinished the game was but nowday it is just some larping cult. Really sad to see.

or level up in this game.

If you wanna use medium shield you prob should.

Dark Souls games you can do whatever and have fun, meanwhile in ER you either stomp the boss without needing to learn anything thanks to some OP spell, ash or summon; or you play a "fair" build and have to wait for 3 delayed timing combos to safely do a single attack that does 2% of the boss HP

You don't. Even an RL1 character can tank waterfowl dance with a medium shield.

Waterfowl doesn't drain that much stamina.

radahns.webm - 640x360, 3.36M

I'm getting filtered by consort radahn

phase one is a total pushover I can no-hit

phase two starts and it's just a non stop chimpout I literally cannot do anything and getting hit once means getting combo'd to death

and using summons give him so much health that his health bar doesn't even move when hit I genuinely thought the game was bugging out at first
this is ridiculous

Writing this.

While ER exists with it's current iteration of Guard Counter.

You have to be either retarded or intentionally pretending to be retarded.

His moveset stays the same for the most part. When he goes in the sky for his air clones after doing his meteors, run back and then roll the slam his real body does.
Also stay super close to him so his light beams don't hit you. His final desperation move is different than Starscourge, don't bother looking up at the sky. Just run towards the gate. You can roll it too but the timing is scuffed and if you mess it up you're just fucked since it hits super-duper hard.

Parrying prevent light pillars from spawning. One thing that players never seem to do is jump the stomp. With a decently fast weapon you get a free jumping R1.

Before we go any further, how about we define what "fair" means here. Because if it's some basic shit like "only uses melee, no spells or summons" then that's a challenge run and not exactly fair.

The jump comes out fast and you'll be hugging around his foot for the most part so the light beams don't hit you so the foot just hits you instead. Plus, like you said, not worth it for bigger weapons. Greatswords can just barely do it, everything slower than them don't get it. You can do a jumping R2 with the lighter weapons if you want.

I don't use shields because I either two hand or always have a catalyst in my left hand. Also they look stupid. Maybe this is why I found the game so fucking hard, but I can't go around in the game with a shield and spear like some kind of queer knight.

I thought this was Pontiff Sulyvahn from the catalog, From really is creatively bankrupt at this point

Just block with your weapon lol?

Devonia cosplay

Good stuff.

Yeah I took creative liberties with the dagger.

but the devs don't seem to want players to use standard "sword and board" combat

You literally are complaining about that in a thread with multiple standard sword-and-board builds thrashing the boss.

If you want to get your crit multipliers to shorten the fight, no one sane would judge you for it. Especially vs. Consort Radahn.

she quick slashes you if she does this sort of cross sword stance, and you attack her. She also quick slashes you if you get a bunch of hits on her uninterrupted. That alone results in players taking a bunch of unnecessary damage because she also does follow ups after.

I originally gave it raptor of the mist because landing it against his phase transition nuke got me a 1/2 chance of actually landing this hammer's ash against Radahn, but I just gave it the wings again since it was 1/2.
For some reason they made that ash pretty bad. I get making it slower than the sword's version, but it does both less damage and less stance damage than the sword's version as well. Just a strange decision, don't know if they ever changed it.

rad. i love the carian catalyst sword. wish there were more weapons like it

some OP spell, ash or summon

It's really odd how rather than reflecting on the fact that every single conceivable build known to man has been shown to be able to beat every single "impossible" boss in the game handily, the notion has to be that these are all fake videos and in fact every time Consort Radahn, Malenia, Rellana, or (boss you currently are being filtered by) cannot be beaten with whatever toolset you've chosen to limit yourself to. Learn how to parry, learn how to guard counter, learn how to use more than just R1 spam, use items, hedge advantages with your gear, stop pretending this is Dark Souls 1 and actually use the myriad tools at your disposal and learn how they fucking work.

literally just learn patterns parrying make this easier but you don't need parry all of her attacks are dodgeable and she has openings it just that the window in dlc is way shorter and required player to have faster reaction time or memorizing boss patterns. also you cannot just dodge all attacks rolling same direction

Everyone sucks Bloodborne penis but that's the game that destroyed the elegance of Dark Souls combat. Why?

I think it's mostly because of Devonia's being a colossal hammer and Ordovis mostly just being a greatsword. Devonia has a lot higher baseline Stance damage, higher base AR and as a result it also gets some more mileage out of its jump attacks and core moveset. Making the Ash of War inherit all of those would not make much sense as the hammer itself is nowhere near reliant on it as Ordovis is.

they said that to the new guys to make them learn to play instead of just havels brute forcing everything. It took years before people who came new onto the souls scene with 1 realized shields were actually good. You had people saying not to use shields because they thought they were bad, in fact they were told not to use them themselves because veterans thought they made the game too easy.

partially accyrate. what actuallyyyyyy was the case was that, pre youtube guide surge which happened post DaS2
no one knew what i frames were or how to use them orrrrrrr that the optimal strat was to roll ONTO attacks not away
when this was discovered then everyone dropped shields

spells take too long to cast.
can't parry every boss.
deflect tear saved me.

Her sister is hotter

tastelet.

anon plays Souls game

struggles, but has fun and feels proud getting to end and mastering the game

new souls game comes out

anon has become an arrogant shithead who thinks that he will never struggle again

he inevitably does struggle because game is slightly different and he doesn’t know it as well as game he spent an entire year playing

does not have fun, instead declares “From has fallen” and decides that he is still obviously a master, but new game is obviously just shit and unfair, and impossible to learn and master in ways old game was (conviently forgetting that getting good at old game took a long time)

New NEW souls game (or even DLC) comes out, all complaints about prior entry are forgotten, since he’s probably actually learned it by now, instead hates new thing for exact same reasons he hated last thing, even getting nostalgia for the “good old days” of prior game before From went to shit, completely forgetting that he said identical things last year about the very boss he is nostalgic for

Happens with every new release, not just Fromsoft but entire subgenre. Lies of P caused endless seething, and it’s about to happen again when DLC releases, people will be upset and saying “they went too far” and saying DLC bosses are too much compared to the excellent base game bosses (who they wrote essays complaining about on release).

If you say shit like “no attack opportunities” it’s instant proof you never even tried. Litterally every SOTE boss has openings big enough for Collosal weapon charge R2’s, that’s literally the speed-run route, using a massive fucking hammer and doing charge heavies.

There’s a few problematic attacks. Pre-nerf Consort was just bad, no one disagrees. Metyr’s laser beam also, and Gaius’ charge. But those are incredibly rare exceptions. Nearly anything (Ballista’s being exception) is perfectly viable at killing DLC bosses, and Ballosta can actually work, but it partially comes to luck.

No. lol. Thats just you.
Ever since demons souls the community has had elitist ways to play. The default elitist way was to two hand a small weapon like a longsword or scimitar.
By dark souls 1 the meme "you didnt beat the game" didnt really exist but people were told

not to use shields

not to use great weapons, or really big weapons

black knight weapons

not to wear heavy armor

not to use shields

This was dark souls 1 version of "you didnt beat the game" because these things made the game so easy. New players were actually gaslit into thinking these things were bad but the elite players knew otherwise, they just wanted people to "git gud" and engage the game mechanics.

Using shields was more engaging than rolling though.
Also all the other posts responding to that guy agree with him somewhat.

Shields make the game way easier and turn the game into baby mode when you have a good shield.

Also all the other posts responding to that guy agree with him somewhat.

I dont care what you retarded zoomers agree with. I bought dark souls 1 at 8am on the day of release when the store opened and talked about it on Anon Babble before and after release.

Honestly I disagree, both Bloodborne and Sekiro almost instantly clicked with me even though they're completely different from ds1 and 2, but no matter how much I play ER it just doesn't feel good to play at all, whenever I killed a boss id just go "thank god that's over" instead of "fuck yes I did it". Haven't played the dlc but I've heard it is everything bad with the base game times a hundred

I bought dark souls 1 at 8am on the day of release

No you didn't

Shields play like 1/3rd into the green bar’s existence. You can ignore it for the most part if you’re two-handing a light weapon. We’re not going to pretend zweihander didn’t exist back then, are we?
Because I do remember that. “Ditch the shield and discover more fun playstyles” yet most of those styles were way easier than just using your longsword with that Knight’s Shield you found in the Parish.

lol
Shields needed to be upgraded like weapons to be good. A lot of new players didnt know that and would try a shield against enemies beyond the undead parish and then think they sucked and took too much stamina. A fully upgraded shield would often take less stamina than rolling vs most attacks. Shields were and are an easy mode.

Heavy armor is also a form of easy mode. You can wear heavy armor to literally stat check bosses and just out trade them then use a estus flask to heal when you start getting low. Once in a while a boss would have an attack that he charges up that could 1 hit you, then you would just hold up your shield to block the damage and go back to spamming R1 and pushing estus when you get below 50% HP.

whats that helmet

death knight helmet
it's in one of the catacombs in the dlc

Elden Ring bosses just aren't fun

find “Dryleaf Seal”

oh cool, martial art weapon that doubles as a faith catalyst!

it’s actually just a faith Catlyst, not a melee weapon hybrid

specifically a Faith Catlyst that’s extremely good early game, but gets outclassed once you hit middling levels of Faith. So it’s an item only good for early game characters, found in the endgame scaled DLC.

A martial art / sacred seal hybrid would be so easy to make as well, since there would be ZERO animation issues with weird clipping.

SOTE was THE sword and board DLC. Half the bosses are trivialized by blocking, guard countering and parrying. I'm not talking about the fingerprint cheese or anything like that. Just a medium shield and medium size weapon. Going back to Dark Souls basic solves the entire game.

Yeah upgrading sheilds is something that people just never do.

Because guard boost only increases every 3rd upgrade usually, so you have to upgrade twice for seemingly zero benifit before you see a reason to do it. And also people are too stupid to do simple maths, and think increasing Guard Boost won’t be noticeable. EG 70 to 71 what’s that even gonna do? But 70 to 71 is actually a 3.4% reduction in stamina cost. Because the actual number is 30 vs 29, which is stamina damage taken. 89 to 90 guard boost is a 10% reduction in stamina cost. 1 single point of guard boost means a lot, and each point you get closer to 100 the more valuable they get. EG a theoretical 98 to 99 upgrade is a 50% reduction in stamina cost. But people are conditioned to believe that everything has diminishing returns for some reason, and never stop to actually think.

Checkpoint right in front of said boss, forgoing any attempt at actual level design? Check.

What's wrong with you? Not doing this killed dark souls for me.

Correct. With the fastest weapon I had I could swing at her 1 time. Sometimes twice, but then I would be risking taking a hit depending on what follow up she went for.

Its literally a parry boss. Except parrying is sketchy as fuck with her, since some of the parries don't register well for certain attacks. So even there you have to go for 1-2 of her attacks, and hope she uses them often enough.

So its literally a fight of nothing but waiting. You wait for her to flail around for a while, poke, then wait again, parry, then wait again, OOPS missed the parry, wait again.... parry OH SHIT YOU CAN DEAL 15% of her HP BAR IN DAMAGE!!!!
Waiting again...

Most difficult fights in elden ring fall into 2 categories. Broken hitboxes, and boring. This is the boring type. Where the enemy gets insanely long attack strings so all you get to do is watch and wait for 90% of the fight.

jump attack with heavy weapon and don't cancel the endlag

watch what happens

She rapes people for spamming the two most common defensive options (rolling and backpedaling)

Funny you say that, because multiple of her attacks require you to backpedal
Her frost slashes combo requires you to walk/run away diagonally from her
Her fire tornado attack requires you to backpedal away from her.
She is also less susceptible to parrying since you need 2 parries to break her stance
And she is also not susceptible to blocking, since the problem she causes is short windows of opportunity. And that is not something blocking changes.

She is just a really annoying slow fight. And the one time I had someone question my skill, and wanted to show off how its done properly, he then proceded to wipe against her multiple times and then just brushed it off, as "worked when he ran into her before".
Ok. I get it, your bleed rapier could slowly poke her to death. Good on you. Still does not make the fight fun or interactive.

This is literally the pinnacle of wiping at a fight for a day just to prove how skilled you are, because you finally managed to get that 1 recording where you actually hit all the parries.

best boss

Is this why you have to post a video of massively outscaling it? To the point where the bosses attacks barely deal any damage to you?

I beat her with a collosal greatsword, no magic or summons or ashes or whatever, and it still feels kind of overboard.

You really get these moments in many elden ring souls fights where the game feels like a sore loser. Spiteful and cheating. Like the game is making things that should work not work arbitrarily.

Sometimes you will exploit a clear opening, with every telegraph of a real opening, or put up a block, a move the point of which is to effectively block damage unless staggered, and she just wraps around you. There's no real logic to when she can do this, you just have to learn when the game magically tends to let her do this, with no real internal logic. Its like you did the right thing, or at least a valid thing, and the game goes "nuh-uh, you're not supposed to win" and punishes you for doing a correct thing that's too effective "too much". If you don't want players spamming attacks and abusing stagger you can have poise and some hyperarmour on very explicitly telegraphed moves. If you don't want players turtling behind a shield you can inflict more stagger. But just spraying water in the players face for being too effective is just aggravating.

just don't play your build and see what happens

Gee, why did I not think of that. I should just figure out the exploit for each boss and fully respect my build, and recraft my whole setup. 10/10 design!

laughs in *DING* *DING* *DING*

what's your build

Literally her and the slithery fiery fuck are the reason I am not replaying elden ring. 2 insanely unfun fights.
She is just a tedious drawn out fight.
And the slithery fuck is a camera spazzfest, and I wish only ill upon whoever decided that LOCKING ON with a camera is more of a suggestion rather than actually LOCKING on.

slap rellana like a hooker

great thrilling boss that keeps up pressure and is a dance

cocaine prancing lion

kek

lmfao

my whole body is a hitbox

I killed it in 5 tries but of all the bosses in elden ring it is the absolute most shit.

First time time I played DS1 I thought it was insanely hard because I had no idea rolling makes you fucking invicible. Really doesnt make any sense.

AWOOGA

One was Dex/faith
One was a poison bleed build after the nerf of the poison dmg bs weapon art

I'm not redownloading a game I don't intend to play just so you can move goalposts to something else.

The worst final boss in gaming is the sands of time.

player set to dark souls 3 speed

boss set to sekiro speed

bravo miyazaki, you made a tedious chore even more annoying.

parrying

not taking damage

I just brute force this bitch, I fucking love face tanking and trading.

Axe.webm - 1280x720, 3.65M

Elden ring is probably the easiest souls game I've played. Just get I high str weapon that breaks poise and you're set.

that one attack where she suddenly starts wielding her swords like they're five times heavier, fucking up the whole rhythm

What's up with that? Did some intern get the wrong idea about her?

the bosses are slower than DS3

the bosses are faster than DS3

Ds2 was a horrendous game, and I say this as someone who liked ds2. The dlcs did much to improve the game, but even the dlcs are filled with the same problems that plagued the main game. So many rooms filled with gangsquads, and designed in a way to stop the player from picking them off or baiting them with ranged weapons. This is the "le prepare to die" retardation that started with ds1 taken to extreme.

I'm grateful that Fromsoft acknowledged the lessons they learned with DS2, and those lessons helped shape Elden ring, their best game so far. In this way I feel my love for ds2 vindicated.

Imagine if Fromsoft listened to the 1% who actually think DS2 is a good game with no flaws, Fromsoft would have gone bankrupt after ds3 flopped in that timeline, and neither Sekiro and Elden ring would have been made.

Funny, once upon a time I was an ardent ds2 defender, but those days I want to kill anyone who actually thinks that game was not heavily fucking flawed in every way.

Even so I hope ds2 will get a proper remake someday, hopefully with ADP and Soul Memory removed, since those features are just peak retardation and actively hinders new players from enjoying the game.

Do people like you not understand how videos work? Do you think they will show every failed attempt when they are trying to make a compilation like this? For all you know this was the only time they managed to beat her out of 500+ attempts.
Also

without getting hit

Well no shit, when running an absolutely minmaxed build that requires you to be on 0 hp and stack literally every dmg boost available at that point in the game. AND STILL do pathetic dmg to her, when most bosses could be 2-3 shot at that point.

So many rooms filled with gangsquads, and designed in a way to stop the player from picking them off or baiting them with ranged weapons

yes, you're supposed to utilize tactics, make use of your enviroment, exploit choke points.
its the only fromsoft game that forces you to be creative with encounters, instead of letting you run past everything and exploit the generous i-frames.

Just parry her my god. Every single faggot whining about a duelling boss needs to understand they're niggers for ignoring parrying, her fight's choreography and rhythm transforms when you use it.

This cunt gets it. Rellana's a little ''do you still remember how to actually play?'' check for the dlc.

Aw man he really hit me with the "doesn't count >:((((("

Post your no hit then

I like this webm because now I'm thinking about Miariam's.

didn't beat the game

dog 3 LOST.

Same. This game peaks at world design and just wandering around. The bosses were way too over the top. Once you burn out on it it lasts for a year or two before you can touch it again. Terrible.

what is this, a webm for ants?

Are you retarded? The fuck would my no hit prove? I literally just told you that you can get a no hit on her with enough tries. I never did a no hit, but the last fight I had with her was 1 hit taken. Would I use that fight as an example of how easy the fight is? Fuck no, it was 3-4 hours into fighting her with a specific setup, and I only got it because she went for the right attacks at the right time.

For the record I don't just blindly praise FromSoft for stuff like this. The DLC itself drops the ball hard in this regard with Consort Radahn. It's full of attacks you can strafe, jump, low profile with animations, or even crouch, and then they throw

okay strafe right and roll good

the boss at you. I was really disappointed by this.

I'm a new player who wanted to buy DS3 in 2017 but didn't. I bought ER in 2022.

They went too far.
Golden Shade of Godrey and Margit were the only enjoyable bosses.

Skill issue

taste haver.

Some are, but a lot of the side bosses are just flipped assets that got scrapped from other From titles for being shit, and you feel it.
