It started off as a shitty dark souls clone then eventually morphed into some hybrid of DMC. So I supposed it was ahead of its time, but not necessarily always in a good way.

It's more of an instanced multiplayer game than an MMO these days. Also I reinstalled and played for a few months last year and it's even more p2w than I remembered. Nexon is cancer so I will be pirating Defying Fates.

Dont forget that WoW also ruined vindictus, as the second director (HanJaeHo) decided that the answer to "how do we get the wow crowd?" was to ditch the titles system (earning stats by completing challenges) and introduce leveling stats, along with heavier emphasis on item stats instead of combat efficiency.

All that did was tank the playerbase and end up with them needing to milk gooner whales to keep the game alive.

It released less than a year after Demon's Souls, years before anyone would have reason to make Dark Souls clones.
It had its same style of action combat since day one, and only by nature of games escalating as time goes on, did it and the newer characters become increasingly more exaggerated and faster.

Truth.
It's basically BDO but with actual PvE content worth a damn. And somehow even more slutty characters/costumes.

bdo ripped off Vindictus and Dragon nest animations years after both bad been out, and just tried to sell you the idea the combat was exactly the same but now in "LE EPIK OPEN WORLD" It would be more proper to say "bdo is basically like vindictus", but In reality, its shameful to compare the two, bdo is only "like vindictus" in the way that watching a grainy russian cam recording of a movie starring a guy who looks a litle bit like you means that you're an actor. Its that far removed and nonsensical.

I played that game during open beta for the angel wings cosmetic reward, and they never delivered it to my account so I never played again. Fun little game though! Is it still alive?

Eh, theres a few private servers (Anon Babble did a one week playthrough of it on one) and I think the official server is still up, but no longer Nexon, I didnt sign up for migration in time so it deleted my shit and I decided not to pick it back up again. Had really solid PVP though.

skill issue

All I remember about this game was like 15 years ago when you needed silver coins to play the game, and you could basically only do 1-2 polar bear dungeons a day. Those were good times.

WHAT GAME

If I liked Tera and Firefall, would I like this game?
Why does every mmo I enjoy get dismantled? Maybe I should avoid this game so it doesn't get canceled by my bad luck.

Vindictus, like every Korean MMO. Was fantastic at launch and gradually ruined by the devs attempts to appeal to a wider audience and streamline the game.
Other than the token system, early Vindictus was probably the most fun game I have ever played and it is depressing that no playable version of it exists.
