that notion does absolutely nothing to soothe james. a logical moral judgement doesn't change the fact that in the ultimate culmination of his life with her she was screaming and didn't want to go and he killed her anyway. that unspeakable obscenity was the endpoint of his wife. the emotional reality of that doesn't change even in the context of what you can realistically expect of a person in a traumatic fugue state.
