I own several headsets and have an rtx 5080. I am so white that I don't tan and I own a big fucking house with two rooms I don't even use. I haven't found a compelling reason to buy a new headset since I bought the Vive Pro.

Beat Saber is great. I really enjoyed Knockout League. There were one or two other games that were okay. It's not worth the price and devs aren't going to put money into it.

I don't know if they are first to market with all of these, but Oculus was the reason we have analog sticks and face buttons, cheap slam tracking with cameras, system on a chip so it can use normal consumer wireless, computer vision hand tracking, quest pro eyetracking, time of flight depth sensor for AR, asynchronous space warp, pancake lenses, doesn't matter if I'm forgetting a few things. When we count what was new on the index it's a short list like nice audio and controller finger tracking with grip pressure that only valve used because they had low market share. Otherwise the index was obsoleted by the quest 2 a year later, and the quest 3 came out well before deckard. This is not an opinion, no matter how much I like valve more than zuck most VR progress has not been made by valve, let alone all of it, that's an absurd statement.

A quest 2 is $150-200. Most VR games are low fidelity and only require a modest computer, and sure most game suck, but there's also VR conversions of old games that also don't need an expensive computer to run. As for AAA, I ran alyx on a 1060, and you'll want something strongeer for skyrim with mods, grab a used 3060 something. Things you can't run without money are VR conversions of newer games and flightsim, but that's hardly all of VR. But basically any PC gamer with at least a modest setup should pick up a cheap headset.

The genre needs more flatscreen VR ports, with a seated+gamepad mode (that isn't insanely involved to set up) for all the fatties.
VR porn is definitely worth it. The minor issues I have are that not many top-tier actresses do it (or at least I can't find any vids starring them on the free sites), western directors frequently fuck up the angles (JAV porn almost never does) and it still has a lot of stepshit and cringe cosplay.

It's really good but there isn't a lot to choose from and it's mostly vanilla stuff. The file sizes are massive since you need at least 6K video to avoid it looking blurry, and the production quality varies wildly. Often you'll see distortion or bad focus from either a bad camera/setup or the actress not understanding the limits of the camera and moving too close.
Fapping with a headset on, totally unaware of your surroundings is not ideal. Plus no matter how real it looks, it still feels like your hand.

There's no games and there's no games because the market is too small and it's much more expensive/difficult to develop for.

It's kind of true but even after the amazement is gone the interactivity or potential for interactivity is still there. I still fire up blade and sorcery. I don't feel as "inside the game" as I used to, but you can't substitute its combat in a flat game. And later when games use LLMs or advanced AI, communicating and interacting with the NPCs will be that much more incomparable to the same thing in a flat game.

I used the Movies & Tv app that's the default video player. Worked just fine, then Microsoft removed the tab to olay your personal files so I can't use that on VR.
