ban twitter threads

Weren't Gabe cock suckers praising alyx for having bubbly soda in that shitty game? I seem to remember that.

You can polish a turd and it will still be a turd.

well if the game is good/ you like it then it adds to the experience like rdr2 or kcd for me
but if you don't like the game then all of it feels like an insult to injury and waste of time

goes to a Twitter page dedicated to over analyzing GTA 6

"EEERRRM, WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT BUBBLE FIZZYNESS IT'S NOT FUN"

Don't go to the specific page that autistic ally looks at each polygon on the black woman's fat ass

GTA is slop is this stuff is important for slopenjoyers. They love pointless garbage like this.

that's right gaben all games should look like boxboy. having a detailed living world you can explore is unfun

IMG_7487.png - 800x779, 15.99K

Something to do with the liquid in the bottle moving about as you rotate it around and shit

completely miss what Gaben was talking about

hmm it must have been about cool bubble shaders

Now that is some useless attention to detail.

i hate popular things

sure thing dude

Gaben used to be cool, what happened?

how can I get on my knees and suck gaben's cock today? I got just the idea!

There's attention to detail (absolutely vital in basically any job ever) and obsession with pointless detail

To be fair it's actually pretty fun to fuck with things like that in a VR game that is specifically about the physics. Not really equivalent

will go broke

i think there's a better chance of aliens destroying earth in 2026 than gta 6 going broke

Yes he is because as someone else had pointed out previously, what does this add to the game? You look at it once and think "wow cool!" and never care about it ever again. If you go out of your way to make something stand out, to be a point of interest (yes bubbles in a bottle of beer is a PoI but not in the same sense as some structure or location on a map) then it needs to keep being a point of interest otherwise there's no point to begin with. Stuff like this is nice on a surface level, but after a while you start wondering why did they even bother. It's just more useless processing your computer/console needs to do

you have to be a tard to think that

The detail itself isn't the problem, it's the over reliance on it for spectacle and distraction at the expense of the "fun" part.
Does that detail in any way interract with or affect gameplay? Does it serve any other purpose at all?
It's about bloat trim and removing overall pointless work.

Is actually fun as in it helps with puzzles, mechanics, etc. or “fun” in that you look at it for like 3 minutes and never interact with it again for most of the game

I don't really think spending a thousand dollars to strap a tablet to my face and put up cameras to knock down all over my room is very fun but gabe did.

i-it doesn't count, it's totally okay when v-v-valve does it

Right on cue, drone.

Gaben doesn't even do shit except sit on pc monopoly lol. Completely irrelevant.

Ignoring the watermelon faggot meme, he's literally not wrong. Who genuinely gives a fuck about bubbles fizzling inside a bottle. You're never not once going to actually look closely enough at it to truly appreciate it. This isn't 2002 where this shit was actually really impressive.

It's the schizo talking about Eric all the time. So yeah

How is leaving your episodic game series unfinished fun?

in a cutscene or in-game?
how many times are you going to notice fizzy bubbles when you're running around shooting?
zero times

actual fizzing bubbles

gamers man. time for a 5 million view video titled "THIS IS NOT BEER! HOW GAME DEVS ARE TRICKING YOU"

VR is an entirely different context, where physical interactions and the physics of different types of materials and how they behave or can be manipulated actually matters. You are after all, interacting with these objects more directly than press button for context sensitive action or move camera.

Likely when you go drink a beer in game

the the poorfag with a computer that will stutter when it tries to render the bubbles

So what was the liquid in the bottles used for in the game

There's a level dedicated entirely to throwing vodka bottles around to lure an unkillable enemy which can only react to sound

souvl overload

The "fun" in VR is the physical interactions and object manipulation themselves, which is why they matter in that context.
The novelty of it has real value in the "fun" so their incoproation in the game is justified byu that alone. They don't need to be useful in gameplay.

So the liquid in the bottles don’t matter, this could have been done with empty bottles

They don't need to be useful in gameplay

So same for GTAVI

No because the "fun" is this ,
they just actualy made a section of the game to display and highlight it in this You're actually retarded.

I’m not asking you why you can pick up bottles I’m asking you what was the point of putting moving liquid in the bottle and has is that fun beyond “I looked at it move for a couple of seconds and that’s it” If the bottles instead were just empty would the game suffer at all from it?

Attention should be reserved to interactive details to avoid giving Gaben a narcissistic wound when he punches a wall but nothing happens
So are the GTA sodas interactive or is it a static effect? This determines whether I buy the game or write hatemail to Steve Rockstar, so answer seriously.

Because in VR you can break the bottles and play with the liquid itself.
Ask yourself this:
What is novel about VR?
Why might a liquid enhance the "fun" in that paradigm?

The better question is why are you "running around and shooting" in a car driving game?

Uhm, doesnt Alyx have the most realistic bottles with liquids? They even foam.

HOW IS THAT FUN GABE?

So are the GTA sodas interactive or is it a static effect? This determines whether I buy the game or write hatemail to Steve Rockstar, so answer seriously.

Seeing as there is eating and drink in GTA6, could be used as an indicator for how full your drink container is. Not that I think that’s amazing or anything I still think you’re well within your means to call it a pointless feature

break the bottles and play with the liquid itself.

Not in half life Alyx, the liquid is a shader effect not a physics object

It adds to the experience like being a 2024 West coast liberal in the Wild West or being a black-worshipping cuckold in the Middle Ages

Convincing stuff

play with the liquid itself.

You can't

Why might a liquid enhance the "fun" in that paradigm?

You went from bubbles to something else

Now answer, what do these bubbles do for gameplay

in VR

I didn't specify Alyx but even in that instance the novelty itself justified it due to the medium and the "fun" of that medium.

It's fun in the same way looking at a neat shaped coral is fun

You're just a retard who can't follow a conversation.
I'm not defending the bubbles.

Why are valve dickriders like this, is there something they won't say "its ok when Valve does it"

That is the exact problem with Rockstar as a company. They just pile on features, but forget to make their games fun.

oh dude, you can watch television!

Great, so I can sit still while I'm playing a video game, and watch videos that could just as easily be on Youtube. I am never going to do this.

Great, so I can sit still while I'm playing a video game, and watch videos that could just as easily be on Youtube. I am never going to do this.

I will though, I get comedy shorts with my game

Let me watch them while I walk around and play the game, or I'm not watching them.

Gaming media likes to focus on NPCs growing facial hair in Red Dead Redemption/Grand Theft Auto or guards needing to eat in MGS because the actual games are unfun, needlessly cumbersome tripe.

MGS is fun, and distracting guards with various objects is literally part of the game.

Are valve hiding Deadlock from Gabe?

OP is a retarded faggot

i'm shocked

Gaben didn't critique "attention to detail", he complained about people realism dictating game design. how the hell do you listen to that and come to the conclusion that he hates attention to detail?

Guard routines in MGS could've actualy mattered.
Throwing spoiled/poisoned food in their path was an actual deployable tactic.

Are you fuckwads pretending to be retarded? The quote has fucking nothing to do with with attention to detail, it was detached from it's original context by the twitter fag to support his shitty point
Anyone that played Lost Coast with the commentary on knows that Gaben prioritizes details. I hate this board so much

still seething

This but Boxgirl and give her big tits and ass.

This is Rockstar entirely though

oh dude, we got full skinning animations for every animal

Oh great, so you put boring unplayable scenes in the game, when all I want to do is pick up a collectable, and move on.

takes quote of context

forgot that Alyx did something similar

Do Pcbros really?

I just love bait so much.
That retard on X mentioning Gabe is saying the complete opposite of what Gabe was saying about half life.
Gabe said something along the lines of, if you make a choice in a world and the world ignores you then your ego is attacked. If you fire a bullet into a wall it should make a hole, if you shake a bottle, it should have fuzz.
There is nothing wrong with gta 6 bottles, if they're a shader like in half life alyx then there is virtually zero performance cost

Gabe didn't say the bubbles in GTA6 are bad. Some guy imagined Gabe thinking that.
Why the fuck should I care about this?

do you have the link to the video?

You're absolutely right.
The fizzy bubbles in Alyx are ultimately pointless.
Just like how the fizzy bubbles in GTAVI are pointless.
It's all pointless and doesn't actually add anything to the player experience.
Which is the exact point Gabe was making.
But since you're making this argument to spite him, that just means this is a bad faith argument.
But you also agree with him at the same time.
So what the fuck is the point of this argument? Could have saved more time calling him a fag and moving on.

Wooooooooooow

pic of dsp saying wooooooooow

Bubbles in drinks during a cutscene? Pretty sure weve seen this before.

That's the point though. Shooting a bullet into a wall is fun, because it's the environment reacting to you in a very immediate and responsive way.
Just have shit in your game like a boring Yoga mini game isn't anything. No one is ever going to want to do that.

dude, features though!

So what?

The fizzy bubbles in Alyx do have a point though. The entire game is a VR tech demo, and people think it's novel to pick up a bottle and shake it around.
As evidenced by ... it being one of the things the game is known for.
Nobody is ever going to actually enjoy the bottles in gta 6 having bubbles, it's just faffery.

Yeah Gaben is right, but unfortunately Rockstar dug a massive hole that all AAA developers are stuck in since GTA 5. It’s no longer good enough that games just have gameplay with good enough aesthetics to complement the gameplay.
Nope your game now must feature horse testicles shrinking and growing depending on the climate. This being something you’ll never actually see unless you specifically look for it, not even that cool of an easter egg, and probably cost a few thousand USD and over 100 hours to implement into the game.

not even Gaben have played alyx

I wonder how much of this shit just comes from justifying paying so many people in a porrly managed pipeline so you have to find shit for them to do while they wait.

its showing off tech bro, its a tech demo thats gameplay or something

Stop dickriding valve

this
everyone is misquoting him and misunderstanding him

It might the first half life 20 anniversary video.

has has too many features

You know gameplay is the first thing studios get down? They can add fizzy bottles, it won't affect the gameplay they establish 20 years ago

It is fun to notice details during gameplay if that makes sense. Like in Zelda after rain puddles are bigger and it let's you create a bigger lightning AOE.

And what about cockroach AI in half life 1

Cool, will the gameplay be meaningfully improved from GTA:SA?

I don't know if you guys remember GTA5 or RDR2 but they're fucking not fun at all.

You forgot to play IV?

bebjd.webm - 640x360, 3.22M

I’m meaning the weight training shit seems to be back. As is more advance unarmed combat like high kicks

When I notice fun little details like that during gameplay, I become more immersed and being immersed is fun.

Aside from the fact that it's very immersive, picking objects up and throwing them lets you distract enemies or knock things over to get items. There's also a persistent enemy that relies entirely on sound to find you and there's a part where you open a container and a bottle starts rolling out so you have to catch it before it falls to the ground and breaks and gives you away. Rockstar of David games are shit, but Valve still has talent for creating immersive worlds with impressive mechanics and gameplay segments that utilize them.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have fizzy bottles. But I am saying I don't really care. it's not a selling point, unless I can throw the bottles around and have fun with them.

press button to watch animation

gameplay

The difference is the half life bottle shader was made by one guy during lockeown and since its a shader, costs basically nothing to render
How much do you want to bet the GTA one cost several million dollars to make and will make your game run at 3fps?

I didn't watch the trailer, but what I'm more willing to bet is that it's a shader but it's not interactive and the bubbles just always go towards the top of the bottle.

That is quite literally all games

No ones talking about the fact you can pick up and throw bottles retard, that’s been games for over two decades, we’re talking about having a liquid effect on the bottle

Why would there be empty glass bottles everywhere unless you were in a bottle factory? The bottles are a gameplay mechanic. The liquid in them is a detail that contributes to the setting and creating a sense of immersion. Plus the feedback for breaking them and seeing liquid splash is incredibly satisfying. Valve does good gameplay mechanics AND attention to detail. Rockstar of David does not.

You must not have played many games. Try Skater XL, BeamNG, GTA4

How is melting ice cubes in MGS2 fun?

Because video games are simulations and its fun to see things rendered realistically

it is if you dont pay enough attention to larger things
like fun if your company even uses that word
because otherwise youre missing the forest for the trees

These games don’t have animations?

So the two billion dollar budget game should look like shit? What is this faggot trying to say

at worst it's a minor detail you won't see or just ignore

at best it adds to immersion and looks neat

vtards are seething about it

lol

c (3).png - 824x883, 885.88K

Those games have you control physics objects.

railS.webm - 1280x720, 3.29M

Why would there be empty bottles everywhere

Trash? Everything else is “errm actually the liquid effect is a cool detail” so you highlight is that you can pick up a throw bottles to lure enemies. Something Rockstar did in Manhunt in like 2003

How would Gabe know what's fun? HL2 was made into a moviegame under his watch. How is it fun to have NPCs rant at Gordon for minutes without the ability to skip?

still coping

i'd rather have Rockstar make GTA games every few years like they did in the early 2000s than wait 13 years for one game with stupid shit like this

Literally every gta since 3 lets you control a physics object what are you saying

Trash

Wrong. Trash isn't stored in boxes in storage rooms. Try again.

It's hard to explain. (that's a direct quote frome Drive)

cart.webm - 1280x720, 3.43M

Could have just made it a waste management or recycling facility it doesn’t matter, it’s supposed to be an industrial building. It could have been a bottling plant.

you are talking about degree of reactivity
ubisoft games have very little outside of scripted stuff while game like teardown have a lot of it
RDR2 had bunch of great mix of physics and animations

Thank you for understanding

If you want a game that is straight up physics based it’s called Exanima, it kinda plays like ass. Every other game utilizes canned animation to some degree to facilitate gameplay. You swing a sword in Elden Ring, you’re playing an animation

Has this person ever played Half-Life? Half-Life 1 is literally full of these kinds of details.

I'll take a look at Exanima, although I'm not too big on combat games.
The Souls games always looked like basic ps2, press button to watch animation games.
We have some really girthy CPUs now, I think we could run some really cool stuff.

I agree with you, but god you're doing such a bad job defending your point I'm tempted to no longer agree with you.

Or instead of changing the setting, they could just get details right. Which is what they did.

How much do you want to bet the GTA one cost several million dollars to make and will make your game run at 3fps?

You only need a basic shader that probably takes less resources as the one in Alyx.

Yes, having to garden path a retard leads to terrible defences because the point isn't to defend it and outline it in full but to make a retard understand it.
You have to garden path it to find the point their understanding fails.

oh so you're just retarded. good to know. i do not think i will be responding to you any more.

Dumbest cope I’ve heard. The building it takes place in doesn’t matter to the story or even the gameplay. The bottles could be opaque and the gameplay and scenario would still fit

Good, it's not like it was directed at you to begin with.

Gabe fans =! Gabe.
Retards are retards, and they always miss the point,

AAA developer though, so even something that SHOULD be simple will become bloated and run at least 5x worse then it should.

Wait is this retard arguing that GTA isn't fun? I'm starting to side with the kill twitter posters guys and gals

it makes the game age slower. Rockstar are at least 10 years ahead when it comes to details.. these things will be standard in games 15 years from now

c-cope!

You're an underage third worlder trying too hard to sound smart and authoritative. Setting always matters, no matter how hard you try to dismiss it. Within the game, the distillery has storage rooms set up to trap the monster amd bottles stacked in a way that them rolling out if you carelessly search can get you found. You being an idiot trying to defend Rockstar of David doesn't mean Valve should compromise design so you can pretend attention to detail is bad when they do it.

attention to detail a bad thing

That's not what he said though

Distillery

So it would have an abundance of empty bottles you fucking tard

Attention to detail makes a good game even better, but it doesn't save a bad game.

Not packaged and ready to ship out with no full bottles in sight, you idiot. You haven't even played the game.

And Valve is a small indie company?

Why did this detail get so much attention? We've had animated textures for over 30 years.
It's like this all over again youtu.be/TMYso30L9zI?si=QUB0CIo99K4aGpR9

Yes empty bottle would be in boxes dumbass, they don’t make the glass bottles they ship them to the distillery empty so they can be bottled

this heckin beer has bubbles in a pre-rendered trailer that will look nothing like the actual game!

People really love to pretend Gaben is some hyper-utilitarian who hates anything beyond the necessary requirements and detail to constitute a game.

Distilleries don't make their own bottles? I feel fucking retarded now. Thank you for correcting me.

If anything else empty bottles would be more readily available since the empty bottle boxes would be open for bottling use while bottled drinks would be sealed for shipment

we both know the actual game will almost the same on pc if not the same stop being a faggot

too much attention to details doesn't matter if he's boring , RDR2 has balls who shrink in the cold, but the game itself was boring as fuck

That fat fuck is probably the last person anyone should listen to in order to know what “fun” is. Fucker doesn’t even care to make games, just increases his wealth through pcfaggots buying shovelware on his store

This is what fun looks like to Gaben

IMG_1601.png - 1366x768, 500.72K

In the way they actually develop shit? Kind of, yeah. Its part of the reason their development pace is glacial even compared with AAA devs.
