Narzissenkreuz sword

It's funny how much people want that to be the Traveler's main weapon despite how utterly irrelevant it is. The entire Narzissenkreuz story is fundamentally about stopping a guy who had no idea what the fuck he was doing and was completely in the dark about things that were actually happening in the main story. He was trying to save Fontaine, but he had no idea of Focalors' plan or about the whale. The sword's only purpose was to save him, but it's completely worthless for dealing with the real problems. Also, its main power, the ability to switch between Arkhe elements, is completely pointless outside of Fontaine.

People want it to be Traveler's sword because currently he's using the Prototype Amber of all things and the Narzissenkreuz storyline was at least something major he did that canonically gave him a "legendary" sword.

It's not legendary. In fact, lorewise, the Prototype Amber is probably the better weapon in spite of not being "special".

Let's say Sumeru ended with Arama or Rana handing you some random 4* sword that buffed Dendro damage in Sumeru or something, people would have the same feeling towards that.

None of the swords are central to the plot. Traveler just randomly goes to a Silver Sword around Inazuma and then the Prototype Amber around Sumeru or Fontaine to show progression in strength.

Traveler actually arbitrarily changed between Dull Blade and Silver Sword. There wasn't really a pattern or order to it. Consistency has been fairly new.

Of course, the one piece of consistency is that all of the weapons they use are ones that the player would inevitably obtain as they continued playing (unless they ignored the Adventurer's Guild completely). Since the Narzissenkreuz questline can be completely ignored if the player wished, and events can be played out of order, I suppose there's still more sense to the Traveler using the Rancour than the Sword of Narzissenkreuz. The player can do the Natlan Archon Quest without ever speaking to Ann.

If they really wanted they could make it so that the game checks if you've done the quest. If you've never touched it then Traveler uses the Prototype Rancour, if you have finished it he uses the Narzissenkreuz sword. They're fairly detail-oriented and that would just be a cool attention to detail since they already reference other stuff you did like events for example.

Since all weapons have different lengths, widths and shapes, it'd be a headache. There's a reason why, even though the cutscenes aren't pre-rendered, they still prefer to keep the Traveler's weapon static. Minor variables are an unnecessary headache they they don't want to deal with.

Personally, if I had my way, I'd give each region a generic 2-star weapon and have the Traveler switch to that whenever they're in the area.

Lumine has the better design than Aether.
Caelus and Stelle aren't that different in quality, though I do think Caelus could use a slightly more standout hairstyle.
Wise and Belle are pretty even. They're both plain and generic, almost NPC-like. Belle's energetic personality makes her stand out a little better than Wise though, but that's got nothing to do with their appearances.

Male protagonists are usually designed to be self-inserts. They can be kinda cool-looking, but just generic enough that most dudes can go "He's just like me frfr".

On the other hand, my theory is that since most artists for these kinds of games are prone to waifufaggotry themselves, they can't help but try to make the heroines as appealing as possible. Male protagonist usually aren't designed to be husbandos, but most heroines have a high probability of being someone's waifu.

I don't play Genshit, but it does bother me that the start of the game is losing your sibling and the rest of the game is you trying to save them. I hate narratives where the MC is seperated from a loved one and spends all their time trying to get back to them. Just hundreds of hours/chapters/episodes of near misses. Frustrating as fuck.
